Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hello...I joined before under a different name...but wasn't in the right place ..I've been bingeing and bingeing for weeks now, always saying to myself,it's ok,I will starve tomorrow,or go on a slim fast drink diet tomorrow...but tomorrow never comes...realistically I need to loose half my body weight..if I want to be a size 10... but I wasn't a size 10 as a child.so that may not be doable...anyway just hello x😁

Hiya Summersnake

I was the same, for the last couple of years knowing I have to do something and then just bingeing. Mindset is everything and glad you’re ready.

You’re goal is around the same as me, I have to loss about 10 stone in total which is around half of my starting weight. I found mini weight and NSV goals helped it to be less daunting and every pound really does add up.

Can I join please, I really need to pull my finger out and get back in the right frame of mind, I have 3 stone to lose, I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I'm not happy with myself at all x

Crikey Callme that is a whopper of a week 1 loss! Ahem, back to reality. That is really a great launch for you to reassure you as you go forward.

MrStark she probably made three brioches and inhaled two of them herself at home so had to bring the third into work and make other people feel bad about themselves. You don't want to eat anything made by someone so toxic. Sorry you have to work with them though.

Welcome Summersnake it sounds like you're in a hard place, one that lots of us have been in. Hope it feels right for you to stick around and keep talking to us, and that today is a good day.

1lb off for me today a miracle due to the Swiss chocs incident I think an extra run and lots of walking on Sat may have saved me, but I need to be careful I don't start thinking I can resume over snacking with my consequences!

Total loss: 59lbs
Next week will be 1 year, so would be good to have a positive result for that.

It just feels so impossible I'm in size 24 clothes, and I think I've just got so used to being this big I can't imagine myself smaller....I'm going to calorie count...but not sure how many to have a day ..I want a good weight loss.my friend who is a size 12 looses weight on 1200 a day .

Shiteatusernames - I'm not sure this is the right thread for you. It's for those losing 100lbs + so starting weights of needing to lose 7 stone or more.

Losing 3 stone really is quite different and many of us would like to be in your positio n!

Summer I'm in a similar place - size 24. I'm not aiming for a size 10 personally as I don't think it's a size I'm naturally at. I'll be happy with not obese but would love to aim for normal bmi.
1200 calories seems very low - I'm not at all an expert but if I did that I would stick at it for a while and then binge as not sustainable long term for me at my current weight. Ive used the nhs bmi checker to find out the range i should be eaing in but im not properly calrorie counting.

I'm in for the long haul!

Summersnake, have you got mfp? I was 19stone 5lbs, size 28 at 5’4 and it suggested 1600 calories to start with. Depending on how much you want to lose a week and your stats it’ll suggest a calorie goal that you can do through food, exercise or both.

I think for me 1200 would have been a major shock at the start and even now I’m on 1400 at around 15stone size 20.

fezzesarecool · 11/06/2018 08:36

Also with mfp at the start I first goodmy portion size in control without giving up the junk and once I got use to it Ithen worked on heathy eating habits But that was just the way I needed to do it

Summer joining here is a great start. I agree with Fezzes about mfp - getting the hang of portions of very important. Just now I had my standard breakfast (wrap, 2 rashers of bacon, mushrooms, tomato) and I feel stuffed. Previously I could have eaten a bacon sandwich then two slices of toast and still been hungry. I am also snacking a lot less now. In February I used to eat roughly same amount of calories in snacks as I did for lunch. Now I rarely snack because I'm just not hungry.

Callme that's incredible, well done!

So, in a few weeks time I am going to visit my grandmother. I've not seen her in person since end of Feb. When we're there, we'll be seeing other family who live locally, who I've not seen since last summer. So I'm hoping it can be a bit of a "wow, you've lost weight!" moment. It's in 4 weeks time so I'd definitely like to hit 4 stone lost (3.25lbs away) and it would be absolutely incredible to get to next stone bracket (8lbs away). So, hopefully someone in between there would be great.

