Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been reading through the whole thread, really well done everyone.

Day two almost down and feel like I could stick to it forever, wish I could bottle this feeling!

nicknamehelp · 05/06/2018 18:37

I'm trying to stick to 3 healthy home cooked meals a day. I'm trying to keep off crisps, chocolate etc and I've started at the gym.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/06/2018 20:05

Popping in to say, jeezo we're almost finished this thread! Shock

I'll pop a new one up tomorrow (with a new total) so if you're all super chatty and fill up the 70 posts we have left - can you leave me the last one, so I can link to the new one?

Part 5, here we come! Grin

Putting it like this makes me feel so much more impressed with myself....

Loss so far : 61.5 lbs
To go : 88.5 lbs

Still a long way to go to but once I lose 13.5lbs more (making my weight 16 stone exactly) I would be halfway there. Hoping I can get there before the kids break up for summer!

Welcome callme! Sounds like you've got a good plan in mind. Good luck!

Well done on cholesterol progress nickname, stepping in the right direction.

I went to pizza express for dinner today. I had 3 courses, all allergies accounted for, and I'm only about 50 calories over my target. I can't find an option for subbing mozzarella for the vegan version, so hoping I'm actually under the allowance but whatever! So so pleased that I could have a meal out and not totally blow it!

ScaredPAD · 05/06/2018 22:14

Just realised I'd calculated wrong!!!
9lb so far (in 6 weeks) . Possibly a bit less as first week was in jeans!!

7st 7 to go.

nicknamehelp · 05/06/2018 22:23

Notanurse not long now then. You will be fine just drink loads of water afterwards to flush your system and rest and rest a bit more. I hated the resting but it did me good and helped me recover. Also if you are the cook plan ahead and freeze bits my dh is useless but dc are old enough now and they cooked while I couldn't.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/06/2018 23:14

notanurse oooh glad you've got a date! I chased up an appointment of mine too - the consultant had clicked the wrong outcome so I'd been filed away instead of referred on. Just waiting for the new dates to come through.

Fezzes it depends a bit what your rings look like but it's quite easy to resize down. They just cut a bit out of the band and re shape it. Mine are also very loose - I was going to move them to my middle finger and see how we go. I'd put them on a necklace but Handsy McGrabby aka DS would spend all day grabbing for them, so nope.

fezzesarecool · 06/06/2018 12:19

Great idea honey, I’ll change the finger I’m wearing them in for now.

The ring resizer guy was saying the problem with keeping resizing will weaken the rings. By the end of it if my wedding ring can’t be resized anymore I’ll have to get a new one but oh said he will too. I’ve got a thing about us matching.

Also desperate for some advice. On Sunday I’ve cut down from 1600 calls to 1400. No big deal but has to be done.

All is it for example is 1 slice toast. But for some reason I am fucking starving. Not craving/ fancy a little something but since Sunday I’ve been feeling uncontrollably hungry 😫

It’s this just a mental/hormone thing? Any idea how to power through it? I’m drinking loads of water and hitting the right food groups.

For example I had a plain jacket potatoe, lentils, carrots, spinach and soya beans in a tomato based curry for lunch yesterday. And it was like I hadn’t even eaten it and was starving hungry afterwards.

No idea what to do and feel on the edge of bingeing big time. I’m hoping it’s something like my body having to reset itself a bit but no idea how to make this hungry feeling go away (without stuffing my face).

nicknamehelp · 06/06/2018 13:47

Fezze I've be warned about eating too many potatoes as contain a lot of sugar when body breaks it down so that might be why you are hungry- I'm trying to only have potatoes 1/2 a week now (sweet potato is ok)

Having a v stressy day today but I am not going to give in to my old temptations. I'm going to power through it.

fezzesarecool · 06/06/2018 14:30

Thanks Nick, I’ll look at that

I need to get this hunger under control and then I can deal with the bloody stall!

It crazy how before this you think the hardest part is getting going! But I suppose the things worth doing are the hardest and definitely means we won’t be seeing the big numbers again as we are all working so hard!

fezzesarecool · 06/06/2018 14:53

I’m also debating just trusting the process and getting oh to hide the scales for month.

