We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Moonlight how are you feeling?

honeysucklejasmine · 17/10/2018 08:41

Hi Quandary, welcome.

I've been floating around the same weight for 5 weeks now. Argh!

Fate I love my charge 3

Still steadily losing here 17lb since the 2st September. However have a firm word ladies I have got into the habit of weighing myself every day ! It’s not good and I certainly doing get any wow moments so think I am getting frustrated but it’s because I am doing it everyday !
Feeling a little flat at the moment but determined x

AnotherOtter · 17/10/2018 10:16

Oh honey, that is so frustrating Sad It really plays with my head when I have had long stalls too. What is 'scouts pace' jogging? That is a good walking pace you are doing. Your heart rate will be up nicely. How's the Fitbit going?

Well done on STS, strawberry. Sounds like you are being very practical and sensible. I am exactly the same with gaining confidence. Really hope your appointment tomorrow goes well Thanks

Welcome Quandary. Sounds like you have some great insights already. That's quite a low daily calorie allowance though. Are you managing to feel satisfied and not hungry all the time? I found I had to get something that I could stick to for the long haul.

I have been eating iced cupcakes. Carefully, one a day, a couple of times a week. Even doing the mindful eating crap where you focus 100% on what you are eating (annoyingly, this works). I've incorporated them into my daily calorie allowance. They are a binge food for me so I thought I would rob them of their power Grin I am teaching myself that they are really just a little puff of food, no better or worse than anything else. I am still far too rigid about keeping to my calorie allowance. When I was on holiday, I didn't know what I was eating and would end up going way over because my appetite felt out of control like I had no idea how to judge what to eat. I think a combination of over-reliance on MFP to plan my food in advance and forgetting how to respond to me internal hunger and satiety cues caused that. Any thoughts, mis amigas?

AnotherOtter · 17/10/2018 10:21

Crosspost with moo. I weigh every day and have done for over a year. I changed from weekly weighing so I could see the daily fluctuations and take them into account to see the trend in my weight. It can take over a month to see the trend in your weight with weekly weighing depending on how your weight fluctuates on the day. I am very philosophical about fluctuations now. For example, I am 3.2lbs down today from yesterday and I'm pretty much 🤷🏻‍♀️ It's definitely not for everyone though. You have to be able to distance yourself from any emotions attached to particular numbers.

moonlight1705 · 17/10/2018 11:29

Post I'm feeling pretty good actually, despite the wanting to eat rubbish every day....maybe this is my craving to want chocolate Smile

I did a taekwondo class last night and am pleased that I can still vaguely keep up, everyone is just so encouraging but I do ache this morning.

Another the best thing about my first trimester is that I listened to my inner hunger voice and stopped when I was full.....what a pity that has disappeared, I would like it back again. I'm not hungry now but my mind keeps thinking about getting a biscuit or a packet of crisps. I wonder if therapy deals with this issue or whether it is a physical hormone thing?

nikkylou · 18/10/2018 10:33

Hi All, please can I join you all?

I haven't set an end goal yet, I'm taking it a couple of stones at a time. However, I do need to loss at least 100lb to get back into heathly weight!

I've started slimming world last week, and had my first loss of 4.5lb. I've done it before but many takeaways later I undid everything. So I'm getting back on track.

honeysucklejasmine · 18/10/2018 16:21

Hi Nikky, welcome.

Baby had his jabs today so he's attempting to spend the afternoon permanently attached to me. Not helping my step count! But we did manage to walk to doctors and back. I'm trying to think of an excuse to go out again - toddler isn't a fan of going out for no reason.

The consultant's appointment went well, he thinks there isn't anything sinister but has booked a series of appointments to try and get to the bottom of things. We had a Chinese last night and I don't regret a bite!

PostNotInHaste · 19/10/2018 08:37

Welcome Nikky , great start! Hope little one more cheerful today Honeysuckle Moonlight pleased you’re feeling ok. Pregnancy does strange things I personally found. With DD only time I didn’t feel sick apart from week 17 and the last few weeks was when I ate. Remember being in pain from c section but not feeling ill, was lovely as hated that sick feeling. With DS I wanted red meat and not usually that big on it.

Strawberrypig really pleased for you all that Consultant was positive and he’s keeping at it.

Half term here next week, hurray !

honeysucklejasmine · 19/10/2018 09:56

He's getting there, post! Currently asleep on me. Expecting some friends to arrive in a few minutes so going to need to disturb him. Uh oh. Poor baby.

