It’s that time of year when we all start thinking about going on a diet. Anyone on my fitness pal who wants to make some friends for motivation?

Really rubbish - I've had a horrible week at work, culminating in an emergency job last night that kept me at work until 8.30pm (normally finish at 2pm), and I had lunch with a colleague today and ended up crying about my Dad, who died recently. He was super kind and gentle which just made me cry more.

So I ate, obviously
Next week will be better.

Pinkroseuk · 18/01/2019 17:28

Sorry you have had a rough week @SocksRock
I have had a busy week at work too - stick to the diet all week and gained weight to having tonight and tomorrow off as getting quite upset about it which I don't think is helping. We are spending the weekend visiting both sets parents so have to get all washing and stuff done tonight so at least I won't be sat down!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 18/01/2019 17:43

I've gone off the rails this week, (I was just about to say that at least my exercise has continued but I've barely walked anywhere since monday - did make both exercise classes though) I knew it was likely to be a stressy week (Dad's waiting on a big operation) and I was right. So I've had a stress headache since wednesday and have lost the plot with food a little.

I have to be careful (because I need to look after ME) as I'm an absolute sod for comfort eating.

Anyway, It's my birthday tomorrow so I'll have the celebratory chinese takeaway and then get back to normal on Sunday Smile

Aph413 · 18/01/2019 18:23

Hope you don't mind if I join you all. I've added everyone who posted their usernames to mfp. I'm aphie413 on there if anyone wants it.
Currently just trying to stay in my calorie limit and then I'll start looking at exercise.
4 stone to my first goal of 12.5 stone

Pinkroseuk · 18/01/2019 18:36

Welcome @Aph413 :) thanks for the invite on mfp :)

TheFirstOHN · 18/01/2019 19:08

@Aph413 I've sent you a friend request

fatgirlrunning · 18/01/2019 23:35

Thanks Socks

I've lost 10lbs since Jan 1st. Managed my first 5k without walking on Thursday night, last 5k was September 😐

Getting into the swing of things eating wise. Woke up with a bloody head cold this morning though. Managed to avoid eating chocolate to make myself feel better.

You've all got this 👏🏻

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 19/01/2019 10:54

Doing ok here too, however I have "put on" 3lbs in 2 days, but it is my time of the month, so I am still charting daily on the Libra app, but made a note so I can see over the coming months how much it affects my weight for those few days.

My trend weight however is still showing a 9.5 lbs loss since 1st Jan so I am happy.

SocksRock · 19/01/2019 17:54

Better day today - I managed my long run for training, and it was awesome! I had zero expectations as it was wet and muddy and I was on footpaths, but it went brilliantly - 19.3km. Drowned rat territory but I felt amazing at the end.

My weight hasn't suffered from the bad days, but I haven't lost any - I guess that's a good as I can hope for!

Next week is another week. Just plotting out next weeks long run, need to go up to 23km 😱

fatgirlrunning · 19/01/2019 18:37

Wow Socks, go you! Smile Are you marathon training?

No running for me today, I've got an awful head cold/virus thing that makes even going for a wee exhausting.

Does anyone have any delicious cod recipes?

SocksRock · 19/01/2019 20:33

Yes, marathon and ultra training. 14th April for a marathon and then possibly an ultramarathon in July. Trying to stick to trails for marathon training, even though it's a flat road one I'm doing, as the ultra is a trail run and I need to get used to that terrain. Luckily there are lots of hills here to practice on! (Cotswolds).

Husband has decided we are Going To Be Healthy, which is awesome, but he's swept the house for snacks, and I'm now absolutely ravenous. Apples aren't really cutting it...

Aph413 · 19/01/2019 22:50

That's amazing @socksrock
Just done my first gym session since May last year, 45 minutes on the cross trainer. Feels good to be back at the gym but I'm not going to sweat it if I don't go. Diet is definitely my priority.
Two other things. Do any of you know how to stop mfp posting the same update 3000 times a day?
And any recommendations for bathroom scales?

SocksRock · 20/01/2019 06:45

So after a blip mid month (and I know it's not over yet!) I'm down 6lbs from the start of January. If I can lose another 4lbs by the end of the month I'll be bloody ecstatic, although I realise that's a tall order.

No idea about MFP updates - scales I just have a cheap set from Argos, I think as long as you always use the same pair, you should be OK?

Off for a day out with my SIL, my eldest and her baby today. I will be strong and I will make good choices...

TheFirstOHN · 20/01/2019 09:40

@Aph413 I wasn't sure if you were just doing many exercise sessions each day and wondered how you were finding the time! Smile

TheFirstOHN · 20/01/2019 09:45

I've had a friend request from someone with the initials (first names) V.A.
Is this someone from this thread? If so, let me know and I will add you.

Charteta · 20/01/2019 09:59

Can I jump on this too? Upped my exercise recently but definitely was eating far too much (good during the week and huge blow out at weekends which undid all my good work!) username is Charliem2385 if anyone wants another friend on there :-)

MajesticWhine · 20/01/2019 10:22

I added you @Charteta
I have a similar issue with the weekends. Takeaway and wine for dinner. It's hard to know the number of calories and probably far too many.

Aph413 · 20/01/2019 11:05

@socks nope I did one small burst of exercise entertaining my nieces learning to do the floss of all things Blush. Mfp decided everytime it synced with my samsung health it would post it again. I've turned off exercise updates altogether for now.
I've also added you @charteta
I've got another 7lbs to lose by February 3rd. I've signed up for some diet bets, no idea if any of you have heard of them. Basically lose 4% of your weight in 4 weeks and win a portion of the pot, guaranteed to get at least your stake back as long as you've lost it. I've signed up for 3 at once to take advantage of the weightloss as much as I can, but it does mean I've invested £80 into losing this weight so it's got to go!

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 20/01/2019 11:38

I am down 10.7lbs in total so far since the 1st.

I find that as a family as a whole we are eating better.

Certainly a lot more veg and salad etc.

SocksRock · 21/01/2019 00:13

Fab day out today, no idea on calories eaten but I feel like I've made good choices, we'll see.

We were at the running show at the NEC, I could have spent thousands. Limited myself to a pair of compression socks, and a selection of protein bars and snacks to try...

Back to work tomorrow. I'm bloody miserable at work at the moment, which means I snack. Tomorrow is going to be horribly stressful so I need to prepare snacks in the morning or I'll just buy rubbish. I'm on the road most of the day, which is really hard on a diet...

And my piriformis (bum muscle) is twinging as well, I've had issues in the past but I thought I was past that. Foam roller for me in the morning ouch ouch ouch...

SocksRock · 22/01/2019 08:18

Back below 13stone for the first time in forever. Only by 0.4lbs, but I'll take that!

I'm not the worlds biggest porridge fan but it seems to be the thing that fills me up in the morning, so I'm rolling with it.

What's your best "fill me up" meal? I need ideas!

JeremyCorbynsBeard · 22/01/2019 08:21

Yes please. I'm Detta1968.

fatgirlrunning · 22/01/2019 09:10

Does anyone know why MFP isn't showing my whole weight loss? My update today says I've lost 7lbs but it's a stone.

Boysmomma · 22/01/2019 09:52

@fatgirlrunning I had a similar problem, on the app, if you go into progress below the plus sign there is a little tab that allows you to chose how your progress is seen. I had mine originally tagged at 1 month or something and moved it to starting weight.

If it's not that then I am honestly clueless!

fatgirlrunning · 22/01/2019 10:04

Thank you I will go and have a look.
