Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me - not overweight but would like to lose a few pounds?
I am 5’ 3” and weigh 9stone. I look ok, but def have lots of wobbly bits despite running and a couple of hiit sessions a week.
Would love to get to 8st 7lb, but my love of wine and salty snacks does not help! Eat mostly healthily apart from this.
Have been using happyscale to weigh every day, managed to get to 8st 11.5lb earlier in the month but now back to where I started 🙄.
Any tips from anyone? First world problem I know!

This mornings weight is 9st 0.75
Am very hungover after a bbq at friends yesterday - loads of wine and food....
It’s going to take a huge amount of willpower to not eat all the carbs today, but am going to do my best!
I would love to be 5 or 6 pounds lighter by the end of July.

And Waterlego, you look amazing!!
Like Fauxfox, I love running and just don’t enjoy classes as much but I do admit that running doesn’t do much for toning etc,
I need to without doubt cut down hugely on my wine consumption - not only for weight loss purposes, but for health reasons too!

I have weighed in today at 9 stone 12. Quite pleased, actually haven't weighed myself for ages. Have been really going for it with the exercise.

Waterlego looks amazing, agreed.

waterlego6064 · 01/07/2018 09:50

Thank you!

Kettlebells are ideal FauxFox, resistance bands and dumbbells also useful things to have, but there’s quite a lot you can do with just body weight. And yes I suspect you’ll find loads of stuff on YouTube!

Incidentally, just want to clarify that I didn’t post the pic out of vanity- just thought some might find it interesting because my BMI is at the higher end of the normal range, almost at the overweight range, and yet I don’t really look overweight, IMO. Wondered if it might be useful to see that heavy doesn’t necessarily mean fat 🙂

youngerself · 01/07/2018 09:52

Ooh yes perfect for me
I had put on a stone or so and lost it recently with bsd and now just want to lose 6lbs so that I'm 3lb under where I want to be so that when I start maintenance I will be ok
Currently 8 stone 3 and want to get to 7 11
This is good for accountability
Will do Mediterranean diet today at bbq and do 1000 calories on mfp from tomorrow

Waterlego, what can you do with resistance bands? Pilates type stuff? I should probably look on YouTube!

waterlego6064 · 01/07/2018 10:03

Yes, Pilates type stuff, so very good for core work, including lower back, which is always worth strengthening to help you avoid back pain/injury in your day to day life. There is also stuff you can do for shoulder and arms, and loads of stuff for the glutes! Will see if I can find some useful guides.

waterlego6064 · 01/07/2018 10:05

This sort of stuff is brilliant for toning and strengthening legs and bum. I dare say there will be videos on YouTube.

Bicep curls-
This is actually a resistance tube but very much the same sort of thing.

Thanks waterlego, I am new to the world of resistance bands but I have some from my physio (+exercises) after I gave in to the fact that I was injured and it wasn't going away on its own.

Pythone · 01/07/2018 10:27

Today's weight is 8 stone 13.25.

My target for this week is to stay under 9 stone! I seem to have been gaining and losing the same pound for a fortnight.

Whisperingwinds · 01/07/2018 10:48

I will join too please ! I am 5.3 and 8.9 stone - am apple shape and happy with it most of the time except the tummy and the muffin top! I know I will look so much better with some more off and am aiming to lose another 5 pounds. The heat wave is definitely helping as my appetite has gone!

adaisy1394 · 01/07/2018 11:11

Sunday weigh in and I’m 1lb down without really trying last week so I’m deffo going to be strict this coming week even though it’s taper week before my ultra.

Also forgot to weigh before brekkie so I’m tea and toast laden!

10st 5lbs, 9lbs to go!

quackaday · 01/07/2018 11:38

@waterlego thanks for the resistance stuff. The thing that always confuses me is how many reps/sets to do to make it effective? Do you know? Thanks!

butteredbarmbrack · 01/07/2018 13:51

Hi all, I spotted this thread earlier in the week and can I join too? Did a weigh in this morning and to my dismay I found the scores were 10 stone/65kg (I'm 5'3" ) which is probably my heaviest for a good while. Could explain the general lethargy, though the heat may be to blame also!