Today I treated myself to some new pajamas - I was still using the set I bought last year for post partum use, which were a size 22. Now wearing some "size 12-14" from Morrisons which fit marvellously. twirls

moonlight1705 · 20/10/2018 08:49

Ooooh honey that is so good Smile

I've stayed the same this week which I am quite happy about. I'm still under by 1kg my weight when I got pregnant and now at 26 weeks.

Ah ha! There you are Fezzes! Congratulations on your loss - lovely and consistent!

Moonlight that's really impressive! The amount of baby, placenta and fluid in you, you're doing very well.

honeysucklejasmine Sorry it’s been crazy this week. I’ve been getting ready for my son’s second birthday, holiday and Halloween 🎃

Then November is all about my dd’s birthday and Christmas prep So I will be around and lurking and hopefully contributing too

honeysucklejasmine · 20/10/2018 19:52

Busy time of year for you then! 😂

I got a Fitbit on Monday and have finally managed to get 10,000 steps in! Kids aren't well this week - we spent most of Friday sat on the sofa 😳

AnotherOtter · 21/10/2018 09:54

Loss this week: 1lb
Total loss: 94.6lbs
To go: 6.4lbs (though probably more)

Good week for me. Even had a day of maintenance calories in there so getting a pound off was pushing my luck. Still running and walking as the weather is holding mostly.

Moonlight, you are doing great still keeping up with the taekwondo. Bit of muscle aching the next day shows you were working hard.

Welcome nikki. Well done on your loss so far.

Strawberry, that is great news from the consultant! Hope they get to the bottom of things quickly. A celebration definitely called for Smile

That's a great NSV, honey. Very fetching!

Well done on your loss this week, fezzes. Hope you have a lovely holiday.

strawberrypig · 21/10/2018 16:25

Yayyy, 1lb off! I feel that is a bit of an achievement , given the week I have had.

37lbs off to date

63lbs to go.

The "to go" figure is starting to look a lot less scary, I am definitely on the slow road but I'm happy, I don't feel like I am deprived and my skin seems to be shrinking with me. I have to admit that excess skin was a massive fear of mine, obviously bets are still on long term but I am remaining optimistic.

honeysucklejasmine · 21/10/2018 19:23

0.75lbs lost this week. Hmm I am really struggling with the slow loss at the moment. I'm not going to give up but it does make me a bit miserable that I'm living on 1400 a day, breastfeeding a baby and not losing any significant amounts of weight. 😥 I don't want this to feel like a diet, it prompts feelings of deprivation and the desire to push the fuck it button. I won't, but I really really want to.

75.25lbs lost - this is why I won't.
36.75lbs to go.

Argh!

MagicKeysToAsda · 21/10/2018 22:16

Well done Honeysuckle your perseverance grim bloodymindedness is inspiring! I maintained this week more or less intentionally, after your advice last week. Today I did my first 5k "race" - not sure that I enjoyed the crowds or slight feeling of pressure, but I'm really proud to have done it, and to my shock in the photos my sister took of me running I look...like a normal person. Not a blancmange on the move. Not jabba the hut's plumper sister. An average-shaped scarlet-faced person. Can't quite get my head round it!

PostNotInHaste · 22/10/2018 07:36

Well done on the losses AnotherOtter , Strawberrypig and Honeysuckle.

Great about the photos MagickeystoAsda , normal is bloody brilliant !!

Quandary2018 · 22/10/2018 07:54

Well the wedding did more damage than I had hoped- 3lbs on between Thursday and today, which is crazy because I didn’t go mad at all I had fruit and eggs at breakfast both mornings, only a few alcoholic drinks and then the wedding breakfast which weren’t massive portions or anything hugely calorific (I gave my potato dauphinois away!)
I’ve always been one of those people who just has to be in the vicinity of a calorie for it to find its way to my hips and this weekend has proven that point completely.
Back on it today

honeysucklejasmine · 22/10/2018 18:11

Hopefully it'll come off as quickly as it went on, Quandary.

I'm living in the plague house. We're all ill, fevers, gastric symptoms.... Delightful.

OP posts:
Quandary2018 · 22/10/2018 18:21

I’m still 2lbs down from where I started but it is so disheartening to gain that much in a weekend of eating “normally” and not counting every calorie that passed my lips.
I didn’t even over indulge really- everyone else had full fry ups/French toast etc for breakfast and I had fruit and poached eggs 😂

Hope you’re all feeling better soon honeysuckle
