8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Tea was a celebrity slim shake then an orange and some blackberries. Argh.

harrietm87 · 21/05/2018 17:47

@milleniumhandandprawn he's only 4 weeks! In an ideal world wouldn't even be thinking about losing weight now but the flipping bridesmaid's dress has been bought!

I'm starting gently just trying to make healthy choices, though sadly did succumb to a magnum earlier...oops. It's so hard when you're sleep deprived though isn't it?!

ThrownMuse · 21/05/2018 18:17

Chicken salad for tea. And (drum roll)....I did not buy wine on the way home!!!!!

Instead, I have a low cal instant choc for later on when I've finished studying. Oh yes.

summerslimmer · 21/05/2018 18:24

We're nearly through day 1 - well done to us all :)
I'm going to brush my teeth nice and early tonight - it stops me snacking!

Not a bad first day so far. Don’t want to spoil things now!
Two shakes down and some fruit plus an hour at the gym.
Thrown how are you finding the shakes? I think the chocolate one is surprisingly quite nice. Haven’t been too hungry.
My downfall is usually the evening so going to keep myself busy!

Heartshapedfairylights · 21/05/2018 19:32

Great idea summer! Will also brush my teeth early.

MrsMozart · 21/05/2018 19:43

Obi That's excellent!

Well done all Smile

I'm chuffed with self - I turned down the offer of an ice-cream. Haven't had a Coke either.

I log all on MFP and, taking exercise into account, I'm under for the day Smile

Thiswontendwell · 21/05/2018 20:13

I've managed today quite well! I think - it's not over yet. I too am a evening snacker - there is the 'Sleeping Beauty' diet (I'm sure I'm not making that up) where you just sleep more...
Anyway - I'm proud of my water consumption today (tho I did have to leave a meeting for a wee twice! It was a very long meeting). But not so thrilled with my activity level - very few steps and I'm collapsed on the sofa now.... So there's a goal for tomorrow
Well done to all - really enjoying being part of a group!

ThrownMuse · 21/05/2018 20:17

Heart I liked the chocolate one...I had it it 8.30am but my 11am my tummy was growling. I blame the run! No good comes of running!

So I had a very healthy ham salad sarnie. It was that or I would attack the library vending machine!

So I've tracked my cals and I'm 1200 on MFP, and feel like I have won today.

How about you? And well done everyone else today!

ThrownMuse · 21/05/2018 20:19

This I struggle with steps, too. Even with my 26 minute walk, run, it only clocked up 3,800 steps, and I'm currently at 9,950.

So frustrating!

legohouse · 21/05/2018 20:21

I have failed on day 1 Confused I'm going on 2 shakes and one low carb meal tomorrow

Heartshapedfairylights · 21/05/2018 20:49

Ah! Lego that’s me every time I try to diet. I’ve had my shakes and fruit so far today. Feels a bit easier taking away the decision making around food.
Thrown not too bad hunger wise. I have my busiest day at school on a Monday so not much time to think about food. I resisted break time biscuits. Grin
Feeling hungry now though. DH is making burger. Will have one with a salad.

ThrownMuse · 21/05/2018 21:11

Well done heart!

Lego - don't self-destruct. We are all here for the same reason(s). Just start again tomorrow.

legohouse · 21/05/2018 21:20

Thanks... looking forward to tomorrow Smile

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2018 21:24

I’ve got a bit less to lose but the same timescale...it’s been really stressful at work (teacher) so I’ve put on half a stone. I’ve got a dress for a do in seven weeks time that currently doesn’t fit so I’d love some moral support.

My plan is just to cut out most junk and start exercising again.

milleniumhandandprawn · 21/05/2018 21:30

Awww lego go for it tomorrow! I couldn’t tell you the number of false starts I’ve had on diets!

Have had a good day today. Made some sensible choices and when there was a piece of chicken left from dinner I decided not to eat it “to stop it being wasted” as I figured it wouldn’t be any less wasted if I ate it - it would still be gone, and I’d be no less podgy!
Little things bit am proud of that one :)

Am going to try and wait until at least Friday to weigh in - usually I weigh every day and get despondent/ give up!

Awwww harriet no wonder you’re knackered and hungry! A 4 week old is hard work!! Blumin’ bridesmaid dresses!

Sleep well everyone!

summerslimmer · 21/05/2018 21:40

Lego you can start again tomorrow :)
I usually just give up when I make a mistake - all or nothing - I'll either eat perfectly or I'll binge on everything. That is one of the helpful things about being in a group - we can help keep each other in check.
Getting out of that 'well I've ruined it now so might as well eat everything' mentality is my priority for now.

MrsMozart · 21/05/2018 21:55

Lego As others have said, a bad today doesn't mean it has to be a bad tomorrow. I had a bad yesterday and a good today. I'm going for two good days in a row...

SureIusedtobetaller · 21/05/2018 21:58

Ok tomorrow (accountability post!)
Yogurt and granola for brekkie
Oat crackers with beetroot and cottage cheese for lunch (they were lovely!)
Erm dinner, quorn chilli with cauli rice and salad. I think.
Fruit for snacks
I feel like I should be slim and healthy already Grin

busyboysmum · 21/05/2018 23:03

Well I also did a body balance class tonight but foolishly weighed myself at the gym and I was 12 stone 3 so nearly had a heart attack. I'm wondering whether there's any chance I'm going to be able to lose a stone in the next four weeks and I'm now pondering the non-invasive liposuction that's on offer at our gym. Anybody had this or know anybody who has? Just wondering whether it works.

FiveShelties · 21/05/2018 23:08

I had an excellent Monday - managed 15499 steps, ate well and no alcohol. Just got to manage the rest of the week now!

Eesha · 21/05/2018 23:26

Can I join? Was in abusive relationship till recently and now trying to get my confidence back a bit. Just eating one giant meal a day, little or no water, and chocolate or crisps at night. And I'm wondering why I'm around 14 stone! Would like to be nearer 12 but feel shattered most days so always think tmw tmw....

Silvertap · 22/05/2018 06:17

Good day for me yesterday. 15k steps and stuck to my meal plan.

Today:
B - egg on toast
L - cheese & green bean salad
T - chicken with spinach salsa, new potato & veg.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 22/05/2018 06:22

Hello! Can I join please?

I have managed to put on two stone and keep them on over the last three years - I don't want to be looking longingly at my lovely but aspirational summer dresses AGAIN this year!

Have lost half a stone already. Currently 11.4. Want to be 10.3 by the 22 July, which is the beginning of the summer holidays.

I do lots of running - that has been up and down over the last year, too. Times are currently awful, but at least I am out there! I have a half marathon booked for the autumn which is keeping me somewhat motivated.

My biggest issues are portions sizes and lack of control. I calorie count; mostly try to eat lots of protein to keep me full.

milleniumhandandprawn · 22/05/2018 07:35

Hi eesha and thebitch!

So I totally broke my own rule (that I set yesterday) and weighed myself this morning. Am down 2lbs!!

I know I know it’s water weight and I’ve just finished my period as well and blah blah but WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!
If I can keep that off until the official weigh in I’ll be chuffed :)
According to Mfp my net cals were around 1200 yesterday which is cool and I wasn’t hungry at all.
It’s so annoying. When I was younger I could lose 1/2 stone in a week. Now it’s HARD work!
