Hello,
I was wondering how much weight u fellow vlcd people have lost in the space of 10 weeks. I am planning to attend a friends wedding in 10 weeks and am attempting to loose weight. I am abit 5 stone overweight so i am desperate to loose some weight using exante till the wedding.
Looking forward to hearing your success stories.

@Minnie - oh wow, your photo is so damned impressive! Im delighted for you - and very envious! Wink

My plans for restarting exante time in Dec came to nought. I've had a virus for last 4 weeks so not eating much anyway. Sad
Beginning to come out the other side, so thinking of commencing next week.

I was just checking in to see how you were getting on now you've restarted KingsScorn, you probably won't see this now but I wish you the best of luck going forward. Take care.

I'm doing my NY resolutions and I've decided leaving MN is going to have to be one of them.

Whilst I don't post much (apart from this thread) I spend way, way too much time reading other threads and it has become unhealthy and unproductive.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - Thank you for all your support! I am 'zeke' on myfitnesspal if you use that site. I am making a more serious effort to 'get back on' today having got rid of all the food I needed to now. Congratulations again on such a successful 2018 weight-loss wise. I wish you continued success in removing the Christmas pounds on maintenance and a very happy 2019!

WI day...gained 2.8 lbs since last Sunday

I've gained 5.6 lbs in the 10 days I've been off plan and I'm 6 lbs above my lowest point and I'm really not further forward towards getting back on plan. I know this will come off in the first week and it is mainly 'water weight'.

Hopefully, there will be more positive news next Sunday!

Things are going...badly!

I miss being in ketosis and feeling slimmer...but clearly not enough.

Today was the first day I haven't gained since coming off but I haven't made any real steps towards getting back on either. I'm on the gin and a very nice clementine tonic now.

I knew this would be hard! Maybe my offical WI day on Sunday will bring about a more convincing effort...

Hope Christmas went well!

I am, somehow, going to start the process of getting back on tomorrow. I expect it to take several days and I really want to be back on 100% by NYD. I still think the VLCD is the right thing for me as I am really looking forward to not having to think about food choices!

I feel pretty grim now and I'm 5.2 lbs up from where I was this time last week (I am assuming that 90% of that is water weight that will come off quickly...). DH has poured me a glass of prosecco - it isn't going down well - I take that as a sign that I've had enough now. I know this isn't going to be easy...

Merry Christmas MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting!

I am about 95% better, thank you. Still have an occasional mild cough but pretty much better. I had put down the lethargy and complete lack of motivation down to the cold but having read your post now...it may well be the food or that isn't helping anyway. DH got the cold a few days after me but he is suffering with his ears/sinuses too so we're not a great team on the Christmas enthusiasm front. Thankfully we've opted for a quiet Christmas so it is just us and no hosting.

Just dawned on me that I didn't WI today. I've gained every single day since I came off so I dare say today would be no different. I'm pretty much eating what I want but at the same time feel that I will be ready to get back on it within the next day or so.

Teen DC not up yet! I might get dressed and do a little bit of the housework I've been putting off for weeks!

Hi KingsScorn

Today's the first day I've started to feel 'normal' I've been so lethargic and grumpy and just blugh. I feel like its taken some time for my body to get used to bring fuelled by glucose again rather than fat.

I had my first alcohol last night and had a headache this morning which may or may not be the wine (I've had so many headaches lately its had to tell)

I'm going to stay off the scales I think till I'm done with Christmas, I hopped on yesterday and the number was not good, 3.5lb gain.

Are you better now?

Report
KingsScorn · 23/12/2018 08:03

I'm completely out of Ketosis now and have had alcohol the last two nights.

Thursday I had packs as normal + extras
Friday I had packs 1 and 2 as normal and then what I wanted
Saturday I had pack 1 as normal and then what I wanted from lunch

I haven't had enough alcohol to give me a hangover but I've really noticed how it affects my sleep and energy levels the next day having not had a drink for so long.

Today is my official WI day and I've gained 2.8 lbs this week (due to not losing anything for the first half and the coming off plan the second half). It is uncomfortable seeing the scales going in this direction...hopefully I will get it off again in a flash when Christmas is over!

Went down 0.2 lbs today (despite the carbs last night) and stomach ache didn't develop so got away with that.

Not set plan today other than do what my body tells me to do. I am thinking that will probably be packs and normal + a nice salad (what I keep craving!) and maybe a few sweet potato fries. My body is used to having small amounts of food so I want to stick to that this coming week.

I've come round to thinking that this is a good time - just before I break into sub 190/just before 2.5 st loss - to have the weeks break so that I am really motivated with a couple of key mini goals to get back on. Still worried though! Bottom-line is that it is 100% down to me what I do and I am in control of that.

Thank you MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting

I decided to start the process of coming off this evening, rather than wait until Sunday. I didn't make particularly wise choices (one slice of bread with peanut butter, an extra VLCD bar and a couple of crispbreads) due to not planning it at all and have a very mild stomach ache now. I decided that I would like to have some alcohol at our meal out on Sunday so have to be out of ketosis by then.

Tomorrow I think I will have packs as normal up until the afternoon when I've been shopping. Can't say I enjoyed the bread and peanut butter as much as I thought I would. I'll be getting in healthier things tomorrow.

How do you feel today?

KingsScorn

I stalled in weeks 11 and 18, try not to get disheartened, it frustrating that its happened now but theres still time between now and Sunday. Even though I weigh frequently I dont count a mid week weigh in, only on official weigh day.

The carb thing was way too much all at once and the worst possible type. Low gi carbs initially is what you need to bring you without negative effects.

Report
KingsScorn · 20/12/2018 07:39

Ugh @ the reaction to the carb increase! Wise move I think to come off now (it is the 20th of December after all!) and get yourself carb ready for Christmas. It made sense to come off on your last WI before Christmas anyway.

