Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

worlds I know that feeling. I found my old SW book today and was sad to see that I'd got down as low as 14.13... I'm 15.10 now, but my high weight was 19.4. How did I let myself get in that state, when I was that "low" back then? Stupid me.

Still, I'm aiming to be at 14.13 again soon - I hope by the end of July. It's only a few weeks away, and then every pound I lose after that point will be the lightest I've been for over a decade. Grin

fezzesarecool · 03/06/2018 21:58

Very true honey

I remember thinking that at over 19st I had left it too late and if only I was at 15stone I had a chance of doing this.

But now I’m very determined as I leave each stone bracket to never go back and I like how mfp is really making me learn about what I’m eating

PostNotInHaste · 03/06/2018 22:32

A quick hello to all and welcome to all new people.

FWIW I’m 5ft 6 inch and 161lbs. Current jeans are size 10 though I think from ‘Big sizing ‘ shops - TU, Fatface and Esprit. My waist is 33inch , hips 37.5 inch, chest 39 to 40 inches, thighs 21.5 inch and wrist 6.5 inch. Bought some New Look t shirts which are 14 and fine. Tried on jackets in garden centre the other day in 12 which fitted but Joules, Tayberry and Weird Fish so assume they are bigger sizes, I apparently don’t look 11 and a half stone according to very weight conscious 9 stone 3 friend who sent me home with her scales over night as she wouldn’t believe I was 11 stone 9 and that my scales were over weighing . They were, but by the 2lbs I knew about. I think I look my weight but allegedly no one else does.

All a bit hectic here as neighbour still in hospital very ill. Weight gone up a pound or so with an unexpected period turning up today an annoying 2 weeks after last one. It did at least explain weight increase.

Thank you to whoever suggested the Chickpea and peach curry. Made it with some added spinach which was my first harvest from allotment. Had it with Bombay potato and was very tasty.

PostNotInHaste · 03/06/2018 22:35

I’ve done the lose and put it back on thing, looking at my old books as I’ve gone down. Also started at just over 19 st in Nov 2016.

ScaredPAD · 04/06/2018 04:02

Post that such an impressive loss well done! I'm 5 ft 6 and hope to follow in your footsteps.

Fezze. I am often still getting overwhelmed that him starting at nearly 19stone and how hard it is to physically reverse such a huge gain. But post etc are doing it. We can.

Honey - oooh I put on weight after I had kids. I love the idea of being the lowest I've been in x. It will take a while but fab motivation.

B1rd. Had a brilliant half term. Thankyiu for helping me reframe it. I do so quickly get caught in a negative panicky spiral. Sigh! I'm appreciating this group so much. Thankyou all.

reallylosingitthistime · 04/06/2018 08:46

I've been reading this thread for a while but haven't posted. I have name changed because I don't want anyone in RL to know these exact figures from the shame ...

I started to change up my lifestyle and the way that I ate 5 months ago and for the first time in my life it is going well!

My starting weight was 21stone 5lb !!! But actually it had been 21,10 a couple weeks prior it was only that I had been unwell....

Anyway I would like to join you guys as I think this time I might really do it.... it's the least I have weighed as an adult ever and my husband says it is the slimmest he has ever seen me which is also true (although the skin isn't pleasant!)

I am 5' 8" for reference.

reallylosingitthistime · 04/06/2018 09:06

Meant to add I was a 22 top and 24 bottom at 299 pounds starting weight and am currently at 16 stone 13.5lbs comfortably in an 18 for tops and dresses across all shops, in a 20 for some bottoms (but 18 if they are stretchy) and the other day I tried on dresses at French Connection which were all 16s so finding I must try on everything!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 04/06/2018 09:13

I’m back, I have to be back.

I had an absolute meltdown last night, verging on a panic attack, because I am absolutely Petrified I’m going to die because of my weight, or go blind or have a heart attack.

I’m so scared, I can’t focus on anything else, it’s like a white hot fear.

I know what to do but I just can’t do it. I’m so stupid to have let it get this far when I’ve started so many times before. I wanted to be under 280Ib (from 343Ib) by my 30th birthday and that’s on Friday...I’ve wasted so much of my life

Wow that was an evening of posts!

Welcome new people.

I was just shy of 19stone at heaviest and am now 18st 4. Got weighed at gym and trainer was shocked at how I looked compared to weight and said I looked a few stone lighter! So all do look diff at diff weights.