I 'd like to shift certainly half a stone, maybe a tad more. I do some running (about 3.5km once or twice a week) and try to make Zumba once a week, plus the odd swim. On days I work and commute in, it's a long day so the gym is tricky, but I aim for at least 10,000 steps. So overall my activity levels aren't bad, though wouldn't hurt to step it up if I can. But I think the trick will be to better manage the calorie intake....

Westwing1 · 01/07/2018 13:53

Joining please! 5ft 6, 9st 11 lbs this morning, age 50. Small boned, want to get down to 9st. Holiday in 2 weeks. Would love to be 9st 7 by then. Calorie counting and low carbing. No sweet tooth but wine and nibbles my downfall. Finding it so much harder than when I was in my 40s. The extra pounds do not want to come off. My bust and tummy are too big and I can't fit in my favourite clothes.

cathyandclare · 01/07/2018 15:28

With our group weakness for wine and salty nibbles we could have a fabulous night out!!!

Whisperingwinds · 01/07/2018 18:50

Just read the full thread and I could have written a lot of them - another one with a weakness for chocolate , wine and salty snacks!

I lost about 3 stone about 5 years ago and ideally should have lost one more - but lost motivation - does anyone else that is short find it really difficult to lose weight once they are in the normal range? I eat mostly healthy- have cut off alcohol to a very large extent - am vegetarian and love veggies and fruits - my downfall on a daily basis seems to be the carbs / weighed in this morning at 8.9 (57 kgs)

  • my happy weight is 50 kgs - I want to see it this year !
FireF · 01/07/2018 20:10

Hope it's okay to join?

I'm 5'5 and 9st11, I go on holiday in 6 weeks and want to get down to under 9st.

My jeans are too tight and I feel really uncomfortable. I'm the same as most of you in that it's the wine/ crisps/ anything salty haha. I've also been having way too many takeaways over the last few months, I honestly have no idea how I haven't put on more.

Winealot · 01/07/2018 20:15

Ooh, lots of people joining in now and most have the same weaknesses lol!
Have been ok today considering the massive hangover although am now thinking hair of the dog is a good idea!
Am going to try and have a really good week this week, am away next weekend, so will either have to weigh in early on Friday or face the music Monday morning!

OP posts:
Whisperingwinds · 01/07/2018 21:47

I have had a good day today and have also remembered to drink lots of water - hopefully no for a
Happy weigh in tomorrow morning

Whisperingwinds · 02/07/2018 07:28

Weighed in this morning and I have gained 2 pounds overnight ! JUST HOW!

Mightymelon · 02/07/2018 07:32

Is weighing 11 st too big to join? I’m somehow still in size 8 trousers (just) but you all seem teeny.

Alicatz66 · 02/07/2018 07:33

Can I join please !!! I'm 5 foot six and 9.5 ... only want to get to 8.13 !! It sounds silly I know ... but my clothes are pinching and I can't afford a whole new wardrobe ... I've just seen last years holiday photos and I looked so much better .. I'm oozing out of my bikini now ... going to cut out the alcohol and count calories on the Fitbit .. going to rebounding tonight !!

ThomasNightingale · 02/07/2018 08:16

Checking in. I’m 5’4” and have come down from 10 stone (the very edge of overweight) to 9’7” by a simple process of drinking less wine and saying no to cake, but I’ve plateaued over the last couple of weeks. I’d really like to get down to 9 stone: I have a couple of favourite dresses which are unzippupable at 10 stone and still unflatteringly tight at 9 and a half. Hoping that seeing this on my TIO will encourage me.

This thread is a good example of just how wide the healthy BMI interval. The people going from 24 to 22, 22 to 20 and 20 to 19 have very different weights. But that’s fine as long as we all focus on our personal goals and don’t get distracted by other people.

I do find this weather quite motivating: I’m wearing such lightweight clothes that I really do have nowhere to hide the flab.