Well done on the 1 lb loss this week!

My losses this week are...predictably disappointing (double whammy of being mid-cycle (always my slowest weight loss time) and 9/10 weeks in (I always seem to stall a bit here))...so far:

-0.4, 0.0, 0.0, +0.4 = 0.0!

Maybe I'll get a whoosh but my doable goal of getting to 2.5 st loss is looking dubious now (need to lose another 1.6 lbs). I'll be dragging myself through these next three days...

Given what you've said I should probably start coming off now but I think I need to hit 10 weeks exactly for the sake of it. I shall be avoiding carbs at the first meal out that breaks the diet now after your experience.

Hope you feel better today!

Lost 1 lb this week.

I've copied and pasted my post from the other thread, apologies if you've already seen it.

Fell off the wagon last night, dd1 was having nachos with cheese and thought in my stupid wisdom that I'd just have a side plate serving, well that turned into 2 plates and half a bag of maoam's, went to bed feeling sick and with a splitting headache, still have the headache.

I forgot that we're meant to increase carb intake slowly. I well and truly messed that up.
(Not that I thought a ton of maoam's was the right way grinblushconfused)

I must have kicked myself out of ketosis now so not going to try and get back in before Christmas, instead I'm going to increase my carbs to a moderate level so the rich desserts etc dont induce this awful headache during Christmas.

You can definitely do it MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - you've done so much already - I completely understand the worry of 'getting back on it' though.

This is such an easy diet in many ways but sooooo hard in others!

There will be a lot of people, I imagine, trying to get into ketosis in the new year - hopefully there will be a lot of support and distraction going on here to help us.

I know I need to do another 10+ week stint to get me to my big goals (BMI sub 25 and size 14 ). Exciting to be so 'close' now but overwhelming to be so far away at the same time...one day at a time...

Still no idea how I will manage Christmas eating/drinking but then I still don't have the tree up because I still haven't cleaned properly because I still have a cold and a ton to do for work!

KingsScorn I do or did want to lose extra to cover the inevitable Christmas gain but took few weeks longer than expected to get to goal, not that I'm complaining. Not going to happen now.

I'm nervous about after Christmas, will I be able to get back on it after the over indulgence. Hope so.

I'm going to set myself a series of mini goals after Christmas,
1 lose Christmas gain
2 fit comfortably into a 14. I'm in some 14s and some 16s at the moment. Not aiming for a weight as such but may need to set one because I need the solidness of something to aim for, a size is to fluid for me

Thank you MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - long may it continue.

I'm still trying to mentally prepare for the challenge of the Christmas break. Shouldn't really be dreading it should I?! Just trying to imagine how pleased I will be when I am completely back in ketosis and have lost the Christmas gain - that will be a happy day!

How has your week been so far? I know you're at goal but you mentioned trying to lose more this week in preparation for Christmas?

1 week to go now (of this phase):

Start: BMI 36.4
Wk 1: BMI 35.0 (-8.8 lbs)
Wk 2: BMI 34.4 (-3.8 lbs)
Wk 3: BMI 34.0 (-2.2 lbs)
Wk 4: BMI 33.5 (-3.4 lbs)
Wk 5: BMI 33.0 (-2.6 lbs)
Wk 6: BMI 32.5 (-3.4 lbs)
Wk 7: BMI 32.0 (-2.8 lbs)
Wk 8: BMI 31.3 (-4.6 lbs)
Wk 9: BMI 31.0 (-1.8 lbs)

Total loss = 33.4 lbs/2 st 5.4 lbs/15.2 Kg/14.9% (in nine weeks)

I need to lose 1.6 lbs next week to hit my 2.5 st target so looking good for that. I weigh in lbs so I am also looking forward to seeing a weight in the 180s (I am 190.6 lbs today) this week...it has been a long time!

In food break week (which I am doing week 11 rather than week 13 due to Christmas) I am supposed to add in more milk (up from 150 ml to 568 ml); more veg (up from 200 g to 300g) and have 2 small pieces of fruit a day. I'm not following that 100% but worth remembering that I am just supposed to go up a bit...to around 1000 kcals and 125g of carbs.

I need to think about this more. Right now it is pretty irritating that I have to break this at all - I am very worried about not getting back on afterwards! Maybe I will follow it more closely that I had originally planned...

Thank you MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - yes, I think so. Hope you are continuing to hold it off!

Had a bit of a NSV yesterday - found another two tops in my wardrobe that fit now (size 16) AND I feel like I can tuck tops in now, which is more slimming in itself.

Irritatingly it seems like my size 18 work trousers were all on the generous size (clearly bought when I was in denial about being a size 20 I suppose) and are now too big/getting too big but I am way off being a size 16 (I tried again yesterday - I've got a few pairs). I've got a week at work left then two weeks off before I got back in the new year...with three straight weeks on the VLCD I would have a chance of getting in the size 16s ready for the january start but with that pesky break...probably not! Oh well. Nice problem to have I guess...I am so looking forward to getting in those size 16s! I'm not going to buy new, smaller, size 18s or big 16s though! Guess I'll have to go baggy for a week or two.

I've got some goals that I REALLY want to meet coming up soon, that I won't meet before this initial ten weeks is up, namely:

  • BMI sub 30 - need to lose another 6.4 lbs
  • Definite Size 16 - need to lose another 10-14 lbs at a guess

I hope they provide enough motivation to keep my consumption modest over my week off and 100% back on a week later!

If someone else doesn't do it then I think I may start a new thread just before NYD that has a more inclusive title (maybe NC to start it so it's not about 'me') - so any time-frame, stage (thinking about it to maintainer), plan (SnS/exante/cambridge/LL etc) - just everything VLCD I guess.
