Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

O I messed up today. Has a stressful morning and popped to shop to get a readily to roast chicken joint. Meant to pick up garlic and herb one but ended up with butter basted. A 100 calories wasted.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/03/2018 17:48

Moonandstars - you didn't mess up, you've just got 100 calories that you didn't account for. It doesn't mean you've failed in the slightest. If you beat yourself up over little things, you're going to crack! This has to be sustainable - so chalk it up to experience, and be aware that things like this can happen, and enjoy your dinner Wink.

Hello to everyone else, I'm devoting this evening to some meal plans to rival honey's Grin. Starting my new job soon, so I'm not around too much - but I am reading everything! KOKO folks Smile

BreakingSad that’s great, well done!

Fezzes that’s good to hear. Are you feeling OK today, no more dizziness?

Good luck with the new job Tractors

Honeysuckle I’m hoping your cooking enthusiasm will rub off on me virtually!

Moonandstars listen to Tractors ! Things will always happen that mean things don’t happen as we want them to. We can’t control them but we can control our response to them which is why KOKO is so important (keep on keeping on). The only failure is I& you totally give up, think of everything else as a learning experience!

Moonandstars84 · 14/03/2018 18:27

I just feel it's wasted calories. Would rather spend them on a treat.
But thank you

fezzesarecool · 14/03/2018 18:48

I’m good today, thanks Post

I’ve been feeling a bit off but think I’ve stressed myself today about yesterday!

Got some new digital scales as I’ve decided to weigh myself tomorrow for my diary instead of today as I wanted to do it when i was in a more positive mood!

Although the digital ones put me as I whole stone heavier and then a whole stone lighter that my normal ones! 🤣 So I think tomorrow I’ll go on the normal ones and if I’m not sure which way it’s tipping go in the digital ones

Also got a measuring tape which was a experience trying to do! Not sure what the numbers mean yet, apart from being high!

So this will be my baseline, although interestly my left side is smaller than my right side and it’s my left side that I’ve notice is weaker when I exercise.

Really hoping the kids go to bed properly tonight, dd’s stayed up late the past two nights! I want to relax and play around with my Happy Planner. For anyone that likes recording food and fitness on a paper system you have to look up Happy Planners!

honeysucklejasmine · 14/03/2018 19:23

Tractors I also need to start thinking about the next meal plan. I'm rubbish at choosing, it takes all week!

Moonandstars84 · 14/03/2018 20:38

The chicken was so worth it. It was gorgeous.

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 14/03/2018 20:48

Moonandstars Glad to hear the chicken was good!

Just been trying to do my weekly big shop online and half the things I get are unavailable! Broccoli, whole chicken, tomatoes, there are so many things! I might have to brave a trip out to a real supermarket, though I don't drive and the taxi back would be expensive. I don't even know where the nearest one is but I'll probably walk there. That'll be Friday's job if I can't sort this out tonight.

I'm tempted also to post what I've been eating! I've been taking photos because I've been so proud of myself!

NSV today - I had to hitch my jeans up!! Never happened before in my life!

fezzes Try not to stress, at the end of the day this is a long-term journey and one day in the grand scheme of things is just a little blip in the ocean. You're doing great, I'm sure, especially with kids too!

NoTractors Forgot to thank you for the thread! Good luck with the new job! I'm also starting a new job at the beginning of April. I've been out of my last job since the end of January so it will be nice to have some routine back. I'm incredibly nervous though. I've only had one job and my experience wasn't great (abusive, controlling, went home crying daily, took out my sadness on whole tubs of Ben and Jerry's ).

Hope everyone is doing okay!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/03/2018 12:40

Right, I’m starting afresh tomorrow, there’s no point doing fuck all! My doctor has advised that I go back onto citalopram but I’m going to give Diet and exercise a go first to see if that helps my mood, I’m going to give it until 16th of May and see how I get on and then make a decision as to wether it’s workong for me or not.

I’ve been watching Obese a year to save my life and there’s an episode about a woman who’s starting at the same weight as me...I know I don’t have Chris and Heidi to help but it’s very inspiring!

ChestyNut · 15/03/2018 13:25

Checking in to new thread, thanks TractorFlowers
We are such a bunch of losers Grin

Optician check up today, hope my eye bumps have gone! How on earth am I meant to see when it’s raining with glasses?!
ChestyDog marginally squinty but slowly improving.

Had a positive session with dietician, onwards and downwards!

I’ve just realised I haven’t pressed the “fuck it” button in a year

KOKO everyone BrewStar

fezzesarecool · 15/03/2018 13:35

Hiya Lego

Thats good timing, I was just coming on to post my weigh in.

