Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 5

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:04

Hello, welcome to the fifth instalment (wow!) of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost an incredible….........Star 1024lbs Star since the start of the first thread in Dec 16, which is amazing! Grin Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

That’s so great b1rd! Sounds like it was a really fun day and what a massive reward for all your hard work running mummy!

Sounds like it was a lovey birthday lego and it’s always good to have a plan

Cagliostro I second the lists too! I’ve notice that during my stall I want keeping up with my paper fitness tracker and I’ve spent the evening catching up I’m hoping this will help me focus and set some mini goals

Funny moment - I umed and ahed about taking a "before" (well 9lb in photo) but was chicken and just did a head shot.
Turns out a photo of me from an event today is in the local paper. Not awful but not overly flattering 😂 Looks like I have a before photo!

On the plus I managed said event all day with the kids and was able to keep up with all the walking! Result ! I was out and not hiding or having to sit at the side while everyone else had fun. And I must be fitter than a few months ago :)

Hello! Can I join this thread? I reached my heaviest at the beginning of 2018, so I joined SW and have set myself a target of 76lb to lose - but only because it takes me to a round number and somewhere I’ve never been before Grin. Technically i’ll still be slightly overweight and could still do with losing a couple of stone after that, hence the 100lb... Hmm.

5 months in I’ve lost 32lbs so far at around 1.5lb a week which isn’t too scary, psychologically (I have a real problem with losing weight then getting scared I’m disappearing so I put it all on again...).

I’ve got various health issues so can’t run (did C25K a few years ago and loved it) so I started going swimming a couple of weeks ago and am loving it!

Reasons I finally decided enough was enough and it was time to lose weight:

I turn 50 in February 2019 and see it as a bit of a landmark - I need to be more healthy if I want to enjoy my 50’s and get to retirement!

I don’t want ds’s to always think of me as being fat and unhealthy Sad

I’ve got osteopenia (am Coeliac) and my right hip is deteriorating - I want to put off a replacement for as long as possible!

I want to keep up with my fit, healthy friends who walk lots!

Basically, I want to keep living for as long as possible, in as healthy way as I can.

So I started at 17.6 and am now 15.2. Target is 12 stone and then we’ll see how that feels Grin

Welcome dotty! My target is also 12 stone though it really should be 11... We'll see what happens when I get there!

B1rd that is just fabulous!

Lego glad you had a lovely birthday.

ScaredPAD great non scale victory!

This week I've only lost 0.75lb. Not sure why, I've been under most days, and under by 1200 across the week. I am going to cut my calorie allowance for breastfeeding and see how it goes - ds is certainly eating more actual food so maybe I'm being too generous.

Lost to date: 51.5lbs (over half way now!)
To lose: 50.5lbs

Wow, feels good to have the "to lose" number be the smaller one!

Loss this week: 2lbs

Thanks for the new thread Tractors
That’s an amazing total!

Loss this week - 4oz
Total 53lb 4oz
To lose- 46lb 12oz

I’m convinced I’m holding water weight this week as it’s ovulation according to my app and my knees and back hurt. I’m also constipated Sad
Hoping for a good loss next week.

notanurse hope you get your posts back, I wondered what had happened!

Thread seems busy at the moment, I must try to remember to check in mid week.

Hope everyone has a good week Flowers

I'm on maintenance for a few weeks - so have STS. I have been stuck on these figures for a few weeks now, but I'm going to have another week at maintenance to keep my eye in and settle myself, before pushing on.

Was at the ballet last night (Matthew Bourne's Cinderella) - easily fitted in the seats, and didn't feel uncomfortable at all couple of glasses of wine helped Grin.

Lost this week: 0 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 49 lbs
Left to lose: 75 lbs

Lost this fortnight: 2.2lbs (via up 6.6lbs)
Total loss: 94lbs
To go: 7lbs but think I will have to revise my target down as waist measurement still too large at 33"

Very pleased to have some decent movement on the scales. Feel a bit of a numpty with my moaning over the last month about it... really should learn to be patient. I just don't trust the numbers in MFP or fitbit at all. And to be fair they say I should have lost several pounds more than I have. But I think I will add a new rule for myself: no panicking or moaning about lack of weight loss until a full menstrual cycle has gone past.

