We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible…......... 🌟 1205.75lbs 🌟 since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing!

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hi Stompy, welcome. I echo AnotherOtter - it would be good to have an honest think about why you put it back on again. I'm a binge eater and my portion control was out of control too. So the old SW "free food" was an absolute disaster for me. This time I am calorie counting with My Fitness Pal. It's pretty easy to use (although can be time consuming)!and I've found it helpful to tackle firstly my portion sizes, and then once I'd got to grips with it, I've started to think about the nutrition in my food choices - how to get the best "value" from my allowance. So now choosing better goods too.

AnotherOtter well done on your 5 mile run! Check you out!

Thank you Honeysuckle and Otter!

I gained it back as I moved in with my partner and had a total lifestyle change - before I was living alone so had complete control of my diet and was in an area where I could exercise regularly. Now not so much! Although it was just reverting back to my typical self as I also binge eat, have portion control issues and reward myself with food. My immediate family are the same so eating properly would be breaking the habit of a lifetime.

PostNotInHaste · 08/10/2018 10:09

Welcome Stompy. Apologies for not posting properly but only have mobile plus no wifi.

Just been to try and get rid of some of yesterday's food as come down to find my lovely lovely cousin has gone to work after laying out breakfast for me. After trying to Google in German to see if any wild boar attacks in area and not finding anything I decided to go back into woods as it is lovely and I think it's the old road to the village.

First half went nice and slowly uphill, all good and enjoyed it however on second half there was an alarming screeching /squealing noise. Had read wild boar have good hearing so decided to ditch headphones and blast music out. Next song up 'Hungry like a wolf' and i'm thinking (having previously checked with cousin no wolves in region) shit, hope German wild boar don't understand English and get ideas from this . Attached photo of my splits, no prizes for guessing at which point I heard alarming noises Grin

Ok will just post stats for now. I started on 1st October weighing 15 stone 1
Today 14 11
Lost 4 pounds
Will convert to pounds in the future.
Target roughly 9 stone
5 stone 11 to go
It has gone fairly well because I have done shedloads of walking. Meant I could have cheesecake one evening as I was covered.
Did have a couple of blips but overall a good week.
Doing My fitness pal.

Badhairday77 · 08/10/2018 14:27

Well that went wrong. Actually 14 10.5

wakefieldmum · 08/10/2018 16:54

Oh hey!! This one caught my eye as I too have a lot to lose. I'll be looking back over this thread for some tips. I've just had a snickers. Oh dear!!

MagicKeysToAsda · 08/10/2018 17:03

Love your stats Post! Assume you made it back safely..?

Well done Badhair! Now all I can think about is cheesecake...

Had a fairly good day here, into a routine of exercising with a friend a few times a week, where we jog, then do skipping and a few other things like lunges. It's nice to have a change, and I still like doing longer runs on my own.

honeysucklejasmine · 08/10/2018 21:21

Hi Wakefield!

Lol Post have a brilliant image of you tear-arseing through the woods being chased by a boar!

Right. Have had a reasonable day today, food wise. And made another 9 portions of parsnip soup so I'm set for lunch for a fortnight. No excuses!

Good day today, went to soft play so lots of crawling and climbing, and then walked to shops this afternoon (4k). Went out for lunch but because of allergy restrictions I just had potato (no butter) and beans, which I shared with DS. Nice big chickpea and turkey curry tonight so feeling full right now.

I've had an awful day today. Dd failed a peripheral sight test last week and was retested today with the same result. She has been referred for a MRI scan (bit scary going from spec savers to a hospital appointment) and she was a bit shaken. To distract her I took her for lunch, she chose Frankie and Bennies and I went for a full burger, chips etc.

So now, I'm anxious as hell about the MRI but I've swollen so badly that I'm not sure if I have to cut my wedding ring off.

slithytove · 10/10/2018 22:58

So I weighed in yesterday at 14.13.5 which means I am 16lbs down total, 3lbs down from last week and that I’m out of the 15 stone bracket! Yay!

5 more stone to go...

slithytove · 10/10/2018 23:00

Strawberry so sorry didn’t see your post when I posted, how insensitive of me.

Did the optometrist say what they were looking for with the mri?

Don’t beat yourself up about the food, it’s one meal - as long as it’s left there it doesn’t matter a bit and your daughter is far more important

strawberrypig · 10/10/2018 23:15

Smithy not at all insensitive, the nature of this thread is that you are posting your story and also interacting with others at the same time.

Obviously me putting on lbs is irrelevant in these circs, just trying to anchor myself to something that I am doing now. They are looking for a stroke or a tumour etc that will account for the loss of peripheral vision. Hopefully it is none of these things, just something she was born with.