For me I found exercise was a good place to start. I started off with 10 mins a day, low impact aerobics and I’ve now worked my way up to 60 mins 6 day’s a week.

Although I can’t do all the moves and make up my own when I can’t do it! I just make sure I keep moving. I did feel a difference at the end of week 2, less winded when walking up stairs.

I don’t always like like doing in but on those days I find halfway through I start to think that I’m glad I did it. I also feel full of energy after so doing more around the house.

Starting weight 272 pounds

Current Weight 255
Week 4 Exercise Week 1 Diet

Total Loss 17 pounds!
Goal 144

So pleased! I do put most of that down to exercise and hopefully I can improve my diet now to keep things going.

AnotherOtter · 15/03/2018 15:18

Thanks for the new thread, Tractors Smile Best of luck with the preparation for your new job. Hope it's not too stressful.

Sorry you had such a bad spell with the dizziness, Fezzes. The treatment of low blood sugar, for insulin using diabetics, is 15-25g of sugar which is classically three to five jelly babies. I wonder since your dizziness continued after having a meal that it wasn't low blood sugar but another cause? The NHS has a page on dizziness: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/dizziness/ You did a lot of exercise and drank water so perhaps your salts were out of balance? You lose salts through sweat and if you don't replace them and then drink water, the concentration in your body can go down. This happens a lot with the low carbers and they say to try bouillon or a stock cube in hot water. There's rehydration solutions like Dioralyte from the chemist too. I often get dizzy when coming down with a bug or if I am anxious. Anyway, hope it doesn't happen again and you are feeling better now Thanks

Thanks for your advice after my binge, Post. You are right and I will try in future not to panic so much but to learn from it and move on. My weight has stalled this week too but I'm feeling pretty pragmatic about it so far and that is definitely down to the excellent advice I've had from you folk over the months.

Great menus on the thread! I'm loving all the ideas. My 2p is that smoothies aren't great as the blending breaks up the structure of the fruit and releases the sugar so you get a strong sugar hit and crash that doesn't happen, as much anyway, when eating whole fruit. Also, I hate washing up the fucking blender.

Glad to hear the butter chicken was worth it, Moon. You don't have to get everything perfectly right btw. I struggle with that too but I tell myself that I've got to be flexible and it's going to be messy sometimes.

LittleBear, that's weird that you say there are still major gaps in the supermarkets as been seeing several random people saying the same on twitter. Is it a backlog of delivery problems after the snow? I hope you don't get bizarre substitutions with your delivery. Sorry to hear of your shite job experience, sounds really tough Thanks Go on, post the photos you've been taking off your food!

Well done avoiding the fuck its, Chesty! Your secret, please? Hard work I bet.

Well done to everyone with their losses this week and KOKO to the rest Thanks

ChestyNut · 15/03/2018 15:58

Otter really hard work, I think eating more regularly and allowing self a small treat has helped.
I can’t face going back to the hideous back pain and am conscious of my poor liver not becoming fat laden Hmm Not sure why!
It’s such a slow journey but I am so proud that I’m still here on track nearly a year later!

Hope haven’t cursed self with the binge God’s now Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/03/2018 19:23

Woohoo Chesty!! A big Star for you. And welcome back to Lego!

Quick pop in (as I'm supposed to be working Hmm) - two things I have discovered recently:

Waitrose do some really nice mixed pulse pouches that you heat up in the microwave Like this - it's 220 kcal for half a pack, but a whole one with a salad is a really tasty meal. They are 2 for £3, which is quite pricey, but have definitely been handy this week for a quick supper.

Non-food related topic - I'm very much a 'functional' Tractor rather than a fashionable one, but I've found a really nice nail varnish that doesn't look nail varnishy Grin - just like you have nice nails, it makes them look a bit pinker, and white tipped than usual. This is it, from Essie: Sheers to You. It's making me feel very grown-up ignores the fact I'm nearing 40

Oh, and a final thing - if you're leaving a job, don't try to be nice and agree to do 8 appraisals before you go, no-one will thank you!! Wink

fezzesarecool · 16/03/2018 13:05

Just checking in and saying hi

I’m experimenting with my diet this week, I’m going on holiday next Friday and want to be carful but also want to relax and not have to log everything. My goal is to maintain while away. So hopefully by experimenting I can stay within calories and get some exercise in without letting that stop me from chilling out.

I’m thinking that as there’s 2 weeks of Easter after that I’m going to find in tough so again mantining weight and if I lose anything that’ll be a bonus.

I was hopping to add in 20mins of walking this month but don’t think I’ll realistically be able to till after the Easter holidays.

So setting my sights low. Although if I don’t see any maintenance or progress it’ll be a dangerous time motivation wise.

