8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Bad luck Obi, it’s just a blip!
I’ve just weighed and I’ve managed by some miracle to lose 6 ounces (little bits count!) so I’m now 10st 2 exactly. Challenging day today though, out for lunch plus birthday party this evening. Have a good Sunday everyone x

summerslimmer · 24/06/2018 09:20

Started at 11st 9
Got to 11st 6 by week 2/3
Didn't lose for a while
Now 11st 3

6 lbs off - feeling motivated to carry on now. May not make a stone by the 15th July but feel like I can get closer.

Have a good day everyone :)

I've had a terrible weekend with monster carbs and lots of alcohol Blush

I honestly don't know how people do long term low carb meals. I get the whole thing about ketosis and burning fat but I have to say, I think I might be one of these rare people Blush that just rarely feels full. People say the protein and fat fills you up but it honestly doesn't with me. I do think this is an issue and on some of those programmes like Obese A Year to Lose My Weight (or whatever it's called), there are problems with people who just never feel full no matter whether they are eating 10x the amount they should or not!

I know what I have to do now and it is all about portion size with me. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that will open a family pack of crisps and eat the lot or have 6 roast potatoes instead of 2 etc. I have lost weight being very careful but I know this weekend off will mean I put back 1-2kg that has taken me like 5-6 weeks to lose! Argh...

BiscuitMachine · 25/06/2018 19:33

Well I was doing really well today until I ate about 500 maltesers...

Thiswontendwell · 25/06/2018 21:10

Monster carbs, alcohol and chocolate! Sounds like my weekend.....
Sooooo - although I was down to 81kg this morning (so another couple of kilos! I leapt off the scales and didn't get on again in case it was a fluke...) I think the excesses of last week will be seen - which is why I'm not weighing myself again for a week....

Summerslimmer - you are going in the right direction overall! Keep it up!

I went for a blood pressure test at the GPs last week and I mentioned that I had lost a few kilo and the nurse was very much of the 'a stone (or even less) lost every six months is more than enough... so any loss is good!

summerslimmer · 26/06/2018 09:06

Thiswontendwell- you're doing so well - great news Smile

I've changed how I'm looking at my 'goals'

My wedding is 19 weeks away now so if I can loose 1lb per week I'll be down to 12st3
And if I could loose 2lb a week I'd be a very happy 10st11!!

I'd be happy at this point with anywhere in between those two weights but it's trying to keep consistent that's my issue, the odd naughty day here and there are really setting me back.
Going to try and up my steps again to a minimum 10,000 a day and not let the lovely weather tempt me to be lazy.

Thank you to everyone on this thread it's lovely having it here to log and motivate!!

milleniumhandandprawn · 26/06/2018 11:48

obi that’s a very sensible way of looking at it.
20lbs is loads and will make a massive difference to your confidence on the day! Confidence is what makes you look amazing in my opinion.

this wont I like your nurse... just wish I’d started 6 months ago!

Anyone else keep wiffling up and down the same 5 lbs? It’s so annoying. I find it quite easy to lose around 4 lbs Monday to Friday and then put it all back on at the weekend.

My own stupid fault, but it’s amazing how quickly (and with relatively little uncontrolled eating) it goes back on!

summerslimmer · 26/06/2018 12:10

Millennium- that's exactly what I'm afraid of- it's work to lose anything and so easy to put it on. It just takes weekend of all the things I like and everything is back to square one. It's hard.

I’m definitely with you summer

I seem to have developed a new addiction. I’m telling myself it’s a healthy one...

Greek yogurt with strawberries and honey. Totally lush and could actually happily eat nothing else all day...

DaffoDeffo · 26/06/2018 17:29

I do exactly that milennium every week!

Well done everyone! The weight losses and health benefits are impressive!

BiscuitMachine · 28/06/2018 08:38

Trying my best this week, but I’ve given up on counting cals, it’s so boring. I’m just trying to be more aware of portion sizes and unhealthy snacking. Short, hilly bike ride last night, off for a longer one this morning before it gets too hot.

