Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

12oz gain this week but expected as its ovulation week and I've noticed I gain at this time.

Onwards and downwards Smile

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/10/2017 10:38

Sorry you're freaking out about your birthday Chesty - can you pinpoint exactly what bit is causing you the most stress? Visualise each stage and how you'll feel about it - how will you feel getting ready, getting yourself to the venue, during the night, the food, the drinks, the people, trying to get home at chucking out time without a taxi to be seen Angry

Happy belated birthday Notanurse hope you had a nice time

Welcome Sillysausage
*
Chesty* Flowers could you do a pre night out, just you and one another, do what you'll do on your big birthday, so you know what to expect but no pressure on you.

To lose 113
Lost to date 48
Lost this week 2
Left to lose 65

I've downloaded the Active 10 app and although I do hit my step target, I don't make the 10 minutes straight walking. So target to hit that this week.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/10/2017 15:44

Week 14
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 90.1kg
this week's loss 0 kg

I have stayed the same this week, but at least I didn't explode. Thank goodness the digestive system comes with an emergency pressure-relief valve at either end. Wink I was fine again yesterday, my Mum brought cake with her to lunch at our house today but I steered clear, so at least I can say I've learnt from my mistake.

Welcome to SillySausage. When are you planning to fly to New York? My DC have decided that they won't be visiting America until Trump has left office (not that I was offering to take them anyway).

Happy birthday Notanurse, your DD is a real sweetie.

I hope your big birthday goes well Chesty. It is your birthday, so I think you should set the pace/location/activity to suit what you want. Being anxious from now until then is a lot of unnecessary headspace to give to something that is supposed to be a treat.

Well done with your whoosh NoTractors. Grin

ChestyNut · 02/10/2017 16:52

It's many things, dressing up, feeling like a heifer, worrying people are looking at me, hate hangovers blah blah blah Confused

So I wore a new smaller uniform today. LAST one was like a tent due to weight loss, felt nervous at the grand revealing......only 1 person said anything Hmm

Hope everyone's ok Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/10/2017 20:28

Well done Breaking and I'm glad you didn't explode BlackAmericano Grin

Chesty I can totally understand you feeling that way - maybe a wee trial run of a night out as suggested above would help? Well done on wearing a new uniform - if your co-workers are anything like me, they will have been thinking there's something different about Chesty... and just convinced themselves you'd had your hair done Blush The penny will drop in a couple of days time speaking from experience

It's suddenly feeling very autumnal, the heating is on, and I'd quite like to hibernate...a mug of spiced apple tea is helping Smile KOKO you losers Smile

Hi, I would like to join your thread. I havent that much weight to lose having already lost 4.5 st with slimming world however I have plateaued recently so have switched to VLCD. I really need moral support as I am having surgery in Dec to remove excess skin however I need to lose about 20lbs in 10 weeks. I also need to quit my beloved e-tab which I know will not be easy. Sometimes, I simply like to read your threads as they inspire me.

Dumbo412 · 02/10/2017 23:26

Hi everyone!
I fell off my new eating plan 3 months ago- I've gone and put on the 2+ stone I lost and I'm back at 20 stone again.
I'm on high blood pressure medication, I have PCOS, my confidence is on the floor, and I keep getting abscesses on my tummy where my tummy rubs my jeans/knickers.
I would really like to join this thread if that's ok! Hoping this might give me a kick up the bum.., feels like I really need it!

Thank you all for having me!

Sillysausage123 · 03/10/2017 07:36

Lifelongdieter do you mind me asking how much skin removal surgery costs as it's something I will probably have to consider?

MintyChops · 03/10/2017 09:51

Ok, first weigh-in since joining you all here:

Week 1
Lost 2.75lbs
Total loss 2.75lbs
Total to lose 100lbs
Left to lose 97.25lbs

I am framing it as having lost almost 3% of what I want to lose so am delighted!

MintyChops · 03/10/2017 09:52

Hi Dumbo, well done for coming back. Whatever you fall off can be gotten back onto again.

Excellent Minty well done. I find it helpful to think of it in percentages too.

Welcome Lifelongdieter and congratulations on your loss. How are you getting on with the VLCD, are things moving again and do you respond to pressure from a deadline or does it make yin feel a bit defeatist?

