Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

I'm possibly stuck inside all day tomorrow which will totally mess my 10,000 steps quota! Can anyone recommend a YouTube workout for the chronically unfit that I can do instead? (I'm a size 26 so struggle with jumping and sit ups but am willing to give it a whirl!)

ChestyNut · 12/10/2017 17:57

DM booked for bloods tommorow and for a scan in next week. Cross your fingers toes and eyes for us please.
So far I'm sticking to plan, maybe not so good on the lunches, skipped altogether today and didn't realise until I wondered why had heartburn.

Welcome Lego

Well done everyone for KOKO.

notanurse hope things improve quickly for you Brew

For you Lego. It's fine to just walk instead of doing the steps. The 5 minute one great when making a cuppa. She is a bit cheesy but effective. Space them out during the day and you'll get your steps in. I start marching the minute she starts talking.

Chesty fingers very firmly crossed.

What are people's opinions on whether it matters if you save calories from lunchtime to combine with tea to make a bigger meal or whether it's bad to have a light breakfast no lunch then a bigger tea?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/10/2017 20:32

Wow, lots of chat Smile

Silly - I've been experimenting a bit with that lately. I don't think it matters too much, as long as you end up in a calorie deficit. I don't tend to 'save' calories from one meal to the next as my brain goes 'oh you'll be starving after that little plate, have a bag of doritos too' Blush

My experience with skipping meals is the following:

Skip breakfast - have lunch and tea. No issues, can easily make it to 1pm on coffee.

Skip lunch - have breakfast and tea. I get a very definite afternoon slump, and am starving by the time I get home from work.

Skip tea - have breakfast and lunch. I don't get hungry as such in the evening, but I do get very snacky, and can easily graze all night. Easiest way for me to put on lbs!

That's just my experience though, others may find different outcomes! I generally skip breakfast as it does seem to help with losing, and I haven't noticed any ill effects from doing so - my appetite throughout the day is fairly consistent, and I don't snack at all.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts - off to fold laundry (aye, the glamour!) Grin

2.5lb gain this week
Total loss 79.5lb
To lose 30.75lb

I've not eaten 8750 extra calories so am not going to worry, it will come off at some point though probably not next week as I'm eating at maintenance . I've eaten at a slight deficit but had lots of gluten that I don't cope with particularly well, lots of stress and a lack of sleep.

Re the times you eat I don't think it generally makes any difference unless you have a specific medical condition where it wouldn't be advisable to skip meals. Run with what you feel comfortable with doing is my advice.

Great first week Nicpen1982

I tried a new dish Nigella’s chicken, chorizo and potato tray bake, absolutely delicious, apart from I burnt the onions Grin

Nicpem1982 · 13/10/2017 10:08

Breaking that sounds gorgeous may have to see what I can do with the recipe on slimming World though

I'd also want lashings of mayo and crusty bread with something like that

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 13/10/2017 11:05

My dads having surgery today and all I want to do is eat and eat, I've had a (weighed portion) bowl of cereal and a banana for a sensible breakfast but I want to just sit and eat whilst I wait for news. I don't feel comfortable doing any exercise video either as we have repair men in and in stucj in all day

I don't know how to not eat when things are hard and I don't know how to get past that

Nicpem1982 · 13/10/2017 11:13

Lego- that's pants I'm sorry about your dad and fingers crossed all is well.

I've been stuck in a few days too my dd was ill then yesterday I was Im not allowed back in work until next week now so I'm struggling. I've done some much needed house work this morning and am now settling with a coffee to plan this week's menus. Can you distract yourself with anything

BreakingSad · 13/10/2017 11:49

Flowers* IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece* sending you my best wishes to your Dad . You’ve made a good start a sensible breakfast and like Nicpen said you need a distraction (a movie, beauty treatment?).

I also use an elastic band on my wrist, that I can snap when I want to distract my thoughts, this helped me when I was really stressed, a sort of snap out of it. Not for everyone but I found it useful.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/10/2017 15:48

Hope you get some news soon Lego Flowers

It's a horrible day here and I'm at work on a very long conference call, which isn't going anywhere. There's nothing for me to do except scribble the odd note - I'm going to get the work experience student to sit in for me next time Wink On track for a small loss this week - but we'll see what the scales say tomorrow.

Hope you all have a peaceful weekend, and KOKO Smile

Updating with some positive news.
I managed to run on the treadmill which might not seem a big deal but it's amazing for me I haven't managed to run in over 20 years as I am so big and walking was a huge effort.
I managed to run 10 mins in total not running all in one go but doing 3 mins or so before walking at a fast pace and then doing another 3 mins.
I'm feeling quite positive but I'm a bit worried about how sore I ll be tomorrow

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 13/10/2017 16:25

Thank you, he came out great and doing really well Smile

I've managed to do 2000 steps so I'm failing on day 3 Confused

BreakingSad · 13/10/2017 18:41

You haven’t failed Lego,** only if you stop trying. Glad your dad doing well.

BreakingSad · 13/10/2017 18:59

Well done Sillysausage and if you do feel sore, it shows you’re working those muscles Smile

BreakingSad · 13/10/2017 19:04

Notractors Flowers hope you have a peaceful weekend too.

Nicpem1982 · 13/10/2017 19:07

Nicpem1982 · 13/10/2017 19:07

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 13/10/2017 20:03

I've not had a great day food wise, tbh it's been lousy BUT I've tracked it all on MFP so I can hold myself accountable...but tomorrow is a new day and hopefully I can make up for it

Thank you for the good wishes for my lovely DDad xx

Nicpem1982 · 13/10/2017 20:54

Lego - it's one day and by God you've had a stressful one with ur dad etc it's one day from 365 don't sweat the small stuff x

honeysucklejasmine · 13/10/2017 22:30

Evening! So, have managed to locate and jump on scales. I am now 18lb down on my start weight, which means I have gained about 8lb during my pregnancy.

I'm breastfeeding and trying to avoid eating all the food, which I am mostly managing apart from the bar of fruit and nut I devoured this week so hopefully I can keep an eye on things and maintain for a while before I start losing again.

I had confirmation from our solicitor today that we are finally moving house in 10 days (it's been a 4 month delay, staying with DPs) so I am looking forward to having our own space back and full control on my dinner options. I can't believe it's finally happening!
