We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Where has everyone else gone off the thread?

I'm still here! Grin

Still plodding on.

Having got to 8 stone loss and healthy BMI just before Christmas, I put 10lb on over the Christmas period. Was just in the process of losing that (helped by 200 miles of RED January) then got pneumonia. The resulting hospital stay, carb heavy food and zero movement gave me another 8lb gain.

That was 3 weeks ago now. I'm back to losing, quite rapid this week (4lb so far - weight day Friday). But not yet back to my pre-Christmas weight of 9st 8.

Current weight 10st 4
Weight Jan 1st 2018 - 17st 8.5
Weight Dec 2018 - 9st 8 (lowest weight to date)

Immediate aim: 9st 8
Next aim: 9st 0
Ultimate aim 8st 11 (half my body weight!!)

PostNotInHaste · 18/03/2019 11:35

This has flashed up in front of my eyes , had better post ! Been flat out with things for months now, lots of physical work and i’ve been eating a lot as knackered so a bit up. Had to stop running for a few weeks due to foot but back at it. Basically am KOKOing .

HoneysuckIejasmine · 18/03/2019 21:26

Sorry Moonlight cross posted with you and missed your post. I think your baby slept more than mine last night! I've not had my 7.5 hours of sleep for almost 2 weeks now. He's 17 months old so should be beyond this now.

I've eaten really light today. Unintentional I guess - vegetarian day and as I'm doing carb swaps.... Dinner was vegetable curry with broccoli instead of rice. So v low calorie overall.

Today I can say officially that I am a size 10 top. (Size 12 bottom.) In fact one top I bought today was a size 8 ShockShockShockShock I mean, I'm wearing it tighter than its supposed to be, and I've altered it on he sewing machine to change the hem line... But it's a size 8. OMFG.

Fate amazing progress, you are inspiring!

Post Koko when life is busy is as much a challenge as losing, I think.

Hi all,
Some great losses this week well done!!
I lost 2.2lbs and am delighted because I didn’t do anywhere near as many steps as usual because of the weather. KOKO really does work!

Had a stressful weekend involving aggro from ex husband and inadvertently driving on tram tracks which has left me feeling really poorly today- always get an upset tummy when super stressed
Hoping I feel better tomorrow, although it’s all still playing on my mind

Have a good week everyone

I’m in a massive funk about my weight today. I’ve been recording my food and I’m averaging around 2800 which is heaps. More then I should although less than I was having before.

Having weighed myself a couple of times this week it’s clear I have been eating too much to lose weight but I still have kept eating.

I know I need to plan out the next week of food but I just can’t be bothered. I’m frustrated and cross that I let myself get here and know really know what to do to feel better but still keep treating myself so badly.

FATEdestiny · 23/03/2019 09:13

The act of do my recognising you're over eating is the first step ICJump. So you should congratulate yourself on making that first step.

If meal planning is too much for you just now, how about taking a smaller step?

You could pledge to not eat after you've finished your evening meal. So not to snack in the evening.

Or you could pledge to not buy (and therefore eat) and more biscuits. Or cakes. Or chocolate bars. Or whatever binge food you use.

Or you could pledge to cook and fill your plate with tons (and tons) of vegetables for your main meal. So you fill up on healthy, nurishing stuff.

I'm not suggesting you do all these options. But to pick just one. It takes no big planning and easy to see a difference in how nourishing your diet is.

moonlight1705 · 23/03/2019 09:38

ICJump I've been where you are and just wanting to binge on things. It does get easier as your body recognises it doesn't need the extra. I echo what Fate says and choose on thing to try reducing....they say you need to do something for 21 days to become a new habit.

I've had another good week with a 3lb loss Smile. The main reason is I simply don't have time to snack at all.

Total loss: 39.5lb

HoneysuckIejasmine · 23/03/2019 11:53

Yes I agree with Fate. Pick one new habit and go from there. You don't need to overhaul everything all at once.

I've lost 1lb this week. I really didn't think I would - baby's not been sleeping and I've been fridge diving far too much. Just exhausted so haven't done my steps every day either. So I'm pleased to have a loss at all!

Lost to date: 96.75lbs
To lose: 16lbs

Moonlight well done! Make sure you're getting enough vitamins and minerals, take tablets if need be. Calcium especially.

Start 1st Jan 2019 - 268 lbs (19st 2lbs)
To lose for 1st target -10% - 27 lbs (17st 3lbs)
Current weight - 246 lbs (17st 6lbs)
Total loss - 24 lbs

Have been lurking on this thread and all your weight lost successes keep giving me motivation to keep going even if I have a bad few weeks. Since my last post, I had a bad February diet wise and lost nothing for 3 weeks running Sad but I am back to it in March Grin.

Hopefully in the next 2 weeks I'll lose 4lb and hit 2 mini targets. 2 stone off by end of term (Scotland) and will have lost my first 10% body weight!! Recording calories and keeping within the weekly allowance Honey showed me how to get in MFP has really helped as it gives much more flexibility. I can feel the difference, especially in my denims but while I feel more mobile going upstairs and out and about I don't quite feel ready for an exercise regime just yet (weak ankles and balance).

