Hi everyone!

I’m starting a VLCD (Slim and Save) on 1st Jan and wondering is anyone starting too? Or Cambridge, Exabte etc and maybe we could keep each other motivated?

My expante parcel still hasn't turned up, waiting on water flavouring so am struggling to drink enough water but even so have not stopped peeing! Going to have a hot chocolate shake soon and go to bed early with the kids. Day 3 tomorrow. Hope everyone else doing ok.

Kittensgalore · 03/01/2019 17:42

That should be Exante not Expante Grin

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 03/01/2019 17:58

Kittensgalore ahh thats a fucker! I'm okay with plain water but it can get boring! Just found the wonders of peppermint tea which is my new lifeline haha

Kittensgalore · 03/01/2019 18:24

Ohhh peppermint tea, is that ok to have? I know a lot of fruit ones are no good Think I have some at the back of a cupboard, not sure how it would be without a big glut of honey but will give it a go. Anything to get the water down me. It is a total fucker about the parcel, hopefully it will turn up v soon!

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 03/01/2019 18:56

Kittensgalore I asked my cwp lady and she said it's fine, it is only peppermint leaves in a teabag so not much that could be wrong with it.

I like it but am having a lot of horrified looks from friends hahaha

Eliza9917 · 03/01/2019 19:25

I'm 2 products down and I did 20 mins on a twist disc earlier, didn't make it to the gym again.

I'm thinking now to get used to being back on products and start the gym on Monday when I'm back at work.

I've been watching extreme weight loss all day as motivation.

GoGoJo · 03/01/2019 19:35

Yep green tea and herb teas fine but not fruit teas. You can also add cucumber to water for flavouring.

The period thing is because fat cells hold on to oestrogen and as you lose weight they release it which messes with your system.

Yep so if you are Ttc go nuts and if you aren't be careful! There were two or three Exante babies in the group I was in before!

Not too bad today. Had two packets and half a bar. Will finish the other half in a bit.

Did add a slice of ham to my pack rather than chuck it out. That is the last of my normal food though. Onwards and downwards.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 03/01/2019 20:11

I weigh more or less daily but only count loss on a Wednesday.

I'm really struggling to get back into it. Had no trouble sticking to it first time round. Only day 2, fingers crossed it slots back into place and starts to feel normal again soon.

GoGoJo · 03/01/2019 20:22

I found restarting after a break really hard. I'm not sure there is anything you can do but power through. After day 5 it gets better though I hope

RedPandaMama · 03/01/2019 21:20

I've just ordered a 4 week Exante pack, arriving tomorrow. Feeling really determined.

Started new year with great intentions, had a great day yesterday then today binged on loads of chocolate left over. I need to be really strict and have something to kick-start me.

I'm 224lbs currently Blush 5'8 and would like to get down to 150-160 in an ideal world but I look decent at 180 so would be happy with that.

How long would people recommend doing this for? Any tips? So far I've picked up - drink a lot of water and have a healthy meal a day - what is a 'healthy' meal? I'm new to the VLCD world!

Littlemissdaredevil · 03/01/2019 22:07

I’ve had two bars, a chicken curry sachet and a mushroom omelette today. I’m finding I’m very hungry mid afternoon but ok in the morning, evening and overnight!

Littlemissdaredevil · 03/01/2019 22:09

Ive started in Step 2 so a healthy meal is 200 cal meal of protein and veg (not veg that grows under the ground as they tends to be high carb)

Eliza9917 · 03/01/2019 22:10

I find it helps to have products at 12, 4 and 8.

GoGoJo · 03/01/2019 23:10

It depends what plan you are doing re the healthy meal. I'm doing total replacement for the first two months so three weeks of three 200cal packs a day and the fourth week you add 200 cals of low carb food (mostly add a bit of meat and salad to packs) or you can add 200 cals milk.

If you are doing the step two plans then it's usually 3* 200 cal packs per day and a 200 cal low carb meal. Low carb is important as staying in ketosis (when your body runs out of glucose to burn so uses fat stores instead) is what makes the diet doable as it stops you feeling hungry.

