8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Hope your weeks are all going well! I am staring at a few squares of dark chocolate but I suppose at least I haven't opened the wine!

milleniumhandandprawn · 12/06/2018 22:36

hotel crappy sleep definitely plays a big role! As you say - you have to E.J. on something! And for me, if it’s not sleep then I have a real weakness for bread/sugar.

Have had a pretty good couple of days but I do have the DANGER of a long weekend coming up. Including a Father’s Day dinner 😣

Well done on not opening the wine deffo :)

MrsMozart · 12/06/2018 23:02

So sorry all. I've been an abject failure both in terms of keeping on track and being supportive.

Been away for work. Hotel hopping and crap nights' sleep not conducive to anything. The only good thing was two hours of walking a day.

Have gone totally overboard with rubbish diet and wrong foods. IBS playing up. Mouth grumpy from too much sugar. Trying to now reel it all back in.

Will get back to supporting!

summerslimmer · 12/06/2018 23:41

Feeling like such a failure - not doing well enough at limiting carbs/ sugar. I'm at my in-laws for a few days, which I always enjoy but they are brilliant cooks and like to see everyone enjoying their food. It's lovely to not have to do anything and just have a few days to relax - great for the mind but not so much for the body!

I'm so impressed by how well some people are doing. I am not giving up- don't let me!

Don't give up folks!
Keeping my head down and trying to stay on track. My diet has become a bit repetitive but that's not a bad thing - the more I think about food the more I eat😀. Same breakfast every day, limited lunch options , same format for tea. Pays off slowly but not very exciting. Looks like I'm down a pound today from weekend but will see what scales say on Sunday.
I think staying with in-laws who are cooking for you or staying in hotel are both bound to be tricky summer and Mozart - be easy on yourselves and plan for when you get home maybe?
Have rediscovered cycling with a friend and off to Pilates then running club tonight. Trying to focus on other things and let the weight loss happen in its own time.

milleniumhandandprawn · 13/06/2018 11:33

Hi all,
Don’t give up mozart and summer! Even if you don’t lose every week - a week of not gaining is still a victory and you can pick up where you left off.

Am nearly st the end of my self imposed boot camp and am feeling good on it. Am hoping for a good result on Sunday.

gym my diet has also become very formulaic, but it’s easy and I like it and I can make it at work so it’s fine for the time being.
Am desperately fighting off a cold before my 10k race on Friday so today have got buckets of strawberries, blueberries and grapes that are my snacks and am downing berroca... it might work! No sure how I’m going to run if I’m stuffed up with the lurgy!

milleniumhandandprawn · 13/06/2018 15:19

Out of interest do any of you wear a Fitbit?
I’ve noticed that the better I eat the lower my resting heart rate is - and you can literally chart it daily.

Was wondering if it was the same for everyone else?

DaffoDeffo · 13/06/2018 15:25

I wear a fitbit. I think my resting heart rate is more to do with how many hours I sleep and fitness but I'm not sure!

the fitter I am getting, the lower my resting heart rate is becoming

it is now down to 53 on some days.

before I started going to gym, it was mid 60s!

milleniumhandandprawn · 13/06/2018 15:38

daffo
I’ve taken a photo of mine - you can see where I started eating better - it’s like a cliff edge!
Am wondering how low it will go!

DaffoDeffo · 13/06/2018 16:18

incredible!

mine has a few dips and waves in it but it is quite similar!

so maybe it is the eating better as well as the fitness! Will be interesting to see how low it does go.

has your cardio fitness score (if you swipe right, on the next screen) improved or is it the same?

Gymntonic · 13/06/2018 16:34

I suffered a bout of IBS a while back and went onto a low fodmap diet. Rhr dropped ten points literally over night. Since then has been gradually declining as I've become fitter. Have reintroduced most foods now. Can still fluctuate over a day or so for no apparent reason though. Think it might be hormonal. Or the accuracy of the Fitbit maybe?

milleniumhandandprawn · 13/06/2018 16:53

It’s really cool - I do wish that was a graph of my weight though 😂

My cardio fitness score never seems to change - always hovering in the good side of the middle.

Am off to google low fodmap...

I do have my doubts as to the accuracy of the Fitbit - figure it’s probably good for trends though?

MrsMozart · 13/06/2018 16:58

Thank you most kindly folks :)

Body has rebelled against the sugar and the stress (gotta love the clients!). Having Googled I think I have Candida. So, no sugar for me for the foreseeable. Add in a head cold and I'm having a right old whinge.