BiscuitMachine · 28/06/2018 22:11

10 miles on bike (hot and hilly). Somehow missed lunch. Friday tomorrow, which is always challenging...

DaffoDeffo · 29/06/2018 17:17

I'm also eating greek yoghurt and strawbs - so refreshing in this heat milennium

I went on the boditrax machine and I have a BMR (think it's base metabolic rate) of 1388 cals which means theoretically I can eat that and not put on weight lol or something like that

my weight is dropping, not hugely, but it is going down but I've had a bad few days (nandos, pizza Blush) and that tends to hit a few days later!

compared to what it was like from the 8th May, I've now actually lost around 3.5kg and 4 inches round my waist :)

ObiJuanKenobi · 30/06/2018 08:06

Start weight 13st14
27/05 13st 10
03/06 13st 8.5
10/06 13st 7.5
17/06 13st 6.5
24/06 13st 8
30/06 13st 6.5

Weighing in early today ahead of a hen weekend. Going to try and be really good and feeling motivated again.

So this months total loss is about 7.5lbs which I'm very happy with, I think the big drop after week 1 got my hopes up a little but still pleased with slow and steady now.

summerslimmer · 01/07/2018 10:46

Start weight 11st 9
Today 11st 1 :)

8 pounds off so far and 2 weeks until the end of the 8 weeks.
I'm highly unlikely to hit a stone off but have really improved my eating habits, so will be continuing

Well done Obi, defffo and others who've had a good result this week

DaffoDeffo · 01/07/2018 11:21

that's brilliant summer well done!

summerslimmer · 01/07/2018 11:59

Thanks! This thread has really helped me to stay motivated :)

OP posts:
DaffoDeffo · 01/07/2018 12:55

yes me too and I've learned a lot tbh. I wouldn't have known about boditrax and I've learnt some great diet tips too!

BiscuitMachine · 01/07/2018 13:26

Well done Summer and Obi and anyone else. I’ve put on a pound, despite cycling 30 miles this week. I weighed in this morning though, after a day of overindulgence at a wedding.

ObiJuanKenobi · 01/07/2018 16:34

I've invested in a season ticket to our local zoo this week - keeps the twins busy and entertained and is a good 4 mile walk with some decent hills!!
Went for the 2nd time this week today and hit my 10,000 steps on the way out.

Keep going everyone.

Thiswontendwell · 02/07/2018 19:46

Well done summer and Obi
For me pride has come before a fall and I have put about a kilo on!

Arrrrh!

I think I got complacent as it was all dropping off quite easily. As you say Obi and think slow and steady is the way now. I have another couple of weeks (and a bit). If I could just get down under 80kg before my holiday and the wedding I am going to then I will be very pleased.

And I will come back from my hols and start again....honest!

summerslimmer · 05/07/2018 08:19

How's everyone doing? Hope this week is going well. There's so many ice-cream vans about; it's hard to resist!

OP posts:
summerslimmer · 08/07/2018 08:40

Week 7

I'm now 10 stone 13 Smile I made it back to the tens (just!)

That's 10 pounds off. I'm not gonna make the full stone by next weekend but if I lose another couple of pounds it will be close.

How's everyone else done this week?

OP posts:
DaffoDeffo · 08/07/2018 09:17

I'll weigh myself in a minute but I'm doing ok! really quite pleased.

If I count from the heaviest I was (which was about 2 years ago), I've lost around 14kg. Since doing this with you guys, it's about 4kg but it's exactly what I wanted to do.

Still have a bit of a tum but I'm working on that and my waist is far smaller which was the aim!

I'm very thankful to the thread for the support - I don't think I could have done it without this thread.

I've got an inch or so more I'd like to lose around my tummy but not too bothered if that doesn't impact my weight

I'm away for a week with the dcs and a bit worried that my eating will go all over the place and I'll put all the weight back on! Will need to be super disciplined!
