Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me - not overweight but would like to lose a few pounds?
I am 5’ 3” and weigh 9stone. I look ok, but def have lots of wobbly bits despite running and a couple of hiit sessions a week.
Would love to get to 8st 7lb, but my love of wine and salty snacks does not help! Eat mostly healthily apart from this.
Have been using happyscale to weigh every day, managed to get to 8st 11.5lb earlier in the month but now back to where I started 🙄.
Any tips from anyone? First world problem I know!

Weighing in today at 9 stones 3 and a squidgy bit, so I think that's 1lb down over 2 weeks.
I have had yet another slack week foodwise and no exercise againHmm
I'm on it next week, have 3 weeks to go before holiday with mil, I'll be relying on a spray tan after that to disguise and streamline.

Galvantula · 25/08/2018 18:51

Still 9st 3 here. At least no more has gone on. 😄

Alicatz66 · 29/08/2018 17:08

Oh dear .. I'm home from holiday early hours ... will shamefully weigh in and report back in the morning Confused

Westwing1 · 29/08/2018 17:52

Hi Alicatz66, welcome back, I am weighing in tomorrow too, holiday was controlled but bank holiday weekend was a vat of wine, crisps and roast potatoes. I expect it to be bad.

Winealot · 29/08/2018 18:48

Back also after a 2 week holiday, will weigh tomorrow - it’s not going to be pretty going by how I feel (and look!)

I keep attempting to join in on weight loss threads and falling spectacularly off the wagon. But this one is made for me....I'm 5ft3" and weigh 9st. I should be 8st -8st5.

I cycle between 8st 10 and 9st 3 constantly. Depending on how much chocolate a popcorn I've binged on - whoever said popcorn was good for you was fkn lying. Huge bags and you can't stop 😂

My goal is 8st by Christmas. That's a pound a week. I find it incredibly hard to lose weight. I eat low carb (gluten intolerant) anyway, and never eat breakfast. But when I do open the chocolate or sugary snacks - I just can't stop 🙈

cathyandclare · 29/08/2018 21:13

Mr pebbles you are me! I could have written your post, also 5 ft 3 and currently at 8 12 but need to be below 8 5..

Low carb but too many nuts and wine and when I give into sugar- it's like crack cocaine!

Thomlin · 29/08/2018 22:05

Mr Pebbles I'm EXACTLY the same! 5'3 and the low 9s are about my normal when i'm kinda watching what i'm eating but not denying myself anything if that makes sense. I fit into a size 8 but my "muffin tops" hang over a bit and there is a definite wobbly belly.

So I have been steadily losing .5 to 1lbs a week since I started this at the end of July (9st1). This week I decided to LCHF, so I've been having an exante shake for brunch, a big meat/ fish + veg meal for dinner and then an exante bar with a cuppa at 8pm. Seems to be working pretty well and after 1 week of sticking to this system I'm down 6lbs!! I've walked every day on my lunch break and even marched in front of the telly to make sure my fitbits all green (20 flights, 5miles, 1800cal, 10k steps).

It seems to have worked wonders. So i'm now at 8st4 and this morning looked at myself sideways and there is absolutely no bloating (it's TOTM too so doubly amazing). It's almost flat. I do still have some work to do on getting the final bit of stomach & hip fat gone and then its tone tone tone for me! So goal is still 8st, will reach this and re-evaluate.

Well done to all BrewBrewBrew

MrPebbles · 29/08/2018 22:59

@Thomlin - oh my that's inspiration that is!! I am sat here starving but hearing that it's possible is motivation not raid the kids sweet tub! 😆

I started on Monday and similar to you, I'm a shake for breakfast then salads, soups, low carb for dinner. Fingers crossed it works as well for me as it has you!

MrPebbles · 29/08/2018 22:59

@cathyandclare I think it will make a big difference for me hearing how folks of the same stats are doing things and doing well x

Runbikeswim · 29/08/2018 23:20

Can I join? 5ft 3 and 8 stone 12. Not happy!! Went down to 8 stone 5 or 6 and turned into a sh1t hot runner but couldn't keep it off as I got obsessed with food

Think I could probably reasonably be 8 stone 7. How do I know how many calories to eat to gently get to and maintain 8 stone 7?

Runbikeswim · 29/08/2018 23:24

I've been sugar free since 1995 and alcohol free since 2001 and don't eat cheese or nuts or flour but my weakness is yogurt and loads of fruit, tons of carrots rice cakes and oatcakes. Must be just too many calories 😬 I exercise 3-5 times s week.

Westwing1 · 30/08/2018 09:18

Morning everyone, weighed in at 9st 4 1/2 lbs, determined to get back to 9 st. Relieved it's not worse though Grin. Trying a month without alcohol, (today being Day 3) should help. Welcome new joiners.

