Hello,
I was wondering how much weight u fellow vlcd people have lost in the space of 10 weeks. I am planning to attend a friends wedding in 10 weeks and am attempting to loose weight. I am abit 5 stone overweight so i am desperate to loose some weight using exante till the wedding.
Looking forward to hearing your success stories.

I would love to be a size 16 MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - that's brilliant. It's all relative isn't it - I was firmly a size 20 but now most are too loose and I'm getting into more of my size 18.

It's amazing that you've done so many weeks (20?). Getting to your goal by Christmas will be brilliant. I'm having to take it one meal, one day at a time. Christmas seems such a long way at the moment - I keep reminding myself how pleased I will be if I stick to this until then...

What is your plan for after the VLCD?

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 01/11/2018 15:26

KingsScorn I haven't made any firm decisions about afterwards but considering a keto diet, I dont want to go back to a high carb diet. It's one thing losing it another keeping it off. I need to find my calorie level afterwards, I'm not someone who can eat 2000 calories a day and maintain, I think it'll be between 1200-1400.

My husband has bought me the most beautiful coat, The 16 fitted perfectly, dh convinced me to buy the 14 cause I'd lose more weight but I think its having a negative effect on me, it feels like pressure to get into it.
I keep thinking I should return it and buy the bigger one. Im rambling, it just on my mind.

KingsScorn · 01/11/2018 16:58

I'm not surprised it's on your mind - that is some pressure, although your DH is almost certainly right that you will fit into it the way you're going. Are you wearing it now, when it is a bit too tight? If you have another coat you can wear then I would also be considering returning it with a view to buying it in a sz 14 when you get there (it may be in the sale then too!).

I'm seriously struggling today (and yesterday) - I've just had my meal pack (that I don't have until 5.30 pm +). Being slightly cold and at a loose end (had to stay in and keep the house fairly cool as having plastering done today) certainly makes this tougher. I'm considering viewing this as a boost and swapping to a LCD (using some packs too)...clinging on though!

KingsScorn · 01/11/2018 17:01

Yes, the keeping it off is a crucial part - one I've only really paid lip service to in the past. I know I definitely can't go back to eating and drinking like I did! I think being strictly plant based, and 95% whole food plants based is the right thing for me as there are motivations beyond my waist line!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 03/11/2018 15:52

KingsScorn how are getting on?

I've found this week really difficult for some reason and completely lost it for the first time, been eating the cookies I made with the children, pea crisps and slices of cheese Blush😟
Asked my dh to help get me back on track, he gave me a little motivational speech, which so far (it's only been a day and a half) has done the trick. Was worried I'd knocked myself out of ketosis, sticks say traces of ketones so fingers crossed I haven't messed up to much.
Think it was nocanoe who asked me to send over my will power, did I accidentally send it cause it certainly deserted me 😆

Hope everyone else is getting on well.

KingsScorn · 03/11/2018 22:18

Hi MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - similar week to you by the sounds of it!

I really struggled on Wednesday and Thursday and on Thursday I decided to swap to a LCD in the evening. I felt fairly bad, hormonal etc. So I ended up having my 4 packs + extra kcals to bring me up to approx 1300 with plenty of carbs too!

On Friday I felt fine in the morning and wanted my porridge pack as normal. Decided to see how to the day went. I was amazed to find that I could easily stick to my four VLCD packs so took this as a sign to continue. Yesterday, and today, have been very easy - possibly due to becoming obsessed with sorting my son's massive lego collection and the realisation that I could have Robinson's special R and stay in ketosis.

Weight loss wise this week has been low (hormonal?) - daily losses have been 0.4, 0.0, 0.4, 0.2, -0.4 (day after LCD day), 0.4....tomorrow is my weekly WI day but I've lost 1.0 lbs so far in six days so unless I get a whoosh tomorrow...

I'm quite pleased in many ways as I've learnt that is ok to listen to my body and have some extra kcals if I am really struggling occasionally (and stay in ketosis - well assume as breath still bad and I haven't been hungry for the last two days), the power of keeping busy, and I can have Robinson's special R!

