Day 3 on Exante and it was impossible at lunch today as I was in an all day catered meeting. In the North this basically means not a fruit or vegetable in sight at the lunch buffet! Managed to not be tempted by all the cake/pastries with coffee (I just drank water), but lunch was a nightmare - it was all pies, fried buffet food with potato wedges. The only veg was coleslaw 😲. How do others managed in this sort of situation?

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 10/07/2018 17:34

DrOnWheels that must have been hard but well done on not having any of the buffet. I haven't been in that situation myself.
Maybe if you know you're going to be in the same situation again you could take a meal replacement bar with you

DrOnWheels · 10/07/2018 19:21

Minnies I did have the buffet as I had to eat something. I avoided the fried/baked goods and stuck to chicken with a side of coleslaw and pickled onions (a very unsual lunch!) - I would have been happier with chicken and a salad! I would invest in the bars if they were savoury, I've always found them a bit sweet.

Hi just wondering if anyone can recommend a good vitamin for hair? I did cambridge 10 years ago and remember my hair loss was quite bad after 3 months of 3 packs a day. Started exante yesterday but want to start taking something to hopefully prevent/lessen the possible hair loss. Thanks

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 11/07/2018 08:33

Lost 2lb this week.
5 weeks, 21lb total.

Sorry DrOnWheels I must have misunderstood Blush

Ronnyhotdog · 11/07/2018 08:51

minnie well done. We seem to be losing at the same rate.
I hope you don’t mind me asking but how much more do you want to lose? I was hoping to lose 2st then switch to 2 shakes & a meal but I think I might change next week regardless. Issues with my stomach are getting me down.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 11/07/2018 11:17

Ronnyhotdog I've set my current goal at 61lb, so 40lb to go but I was only planning on doing this for 8-12 weeks, think I'll do 12 weeks as its easier than I imagined, also not having any stomach problems like you are. I did have intense stomach pains for a couple of days in week 2 but not sure if it was connected to the diet.

I know I won't lose all of it in the in that time, after 12 weeks I was going to slowly increase my calories week by week and transition onto a healthy eating plan.

I only ever intended this to be a jump start to weight loss. I tend to lose focus on diets very quickly unless I can actually see and feel a change, clothes are loser and can see it in my face so very happy with it.

I set a very conservative goal, to be honest I'd still have another 2 stone to lose after I reach the 61lb mark but if I could get to that it would be a huge improvement.

I already make my own evening meal within 200 calories. So like you're thinking of moving to.

Ronnyhotdog · 11/07/2018 12:05

mickey Thanks you, good to know you’re still losing with the meal too. I did lose in week 4 when I did 5 days food week.
I struggle to stick to a diet plan, this is the longest I’ve stuck at anything. I only planned to do it until my holiday, I wanted to feel as good about myself as possible. I’m sick of always feeling the need to cover up & hide even if it’s red hot. I can’t remember the last holiday when I actually got in the pool or sea.
I do feel it’s rejigged my brain, I’m not constantly obsessing about what can I eat next, what’s in the kitchen, where should I buy my lunch from.
Think you’ve settled it for me to add food from next week Smile

OhHolyFuck · 11/07/2018 14:33

Hello,

I've been lurking for a while but ordered some exante which turned up yesterday so today is my first day - started with the golden syrup porridge, not a great start!

emzie78 · 12/07/2018 09:31

I lost 2.5lb so 21 lb in 5 weeks. We are all doing very similar, which is fab. My other half has lost 31lb in just over 4 weeks but men do tend to lose it quicker.

I am 14 st 6 so technically to be in a healthy category I have to be around 10 stone. Which would be great. Next mini target is to be in the 13 stone range as I can't remember the last time I was there.

Carry on with the great work 😀😀😀

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 12/07/2018 11:00

emzie78 that's great, well done.

OhHolyFuck · 12/07/2018 14:09

What products do people recommend on exante?

Had the golden syrup porridge and the carbonara yesterday, both of which I though were awful

Had the mint chocolate and the cookies and cream shake and the chocolate crunch and raspberry and white chocolate bars - they were ok

DrOnWheels · 12/07/2018 15:22

Some of the formulas have been changed and so taste different to my last time on Exante.

I really like most of the shakes and smoothies: mint chocolate, banana smoothie, toffee caramel.
Soups taste like a cup o soup and are quite filling: chicken and leek, Thai curry.

Problem with soup is they need blending well otherwise are prone to being lumpy.

I find all the bars and most of the other food too sweet. Breakfast eggs I add chives, herbs, salt and pepper to and it's ok. I love the salt and vinegar crisps - I think I might have to order a box of 50!

I'm convinced part of Exante is that the flavour is slightly off. So the food is tolerable and filling but not enjoyable. If it was enjoyable to eat perhaps there would be the risk of overeating/binging packs?