PostNotInHaste · 06/06/2018 15:01

Fezzes I’d consider a week or two at maintenance and take a bit of a break. For me protein and lower GI foods help with hunger some of the time but others I think it is hormonal and I go with it. If I do go over maintenance calories for a few days I then find the hunger goes and I can start cutting back a bit.

Cagliostro · 06/06/2018 15:30

I really notice how hungry I am after carbs now. I still have some but I am trying to reduce them, and increase fat/protein.

I still haven’t weighed myself! I’m definitely noticing now that I’m smaller how much my size fluctuates day by day. Sometimes my tummy feels massive again. But I never feel uncomfortable in a bloated way so I don’t really understand it.

I am snacking less lately. I used to graze all day. But seem to be able to distract myself better and really ask myself if I’m truly hungry.

I still have a bad feeling I won’t have lost anything though!

:o at Handsy McGrabby, my DD2 is definitely one of those. 7 months and into everything. I’m just amazed she hasn’t broken any of our glasses yet (both my older two broke a pair of my specs each around this age).

Must KOKO but struggling today. Housing issue, while overwhelmingly positive, is having a massive impact on my MH due to the uncertainty.

Hope you’re ok lego x

nicknamehelp · 06/06/2018 17:13

When I joined the gym they recommend 50g carbs at a time - that is roughly 1/4 of a pack of uncle Ben's rice which I'm working towards as was used to 1/2 a pack (which is the portion on the pack!) I can't remember the science but all to do with body converting it.

I've koko today despite everything but food shopping tonight with dh so must stay strong!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 06/06/2018 19:36

I wanted to say a huge thank you. I’ve had the most lovely messages and support through PMs and on here and I’m in a much better place today.

I feel like I need a plan of action, the first is my weight and I’ll deal with the rest as I go. As someone said, a year is 365 days...I have 366 days until I’m 31 and I’m determined to use the time wisely. There’s nothing I can do about the last 30y, that’s done. I need to make the next year count.

I was in a very shit place a couple of days ago and although I’m not quite there yet, I’m feeling so much better thanks to you all.

As always, thank you for being here! I appreciate you all x

Sounds like a good start lego, one step at a time

nicknamehelp · 06/06/2018 20:19

Lego glad u are feeling better.

Tesco have big boxes of cherrys so I treated myself!

moonlight1705 · 06/06/2018 20:32

Well I think the universe has a twisted sense of humour. I caved and on a drive back tonight stopped at a service station and bought a packet of crisps to scoff.
I went back to the car to scoff in peace and watched as someone reversed into my car, scratching it on the front.

If I had resisted then it wouldn't have happened Shock that'll teach me!!!!

Glad you're feeling a bit better Lego.....at 29 I was depressed, ill and alone but my 30th was wonderful so it totally all change in a year.

ScaredPAD · 06/06/2018 20:40

Lego you can do it! I was in a similar place a few months ago - you can see from myg posts in still anxious but I'm on the journey and plodding on.

Having said that I've had my first big binge in ages. It was a big bag of crisps and I are equivalent to 5 bags of crisps :( I've not don't that in weeks and weeks. I've overeatwn but not full on out of control binged.

I had other food available. No idea why in my head. Just saw and wanted and kept eati ng more.

On the positive I've been ages without One!

I think I will go to Tescos tomorrow and get cherries :)

ScaredPAD · 06/06/2018 20:41

Oh and I'm nearly 40 and just getting started! If you can sort yourself out in your 30s that's amazing!!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/06/2018 21:00

Is anyone watching The Truth about Carbs on BBC1 right now? I'm having a little (happy) sob for the results they have seen - one guy has been Type 2 diabetic for 17 years, and has now been classed as in remission.

I've got an appt with my GP about my anxiety as have been having massive mood swings (fun...). Even toying with asking for my old job back, even though I'm not convinced that's the answer either. Perhaps I need to get on the lottery tickets instead, so I don't have to bother with work, and can have a personal chef Wink.

We still have a little bit to go on this thread, so will pop up a new one tomorrow night Smile
