It’s that time of year when we all start thinking about going on a diet. Anyone on my fitness pal who wants to make some friends for motivation?

Long run done but my god that was hard with a gin hangover. And it was super muddy and I was slipping all over the place.

Upside is I have literally not stopped for the rest of the day and therefore haven't really eaten much. So hopefully the calorie deficits will make up for the alcohol last night

It wasn't just gin. There was beer and shots as well.

Today is day 1 of week 5 for me and I've lost 16lbs. Having more energy and a clear head is a brilliant side affect.

How are you all getting on?

TheFirstOHN · 29/01/2019 19:23

I've lost just over 4kg since the beginning of the month. It's been a bit up & down, but the general trend is still (mostly) downwards. Within the next few months, I'd like to lose another 7kg to reach my first goal (which is to get my BMI down to 35).

MFP friends anyone?

I'm over my calorie target for the day apparently. But I do hate being hungry.

I’m ALWAYS over my 1200 calorie target and I’m always hungry ......but thrilled to get on the scales this morning and find I’m 7llbs down.

I suppose my average 1450 cals is way better than what I’d usually consume, but I would have thought with doing dry jan I would have instantly lost a stone- wine is so calorific!

Bringbackthestripes · 30/01/2019 07:41

Quick question. I signed up to MFP a couple of years ago and didn’t use it for about a year. Would I have put my target weight in somewhere? I can’t find where that would be. Just wondering what happens to the calorie allowance when you actually hit target- any ideas?
Thanks

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 31/01/2019 18:53

TheFirstOHN - that is a nice downward trend.

I have also had a bit of a blip but I got some new scales, digital ones as I was using mechanical ones, and those seem to have added a few lbs back on. My trend is back on a downward slide though so I am happy with that.

Bringbackthestripes - I think it would be settings, then Update Diet/Fitness profile.

Found it- thanks Smile

Another question..... I put in a recipe and it calculated the calories, all good, but when I press the ‘log it’ button it won’t do it. It pops up what meal but then won’t let me click on it or the quantity and log it. Is it because I only use the free element of MFP & don’t pay to subscribe or something?

BearsDontDigOnDancing a stone in a month is an impressive loss.

I like the way Libra includes a horizontal line for the BMI milestones, and I feel quite motivated to get below the next line. This is especially helpful for me as my goals are BMI related (to qualify for potential surgery)

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 07/02/2019 18:27

How is everyone getting on?

I didn't lose anything last week, and I stuck to my calories.

I have took my calorie allowance down a touch, to lose 1lb a week as opposed to 0.5 lb a week, so gone from 1720 ish to 1580 ish, but then I do set myself as sedentary but have the pacer app on my phone which syncs with MFP, so I get "exercise" calories. Seem to be back on track.

I also ordered some new kitchen scales as my old ones could vary massively, which probably did not help.

TheFirstOHN · 07/02/2019 18:58

I had a few days where my eating was all over the place, and am now trying to get back on track again.

Have got my BMI down below 37.5, which sort of feels like a mini milestone. I'd like to get my weight under 100kg by the end of February.

Aph413 · 22/02/2019 10:54

How's everyone getting on? I had a couple of dodgy weeks around my period and gained a bit but I've lost it all again now I'm tracking properly. Today is 100 days til 1st June so I'm planning 100 active days, even if it's just a short walk I'm going to move everyday!

Meralia · 22/02/2019 11:35

I’m back to using my fitness pal. I’m on 1,710 calories a day as I’ve set my goal to lose 0.5lb a week. I’ve got about 4 stone to lose. I’m more than happy to take the leisurely route. If it doesn’t work I’ll just decrease my calories by a bit.

I’ve dabbled with most diets, but I quite enjoy calorie counting. I struggle when I’m restricted to 1,200 calories so I’m aiming for smaller losses so I have a few calories to play with on a daily basis.

PeterPiperPickedWrong · 22/02/2019 13:59

I’ve plateaued-probably because I’m now back onto the weekly bottle wine AND it’s impossible to stick to 1200 cals. I don’t panic if I eat 1350 odd but I have found itoccasionally sliding up to as much as 1800!

However, I am still logging everything and I make a conscious decision to eat something or not rather than just stuffing it into my greedy gob. I can now be satisfied with a single twirl finger rather than eating a multi pack of them Grin

Aph413 · 22/02/2019 16:33

@PeterPiper where did you get your calorie allowance from? Seems incredibly low. I used tdeecalculator.net and used that to set it rather than what mfp gave me and I'm still losing around 2lb a week at 1650 rather than the 1400 mfp told me to eat.

PeterPiperPickedWrong · 22/02/2019 17:22

MFP just gave me that target, I’ve only hit it a handful of times. I’ve been logging cals since 1st Jan and I’m only 10llbs down even with doing dry Jan Sad

Aph413 · 23/02/2019 20:19

Try looking at the website I left, sometimes eating more calories helps.
In other news I have managed to fetch fish and chips for my parents and husband without buying myself anything or stealing anything off anyone's plate Envy

PeterPiperPickedWrong · 24/02/2019 08:37

I’ve checked it out. For maintenance cals it bumps me up to 1635 per day but then for cutting cals recommends 1135 which is less than MFP Shock

Well done on not being tempted with fish and chips -I actually declined the offer of an Indian takeaway and cooked something healthy but then pushed my cals well over with wine and crisps Grin ah well, back to being focused today.
