8 weeks to lose a stone

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

63kg on Monday. 58 kgs on Thursday.57 kgs on Saturday. 62 kgs on Sunday.
Medical grade scales. I feel like I don’t have any control over this. Sickening! I didn’t eat any more than usual.
Thinking of not weighing myself anymore. Or only on Sundays, at least.
Well done to everyone exercising, that is wonderful.
I highly recommend the latest ‘Dear Sugars’ podcast called ‘Trust your Body’ It is all about our preoccupation with our weights and bodies. Xx

DaffoDeffo · 10/06/2018 06:40

Hotel I have a real problem with scales. I have salter non digital ones upstairs which are consistent but I think slightly over weigh. I have Wi-Fi ones downstairs that link to fitbit which I think underweigh but are also inconsistent (can step on twice and get different measurements). I take a sort of average reading. The boditrax machine at gym is half way between the two and that's the one I'm taking as my proper weight!

Haven't been to gym this morning but looking at the salter ones I have lost a little bit.

I am 1.5kg down in total over the 4-5 weeks and that's been a hard slog! But I suppose it is something. Need to keep the momentum up!

BiscuitMachine · 10/06/2018 09:10

Same problem here with scales, they seem inconsistent, my mums weigh heavier than mine. I’m taking it that mine are right! Lost a pound this week, so down to 10 st 2 now. Would have been more but I just can’t contol myself Friday - Sunday. And it’s my daughter’s birthday today and we’re off to an American style diner for a pancake breakfast Blush.

Mumathon · 10/06/2018 09:35

Well, I’ve been a bit annoyed all week as the scales haven’t really been shifting, a slight drop but nothing significant/consistent despite really sticking to my plan. Think I may have solved the mystery though....positive pregnancy test yesterday! Bit shocked and nervous, but excited! Think I’ll be dropping out of the thread for now, won’t be actively dieting but hopefully the last few weeks have given me some healthy habits to keep going. If all goes well I guess I’ll be back on these boards some time next year.

Good luck everyone!

PurpleDaisies · 10/06/2018 09:47

I’m down 2kg in last week which is good. That takes me to where I was before! I’ve got my period so I think there’s a fair bit of bloating weight so hopefully next week will be a big loss.

HotelRoomforOne · 10/06/2018 09:51

Wow mumathon congrats!! Pregnancy is a great time to kick the scales under the bed and leave them there. Eat well and relax! All the best x

ObiJuanKenobi · 10/06/2018 09:55

Start weight 13st14
27/05 13st 10
03/06 13st 8.5
10/06 13st 7.5

Another pound down this week but feel I've a bit half hearted the past two weeks and less active (have been really busy at work and knackered in the evenings) so have set myself goals to swim at least 2 times this week and gym 3 times too. There's no point me setting unrealistic goals or I just feel demotivates half way through the week when I realise there's no chance and so sack it off to 'try again next week'

ObiJuanKenobi · 10/06/2018 09:56

Huge congrats to @Mumathon Thanks

summerslimmer · 10/06/2018 11:18

Some great results this week - well done Smile
Congratulations Mumathon
I've stayed the same this week - not the best result but not the worst either.

I've stayed the same too - I need to stop snacking and start planning meals. Well done to those that lost and fingers crossed for good results next Sunday.

Gymntonic · 10/06/2018 17:50

Congratulations mumathon. I really hope I'm not still on this thread by the time you're ready to lose a few post baby pounds though. However ... Just another quarter pound off this week, so it's a real possibility that I will be.
Need to cut the snacking definitely. Trying to get back to 16/8 too as I snack in the evening mostly

Dottydoodoo · 10/06/2018 20:14

Well done everyone, and congratulations mumathon!

I forgot to weigh myself Blush I’ve been at work all day and by the time I remembered it was weigh in day it was after lunch. Silly Dotty! In all fairness I have not been good this week, so I think I might just skip a week and weigh myself next Sunday. Why is weight loss so hard?!?! I’m not cut out for this!

BiscuitMachine · 10/06/2018 20:48

Congrats mumathon Flowers xx

DaffoDeffo · 10/06/2018 20:52

Congrats mumathon! I have eaten dreadfully today. Crisps, sweets, you name it...hoping for a better day tomorrow!