Alicatz66 · 30/08/2018 12:07

Well I'm back from holiday .. oh dear .. I'm just over 5 foot 6 and my goal is to be 9 stone .. or even one magical
Pound under !!! I was 9.4 before I went on 2 holidays this month .. back now and 9.6 this morning .. I feel bloated and I think the only way ahead is low carb and knock the alcohol on the head !!! Starting tomorrow going to try to leave it as long as possible before eating ... then have a Purition shake about 12 and a salad with protein about 3 .. then a low carb small dinner.. previously I've had trouble sleeping if I do low carb but will see how I go .. I'm sure a couple of oatcakes before bed would be ok !!

MrPebbles · 30/08/2018 14:50

It seems that most of us eat low carb in some way, as well as watching calories. Will be interesting to see how long it takes on average to lose the half stone or so that most of us want to. I've come to the conclusion that only through half starvation can you lose vanity pounds! Grrrrr

Also some comfort to see that it's not just me who can gain back 4-5 pounds after one (very) naughty weekend.

It's partly that reason I want to be a bit lower than target so that I can comfortably have a naughty weekend then not feel too awful afterwards.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 30/08/2018 15:11

Ooh I didn't realise this thread was still going. I've not weighed myself for a few weeks, ate a reasonable amount of crap and seem to have stabilised at 8.11.

I think I'm going to cut out the rubbish and booze again and gently try to push on towards 8.7. Then as a poster upthread said, weigh once a week and take action if I'm a couple of pounds over.

At 53, I think I need to keep an eye on it permanently now.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 30/08/2018 15:29

Can I join in too, please? I want to be healthier as I can't keep on eating the way I have been - I blame the deliciousness that has been these last couple of months... which have flown by in a haze of pasta (many, many types of pasta!), wine, biscuits, gin, brownies, beer, chocolate... (oops.). I'm 5'6" and I'm currently 9s4lbs. Somewhere under 9stone would be great!

Thomlin · 30/08/2018 18:16

Well I caved today, forgot my lunch so ended up with a baked potato as it's about the only mildly edible thing at the work canteen!! Not great when low carbing, but still it's better than Cake which is all I want now.

I think with carbs it's like once you start you can't stop. If i'd had my normal dinner I wouldn't even be thinking about food yet, but now I'm completely ravenous and 8pm seems forever away.

Agree with tinkly I think if I want to keep this new shape I'm always going to have to weigh-in and evaluate weekly. This has shown me I'm more than capable of doing it though, and it hasn't been that difficult bar the baked potato slipup

Hello to all new joiners!

MrPebbles · 30/08/2018 21:09

@Thomlin - carbs or sugar are an absolute sod for the "once you pop, you just can't stop" effect.

If it's a one day wonder, it's all good - you can make up for it the next day. In my case, it spirals into a week of indulgence 😆.

Good luck getting onto the wagon tomorrow. You've got this!

delphguelph · 30/08/2018 21:15

Totally forgot that I posted on this thread.

Well since I last posted I've probably lost the grand total of around 3 pounds? Only another 3 to go haha.

I've had to cut down on the crackers and peanut butter because now I'm in an open plan office where everyone is diligently tapping away quietly so I can't exactly be crunching away disturbing the oewce. So I'm snacking on quiet foods I. E. yogurt. Which is good for the diet.

Got into a bad habit of wine whilst prepping dinner every night : yes it's only a small glass but those add up.

Onwards!

delphguelph · 30/08/2018 21:15

the oewce?

Everyone, obviously

MrPebbles · 31/08/2018 08:02

So today is going to be a hard one! Moving into new offices and have an event after work - so lots of alcohol. I have however brought my shake for lunch and I'll likely be substituting dinner calories for gin calories. Fingers crossed it's not too bad 🙈

cathyandclare · 31/08/2018 08:07

I'm on a foodie trip around Spain, so not sure how kind the scales will be on my return. Have stayed off the carbs but had mucho chorizo, manchego and vino!

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 31/08/2018 09:54

Ah, Alicatz - would I be right in thinking that we're about at the same stage? And I'm extremely impressed by Thomlin - I always tell myself that I can't loose weight, but I think that I probably just make excuses to myself. If I actually knuckled down and didn't eat 5 slices of toast on an evening then I might actually get somewhere. My most pressing issue is that I've signed up to do a ridiculously long run in November, so I'm going to have to start training for that. Which means I will hopefully tone up over the process of training... (unless I start eating full packets of trail mix!) - Does anyone else overeat on 'healthy foods' from time to time?

Winealot · 31/08/2018 11:07

Weighed in yesterday after my holiday - 9 stone dead. Here we go again....😩.
Think I need to aim for 8.5 stone to start and then see. Lowest I’ve been is 8st 10 but still didn’t seem slim enough.
Can’t get back to being really strict yet, need to wait until kids back in school and I can exercise properly again. Damage limitation in the meantime!
