Hello,
I was wondering how much weight u fellow vlcd people have lost in the space of 10 weeks. I am planning to attend a friends wedding in 10 weeks and am attempting to loose weight. I am abit 5 stone overweight so i am desperate to loose some weight using exante till the wedding.
Looking forward to hearing your success stories.

Better than a gain Minnie, I think sometimes a rubbish week can make you more determined to not do it again because it makes you feel so crap.

I had my week 1 weigh in yesterday and have no idea how much I lost, I've asked to find out every 4 weeks, I always get a low loss on weeks 3, 7, 11 etc so this way I won't know about it and it can't demotivate me.
My consultant said it was a really good loss though and also good inch loss so I'm pleased.

Canoe, Ant Middleton used to be my celebrity crush until I found out he's only 5'8" tall!

NoCanoe · 11/10/2018 23:03

MrsDean - that's not put me off at all! Im 5ft 1.5 inches.....so still good!

I've had crap week. In hospital. Came out and drank my weight in beer! Hic!

I'm back to focusing on Ant Middleton tomorrow.

DH queried whether I could drink him under the table. Blush

In my defence, I was depressed. End of. No apologies. No excuses. I did it.

NoCanoe · 11/10/2018 23:04

And if Ant Middleton was under the table, I'd find myself there too!

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 13/10/2018 22:45

oh no, hope you're feeling better now and back to your Ant fantasies, he did a programme about a sailing journey, I can't remember the name but he was topless a lot which was nice Grin

How's everyone getting on over the weekend?

I'm still in my honeymoon phase so not craving "real" food yet, I was so tempted to weigh myself this morning but didn't cave, I'm excited to (hopefully) hear a high number of lbs lost when I find out on week 4.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 17/10/2018 08:17

Good loss for me this week.

3.5lb off, that takes my total to 59.5lb

Very happy Grin

KingsScorn · 21/10/2018 21:16

That's brilliant MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - Well done!

What did you decided to do when you got to 12 weeks (I scrolled back a bit and saw your post then)? Did you take a food break?

I've only done a week (but I did 10 weeks 6 years ago and want this time to be very different after that) but want to have a plan for that now! Ten weeks will take me up to 23rd Dec...I was planning on taking a very controlled break then but I am worried. If I can manage it I think I would be better off just ploughing straight through Christmas still on the VLCD.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 21/10/2018 22:08

KingsScorn thank you.

I just kept going. I do food week every 4th week, I wasn't sure what to do because most things I'd read said only to do this type of plan for 12 weeks but exante's literature says as long as you do food week every 4th week you can keep going until you reach goal weight.
It's been working so well for me I didnt want to stop.
I'm not sure what I'm doing about Christmas yet. Ive been talking to dh about it, I should be at goal by then and would like to be able to drink, so currently thinking of stopping for Christmas and restarting afterwards to lose anything I gain but it makes me a bit nervous tbh, I think partly why this has worked for me is the routine, once that broken I can find it difficult to get back on board so to speak.
Good luck

KingsScorn · 22/10/2018 14:31

Thank you MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting - I am thinking I will do the same however I'm doing slim and save and we don't have 4 week food breaks (although nothing to stop me doing it).

My average day is:

7.30 am - Porridge pack
12.30 - 2 pm - Chocolate shake
5.30 - 6.30 pm -meal pack + 200g veg (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower)
8.30 - 9.30 pm - bar
All day - up to 250 ml cashew milk (same carbs and calories as 150 ml skimmed milk)

This is 725 Kcal and 72g carbs approx - I got on to and maintain Ketosis fine with this level of carbs.

S&S total food replacement break in week 13 is simply:

Increase skim milk from 150 ml up to 568 ml
2 x small fruit
increase veg up to 300g

This increases the calories up to approx 1000 kcal and the carbs up to approx 125 g

Sounds REALLY hard! Bound to come out of ketosis and I failed to do refeed properly last time I finished (did a ten week VLCD 6 years ago) due to the increased hunger (so decided to go onto slimming world instead).