Welcome back Dumbo, are you up for a name change at all, I feel a bit rude calling you that?! Sorry to hear you're struggling. I think k we can all relate to the cycle of losing /gaining what you lost plus more. Good time of year to be doing this though as you can get a bit off for Christmas and start 2018 lighter than now. How are you planning to do this? If counting calories can I suggest that if you feel that things are getting tough and you need a break that you consider switching to maintenance for a bit? A few of us use this and it can be very helpful, I think I am going to have a week or two doing it as a touch stressed at the moment and tired and think eating at maintenance would be sensible.

Chesty I think there is a lot of pressure on the whole big Birthday thing. Maybe as suggested above it's an idea to rethink things and come up with something you feel more comfortable with? Maybe doing things with smaller groups of people or something ?

BreakingSad · 03/10/2017 11:28

Well done MintyChops great start

Welcome Dumbo and Lifelong we’re a friendly bunch.

Notanurse active 10 is definitely encouraging me to do a purposeful walk once a day. I think that’s a wonderful NSV with regards to the photo.

Hercy · 03/10/2017 12:42

Hi All :)

Sorry I missed your birthday notanurse, it sounds like you had a great day.

Well done to all the losers and I'm glad to hear BlackAmericano is no longer exploding!

Chesty, as other have said, it's your birthday, so you do what YOU want. If the thought of going out drinking is making you anxious, then simply don't do it. You could always arrange to meet up with the same friends at someone's house?

I'm still very busy at the moment, which hasn't left a lot of headspace for dieting, but I don't think I've been so bad. Will have to brave my scales when I've lost this PMS bloat.

Does anyone else find that Active10 kills their battery?

Finally, welcome to Dumbo and sillysausage - this is a lovely inclusive thread and great for keeping you on track...

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 03/10/2017 16:26

Yay, yay, yay. I'm doing a happy dance, come and join in with me. I am due to see a consultant because my blood glucose had been so bad, so I went into my GP on Friday to have my bloods taken again so that they would be up to date for the consultant. The GP has just phoned me to say that they are now 'spot on' (that's a quote), so no need to see the consultant for the time being, which saves me €250. More importantly it saves me from possibly having to inject insulin. Grin Low-carbing ROCKS!

ChestyNut · 03/10/2017 17:51

Thanks all. Going out used to be something I enjoyed so need to push myself to try it.

Cried on the dietician again today
My homework is 5 positive things I do this week as I'm a negative nelly.

Well done to the losers!

*welcome to the new members of the group.

Dumbo you can do this. I also have PCOS, abscesses yadda yadda. My main reason for starting was health (back pain) and feel lots better already.

Black that is AMAZING! Well done you!

Chesty did you have your takeaway homework in the end ?

ChestyNut · 03/10/2017 18:05

Post erm no Blush Ssshhhhhh Grin
I'm avoiding it!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 03/10/2017 20:12

Tsk tsk Chesty Shock Grin

Is it just me, or is anyone else bloody starving today? I'm almost tempted to eat the half cucumber that's sitting in the fridge Blush, but have a mug of peppermint tea instead.

Watching Bake Off isn't helping... Hmm I do like a pie Grin

OP posts:
PostNotInHaste · 04/10/2017 10:07

Sorry Chesty my lips are sealed !

NoTractors I'd have eaten the cucumber, drunk the tea and possibly eaten something else! Maybe Strictly might be easier on the appetite than Bake off Grin

I am having a hungry week but going with it and doing maintenance or thereabouts , I think stress plays a role. My thermostat has broken, I'm either freezing (fat loss) or boiling (peri menopause) . Need a new running top with longer sleeves. Still makes me Grin that it's me saying that.

BreakingSad · 04/10/2017 10:41

PostNot I saw somebody running yesterday that had arm sleeves, I’ve never seen them before, but could be an option Smile

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/10/2017 19:48

Ooh yes, there's a woman who runs past me on the way to work each day with zebra striped running sleeves. Very cool. She's like a gazelle, nimbly nipping around wheelie bins, wee old pensioners, scootering kids, and...erm...me!

Realised I'd had very little protein yesterday, so I've adjusted that today, and feel much better tonight. I could do with an early night with my book, but feel 7.45pm is maybe a tad early Smile

Hope everyone else is KOKO-ing - not long til it's the weekend Smile