It depends how much you want to lose and how fast.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 03/01/2019 23:25

Personally, I have done step 1 (years ago) and am on step 2 now. If I'm honest, I dont think there is much difference in how full you feel. I have nearly missed the final shake every evening! I think I might finally be reaching ketosis lol, feeling sooo much better today!

Eliza9917 · 04/01/2019 09:21

I found when I did shakes & soups only, I felt much fuller after the first few days than when I have bars & other products.

Kittensgalore · 04/01/2019 09:24

What day are you on DayChampion? I'm just heading into day 3 and feeling very cold and not hungry just now so wondering if I'm heading into ketosis already but seems a bit quick. Maybe the house is just freezing.
My biggest tip is not to beat yourself up if you go off plan slightly, don't restart to day 1 just carry on as best you can and if you are going to eat something off plan have something v low carb. Also heaps of water which I find tricky, speaking of which I will go and have another glass now!

2littleguineas · 04/01/2019 09:34

Morning all, I'm delighted to find this thread, hope it's ok to join in.
I did shakes and low carb/calorie meal last year a couple of times to kick start my weight loss and then switched to low carb.
In some ways the shakes are easier because it takes food out of the equation but I can hardly stomach the shakes so end up stopping them after a few weeks and switching to low carb.
Anyway I started yesterday and I'm hoping to stick this as long as possible to blitz off two stone.

Good luck everyone, looking forward to chatting with you all.

RedPandaMama · 04/01/2019 09:45

My box is arriving today. I'm v excited but also apprehensive as I have a history of eating disorders but hoping this dramatic change can kick it altogether! I have no plans over the next four weeks and we are skint from Christmas so won't be planning any nights out or trips.

My sister has just gone abroad with uni for four months so my goal is for her to come home and go 'wow, you've lost so much weight!' hoping to be maybe 2.5 stone down by then.

Although I say this every year I really do feel like I'm in the right mindset this year.

GoGoJo · 04/01/2019 10:11

I'm day three as well and I tested with a keto stick this morning and got traces so I think it's starting to kick in. I am feeling better and not hungry, a little bit headachy maybe but that could also be caffeine withdrawal.

I also caved and weighed this morning- 4llbs off. That's why I love this diet!

themuminator · 04/01/2019 11:18

Hello all,

I'm doing Slim&Save. Starting weight 15st 7lbs. I have 4 stone to lose.

Day 4 for me, I don't really feel hungry, just empty. I'm doing 3 products and 200 cal meal (although I find if I add a couple more cals to the meal it suits me better).

For dinner I'm having around 250 cals. I add an egg to my chicken or fish to just feel like I'm having something proper. Normally dinner is a "stir fry" with fry-lite. Chicken, green pepper, mushrooms, tiny bit of shallot, tiny sprinkling of some approved spices and an egg on the side. Bizarre but works for me.

Peeing All. The. Time.

Lost 5lbs so far :-)

themuminator · 04/01/2019 11:20

Oh, and I plan on doing 4 weeks, then moving to the Blood Sugar Diet as I think it will follow on quite well.

I can't walk loads as I have a dodgy ankle, but did nearly 10k steps yesterday. Just trying to find an exercise bike now.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 04/01/2019 11:42

Kittensgalore day 4 today, feeling good! Although am also cold, plus drinking so much cold water is making it worse haha! Having a warm tea in between haha!

Getting weighed on Sunday, I am So excited! Really want a good loss this week to spur me on :)

When do you all weigh?

Kittensgalore · 04/01/2019 12:34

Hope your pack arrives Redpanda, I'm still waiting on an Exante parcel but I have lots of packs to keep me going so it's not an emergency!
It is so daft but I can't face getting on the scales yet which I know means I won't know how much I have lost in the first week, but am going to try and wait a while longer. I also end up getting obsessed and needing to weigh every day once I start so was going to take measurements instead but haven't got round to that either. Going ok though, day 3 and only just starting to feel a little bit hungry so I think ketosis must be starting to kick in. Have a child & work free afternoon ahead of me so am going back to bed & am going to read my book - bliss! Will Need a hot water bottle I'm so cold.