Read somewhere recently about a man who did a VLCD continuously for a year and was completely fine.

I know, I know...I'm only in week two...

KingsScorn · 22/10/2018 14:46

Just coming back to this again! I WILL do a food break. Think I would be foolish not to. I'll try to do what they recommend but if I find it too hard will just eat WFPB (whole foods plant based) until I am ready to transition back on again. It makes sense for me to do the food break after ten weeks (Christmas break when I have more time to cook) and transition back on for New year.

I'll go back to concentrating on being 100% for the next nine weeks!

Sorry for all my waffling!

NoCanoe · 23/10/2018 14:43

Well done Minnie - your will power is through the roof! Care to send some my way?? Or just a kick up my miserable failing lardy arse?

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 23/10/2018 20:09

Thank you NoCanoe, don't be too hard on yourself, you've been in hospital haven't you.

This diet has done exactly what I needed. Once I see and feel the weight coming off it spurs me on to keep going, so results equal results.

I never thought I'd get on with this, when I started I didn't think I'd even manage 4 weeks and only intended to use it as a kick start to weight lose.

The threads have helped keep me on track too.
This ones gone quite quiet lately.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 24/10/2018 14:45

Lost 3lb this week. Very happy.

I set my initial goal at 4stone 5lb, I reached that today Shock I've adjusted my goal down now, still got more to lose so going to keep going.

Thank you NoCanoe and KingsScornBlush

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 25/10/2018 17:14

Hi everyone,
Minnie you're doing so well, it must be an amazing feeling to reach goal, how much lower have you moved it?

I've been spending my online time on the Cambridge facebook page, it's really busy on there and has been keeping me focused especially the before and after photos.

I've done 3 weeks and lost 13lbs on their scales but 17lbs on mine (first thing and starkers!)

I'm due on now though and so cranky, cold and want to eat chocolate, it'll pass though.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 26/10/2018 15:12

MrsDeanWinchester75

Thank you. I've moved my goal 12lb down at the moment and will reassess when if I reach it. My BMI when I started was 37.8, my first goal BMI was 27.7 so I'm still well in to the overweight category but I've not been set on getting below 25 because I must be healthier now than when I started.
Will judge my final goal when weight loss stabilises.

Hope you're getting on ok with it.

KingsScorn · 28/10/2018 06:32

WI Day for me:

Start: BMI 36.4
Wk 1: BMI 35.0 (-8.8 lbs)
Wk 2: BMI 34.4 (-3.8 lbs)

Total loss 12.6 lbs (in two weeks)

Really pleased with that!

No idea how long I will stay on a VLCD for - Ten weeks take me up to 23rd December and obviously 12 weeks is throughout Christmas. Eight weeks is probably the most sensible followed by a proper refeed and then straight on to a calorie counted WFPB (whole food plant based) diet. I've said a minimum of six weeks so I guess I'll just focus on getting there.

I have a lot of weight to lose (5 st to get me to the top of the healthy range) so this will be a campaign on many phases. I worried about loose skin so might have to be quick, slow, quick, slow until I get there (Trying to just do the slow route the whole way was getting me no where though - I need this quick boost at the start!).

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 28/10/2018 11:08

That's great Kings, there's quite a lot of people on the Cambridge forum who have lost 5+ stones and loose skin is something they worry about, it seems most of them naturally tighten up, there are a few who have had tummy tucks but they've lost a lot more weight.

You've got a great attitude towards your weight loss, I'm much more impatient, I'm hoping to lose 4 stone in 4 months and get it over with.

I'm not sure what to do over Christmas, it's also my husband's 50th on the 18th and we've arranged a Chinese meal out with friends, my plan at the moment is to eat chicken and rice at the Chinese and for Christmas have turkey and veg with no potatoes.