IC Jump 100% agree with the previous posters, break one bad habit at time and after a while your body and your mind will start to recognise it as a new normal. I also find keeping a good visual track of progress spurs me on to keep it going! For me breaking the habit of fridge raiding/snacking is as hard as giving up smoking 16 years ago! But I am getting there, every time I go to snack I look at MFP weekly calories or my Excel graph and think about what I am trying to achieve and if it doesn't fit in with my allowances it encourages me not to.

It is hard work but appetite changes quite quickly, 12 weeks in I am reasonably happy with one poached egg on 1 slice of toast with what I now know is 8g of butter and a glass of water for lunch instead of 2 eggs, 2 slices of very buttery toast, huge glass of fruit juice and something after it!

ICJump · 23/03/2019 18:41

Thank you.

I think I’ll tackle lunch time vegetables first. As afternoons are my worst for mindless snacking so having a filling healthy lunch might help with that too.

Well done in the losses it’s inspiring to see them.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 23/03/2019 19:17

Broken that spreadsheet is a thing of beauty! 😍😍 Well done on your loss. February was a write off for me too, it's a challenge to get back in to it, so huge well done!

IC I'm a big fan of soup for lunch. I batch cook on weekends and freeze in portions.

I bought some new bras today. Down to a 34" chest now (from 40", I daresay I could manage a 32" but as I'm breastfeeding I don't want to be too squished). I've gone down a cup size too. Looking much better now I'm not in a baggy bra!

Did lots of gardening today. The front garden looks v respectable now, and the back garden is much tidier. My jasmine had gone mental so it was good to get it under control again, undoing the giant knot of branches! Made a trellis using some of the millions of bamboo poles I have and my Girlguiding knot tying skills. 😂

I’m still trucking.
Started Jan 1st at 280lbs (20 stone)
Weight to lose: 120lbs to normal BMI
Weight today: 254lbs (18 stone 2). 2lbs until 10% of my body weight lost.
Weight lost: 26lbs
Weight still to lose: 94lbs

ICJump · 25/03/2019 20:27

Inverted thats excellent!

I’m down 2 pounds this week althought yesterday I was in a shitty mood and ate like an idiot.

My plan this week is to reduce my average daily calories to 2700. It was 2900 last week so I think that is douable although Monday’s rocky start won’t have helped.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 25/03/2019 21:44

Wow IC, well done! Sounds like a good mini goal, and we'll done for recognising your disordered eating.

Inverted fabulous progress! Hope you reach your 10% loss asap.

STS this week for me. Oh well, KOKO!

OP posts:
Quandary2018 · 30/03/2019 08:22

Hi all, I’m still here but been having a tough time with the whole weight loss being so blooming slow I didn’t want to be a Debbie downer!
Since I last posted I’ve lost one measly pound. I honestly do not know what’s going on- a pounds great don’t get me wrong but for all the exercise I’m doing- 3x 45 mins cardio, 5x 45 mins weights plus at least 13000 steps a day I don’t know why I’m not seeing more of a result.
I’m definitely not over eating as still tracking all my calories and apart from one day where in had 1300 all my other days are 1050-1150
Maybe I’m not eating enough? But when I was on 1300-1400 a day I wasn’t losing anything and even gained a bit.
It makes no sense to me but I will KOKO and hope something falls into line, to be working so hard and getting such small results is so disheartening. I’ve lost a stone since Christmas which I suppose works out as a pound a week, I guess I just hoped it would be more given how much I have to lose

Hope you all have a good week

moonlight1705 · 30/03/2019 08:58

I've also STS this week which is not too bad.

Quandary at least you are keeping going, my temptation before was to say sod it and then put on more. You will be getting healthier and stronger with all the exercise you are doing...the weight will come off eventually.

cricketmum84 · 30/03/2019 09:52

Another 5lbs off for me so 3 stone 3 off in 3 months :) I haven't tracked all week though... bad me!

I'm away for the weekend with my 14yo seeing a gig in Manchester, will try make some healthy choices but sure I'll be having a couple of beers tonight, we are out for tea and have unlimited breakfast at the hotel in the morning.

I've just had my temp contract ended at work so have 4 weeks to find a new job, stress diet always works well for me! Oh well at least I have the next 2 weeks off for school hols so can job hunt in between trying to crack this running thing!

Hi everyone, how are you getting on?

I had a bit of a blowout last weekend so I'm on damage limitation this week. Although it's my anniversary this weekend and it will involve food so I might skip the weigh in this week!

Have restarted Couch to 5k, really impressed that I can run a little bit now! Still feel that 5k continuous running might be a bit much but we can but dream!

OP posts:
moonlight1705 · 04/04/2019 20:01

Hi honey at least you can recognise when the blowouts happen now.

I'm doing ok, although I've lost quite a bit recently then it's sneaking back on so I did a day if MFP and was shocked as to how many calories I was eating. Still, got a good base to start from now. Smile

moonlight1705 · 07/04/2019 08:31

Well put on 1lb this week which is the first gain in two months. I am going to really concentrate this coming week on healthy snacks and not too much chocolate.

Total loss: 38.5lb