ObiJuanKenobi · 10/06/2018 21:47

Well I've had a shit day. I'm maid of honour for my friend in the Autumn, destination wedding and it's costing me a fortune which I can't afford and now she's just phoned to see how much weight I'm going to be loosing before then Angry i mean come on that's so rude!? Ok I am planning on loosing weight - hence why I'm on this thread but she didn't know that and I'm not doing it to please some one else!! Urgh I ordered an Indian and made pimms for dinner.

Rant over and breaaaaaaathe..

user1469751309 · 10/06/2018 21:50

Ah congratulations Mumathon what a fab reason to drop out of a diet thread!!!!!
I've lost 1 1/2lbs this week was hoping for more like 2lbs as I have a lot too loose but I'm glad it's something! 9 1/2lbs off now in three weeks. Snacking is my main issue in the evenings I can't help myself and turn into some sort of biscuit fiend!

milleniumhandandprawn · 11/06/2018 14:55

mumathon that’s amazing news!! Congratulations :)

obi that’s outrageously rude of your friend! Does she know you’re on a diet and wants to make sure she orders you the right size? Or is it more - I want you to be skinny in my photos...? One is much wore than the other!

I had a pretty awful Saturday - many breadbased! Yesterday was ok though and I’ve finished my boot camp week 3 3/4 lbs down on the start.
If I can replicate that this week I’ll be chuffed.

I found this meme which is rather too accurate for me...

8 weeks to lose a stone
DaffoDeffo · 11/06/2018 16:13

ha that is brilliant and was very much like my week too Hmm

obi - that's really rude of your friend, just not on! None of her business tbh!

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/06/2018 16:55

@milleniumhandandprawn it's the second Envy it's all very 'for show' never mind much better day today!
Resisted the ice creams and havnt looked twice at the kids tea Grin
Keep going everyone! This thread keeps me going!

HotelRoomforOne · 11/06/2018 17:25

Our thread keeps me going too. If anything's going to work at all, it will be this thread! Got a lot of exercise yesterday carrying my two and a half year old all over town. 'Too big' for a pram, too small to walk any real distance. Ate no chocolate yesterday, feeling the desire for it waining. Things are looking up! Have a great week everyone x

milleniumhandandprawn · 11/06/2018 18:53

Well then that’s outrageous obi!
... tempting to lose loads of weight just to upstage her 😁
I guess inspiration is where you find it!

Have majorly increased my fruit intake today and massively reduced my “other” carbs.
I’m not in the right frame of mind to properly low carb it right now, but I can defo limit the bad ones.
In order to low carb I need sleep and my DD is not playing ball at that 🙄
Currently the 4 month sleep regression has lasted 1.5years....
Am considering a run when I get home. I bought a load of new running gear last Friday. Was meant to be doing the park run with my dad but he had a bit of an accident in then garden Confused and won’t be running for at least a month!

milleniumhandandprawn · 11/06/2018 18:54

Well done hotel! How old is your dc?

milleniumhandandprawn · 11/06/2018 18:54

Ignore that... my 1.5 yo is heavy enough - can imagine that 2.5 must burn of a boatload of calories!

HotelRoomforOne · 11/06/2018 19:48

Hey Prawn yes not getting any sleep makes it so much harder to low carb. Your body needs something else to run on. God, I love sleep. I think the last 5 years of very disrupted sleep has a huge part to play in the weightgain. Hope your DC sleeps better soon. I think wholemeal carbs are great when you're feeling wrecked but want to eat well.
Yes my little one weighs about 12 kgs. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have my five year old running on ahead, all carefree through the city, so Im chasing her holding the little one, will be the same today. Fun but arduous and mega stressful.
Obi that is bad form from your friend the bride! I'd completely shift the emphasis and tell yourself YOU are having a holiday for yourself and you'll swing by the wedding, at whatever size you happen to be! Try to get as much time for yourself during the trip as you can, as a reward for your own hard work!! Weddings..who needs em now Wink

DaffoDeffo · 11/06/2018 21:27

I think I'm going to do the low GI diet. I am worried about doing lchf because of my cholesterol. I know the evidence says it probably won't have an impact but it might have an impact and I don't think I can take that chance. Low gi is sort of low carb but with some carbs that are not high sugar/carb rating. It's still breakfast I'm struggling the most with as I often don't have time to cook eggs.

Stood on the boditrax machine- have lost a bit of weight but put on fat! Which is the opposite to the week before!
