Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Evening all. I’ve just joined so don’t know you all well yet, but wanted to say Lego, so pleased to hear you feel a bit better.

Day 3 down for me and still under calorie wise, so doing well so far.

B1rdonawire · 06/06/2018 22:11

Well done Lego great to hear you've got a plan, and that things are feeling less overwhelming.

Tractors really sorry life is tricky, I hope the GP is helpful tomorrow. If you do win the lottery, don't forget all of us will you?!

Sorry about your car Moonlight, that's a pricey packet of crisps :-( I hope the other driver did the decent thing and gave their details?

My mum bought me a box of my favourite Swiss chocs back from her hols. I have hidden it after eating inhaling the amount I measured, but it is caaaaaaalling to me Grin Going to have to go to bed soon to try and avoid scoffing the rest.

B1rdonawire · 06/06/2018 22:13

Well done on your strong start too Callmesausage sounds great Smile

strawberrypig · 06/06/2018 22:41

Happy birthday for tomorrow Lego, milestones are always hard as it too easy to look back rather than forward. The great news is that your thirties are so much better than your twenties. Baby steps will get you where you want to go.

AnotherOtter · 07/06/2018 07:08

Honey, that's a really inspiring story of how life changed for you and your friend. Changes don't have to be radical to have a big effect over time.

Post, sounds a very stressful situation at home with your neighbour. How are things with your daughter and her partner? Sounds like you have an awful lot to deal with right now!

Welcome Callmesausage. If you don't mind me asking, what led to you putting weight back on the last time? That has happened to me too and I am trying to learn from it and others so as not to repeat it.

Great news about your cholesterol, Nickname. Mine is now low from being borderline too. I eat about 40% fat nowadays but try to make it mostly monounsaturated. The total amount of fat I'm eating is much lower than before though. It suits me as I find fat tasty and satiating and makes sticking to a calorie deficit a bit easier to reduce my carbs a bit.

Well done Reallylosingit, you are right, that is impressive weight loss. Great to have mini-goals to keep us going too.

Great news you've finally got a date for your gallbladder, Notanurse. Very understandable that you are feeling anxious but try not to worry. You are obviously in pretty good shape managing 30k steps!

Fezzes, like the others have said too, I'd try reducing the proportion of carbs to see if that helps. I certainly find a day or two of higher carb sets off bingy feelings in me. Tracking when you have these feelings over the course of your cycle can make it easier to deal with as you can plan for it and have faith that it will pass. Bad times for me are a couple of days around ovulation and the week before my period. I took Post's advice to try maintenance for a week after a bad binge (4k) a few months ago and found it really helped too. Was an eye-opener how much less stress I felt that week.

AnotherOtter · 07/06/2018 07:31

Yes, I am so far behind I am double posting.

Happy birthday, Lego! Try to remember it really is only one day and you don't have to do everything perfectly right now to make a sustainable change over the long term.

Moonlight, that's a nightmare about your car.

Sorry to hear you had a bad binge, Scared. It's always unpleasant and upsetting Thanks Do you know what triggered it? Anything you can learn from to reduce the chances of it happening again?

Tractors, hope the GP has some good advice for you and that you feel better soon Thanks I regularly waste £2 on the lottery just so I can have the little daydream of "what will I do if I won...".

Good job on resisting the Swiss chocolates, B1rd. I find opened packets very tough to ignore.

I have lost the 'bloat' from my bad day last week and back to the weight I was immediately before it. But I have basically STS for the entirety of May despite a big calorie deficit overall on paper. I knew my TDEE had reduced disproportionately as I lost weight, even accounting for lower body weight, but worried that my metabolism really has crashed. My resting pulse is now 45bpm which is one of the things the body does to conserve energy. I think my maintenance calories will be much lower than I had hoped. My hair loss is really severe now and I'm finding that much more upsetting as it continues. The GP thinks that is most likely caused by the weight loss. The loose skin is getting me down too and I'm definitely on the bad end of the spectrum. Sorry for the moan. I have had so many good things from losing weight but it has disadvantages too and my mojo is well and truly in hiding!

