Hi everyone!

I’m starting a VLCD (Slim and Save) on 1st Jan and wondering is anyone starting too? Or Cambridge, Exabte etc and maybe we could keep each other motivated?

What sausage is this that you speak of Eliza? I bloody love a sausage! What plan are you doing?

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 06/01/2019 11:40

Don't worry Rainbow! I'm sure tou are, like Kitten says, if not in ketosis we would be starving all the time!!

So weigh in today, 8lbs off!! Ahhhhhh!! So bloody chuffed Grin hope you guys are all good

Kittensgalore · 06/01/2019 11:50

Yay!!! So pleased for you Day, well done that is blooming brilliant, that has got to be great motivation to keep on-going. Maybe find a way to treat yourself that is non food related and no cost attached as that definitely deserves a reward. I'm not good at taking care of myself so struggle with this myself but something like time to paint your nails or having a bubble bath if you like either of those things. Or just watching something you love on TV.
I seem to have more energy today so that is great, not masses like I've read about but then I'm a sloth by nature so would be quite odd if I suddenly become bionic woman.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 06/01/2019 11:54

Thanks Kitten! I am going to do a face pack this evening and snuggle up with my new book. Really excited!

It is awesome motivation! Next weigh in isn't until next Tuesday now so slightly over a week but really looking forward to it! Love this diet!!!,

How are you going?

rainbowgrimm · 06/01/2019 12:04

Well done dayman, that's amazing! I'm still at 5.6lbs having stayed the same for the last two days which is really frustrating. Just back from a walk to try and help things along.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 06/01/2019 12:10

Thank you Rainbow! I'm sure you will drop again soon, I think that is the problem with daily weighing as weight can fluctuate quite a bit. You are smashing it though!

MaidenMotherCrone · 06/01/2019 12:55

@ChristmasFlary I know what you mean.... it's very expensive and when you order packs in a bundle just to try and don't like them they're a waste.

I've never tried the burger tbh, could you mix it in with Veg Chilli or Cottage Pie just to use it up?

rainbowgrimm · 06/01/2019 13:30

Does anyone know of any Facebook groups for selling/swapping unwanted packs? I'm sure I've heard of one before but can't find it.

Pitapotamus · 06/01/2019 14:04

Hi there, can I join? I’ve tried exante a few times but never managed to get past the first week.

I’ve been doing exante total solution since 27th December and only lost 6lbs so far which I’m finding a bit demoralising... the weight loss was quick to start off with but I’ve lost nothing for 4 days now. I’m not really sure what to expect, I was hoping to lose a stone by the end of January.

I’m a massive stress eater and the kids have been bickering all morning and my house is a mess and I’m cold and I’m feeling dangerously close to falling off the wagon.

Just telling myself that if I break the diet I’ll definitely not lose a stone by the end of January but if I persevere there is still a chance I might.

Anyone have any tips to get through difficult times? I’m sitting in bed mumsnetting to escape the noise downstairs and in a minute I’m going to jump up and crack on with cleaning my filthy house...

Kittensgalore · 06/01/2019 14:40

Hi Pitapotus, I reckon if you started on 27th you would be due a big loss soon, I know that sometimes it can seem that losses are really slow or non existent which is rubbish but actually tomorrow or the next day you could be down a significant amount which you won't know if you give up now. You've done so well to get through the holiday period so keep going. Given when you started a stone by end of Jan is totally achievable. If you feel like you are going to crack maybe have something really low carb available to have so if you do go off plan you don't also come out of ketosis?

I do not how it is though when the kids are bickering, it's a total food trigger for me. Mine fight loads, but we have a third kid here just now which always helps. I am drowning in crap, decided to sort out the cupboards out, big mistake! Good luck and try not to worry about what the scales are doing, maybe google 'the woosh' and VLCD's - explains why weight loss can plateau and then suddenly there is a big loss.

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 06/01/2019 15:40

Pitapotus, I second Kitten in regards to looking up whoosh effect! It really is a thing and, although a pain in the arse, it will ensure you a random big loss one week!

Make sure you are drinking enough water too! You've done so well to get this far, don't give up now!

GoGoJo · 06/01/2019 17:11

Thanks guys. I'm trying really hard not to get in an all or nothing mentality so if I go off plan a little I don't just say fuck it and quit. I just went and tried on bridsmaids dress for my friends wedding and it is a tad tight. Thought about ordering the next size up but I've decided that that way is the mentality of failure so I have to stick to this now!

