You sound like you're doing a great job bugger. Wouldn't be sure anymore what's considered old, I'm a 40+'er

I'm 57! You're a mere stripling, not.

I find it MUCH harder than I used to.

Loving all the positive stories, particularly the photos. Smile.

caggie09 · 01/07/2017 11:41

Yes 13lb!! Very happy. Did treat myself to some galaxy chocolate last night. Back to it this morning though!! A tandoori chicken wrap for dinner and then a yogurt to follow today. Im stuffed though! Only came in at 351 calories too!
Im in my 20's, so i was wondering if the younger you are the faster it comes off?
Doing some baking tonight when i get in from work. Could be a disater waiting to happen! Homemade bounty bars and some cupcakesEaster Smile hope everyone has a good weekend!

newlark · 03/07/2017 17:47

Haven't posted for a couple of weeks but getting on steadily 33 days in and 11 lbs down (most of which was in the first 10 days - I'm settling down to the 1lb a week that I'm aiming at now I think). Am having the odd difficult day with cravings but overall basically astonished that I am actually doing this! I'm allowing myself occasional treats that fit in my 1540 calories e.g. cake with coffee with a friend or an ice cream on a picnic out - having sub100 cal snacks planned is helping too. Is 45 counted as old here?

caggie09 · 03/07/2017 19:01

Sundays night was a write off. Scoffed far to much chocolate, felt super guilty! I always struggle with Sundays especially when I'm off work.
Today I did well though, ate 1208 cal today, got 462 left. Probably have a little something later on in evening. I'm experimenting more when it comes to making meals now, making new things nearly everyday! I'm actually having fun calorie counting, but I'm becoming that annoying person telling family members how many calories is in something they are eating. Grin Blush
New 45 is defo not old here!
Have a nice night everyone!

buggerthebotox · 03/07/2017 20:05

Is it the done thing to eat back calories? I don't anymore. I find it helps but it still takes aaaaages to lose anything.

I hate old ageSad.

Not2bObvious · 04/07/2017 03:59

I'm pretty sure years and years of dieting has caused a thing called metabolic adaptation for me bugger, it's taken ages to lose the 9-10lb I've shifted (nearly 3 months) But then again maybe I'm just not working as hard as I could at it. No, I don't eat back calories cause they are reallly hard to earn and far too easy to eat. I have to find the right balance on what I eat to get enough fuel for the right amount of calories. It's all about getting that 500 calorie deficit day in, day out. I don't always make it, hence the slow loss. But slow will get me there. There's also a chance of self fulfilling prophecy, so put age to the back of your mind. It is what it is and all that😉

Not2bObvious · 04/07/2017 04:00

And 57 isn't old!!!

OP posts:
Inthesleeplessnightgarden · 04/07/2017 07:07

Oh dear. Several weekends of over indulgence have come back to bite me. Scales up two whole pounds 😳. Got slack, and now paying for it. Taking control today, starting with black coffee. Not going to let these extra pounds sneak back on and ruin all this year's hard work. Good luck all, sounds like many of you are going great guns!

buggerthebotox · 04/07/2017 07:33

I'm fascinated by this idea of metabolic adaptation. I'm happy to accept that your metabolism slows as you get older but I'm a bit cross that my efforts at dieting over the years have led perhaps led to more difficulty later onSad.

Whatever the reason, I'm pretty sure it's more difficult as you get older; I know of hardly any slim people my age! There are some, but they either have very active jobs or are gym bunnies!!

You sound like me, not. I take around 2-3 months to lose 7lbs.

Bathsheba3 · 04/07/2017 09:25

Same here to take 2-3 months to lose 7lbs. The same 7lbs that only took 2-3 weeks to put on Blush

Had a very indulgent weekend - i.e. I socialised, saw some friends, ate nice food and drank rather a lot prosecco. Rather surprised to see 11 6.75 today. Thought I would have headed back into the "upper" 11's, not the "lower" Wink. Just done a PT session. Hoping that I am back in zone for a good wee while again. Well, for the next 3 weeks before hols.

Wore a vest-top out on sunday, and my friends commented on my toned arms & shoulders. YES !!!! Bingo wings are still flapping about, but I do feel a lot more toned.

Even if I'm not going to have the beach body I want, and the chances of hitting the 10s in 3 weeks slim non existent, the body I have now is a darn sight better than it was this time last year, by about 1 1/2 stone. So I will make the most of it on hols, and feel good about myself, and proud of the hard work I have put in.

You're off on your hols soon not? Hope you are feeling as good as you deserve too. I bet all your exercise has changed your body shape more than the scales is giving you credit for.

Age everyone, is just a number. I don't think I've been this fit or strong for a long time. And as a mid-40's mama I feel good for it.