So we've both turned it around! It doesn't have to be perfect! Onwards and downwards...I'm honestly more pleased with myself for getting back on track than having a perfect week as that's a skill I do really need to learn. Hope you are pleased too - I think it is a real triumph being able to do that!

Your husband did well with the motivational speech. Mine was a loss for words really although trying to be supportive (this was before I decided to swap to the LCD but was clearly a mess!).

Will be back tomorrow with my week 3 WI. Gosh - that was an essay - sorry Blush

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 03/11/2018 22:37

Good luck for tomorrow, will check in to see how you got on.

Is Robinson's R a squash? I've been surprised that I haven't missed having a flavour on my water, rather like it plain now, what has happened to meGrin

I had a quick step on the scales this morning and it showed a loss rather than the gain scales were showing earlier in the week. I look often but only ever count the Wednesday reading.

KingsScorn · 04/11/2018 08:24

I had a mini whoosh so week's WI was better than I thought:

Start: BMI 36.4
Wk 1: BMI 35.0 (-8.8 lbs)
Wk 2: BMI 34.4 (-3.8 lbs)
Wk 3: BMI 34.0 (-2.2 lbs)

Total loss 14.8 lbs (in three weeks)

I'm going to take photos and measurements with every stone loss - so I'll get on with that later!

Feeling hopeful again for the week ahead Smile

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 04/11/2018 10:32

KingsScorn Well done 👏

KingsScorn · 04/11/2018 12:53

Thank you :)

Yes, Robinson's special R is squash. I drink loads of water at work (and will do at home too) but for some reason this half term I stopped drinking so much water and was having too much coffee - found the grapefruit flavour Robinson's special R has stopped all that! I still drink plain water but sometimes it is nice to have something sweeter (and I'm not keen on the very expensive non citric acid water flavourings).

KingsScorn · 04/11/2018 13:03

Oh and my measurements and photos showed very little change (as expected really - it takes a lot to drop a dress size at this weight) - 1 inch off bust, waist and hips. I think I'll notice an increasing change with each stone I lose though...

MrsTWH · 05/11/2018 20:04

I’ve found my people!!
I started the Cambridge Diet almost 2 weeks ago. The first 4 days were awful, but since then I’ve managed to stick to it ok.

I’ve only had my first weigh in, but lost 9lb in the first week! Next weigh in is Thursday. I’m hoping for a 5lb so I can hit my 1 stone loss! But maybe I’m putting too much pressure on myself.
Got 4 stone to lose in total. Almost 1 down!

I am fantasising about burgers quite a lot though Blush

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 05/11/2018 21:47

I'm fantasising about cheese on toast after the cheese on toast for breakfast thread.

KingsScorn · 06/11/2018 19:11

Hi MrsTWH :)

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting that sounds tough! Went shopping with DS today and we bought lots of lovely things I can't have! Meeting friends for a jacuzzi soon thank goodness to get me away from them!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 06/11/2018 20:25

KingsScorn totally my own fault, I never should have opened a thread about food Grin going to have some at Christmas

I've started buying treats for Christmas too, chocolate bomb pudding anyone. I really need to stop thinking and talking about food, especially on a thread where none of us can have these things.

Weigh day for me tomorrow.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 07/11/2018 12:46

Weighed in this morning and it turned out well.3lbs lost 😀 which takes me into the next stone down bracket 😀.

KingsScorn · 07/11/2018 17:15

YAY! That's brilliant MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting well done! Particulary nice to be in the next stone bracket down too Smile

I had a NSV today - I wore a pair of sz 18 Boden trousers to work that I bought over a year ago when I was still in denial about being a sz 20 (I then ordered the sz 20 and have just thrown them out due to wear so this is good timing!), and didn't sent back. I tried them on a week ago and there was no way I could have worn then then - still way too tight! Now fit really well!

Good luck with your WI tomorrow MrsTWH

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 07/11/2018 22:42

Thanks KingsScorn

It's a great feeling getting into clothes that were too small. Dh came home today and said you look so small now, I was very Grin in reality I'm not small by any stretch of the imagination but I am in comparison to where I started. He said even my hand felt smaller.

