Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

Exciting times honey! Good luck with the move!!

I’m happy that after a long period of essentially not losing anyway, my scales are consistently shifting downwards again!

Lost this week: 2 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 37 lbs
Left to lose: 87 lbs

Lego hope your Dads ok today?
It's tough not to comfort eat, I keep thinking will a pizza actually solve the problem and I know it won't.
Not easy though Flowers

Today is another day, just KOKO.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 14/10/2017 10:26

Thank you chesty he's in a reasonable amount of pain and isn't allowed to move his arm so he's grumpy but he is ok Smile

I forgot I have dinner plans tonight with friends at an American diner but I'm going to walk halfway there tonight to get extra steps in and try and make reasonable choices no milkshake for a start...it sounds so silly but I'm a little bit proud of my mindset for thinking that way because before I would always just have a complete blow out because "fuck it" and probably taxi door to door but the fact that I'm thinking about it is a novel concept to me!

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/10/2017 10:32

Lego - hope your dad is on the mend very soon. It's hard when there's not much you can do to help them, but that's such a great mindset you're showing, especially considering what you're dealing with right now. I find that 'making conscious decisions' feeling is really addictive, and by still going out and enjoying myself, I'm not feeling deprived in the slightest. It has been a revelation.

No time to catch up properly but just wanted to say well done to everyone this week.

Lego glad your Dad doing ok and that's a great mindset for this evening.

It's my birthday today and I wanted to do something that would have been unthinkable a year ago so we all went and did a Parkrun, my children now hate me Grin I've come on this morning a week early which hopefully explains this week's gain.

Week 16
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 88.7kg
this week's loss 0.4 kg

Welcome to the newbies, you all sound well-motivated for the long haul. Good news on the very moderate pregnancy gain honeysuckle.

I'm glad your Dad is recovering Lego, and I hope you had a good time last night. An American diner isn't the easiest place for a dieter to go, but if the company is good then hopefully that is a distraction from all the carby, sugary, fatty temptation.

Silly I haven't read up on 16:8, am I right in assuming that you fast for 16 hours and only eat within an 8 hour window? Anyway, skipping breakfast seems to suit me very well. There are different types of hunger I find, and the morning hunger is just feeling empty whereas my evening hunger is more of the unfillable void type where I get really snappy and angry and prowl the fridge and cupboards, it's much more of a carb craving in the evening. I fill the morning hunger with coffee, and that works out well. I do eat a mainly protein breakfast on the day that I go to the gym, and quite often I have breakfast out with friends once a week which is also mainly protein. I tend to have a small,carb-free lunch on the days that I have had breakfast. I couldn't skip an evening meal, because that's when I'm hungriest but it's also my most social meal. It would be tough to cook for the family and watch them eat and not be able to eat with them, and also a really bad example to the DC of a disordered relationship with food.

I had quite a bad day on Thursday, I had to go into DS's new school because he'd been fighting with another boy. He has autism and a lot of behaviour issues so I have had to have a LOT of interaction with his primary school, and it looks as though secondary will follow the same path. I didn't stress eat, which was pretty good for me (I wanted to though). However, I didn't drink enough because I was staying out of the kitchen which meant I woke up with leg cramps early on Friday morning, so I will have to make sure that I keep up the fluids. I tend not to get thirsty so it's easy for me to forget to drink.

Well done to all the losers. KOKO. Grin

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 16/10/2017 06:40

There's a typo in my last post, the loss is correct but my current weight is 89.7kg. I'm putting the corrected weight here because I don't always remember what I was the week before and I don't want to get myself all confused next week.

swlondonnanny · 16/10/2017 07:19

Morning everyone
Doing my weigh in on Monday again
Current weight 103kg
Week 31 -2.4kg
Liking my new scales a bit better now Smile

Sillysausage123 · 16/10/2017 17:10

Someone finally noticed I have lost weight!
I've been waiting for ages and haven't told people I've been dieting and wanted to see if they noticed eventually rather than people keep asking me each week if I've lost anything and me feeling under pressure and someone finally noticed.
This will give me a boost to carry on

Nicpem1982 · 16/10/2017 19:15

That's brilliant x

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/10/2017 19:48

That's really great, sausage - and you're right, it will give you a big boost.

Well done sw and blackamericano - you're proper losers Wink

I may have had 4 Quality street - had a real craving for them Blush But I feel quite sick now, so there won't be any more!

Do any of you lovely slimmers manage to get the recommended 10 portions of fruit and veg a day

honeysucklejasmine · 16/10/2017 21:01

Thanks all. DH is back at work now so on my own with 2 under 2! Which would be fine but he's working in our new location and rents a room there, so I don't have any help in the morning which is stressful. So I am very excited to get back to living together full time.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 17/10/2017 17:39

Oh honey I remember the two under 2 stage - just keep swimming! Smile That sounds really tough having your DH away, hope you're all reunited soon.

Nic - I don't eat very much fruit, but I generally aim for 6 portions of veg - 3 at lunch, and 3 at dinner. I could bulk it out to 10 of fruit and veg if I drank fruit juice and had fruit after each meal, but it doesn't really appeal - and it's bloody expensive!

I have a sneaky day off work tomorrow - the DCs are on holidays, but are at an activity camp thing and really enjoying it, so I'm going to have a day to myself. I'm going to drink nice coffee, and read books Grin

Nicpem1982 · 17/10/2017 21:35

No tractors - we generally get 8 in but I struggle with the last couple and have to force mango in

Toomuchocolate · 17/10/2017 21:44

Hi can I join? I'm really struggling to stay on the wagon! I'm using my fitness pal and aiming to eat 1600-1800 cake a day. But sometimes when I've got to early afternoon I panicked if I've only got 200 calls left and binge :-( I'm trying to start again each morning so I'm not continually gaining like I used too so that's a positive for me.