DaffoDeffo · 13/06/2018 17:01

I love the fitbit Blush - really love the sleep analytics! (or lack of sleep more like!)

poor you Mozart and others who are ill - hope you feel better soon!

DaffoDeffo · 13/06/2018 20:58

I have 4 days now where I have meals out every day argh! I am already dreading weigh in. It took so long for me to lose what I have already and bet it takes 5 mins to put it back on!

milleniumhandandprawn · 13/06/2018 21:32

I love the sleep analytics too - it’s wierd I look at it to tell me whether I’m tired or not 😂

mozart that sound rubbish and you’re well entitled to whinge!

Has the food been nice Daffo? I’ve not been out for dinner for ages. Am gonna put it in my “to do when skinny” list!

Today has been pretty good but not perfect.... they were giving out cornettoes in my office today!

BiscuitMachine · 13/06/2018 21:41

Hi all, I thought I’d better check in, as I’ve kind of dropped out of calorie counting this week (I do this after a couple of weeks, I think I can do it without counting. I can’t). So I’m at the point where I always wobble, think it’s too hard and go back to eating piles of bad stuff. I’ve got hurdles this weekend too, night out Friday, Daughters birthday party Saturday (me eating all leftovers), Father’s Day meal Sunday. Help!!!!!!!! To everyone else struggling: Flowers we can do it!

Dottydoodoo · 13/06/2018 21:42

I have a Fitbit, my heart rate always seems to be high even if I am sitting still Blush I love the sleep analysis I think it’s really clever but I always seem to have a really bad nights sleep or DS would wake up when I’m wearing my Fitbit so I don’t wear it to bed any more!

I have just done a body coach workout, it’s only a beginners one and it’s only 20 minutes but goodness me I am hot, and worn out!

Daffo I hope you enjoy your meals out. It’s so tough when you are trying to be good. I am meeting friends for lunch on Saturday and we always get dessert. I’m going to try and resist!

mrsmozart I hope you feel better soon

Dottydoodoo · 13/06/2018 21:46

biscuitmachine I totally did that at the weekend! Just decided for some reason that I didn’t need to count any more and could eat what I like. I sadly can’t!

milleniumhandandprawn · 14/06/2018 11:57

Morning all!
How’s everyone doing? It’s FREEZING in London today. Which always makes me hungry

buscuit and dotty I’m also at that point. I’ve been boot camping for about 10 days and my brain really wants me to take my foot off the gas and relax. Am going to keep on though - no slacking off this time!
Am also trying to believe that one bad meal/snack isn’t a reason to jack in the whole thing.
As of this morning I’ve lost 7lbs since last Monday so am happy with that.
Obvs there’s some hormonal shizzle involved there but I’ll take the win!

Have been snacking all morning on strawberries - they’re sooooo good and cheap at the minute and packed with vitamin c but barely any calories.

I’ve avoided the birthday cakes that are sitting on the other side of the office (so far anyway!) Grin

Thiswontendwell · 15/06/2018 08:32

Wow - love that graph Millenium ! I am quite inspired to get a Fitbit...
I well and truly fell off the wagon this week but I knew I would do as I was away on holiday with the family - lunches out, wine, big meals in the eve..... I tried to be good but I know I wasnt' really!
Back on track yesterday (just about) and full of purpose (but not calories I hope) today. I haven't weighed myself - will do it at the regular time.
One or two people have said they have noticed that I have lost some weight - now that's motivating (yes, I know Im shallow!) esp since I have only lost about half a stone and given how much I have to lose, it might not be noticeable!
Keep going everyone!

DaffoDeffo · 15/06/2018 11:05

Well 1st meal out I was good but last night was a disaster (lots of wine and cheese and biscuits for pudding argh!). I am away this weekend and I think I'm going to make it a no alcohol weekend because I am tired and it doesn't help with calories. Friends won't be impressed but I can't keep mucking this up!

DaffoDeffo · 15/06/2018 11:05

I am really pleased with my fitbit and find it quite motivating tbh

user1469751309 · 15/06/2018 18:17

My weigh day in Sunday my week has been okish! But could be better I did have a Starbucks the other day but tried to keep the calories down as low as possible so fingers crossed I haven't put any on! Well done to everyone!

Dottydoodoo · 16/06/2018 07:42

I have weighed myself a day early - 1ib off woohoo! I am out for lunch with some friends today and will probably eat too much so I was a bit scared of weighing in after that tomorrow! I have had some really good days this week but a couple of bad ones too (I discovered malteser buttons in the supermarket Blush) so I know I keep saying it but I must be good this week.

Fingers crossed for everyone weighing in tomorrow.