Not2bObvious · 04/07/2017 19:44

Off on hols Friday bath, I like you had rather a lot of socialising on the weekend and am carrying nearly 3lb of bloat but that's all it is. I'm delighted to be heading off soon but a bit like you, I wish I were taking less of me😉 Yes the body is definitely looking better with all the exercise so that's a bonus. I'm going to do my best for these next 2 days, I ran/walked nearly 6 miles before work and am close to 20,000 steps today. I won't get to the gym though but no matter. Was at a birthday party today and ate too much sugary rubbish, so no urge for food. Early night and another pre-work run for tomorrow I hope. Nice to see you back in, several weekends of indulgence and only 2lb gain? I think you don't know how to truly indulge😉 You've dodged a bullet, take it gracefully, you'll shift that in 1-2 weeks

I don't know what's happened in the space of 24 hours, I feel like ive lost all motivation. After my post last night, I ate a mars bar and whatever other chocolate I could find. Today was good meal wise, but its the picking at snacks that's making me feel I'm going to fail Sad Hoping its going to pass soon. I just don't want to go back to how I used to be. Going to see if filling mfp days in advance helps, so I know exactly what I'm eating and can see how many cals I have spare. Tomorrow I will have been using MFP for 40 days now, so ive done really well up until now feeling abit crappy. Must get my positive pants back on!!!

Not2bObvious · 04/07/2017 21:56

Are you eating enough caggie? Seriously it can simply be that you've deprived yourself and a binge can follow. You didn't lose nearly a stone in a month by not cutting back a lot I'd reckon. If you could change your focus to reduce cals enough to lose 1-1.5 a day, you'll have room for error. No calories burned in beating yourself up!

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 04/07/2017 21:57

Ack! 1-1.5 a week, a day as if!

OP posts:
caggie09 · 04/07/2017 22:17

Im eating enough, my meals fill me. I think its just being bored thats make me want to eat, or because i know its there i have to have it now! Some days i dont even care for sugary stuff, some days i do. Cake

Not2bObvious · 05/07/2017 07:22

Morning all. Another couple of pounds of bloat gone, down to 11.6.4, I was 11.5.8 last Friday so 2 days to get back to that or preferably under. Did a 4.3 mile run in 45 minutes which I'm delighted with, I think I'm getting a bit faster - about blumming time!
Hope everyone's in good form

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 05/07/2017 08:24

Well done Not - both on the WI results, and on the run. The fact that you got up and out and back by 7.22 is pretty amazing for starters.

11.6 for me this morning. Quite surprised as I ate loads yesterday. Forgot to log it, but it was all good wholesome food. No sugar, v limited carbs, and no wine. Have a bit of a headache this morning so mental note to drink more water, esp as the weather is hotting-up again.

Hope you find your stop-button caggie. It is very hard to find sometimes, and far easier in theory than practice. Back on it today? It's only wednesday, so 3 really good days before the weekend can really make the difference between a gain and a maintain. Don't blow the week after a couple of bad days. Smile and think positive. You CAN do it. You have done so well til now.

Hope you are doing OK bugger & newlark. And Dr too?

2 lbs for a couple of weekends is pretty good going IME In - but you'll soon have them off again.

Not2bObvious · 05/07/2017 08:42

Well done bath, I think you must be a lot better behaved than you think! That's great to be 11.6, definitely keep up the water - I was showing a gain of 4.2 on Monday and I drank loads of water, and 3.6 of its gone in 2 days. Clearly carrying bloat from all the glugging over the weekend and v little water.

OP posts:
buggerthebotox · 05/07/2017 17:17

I'm not doing too badly this week, but today is more difficult because I don't get any exercise and I'm in an office all day. Managed to avoid a very large, very luscious packet of Midget Gems though. Halo.

I'll probably go over a bit today. Sad

caggie09 · 05/07/2017 18:44

Im over my little blip now, back to it today indeed Bath!
I don't think it would be very realistic if I didn't have a blip every now and then, its life. I'm not going to be counting every calorie I eat for the rest of my life. Its not the end of the world if I fall off for a day, I just need to get back on track. Today has been good, made my own homemade pizza, was very nice. I doubt ill see a loss this week, but if I do I would be very pleased.
I also need to be drinking a lot more water, bought two cases of bottled water. I seem to guzzle down bottle water very quick, and get my 2litres in or more, but with tap water its like I forget sometimes!
Good night everyone :]

Not2bObvious · 05/07/2017 22:25

I think it was my turn for a blip😳 Never mind, back on it like a car bonnet tomorrow. Had a family birthday and cake/treats/wine was had but I did stop and switch to water after 2 glasses. Up for a good run in the morning and then a busy mornings work before I clock off😬 Ooh getting excited!

OP posts:
caggie09 · 06/07/2017 19:43

Ive had a takeaway tonight, and now im sat eating kinder chocolate Blush I did do well up until tea time, so I'm not that worried about it really. I'm back at work tomorrow, so ill be back on track AGAIN!!
Not Atleast you got out and done a run, ive not even done that. Lol. Hope you enjoy your holiday!

Not2bObvious · 06/07/2017 20:28

Got my run in, and snap on the takeaway too caggie, but it was fine, it got my calories. Up at stupid am tomorrow but getting excited now😬

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 06/07/2017 20:29