B1rd, that is absolutely lovely with your daughter! What a great moment that I'm sure will stay with you forever Smile

That's great you had a good time, Lego. What's your plan for the next 365 days?

Cagliostro, I find lists very helpful too. Perhaps get scrap paper and start a rough list if you are intimidated by the notebook? When I moved last, I was pretty ill (bipolar disorder) and in a dwam from high dose medication so the only time I thought ahead was in the making of the list (I had help from my family and a support worker for that). Otherwise, I stuck to the tasks planned for that day (pack two boxes of books, pack chest of drawers in suitcase, etc) and literally ticked them off. It made me feel like I had some control and felt less overwhelming too. Hang in there Thanks

Great NSV, Scared!

Welcome Dotty. Great progress so far and well done on the swimming.

Well done on the losses and STS on maintenance (which will be all of our real tests in the future). KOKO Thanks

Welcome Dotty and Butterfly.

Had a good week this week, had some awesome meals and I have just bought some aloe Vera gel. One thing that has been holding me back, psychologically, is the thought of excess skin, especially under my chin. Research seems to think of aloe Vera to be the answer so I will give it a go, it also is supposed to be good for stretch marks too.

Week 3

2.5 lbs loss
10.5 lbs total
88.5lbs to go!

This weeks best discovery was mashing hot smoked salmon into a bit of quark makes a brilliant syn free pate combined with three bits of no crust toast. Very yummy, extremely filling and tastes really naughty.

You are all doing so well. I feel awful given that I still have only lost 10lb in a whole year Sad

B1rd your story actually made me tear up a bit blaming the hormones what a lovely thing for your DD to say and shows how far you have come.

nickname know that feeling of slipping too far, I keep posting here as even if I don't lose then maybe I won't put on.

Another that's really great news that everything is moving along Smile well done.

Tractors wow, you managed to fit in those awful seats......I'm truly impressed with that.

strawberry lovely loss, nice and steady but so wish I could do the same as you. What plan are you doing?

Cagliostro I love my garden and find it keeps me fitter than I ever thought possible. It helps doing taekwondo though which is great but exhausting. Hope the list making goes well i totally didn't do an ongoing spreadsheet when moving

Probably have missed loads as this thread is taking off but well done everyone. KOKO

Moonlight someone at SW the other week was feeling gloomy because after 12 months she was still the same weight. I was so envious because I couldn't imagine weighing the same, never mind less, for a year - I've put weight on year after year. So your 10lb loss is really good from my perspective! A year where you're not heavier than you were is all good Grin

I've had a good day today - swim first thing this morning and then overnight oats for breakfast and lunch - they're my new obsession, having discovered them a couple of months ago - I still can't get over how much like pudding my breakfast now is Grin.

Off to my Mum's with the family for tea tonight. There will be some naughtiness - couple of glasses of wine and probably pudding, but will try not to go too crazy..!

Moonlight, you are still lighter than what your were and you’ve maintained, which is a big achievement. Plus you’re still on here, actively supporting usabd interested in are journerys.

Don’t worry compare yourself to others, we’ve all got different methods and demons to face. You know what your situation is and you really are doing so well.

Good job Strawberry I like a dollop of quark too (can tell we're doing the same plan!) thanks for the salmon tip.

Small victory felt down and had to pop to the shop and didn't buy any choc. Which considering the last few days is a miracle.

Got 2 days lunches prepped and in fridge and tomorrow night's tea ready to hear up so hopefully will be a good start to the week.

Hey there guys.

I wondered if I could put something past you. I was going to start an AIBU but then I realised that MN can often be quite judgey if you admit to being overweight. And also don't understand what it's like to sort of be quietly not overtly sneered at for your weight.