Quick question, does anyone know about vibration plates? Just wondering if it worth adding in along side my resistance training? How many time a week would be good

There’s a place near me that lets Non memebers use is and are doing a deal for 10 sessions so I’m not sure that if I add it in to go twice a week or just once

Summersnake re the not being able to imagine being different: I remember reading that the human brain can't really imagine a different mental/emotional state to the one it's experiencing at the time. So if you're happy, it's hard to fully imagine the depths of sadness. Likewise if you're depressed it's almost impossible to imagine being happy. Our brains just aren't wired that way. So for a really big change, you need to ease your mind towards it with small steps / goals that will mean something for you now. I've never been a size 10 either, so a goal for me might be drinking 4 glasses of water per day, or weighing out a portion size of pasta, later on it might be walking 15 mins a day ...something tangible, one change at a time, if you see what I mean?

Would it help to just try and think about what your second step will be? Your first step is done, posting on here - tick!

Honeysuckle I am about to copy your breakfast, yum.

Fezzes my only encounter with a vibration plate was at a massive exhibition at Earls Court where they'd set some up right by the escalators so everyone going up or down had a long view of, um, jiggly bottoms Grin I would have had a go if there had been one more sensibly placed.

callme - well done

Summersnake - you may need more to begin with I am 18 plus stone and on 1600 a day - too few calories and it will not help with the bingeing cycle as you will be hungry. I am the same as you and in a binge cycle I'm better than I was a few months ago I was bingeing every day and it was totally out of control. I've been bad Fri, Sat and Sun this week but am determined no more this week. I've found relaxation tracks help and exercise.

Yep I will definitely have a very wobbly bottom (and other bits!), I’m thinking to definitely give it a go and will report back Luckily enough it’s a a ladies only gym so I’ll be brave.

Report
fezzesarecool · 11/06/2018 11:36

Just to add the reson I’m looking at vibration plates is to do a session straight after the laser skin treatment to maximise the chance of any benefits of the treatments, not for a easy fix.

So I can say what it’s like but whether it’s effective or not will be a combination of diet, exercise and skin treatment rather that this is what happened (probably nothing!) and put it down to the vibration plate.

Good morning everyone and welcome to all new people Smile Not sure what weather like with you all but shaping up for. A hot day here on south coast. Managed to get my exercise on so not doing it in mid say heat and am now getting fluids down me.

I think we found last year that when it’s warm fluid retention can cause losses to slow and some gains so maybe be a little prepared if this does happen and hang in there. Especially applies if you’re going for a smaller weekly loss as doesn’t take much to mask it but everyone reacts differently.

Also with summer holidays approaching good time to think about how to approach the change of routine it brings, forewarned is forearmed and all that sort of thing!

I have noticed if I dont drink enough my weight goes up (I'm weighing daily in the hope it stops the bingeing as shocks me when it goes up) but if I have a day of drinking well (not today!) I will loose.

Great advice Post! I do get a bit swollen in the summer and wouldn’t have thought about weight gain/slower loss so good to have a reason to put behind anything that doesn’t seem right

Callme fantastic start

Weather here is lovely too, but stuck inside. Had a lovely weekend, family members birthday party, bbq and lots of lovely food, but was very sensible. Even got a cuddle from a 1 day one baby, I've forgotten how tiny they are, it's been so long since my lot we babies and one Ds is now 6ft 4 Grin.

Like others I really struggle at the weekends and I'm fed up of all my hard work during the week, slipping at the weekends, really trying to address this.

I've got something similar to you Honeysuckle my DM and DDad are away, when they come back I won't have seen them in over 3 months, really pushing myself as I want that 'wow you've lost weight' too.

Off to gym in a bit. Been trying a few of the Hairy Dieters recipies can recommend them.

Oh I do like positive of the day. I'm going to do one!

My positive of the day (POD) is that I had a hell of a day ( very long and very stressful) but instead of calling for a takeaway for DH, the DCs and me I shopped on the way home and I am currently cooking a healthy meal for us.