I didn't know that about the pulse dropping AnotherOtter mine has too! I am choosing to see it as a nice rest for my heart after years of carrying round so much extra Wink I'm sorry to hear about the downsides dragging you down a bit lately, I completely understand why they do. What do you think could help redress the balance so you also remember what feels positive (without taking away at all that this is really hard)?

I'm participating in a group self-care thIng right now that's 100 days of self care. Every day I have to note down something I'm grateful for about that specific day, and 1 way I chose to look after myself. I don't always manage it but I still find it helpful.

Must dash for school run, but sending positive wishes for the day.

nicknamehelp · 07/06/2018 09:53

Happy Birthday Lego hope you have a day filled with love x

Another - no advice as I have managed 7lb since mid April but am truing to view even if i dont loose weight eating healthy and moving more is better for me than eating rubbish and sitting around on my bum. When I've lost weight before I found pilates/yoga really helped tone me up so this may help with loose skin.

I've woken up in a really down mood and had to stop myself eating the kids biscuits/cakes for breakfast (something I would normally do) I feel really alone right now in the world as friends I have been there for in bad times dont seem to be bothered that I might need a little lift at the moment. DD has her 1st of 2 ops next week and yes we've been there before but I still worry. I'm sitting at my desk supposedly working but having no motivation to do anything constructive apart from post on here .

Cagliostro · 07/06/2018 10:25

Happy birthday lego

I am not keeping up very well having joined so late in, I shall endeavour to keep up properly on the new thread!

Cagliostro · 07/06/2018 10:27

Nickname sorry you feel so down today. Hate days like that. Xx

fezzesarecool · 07/06/2018 11:56

Thanks everyone, my starving hunger has gone 😄 Maybe it was just my body getting use to the drop in calories, although I will think about maintenance if it returns. Hopefully not though I was hoping to save maintenance until the summer holidays when everything goes off schedule.

Non scale victory today, my measuring trousers are loose so something is happing 😄

Cagliostro · 07/06/2018 12:54

Loose trousers are always good! Nice one!

I'm so annoyed, finally got myself organised to go and weigh myself, and the damn machine in Boots was out of order. FFS.

fezzesarecool · 07/06/2018 14:08

How annoying for you, but bright side is a extra day if weight loo 😉

You’re so good going out to get weighed, I’m still obsessed by weighing myself every 5 mins 🤣

fezzesarecool · 07/06/2018 14:09

*loss

Cagliostro · 07/06/2018 14:25

I think I would of be if I had scales! I used to weigh myself on the wii fit board but it’s not very reliable on our dodgy flooring.

DH said oh well it’ll be even more loss when you do weigh yourself but I’m worried it’ll be the opposite!

nicknamehelp · 07/06/2018 17:12

Just made the hairy dieters veg samosas with dd they are yummy and it took my mind off feeling miserable.

Have koko today but it's been hard wish I could snap out of this mood.

Callmesausage · 07/06/2018 17:19

Happy birthday Lego. Sorry you’ve had a crappy day Nickname, must be a worry about your daughter’s op and I hope all goes well. It’s do hard keeping away from bad food when you’re having a shitty time.

Cagliostro, hope you manage to weigh in soon. I’m terrible for weighing and do it every morning.

Well done on the trousers fezze!

Not sure if it was on this thread, but read about walking 100 miles in a month and am going to do that once my new Fitbit arrives.

Cagliostro · 07/06/2018 17:59

Discovered the Boots near my DCs' club has a machine. 3lb off, that's in 3.5 weeks, so am happy with that as I want slow and steady. Now 15 10 which is my lightest in years - was maintaining at 15 11 for most of this year until I put on a bit recently and was 16 exactly when endocrinologist weighed me a month ago. So I'm pleased that's come off again and it hasn't felt like I'm depriving myself too much. I could definitely be stricter though.

I may have lost 3lb but my body fat increased by 1%, any thoughts on that please? I've only just started tracking it as couldn't use that function when pregnant.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/06/2018 20:01

Well done Cagliostro!

I've just finished my sums, so off to pop up a new thread and a brand new total too..... Shock Grin