Hope everyone’s having a good day

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 16/03/2018 16:13

Well - somehow I managed to convinve partner we had to have jacket potatoes instead of Dominoes pizza last night!! No idea how I managed that one... not sure it'll work again... Proud of myself because I've been craving a pizza for ages, but I didn't want to go that 'off the rails' so to speak.

NoTractors On the topic of nails, mine have always been really short and I bite them when I'm anxious but they're actually starting to grow now! I put that to a healthier diet, as my hair seems to be growing as well. I've managed to stop biting them badly especially since I left my job. Looking back that job was a lot unhealthier than I ever realised whilst I was there.

Lego Best of luck! Ooh, where are you watching that? I love programmes like that - is it on YouTube?

Chesty Hope your appointment went well and that you and ChestyDog continue to improve health-wise.

AnotherOtter I ended up walking to the supermarket this morning because there was so much unavailable online. I got everything I needed strangely enough. My mum thinks it's down to lack of deliveries with the snow and everything.

Fezzes Hope you have a lovely holiday. Try not to stress whilst you're away, holidays are for relaxing (or adventuring, depending where you go).

Oh - I had a really big achievement yesterday. I suffer badly with misophonia which is basically a sensitivity to selective noises that causes extreme anxiety and has lead to the likes of panic attacks. A few years ago it got to the point where I didn't eat Christmas Dinner with my family. I haven't been able to be in the same room as my mum when she's drinking for about 6 years, but yesterday I went for a cup of tea with her to a cafe! It's made me so so happy.

honeysucklejasmine · 16/03/2018 16:34

Well done Bear. I don't have full blown misophonia but eating noises really set me on edge and make me angry. My sympathy to you!

Baby DS is not right. I've given up using muslins and am just wiping up with my cardigan. I am soggy with vomit. It's horrible but it's relentless. I'd have gone through a whole wardrobe of trousers if I was changing every time. He has a doctor's appointment on Thursday but that's not going to be just a magic cure, just a first step. It's properly depressing, he's so unhappy with no end in sight.

honeysucklejasmine · 16/03/2018 16:36

I meant to say... This is half making me want to binge, and half making me want to quit food altogether as it makes him feel so awful. Sad

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/03/2018 18:25

Oh honey I'm sorry DS is still not right - it's so hard when they are so small, and you can't fix it. I hope you get to the root of it soon, and DS improves. In the meantime, I know it's such a MN cliche, but you need to take care of yourself too - DS needs a healthy mum to help him.

Well done Bear - that sounds like a massive step for you.

I'll check in tomorrow for my weigh in, but I'm all bouncy and full of energy - I'm definitely feeling the benefits of a more nutritious diet! Off for an evening walk in the twilight Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 16/03/2018 20:22

Thank you Tractors, you are right. DH is fabulous with the kids so the weekend provides plenty of relief. I'm seeing my consultant on Monday - I feel like I'm on the edge of my lupus flaring up. I imagine it's just a case of upping dosage but it feels a bit rotten. It makes me fatigued and ruins my mood as well as being painful, so it's not helping matters.

Good news is I did not binge! In fact, I still have 200 cals to use today if I want to. Phew.

So glad you're feeling energetic! Makes such a huge difference. Hope you enjoyed the walk.

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 16/03/2018 20:31

Honeysuckle So sad to hear your DS is still not right. I hope that on Monday they can ease things. Please try to take care of yourself as Tractors says. It must be quite miserable.

Looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. Like you Tractors I'm starting to feel better all round!

moonlight1705 · 17/03/2018 09:03

Getting a bit frustrated now as I've STS yet again. This week I've been doing MFP really carefully and I've averaged about 1800 calories a day.

Anyway well done to you all and have a great weekend.

fezzesarecool · 17/03/2018 09:09

I’ve started reading through the old threads, really inspiring!

Total Loss: 12.5lbs

Going to dinner at DP's dad's tonight - main enemy will be the alcohol!

OhHolyFuck · 17/03/2018 09:33

Hello, please could I join? Got a lot to lose, to get to a healthy bmi probably about 7 stone from now

Started on January 1st and have lost about 23lb so far (didn't get an accurate 'start weight' as I was too scared to stand on the scales!)

Looking to join this thread as I can feel myself flagging a bit, I think I'm too impatient, I get all 'I've been dieting ages why am I not skinny yet!'
Have to remember that it's going to take time

Did total meal replacement (slim and save) in January for a 'boost', sort of doing a month off/month on system with just good healthy eating (staying around 1500 calories a day in between) so March should have been my month 'on' the powders but DS2 has been in hospital with an asthma attack and I've fallen off the wagon so it's not gone as successfully as before

I tend to weigh on a Tuesday - I don't have scales in the house or I get a bit obsessive so I use the ones in boots just once a week