Also for me losing weight is The end goal but by eating healthy and moving more I'm hoping to improve my overall health. Not just get to a certain size.

Hope everyone has a good day and kilo x

honeysucklejasmine · 04/06/2018 09:48

Lego you sound so low, love. Can you go back to GP and see if they can hurry things along? Flowers

Welcome really! I love that list, and how incredible to be 20% down already! Congratulations!

moonlight1705 · 04/06/2018 09:57

Wow, its amazing how different everyone's bodies can be. I started off at 21st 0 and now am at 20st 2lb (I was at 19st13 last week but put a bit back on). I'm 5"6 as well

I'm a size 20 top and 22 bottom and wanted to get to about 17st 9lb before I got pregnant as then I would have a BMI under 40. That didn't quite work out as planned but to be honest, I don't care right now Smile

Does anyone know if I should be aiming to diet at all during pregnancy? I hear you shouldn't do that at all but it was hard last week seeing the 2.5lb go on despite not having done anything differently. On the plus side, the nauseous feeling has stopped now.

really wow, love the list too - you've done so well so far.

lego I know that feeling so much, not sure what to suggest except keep going and as everyone has said, perhaps head to the GP.

hahayoulooked · 04/06/2018 09:59

Lego glad you're back and sorry it's tough for you at the moment. Just keep at it, is my advice. It's slow going for me and I still battle some days but they are fewer and I definitely don't have the binges I use to. MFP helps me see what I'm eating and if I've had a bad day, I'll still log it and seeing how many calories I've eaten, gets me back on it.

Reallylosingitthistime welcome and you've done brilliantly

Post great stats, you definitely inspire me.

Welcome strawberrypig and WorldsOKayestmum

Not the greatest of weekends, clearing the clutter out of DCs bedrooms and attic, so much stuff and at times overwhelmed at what to do with it all, but cleared a huge amount. I just fuelled up on the wrong foods.
I could have done without trains being delayed this morning, DS is starting his A-levels, luckily by the time we got there it had caught back up, next train would been cutting it to fine.

And breathe Grin have a week ladies

Worlds0kayestmum · 04/06/2018 10:02

Feel a bit gutted this morning. It's my 'official' weigh day and I was hoping to get my two stone but I weighed in as two lbs heavier than yesterday. I really need to stop daily weigh ins because it isn't doing me any favours but it's so hard to stop. Just feel really disheartened because it feels like such a mountain to climb

honeysucklejasmine · 04/06/2018 10:07

moonlight your midwife will probably offer you a slimming world referral. You absolutely can diet in pregnancy but nothing extreme, and make sure you take your vitamins. You'll find you are asked to do a few glucose tolerance tests too. You fast overnight, have bloods, drink a high sugar drink, sit around bored stiff for a few hours, then more bloods. They measure how quickly your body processes the sugars - it's a test for gestational diabetes which can be very serious. It's routinely screened for in larger women, but personally the only women I know who got it were all about size 10 or less. shrugs I didn't gain any weight in pregnancy.

I also didn't need to buy any maternity clothes. (Although I was given some size 20 underbump maternity jeans which I am now cursing that I've already sent to charity, I could have passed them to you.) I was a big fan of the Matalan jersey fabric hareem trousers. I found that at my height, (5'6" too) I could pull them right up over the bump, and the "hareem" cut provided the excess fabric required to fit comfortably over the bump.

fezzesarecool · 04/06/2018 11:00

Fucking fuming and need to vent.

I’m at the hospital some old guy just hit my 18 month old son with his walking stick and told him to behave.

Absolute fucking cunt!

B1rdonawire · 04/06/2018 11:19

Might take me a couple of goes to catch up with these posts but I'll get started:

1lb off today which gets me into the next stone bracket. Since we're doing weights/inches/sizes here's mine:
Over 19 stone June 2017
Current 14:13
Current waist 35 inches, clothing 16 (getting loose but not enough that I can be motivated to try on a 14 yet)

Lego I am worried, you sound so very low. Is there 1 tiny kind thing you can do for yourself today?

I am currently reading John Bingham "The courage to start" - it's about running but this bit could apply to anything "I realised that if I were going to start, it was going to have to be with the real body I had. Short legged, almost cube shaped, heavily overweight, unable to run to the end of my driveway." I am finding it really interesting to think about making my peace with using the body I have right now, to get towards the body I want. It's really taking away that mindset of disliking my current body, because I see now that I need it otherwise I'm not going to get anywhere! That sounds garbled, I hope you sort of see what I mean...