Years ago I went to weight watchers and there was a women there who had reached target and came to group each week as a maintainer-gold member. Whenever there was an event like Christmas or a holiday she would lose extra weight in preparation for the inevitable gain she was about to have, I'm getting ahead of myself a bit but it always stuck me as a excellent idea.

Good luck for tomorrow's weigh in MrsTWH

paranoiamumma · 08/11/2018 08:03

Hey not sure if you remember in Oct I was struggling with the fact I hadn't weighed myself and was now worried to weigh ,
I had lost 31lbs in roughly 6 weeks,
Well I am due to start the refresh program , so I finally jumped on the scales 😬
And in 15 weeks I had lost another 3 st 4 lb So I thought I would let you know how I got on ,
Now I am honing yo start the refers with a gentle veg and protein approach , wish me luck

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 08/11/2018 10:45

Wow paranoiamumma that's great. Well done

The refresh program, haven't heard of that, is it a maintenance phase?

MrsTWH · 08/11/2018 11:57

Great work everyone!

So my week 2 WI today - 5lb! So hit 1 stone loss in 2 weeks, which I’m so pleased with. Obviously it will settle into 3lb ish per week give or take. But that’s ok. Another stone or so by Xmas will be great.

Yesterday I really struggled and wanted real food. Snaffled a pack of lean ham (100cal). Craving veg though?!

KingsScorn · 08/11/2018 13:12

Yes, I think that people who maintain their healthy weight do have strategies to do so (whether they realise it or not). All of my local friends are slim - the closest two are a size 6-8 (admittedly they are shorter than me but even so ...quite a contrast!). Even the talls ones are a sz 10. They all definitely make adjustments - e.g. if they know they are going out for a meal cut down the day before, don't eat much during that day, cut down the day afterwards or one is really strict with herself during the week but pretty much has whatever she wants at the weekend. I can definitely see where I have been going wrong observing them MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting Grin.

Well done on continuing to lose paranoiamumma and good luck with your refresh program! I would be interested to know what that is too.

Congratulations MrsTWH - amazing start! Some days are pretty hard with food cravings - thankfully the ones that aren't make up for them. What plan are you doing? You are allowed 200g of veg/day (restricted - not any type) on slim and save - admittedly it would be nice to have more but I would really struggle without it.

Peachypips · 08/11/2018 16:17

Hi all. Am doing Exante and see that this is the most active thread on VLCDs.

Well done on all your losses- I think you are all amazing! I am on day 4 and finding it very hard- I want real food and I'm tired, hungry and nauseous. I'm trying to think of it as a day at a time- just get through today.

I have 2st 7 to lose. Weighing on Mondays.

Will continue to use this thread for inspiration!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 08/11/2018 17:51

Hang in there Peachypips it does get much easier once you get through the first week.

MrsTWH well done 👍that's great, the initial period of rapid losses is what kept me going.

My engagement ring fits, I haven't even tried to put it on for years. It's great to have it on, wedding ring still too tight.

paranoiamumma · 09/11/2018 07:02

It meant to read refeed,
It's basically a diet where you reintroduce food as I followed a complete vlcd no food what so ever.
Day 1 is a shake for 2 meals and a moderate bowl of salad there a list of veg your allowed and a 4 -6 oz protein tuna chicken or turkey
Day 2 is the 1 shake and 2 meals same as above
Day 3 as day 2 but with 8oz of potato mashed. It no fat you may use low fat yoghurt, baked ,boiled
Day 4 - 7 Same as 3 but introduce 3 portions of fruit , and 2 small portions of whole meal bread,

I am planning on extending it slightly making day 1-2 the same
Day 3-4 my actual day 2
Day 5-6 my day 3
Day 7-8 my day 4 just because I struggle to lose weight and I still have two stone to get off , but I wanted to refeed successfully before I have Xmas ( if I left it too late I run the risk of getting greedy 😂)