It's rubbish when the scales don't move but I do tend to find that this diet goes in spurts rather than steady weight loss. No change for days and then bam! There goes 3llbs.

Sorry for personal question but are you a bit blocked up? Might be worth having a slim-a-tea or some senakot?

ChristmasFlary · 06/01/2019 17:31

@MaidenMotherCrone - I'm going to try it again... just incase l suddenly like it and then if not l will see if l can swap the other packs.... somewhere Xmas Hmm

Kittensgalore · 06/01/2019 17:32

I definitely don't think you should go for the bigger size, you will definitely be able to fit the one you tried on & will probably need to pay for it to be made smaller! I'm really glad someone else asked the blocked up question, I totally am- is it just a matter of time or should I take something? I did read about a tea but can't remember the name of it?

ChristmasFlary · 06/01/2019 18:50

I got blocked up the first couple of weeks. Took one dulcolax which resolved it

Pitapotamus · 06/01/2019 18:51

Thanks both, I’ve had two bottles of water and an espresso since I last posted! I must power through!!

I save my last meal of the day until the kids are in bed!

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 06/01/2019 19:08

Gogo you will get in that dress! Grin

Umm, I am slightly but I have found the peppermint tea has helped LOADS!

rainbowgrimm · 06/01/2019 21:40

We made it through the weekend - woo-hoo!

GoGoJo · 06/01/2019 23:25

Well done all!

And definitely take something. I think the tea is best. Gentle encouragement rather than full stream ahead if you know what I mean Grin

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 07/01/2019 07:21

Woop woop! If you can get through a weekend, you can get through the normal week! 💪

Yes I agree about the tea Gogo! I've never taken a proper lax but dp did once and it didn't sound like an enjoyable experience Envy

ClashCityRocker · 07/01/2019 07:39

Starting today on exante.

First time trying it. I've tried all the 'make little changes' stuff before but what I really need to do is break some bad habits and change my view of food.

I've got a mix of things so I can see what I like and don't like, although I'm not expecting any of it to be hugely enjoyable!

Three to four stone to lose!

Jarviscockup · 07/01/2019 07:52

Good luck ClashCity! I found days 1 and 2 ok as I was very determined. Days 3 and 4 were the hardest but I stuck it out by having a hot drink of herbal tea and the odd coke zero.
I'm now on day 7 of Slim n Save and am 9lbs down! Thought it might be a bit more than that in the first week as I have a fair amount to lose but I'm not complaining! It also triggered a period for me so hopefully will have a bit more of a loss when that finishes.
I found my physical hunger disappeared around day 5. So as long as I don't think too much about food, it's bearable. But I still get the urge to eat the rest of the Christmas food every day. It's slowly disappearing thanks to DH and kids!

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 07/01/2019 08:26

Good luck Clash! You will be fine, the first couple of days are the hardest but once you're through them, it is so much easier!

9lbs is amazing Jarvis! You are smashing it! Just try to ignore the Xmas food and I hope they get through it all soon!!!

Kittensgalore · 07/01/2019 09:20

Yes good luck Clash, I'm doing Exante, only on day 6 but also on and off it last year. I feel like this time it might work as have much more of an idea of the products and what I can do with them. So reckon it is great idea to get a mix and don't stress if you don't like something, you will find something you do. I like the chocolate shakes as hot chocolate, the sweet and sour noodles are ok with some Chinese five spice and soy sauce added and I actually really like the lentil Dahl pots. I'm on the Exante Facebook page and someone suggested having a boiled egg mashed up in it which I'm going to try today at some point.

Kittensgalore · 07/01/2019 09:24

Well done Jarvis, I think 9 ins is brilliant, you've got to be on for a stone in a month at that rate!

And yay we made it through the weekend! Seriously well done everyone!!!

I'm not so worried about the weekdays, and back to work tomorrow for me so in a better routine, but I know the weekends will be much tougher. I'm thinking long term if I can stick to the plan completely during the week and then mostly at the weekend with some very low carb food maybe that will be more sustainable. My downfall is alcohol. We are doing dry January so it's ok now but once DP starts to have a drink again I know it will be much harder for me.