Welcome to really I love your goals too, good to have you here.

Congrats on the Fitbit wins notanurse!

I have a smug glow about me as I hobble about this morning, because I have just done that run from week 5 of couch to 5k: I have kept going for 20 minutes Shock It's such a short time ago that I was gasping for oxygen after doing 60 seconds, I genuinely can't get my head round it. I desperately needed it this morning, after a long week stuck inside with poorly DD. Yay for fresh air and chubby legs that can go further than last week Grin

B1rdonawire · 04/06/2018 11:21

(Took so long to type I missed your post Fezzes - is you little boy OK?)

nicknamehelp · 04/06/2018 11:22

Fezze I would report him to staff as even if your d's was misbehaving it's not up to him to do that.

moonlight1705 · 04/06/2018 11:41

fezze pity its socially unacceptable to smack the old guy around the head and tell him to behave!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 04/06/2018 11:48

Hello I'm a newbie

More than 100 lbs to lose here. Last year I weighed in at 20stone and steered clear of the scale for a long time because I was so devastated.

Recently weighed in at 15st7 was so relieved so 63 pounds lost but still have far to go and really need to make further improvements to diet and more meal ideas as I am plateauing

I'm also juicing. Is anyone else ?

AnotherOtter · 04/06/2018 13:01

After STS for two weeks, I have gained a pound and a half this week. I cut my calories from 1700 to 1600 but had a bad blow out day so not sure if I can handle 1600 with the exercise I am doing (two 40 minute brisk walks a day plus C25K three times a week). The medication changes last month have been a nightmare for me but I have no choice in them. If one more doctor or nurse says to me "it is better to be fat than crazy" then I will fucking scream.

Not going to attempt to do individual replies but welcome to all the newbies. This is a great thread, very supportive Smile

I am going to buck the trend and say I look bigger than expected for my weight. I was wearing size 26 tops and size 22 bottoms at 17-18st and now at 151lbs I am wearing 12-16s depending on the shop. My waist is 33", bust 40" and hips 37" and I am 5'5. On that note, remember to regularly measure yourself folks. It's very handy to see progress when the scales are being a bastard. I do mine at the beginning of each month.

nicknamehelp · 04/06/2018 14:40

Hello MrStark - I am really struggling have lost 4lb in a month of trying (but various health reasons I know its going to come off slowly) do you cc and use an app? I've been using My Fitness Pal and am obsessed with recording everything accurately. I think exercise is also the key and its a matter of finding something or a combination of things you enjoy. I have joined a gym and am really enjoying going and hope this will speed up the weight loss. I'm also trying to be more active in life in general like walking more .

I did read an interesting blog post on mfp about plateauing last night (tried t link on here but couldn't) and it was all about changing your mind set about plateaus and not seeing it as a failure but a rest on the long mountain climb that weight loss is - you wouldn't expect to climb a huge mountain without a rest a long the way and this is the way to see a plateau just a rest on a long journey.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 04/06/2018 14:49

You lot have just made me cry...again!

I’m really struggling right now. I turn 30 on Friday and have struggled this week with how little I’ve achieved. I’m living with my parents (thank you N London rent prices), I’m in a job I hate, I’m Morbidly obese and I’ve done fuck all with my life. And it feels to late to do anything.

A friends cousin died this week at 15. He was 15 and had his life snatched away. I’m twice that and have achieved nothing. That feels terribly unfair that I’ve wasted a life he won’t get to live.

I feel like I’m drowning and I don’t know where to start.

I feel like a huge (pun intended) burden on people and I’m just so fed up.

Your kindness on here is staggering considering how little I bring to the chat. Thank you

AnotherOtter · 04/06/2018 16:09

Oh Lego, you sound at the end of your tether. Milestone birthdays are hard at the best of times and even worse if your life hasn't turned out as you'd hoped. Do you think you might be depressed? In the clinical sense not the colloquial sense. You sound like you are paralysed by self-blame and shame. And that you have lost hope in having agency in your life. All of that I sympathise with as I've been there too and I think it is more common than people realise. The way to get out of it is different for every person though I think. But a lot of people need outside help to make changes. So going back to the GP and saying what you posted (could print it out) might be helpful. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you feel better soon Thanks