PostNotInHaste · 11/10/2018 07:03

Strawberrypig really sorry to read that. My DD has unequal pupil size when dilated and I was very freaked out with thatbat first but it is something she was born with. I’ve administered a fair few visual fields tests in the distant pass and my impression is a few people struggle a bit with coordination sometimes and that might possibly can effect the results , though I don’t know that for definite, just what I observed. . Any idea how long she’ll have to wait for the MRI scan ?

Slithy well done and Honeysuckle pleased you had a better couple of days.

honeysucklejasmine · 11/10/2018 14:40

Oh Strawberry that is a worry. I hope you get a date through soon.

I'm in the car waiting for the kids to wake up so we can go on a walk.

Fish fingers, waffles and beans for tea tonight because I am 5. Grin

Badhairday77 · 11/10/2018 22:53

Everything crossed strawberry . Was out tonight for a meal and. Show and planned to limit alcohol and have one course meal. Failed on both counts but it's ok. I will not allow one day to screw up my long term goals.

PostNotInHaste · 12/10/2018 06:54

Sounds tasty Honeysuckle! Badhairday that's exactly it, one meal that went a bit awry absolutely doesn't undo the rest. That fir me waa a huge change in attitude, before the fuck it button would have gone off.

MagicKeysToAsda · 12/10/2018 07:52

Very familiar with that button! If an early look is to be trusted, I have an unjustified gain this week. I peeked because have been invited out tonight and wanted to know "before and after" damage as I hoped it might make me more rational...nope! I have been pretty honest with myself and have eaten properly, and exercised as usual, this week - so it's just annoying. Need to give my head a shake and remember that consistently doing sensible things will work in the end, and that I'm SO much healthier than before I.e. My thoughts this morning were "it's lashing down, maybe I won't run. No, I will feel better after a run, I'll still go." whereas before I physically couldn't have run (and would definitely have grabbed a "rain stopped play" excuse!)

Let's not talk about what I ate for breakfast while angry with the scales Drawing a line here, moving on Grin

fezzesarecool · 12/10/2018 08:16

I’m another one who’s now learnt to draw a line after a ‘bad’ day. It’s all good practice for maintenance when Christmas and holidays come and then doing damage control afterwards.

It’s amazing to me how my mindset with that has changed from it’s just a lapse rather than fuck it.

Although I’m struggling I’m definitely trusting the process and very hopeful that long term it will all balance out.

PostNotInHaste · 12/10/2018 17:35

Sympathies MagicKeys, sucks when it goes like that but I think we’ve all been there with the weight loss not being linear thing, I like it when it comes off when not expecting it though ! Think we’ll have to readjust to exercising in cold and rain which will be hard after this summer.

Fezzes yes keep trusting the process and great you’re thinking maintenance and damage control as these are hard to do when you don’t have the scales moving to reinforce your efforts.

AnotherOtter · 12/10/2018 17:51

Well done on your loss badhairday. I found it a good plan to work planned treats into my routine too. I am very much prone to the 'fuck its' (as throwing the baby out with the bath water after eating more than planned is known as around here) and knowing that this one delicious iced cupcake is still within my calorie budget somehow means that I don't eat the whole packet. I've tried not eating 'junk' like cakes at all but just feel deprived so it doesn't work. After reading your post I googled gluten free cheesecake though Grin

Welcome wakefield. How are you getting on?

You sound like you are really managing to get exercise incorporated into your life, Magic, which is excellent. How do you decide what pace to run at with your friend? I worry about slowing people down.

That sounds really frightening, strawberry. Fingers crossed there is a simple explanation for the peripheral vision test result. How long do you have to wait for the MRI?

Well done on your loss, slithy.

Not much news with me. I weigh daily and my weight is very spiky still. Think I'm around 4lbs up from my lowest weight in August. Trying to see the silver lining that that isn't really bad at all considering my medication changes and illness but feel dispirited that, not only have I not made any progress, my pretty MFP graph is up. Need to get a fucking grip! Still running and walking though. I am the fittest I've been in my life!

honeysucklejasmine · 12/10/2018 20:10

Evening all. Mixed day today. Not sure what'll happen scales wise this week.

I'm doing Parkrun again tomorrow. In the rain and wind 😭 hope I can keep up with my friend - I hope her double buggy slows her down, I'm leaving my kids at home to get some alone time.

strawberrypig · 13/10/2018 10:10

I am not weighing in this week, I've eaten rubbish, drank too much booze and this weather has made my arthritis agonising (usually not a problem as I have had it since I was really young).

I just wrote out a load of information about dd but deleted as it's not my health info to give away. Helped writing it out though. Long story short, we are in a battle to get her seen ASAP as paediatric neurologists are as rare as hens teeth Sad

Back to KOKOing this week.