Ronnyhotdog · 12/07/2018 19:32

emzie that’s brilliant well done.

ohholy I don’t like any of the meal type things. I like all shakes but not smoothies.
Bars I like most of the oaty type ones, the cookies are awful.

I think I’m going to have to stop with the exante. For some reason after 5 weeks it’s triggered horrible stomach problems that I can’t keep on with. I’ve felt really poorly this week. I’ve had days where I’ve not eaten because I’ve been at work and didn’t want to be rushing to the loo.

If it’s ok though I’d like to stick around keep in touch with how you’re all doing and keep myself in track?

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 12/07/2018 20:25

OhHolyFuck

I dont like the meals except the pot ones black bean and the other one is Indian lentil dahl.

The shakes I find too sweet, I dilute them a bit more. Best shake for me is the plain chocolate, but I haven't tried them all. I really didn't like the cookies and cream shake and the choc orange doesn't taste of orange.
I like the choc orange bar and the white choc raspberry bar. Didn't think much of the lemon bar but the lemon pancakes are nice.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 12/07/2018 22:49

I started weaning off exante last sat and finished yesterday so today was my first day with absolutely no exante products, just normal food . I'm still trying to stay as low carb as possible and found having to choose and prepare my own food was scary, the best bit about exante is that it's calorie and carb counted for you so there is no accidental (or otherwise) overeating . I was terrified I'd put weight on refeeding but in fact I lost 2kgs instead which really surprised me. That made 17kg overall since I started (first week in may) 2st 9 lbs which I'm very happy with. I'm going on holidays shortly and I am expecting to put a little on but I'm hoping to stay sensible and not go overboard. If I do put more than a couple of pounds on then I'll go back on exante for a few weeks.

moomin11 · 14/07/2018 14:26

That's really reassuring, I did wonder how you are meant to transition after finishing exante.

Can you really get crisps?? I haven't seen those.

DrOnWheels · 14/07/2018 18:49

Yeah I'm on the 'man plan' so 3 Exante meal replacements plus I can add 200cal from low carb veg or snacks. Their crisps are low carb and super filling m.exantediet.com/diet-products/exante-salt-vinegar-protein-crisps/11145390.html

moomin11 · 14/07/2018 23:10

Ah ok I'm doing the total solutions at the moment but will give them a go when I change it up a bit - thanks.

DrOnWheels · 15/07/2018 09:58

Exante 'man plan' weigh in week 1:
I've lost 3.5lbs which I'm really happy about as I'm am not finding it difficult to stick to this diet. I'm surprised to say that some days it is really hard to actually include the extra 200cal/day on top of the 3 packs as I don't feel hungry. For me being at work poses the biggest challenge as often i'm at conferences/meetings with buffet food that lacks sensible low carb options and there is an office culture of cakes/treats etc with coffee in the office. Although as someone pointed out above having the Exante bars/cookies/crisps etc could be my food replacement at these events and I can use them to prevent the temptation of office snacking. The major inconvenience is the substantial lack of stock and slow delivery times from Exante!

Re my weigh in: I should add that I am a wheelchair user and so I have an extremely low energy expenditure accross a day and am limited in the excercises that I can do (often they have to be adapted). I wouldn't expect to achieve the typical weekly loss that many report. My journey will be very very slow to get to a normal BMI.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 15/07/2018 20:56

Hi, I am starting Exante tomorrow with some other choices like Huel, Slimfast and Purition.

Have been overweight for so long and I have had enough. It really is taking the shine off anything I do. I know folks say you should be happy in your own skin and all that but I am not!

I really feel I need to get down to a healthy weight and see how things are then. I have got my BMI down to just under 30 once or twice other the last 15yrs but have mostly been 33-35. I have to do something. I have a really important event coming up in sept that I really want to weigh less for.

Will be doing replacements as I want to step away from 'normal' food for a while. I know all about healthy eating, low carving and all that but I can't manage that at the moment. I haven't done meal replacement or vlcd before.

This thread has been really helpful in my preparation and I thank everyone for that!

I hope to join in and motivate each other.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 16/07/2018 10:32

Just had my first chocolate-mint shake, it was lovely, my favourite so far.

TyrionLannistersShadow how are you getting on now you're off the replacement products

ronny have your stomach problems improved now?

moomin11 · 17/07/2018 20:30

That's really good DrOnWheels. I've just finished my first week and lost 10 pounds so am chuffed with that. I'm finding it quite tough some days, I'm not hungry but just a bit bored of the products (already!). Will try and stick at it though.

moomin11 · 17/07/2018 20:59

How did your first day go TheGoodEnoughWife?

Chocolate mint sounds good Minnies, is that an exante one?

DrOnWheels · 18/07/2018 08:20

Wow moomin11 that's amazing! I need pack variety rather than have the same flavours others I find it difficult. Exante current stock issues is not helping the problem. I have a huge range of herbal and caffeinated teas - loads of different flavours (fruit, green, mint, ginger etc) I find it helps to add more flavour variety accross the day. I normally have a herbal tea between packs.