So, at work the other day, a colleague that I'm not a fan of anyway started a conversation.

She's a super health freak "WHAT A WHOLE LETTUCE LEAF?? I COULDNT EAT HALF" types.

At work I'm known for:

  1. Trying really hard lately on weight loss
  2. Having a weakness for chocolate

So anyway, she comes to me and starts wanging on about this Chocolate Brioche she's made, how everyone said it was amazing and to die for

I then realise she's brought this into work and say "oh I would've liked to have tried some!"

She then said "I've just given away the last piece" but it felt false.

And it just felt like she'd geared the whole conversation as a way of

  1. Letting me know I was excluded
  2. Taunting/Pettiness/Spite hear of my amazing brioche, well you ain't having any fatty!

AND I JUST WANT TO TELL HER TO SHOVE HER FUCKING BRIOCHE UP HER FUCKING ARSE

I thank you

Does anyone else understand what I mean about this type of pass agg crap?! Not bullying you can prove, but obvious pettiness??

Hi everyone. I weighed myself today, it was a shock. I know I'm really overweight but I hadn't realised just how much I've put on.

I did the nhs healthy weight calculator and my bmi is 32. My healthy weight range is between 8 st 3lb and 11st 2lb. I am currently 14st 6lb.

We eat fresh homemade food the majority of the time. I have found myself snacking quite a bit lately. I'm on quite a few medications but since my Dr changed my antidepressants to metazapine at Christmas my weight and appetite have increased a lot.

I have no idea where to start. 4 to 5st to lose is just completely overwhelming.

Report
ScaredPAD · 11/06/2018 03:21

Hi Songbirds, I know that shock feeling! However from your numbers you've only got 3 stone to lose to be a healthy bmi and most people on this thread have had 100lbs+ so 7+ stone to lose. Id love to be your weight! But that will probvalky take me over a year to get to....
Medication can do some odd things.

MrStark that sounds really mean :(

Dotty I've rediscovered swimming this time round and that has become my "thing." I'm loving the feeling in the water and being able to exercise without myh weight being an issue!

Another I'm always so inspired by your loss! Well done. And to still be losing is ace :)

Tractors How exciting about the seats! That's definitely a motivator for me.

Honey - I'd be happy with nearly a pound loss at the moment. I'm aware it's going to be slow and steady for a long time for me. But yay it was actually over 2 lb!

I weigh Tuesday and my eating goes a bit haywire over the weekend I've noticed. I lose control a bit when put weekends are too full. Preparing myself it might not be a loss this week and not to get anxious about it!

Mrsrark I used to work with a lady who was too skinny and would always make out she was full after a nibble of something which was annoying after I had just inhaled my lunch! Would ignore her it was her problem not mine.

Scared weekends are hard when not in the weekly routine. I also feel I'm having to reprogram my brain not to just think oh well it's the weekend. I cooked this Fri which is a first but knew I was out Saturday.

Sun is shining here this morning so hopefully will be a good day.

Callmesausage · 11/06/2018 07:42

That was mean of her MrStark, still if that’s how she makes herself feel good, then just pity her.

Well done on the losses/maintenance and hello to new joiners.

Had my first weigh in this week and have lost 11 lbs!!! I knew I had been really good, but blimey. I also know I won’t lose anything for the next couple of weeks, but very happy with that start.

So

98 to lose

  • 11

87 to go

Next goal is to lose 13 lbs over next 7 weeks before holiday!

Have a great week everyone
Report
fezzesarecool · 11/06/2018 07:42

MrStark, that is mean! And you can bet if you mention it to anyone she would just say she said it as you knew your are loosing weight and shouldn’t be eating it! Bitch

It just comes from jealousy, some people always need to put others down in some way especially when they are doing well for themselves.

This time next year you will have or will be near to your goal, with a healthy balance approach to food and exercise, and she’ll still be a petty bitch who eats her brioche and then has to survive on a half a lettuce leaf all week. Flowers