KingsScorn · 28/10/2018 12:24

Thank you MrsDeanWinchester75 Smile

Your plan to cope with Christmas and your husband's 50th sound really good.

I'm not sure I am that patient really. I've got a spreadsheet with multiple tabs - one of which is a predictor as to what weight I will be every week for the next year if I lost 3.5/3.0/2.5/2.0/1.5/1.0/0.5 lbs a week! Then another with different scenarios...one of which is staying on the VLCD for 16 weeks.

I am an appallingly bad yo-yo dieter but the last four years have really taken their toll - only vague attempts to lose weight so a general rise upwards and upwards - with back and feet problems. Before I started the VLCD I changed some eating habits long term - cutting out meat and dairy and reducing oil so my weight stopped rising (I didn't cut out the major thing - white wine!). I really don't think I will ever go back to eating meat and dairy.

It is interesting how now when I think of what lovely food I can have when not on it it is a vegetable tagine or a lovely, low fat, vegetable curry. I think my tastes have changed so I am hoping this time I can get down and stay down. Alcohol is an issue for me so I think I should only introduced that with controls once I am at goal.

KingsScorn · 28/10/2018 12:32

Oh and on the loose skin thing...

I've gone from 210 lbs down to 162 lbs before pretty quickly and no loose skin. Not sure what 224 lbs down to 154 lbs (BMI 25) or even 128 lbs (BMI 21) will be like though! Oh for the days when I started a diet at 154 lbs and ten weeks on weight watchers would have me feeling fab!

Good to hear that it tightens a bit even if there is some!

I can't lose all the weight I want to lose in 12 or even 16 weeks so it makes sense for me to have a LCD break. I might do 8 weeks VLCD/8 weeks LCD and repeat until I get there. I think ahead too much though - I just need to get through each day and the rest will happen!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 31/10/2018 11:38

Lost 1lb this week.
I'm happy with that, up to yesterday my scales were showing a gain, happy with any loss.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 31/10/2018 23:16

Had my week 4 weigh in and lost another 3lbs, I'm feeling very focused again now, my period really messes with my head, I get hungry and the willpower wanes but I'm glad I didn't cave and have 3 hormone free weeks ahead to hopefully shift at least another 7lbs.

I love the sound of your spreadsheets king, this dieting lark really does become an obsession, my mind won't switch off at night planning new outfits and what I could possibly weigh by a certain date.

Minnie good to hear you had another loss too, you'll soon reach your new goal and it'll be lovely for you having a slim Christmas and not needing to set a 'lose weight ' new years resolution.

KingsScorn · 01/11/2018 10:10

Well done MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting and MrsDeanWinchester75!

I'm finding this week fairly hard - it may be that I'm on the edge of ketosis rather than firmly in it so I'm going to track my total carbs/calories on MFP (it is the coke zero, hartleys sugar free jelly, cashew milk, oxo cube drink that need totally and watching I think) and try to up the plain water intake. It's not really bad and I haven't slipped but mind keeps wandering to how long I can carry on for. It is also half-term which doesn't help as I have a lot more free time!

I definitely feel like I had lost weight now though with some clothes becoming too big and some smaller clothes becoming wearable again so that is motivating!

Messing with my spreadsheet and looking at clothes online keeps me going in the hard times if I cannot get out of the house!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 01/11/2018 12:49

Thanks MrsDeanWinchester75 and KingsScorn

Well done on your loss MrsDeanWinchester sorry if I've missed it, what's your total loss now?

Ive really enjoyed trying on old clothes that now fit. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 16 currently (I know that's still big but it's great progress) Buying clothes had become a case of what looked least bad because nothing looked good, clothes now actually look good and thats a odd feeling, not something I'd normally say.

I'm struggling more now and the losses are definitely slowing down. I need to find a way to keep focused. Its 7 weigh ins till Christmas and I've got 9.5lb to go till I reach my revised goal weight. Want to try and get there by Christmas🌲
