You're doing great on the wine resistance bath, I felt v tempted last night but managed to distract myself. I have company for dinner so there'll be wine enough tonight. The scales is down to
11.7 this morning - hurrah! Getting there. I'm lying in bed arguing with myself as to whether I should do a walk, run or rest. My knees were achey last night so I'm leaning to the side of walk, at least I'll get some steps in but won't put to much strain on them. Hmmm...I'll update later with outcome (thrilling stuff I know!)

Evening all. I'm going to put you out of your misery...I went for a walk! Sorry to leave you waiting so long for the next extract in the "Exciting life of not" (it's soo not)
I'm home from a gym, prepped dinner and now sitting down at long long last with a glass of wine, hello my old friend😉

Well done on the loss not. It's good when it comes, yes? And enjoy the wine & dinner. For once we both seem to be loosing at the same time! Hurray to us.

I've had a very inactive day - too much driving, and then meetings. So have had to be really tight on calories - finished on at about 1350. I bought a naked bar at the petrol station thinking it was the healthy option - cashew nuts and dates - to tide me over until lunch. 148 calories! Gone, in 2 mouthfuls. Only just read the calorie content as I was updating mfp. Utter rip-off. Thankfully my salad from the Co-op was only 220 calories - chicken, pesto, spinach, & courgetti.

I am learning that I like to eat a lot, and see my calories stretch further in bigger lunches & dinners, than silly calorific snacks.

caggie09 · 15/06/2017 20:55

Hi! Is it okay if I join? I've been using MFP for 20 days now. My start weight was 12st 7, I now weigh 11st 10. I've been reading this thread from when I first started using MFP and its really motivated me to keep it going, and knowing I wasn't doing it alone. The past few days I haven't been doing well. I'm basically back eating crap and snacking more! So I thought maybe if I actually join in it will get me back on track! I hope you guys don't mind :). My target weight is 9st 7/10, so I still have a long way to go! I try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week, but work sometimes gets in the way! I've not been for a week now Blush Ill weigh myself tomorrow and see if ive lost anymore, I tend to weigh ''officially'' every Friday, but take a progress picture every day! I have to admit the first picture I took, I was horrified! But I keep looking at them to push myself!

Ive never posted on Mumsnet before, this is my first post. Sorry if its long, I have no clue what to write!

Bathsheba3 · 15/06/2017 22:37

Of course it's OK if you join caggie! And well done on loss so far. Crikey, 10 lbs in 20 days is quite a bit loss. What is your mfp target set at? Think you may need to slow down, and actually eat more, to make your weight loss more sustainable in the longer term & stop returning to bad ways and eating rubbish.

Perhaps up your daily calorie amount, especially as you are exercising too, and perhaps less likely to reach for the snacks.

Talking of which I have been SO tempted to hit the snacks this eve. Have drunk a whole bottle slimline tonic instead. Bet it's full of chemicals, but not calories, thankfully. Hydrated, but bound to need the loo in the night!

Not2bObvious · 16/06/2017 05:53

Welcome caggie, I second what bathsays - maybe you're eating too little and that's why you're snacking a bit. The temptation when you see those first few pounds fall off is to cut back more and more. But it's proven to be incredibly counter productive. If you can get your head around 1-2lb on average a week and eat to lose that, you'll find you won't need to binge (or that's the hope) Don't freak out if the scales has gone up. Make that your start and keep chatting with us. If you've read the thread, you'll see plenty of fluctuations throughout - we just keep going.
Scales is down to 11.6.6, down from 11.7.8 last Friday, 11.8 the week before. I'm thrilled to be under 11.7!! Feel like I'm at the start line now. Happy Friday all

1lb off, lots of cycling is paying off!

Bathsheba3 · 16/06/2017 09:40

Good one Dr & huge well done Not to be under 11 7. Star. Whoop whoop. Now the drop to the 10s has begun in earnest. And it will soon be there too. No sabotaging at the weekend - it isn't worth it. So you must have been extra good at dinner last night, and with wine not! I'm almost frightened to drink now, incase I derail again. Does that make sense?

I'm there too, 11 6 this morning. Same yesterday, but didn't quite believe it. Just back from PT. I'm a sweaty mess.

Not2bObvious · 16/06/2017 11:22

That's great that you're at 11.6, yes indeed the march to 10 has begun in earnest. I did a 6 mile run this morning so I've earned my supper😉 I'm done with trying too hard to be good, I'm good the majority of the time. 1 meal won't matter, it's the 20 others during the week that seal the deal.
The rate I'm going, it's going to be another 6-8 weeks to 10.13 - I never thought I'd see the day where they would be ok with me😁
My biggest aim tonight is to get home at a decent hour so I'm able for my class at 8am.

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 16/06/2017 11:30

Sorry just saw what else you said there bath, have you not drank at all in the last couple of weeks? I've been sticking to 4-5 dry days a week (more 4 than 5 if I'm honest)
I had 3 glasses last night and I could have gone more but I pushed the urge down, had a fizzy water, put a child to bed and then went on the tea. I knew I needed to keep to my limits yesterday so tonight I could relax. It's all trial & error, sometimes I have to be tough with myself - and others I let the hair down a bit. The guy I follow (team RH) maintains if you're serious about losing weight and alcohol is affecting your weightloss, ditch it for the duration. I'm not advertising anyone but honestly he talks so much sense, it's made a world of difference to me doing the plan

Marking my place for the moment, I plan on signing up to MFP this weekend but need to weigh myself first. Once I have signed up I hope to join you all on this thread Smile

Bathsheba3 · 16/06/2017 14:46

6 miles is heroic not. Well done you. You've spurred me into a run tomorrow, in between mum-taxi duties.

No - haven't given up Wine for good. Drank more than my fair share last weekend at the wedding, a glass Friday, and couple more sunday to get the bottle finished for the week Wink. It's just that once I give in to one glass on a week night, on my own, then I give in to the crackers, or the kids ice cream, or anything else. And the times before I have been on diet lock-down, are the times when I give up wine. I did it last Sept & dropped nearly a stone in the month. Don't want to be quite so hard core now, but it really does help get me in the right zone mentally to be able to say NO to foodstuff.

Bathsheba3 · 16/06/2017 14:47

welcome obrigada. Good luck !!

caggie09 · 16/06/2017 15:51

I do think 10lbs is a lot too, in 20 days! My MFP target is set at 1760, some days I struggle to eat that amount, but other days I eat more snack calories than actual meal calories! The snacking is when I'm not even hungry, I just think ''oh I deserve that chocolate bar''.
Ive weighed myself today and this week its 1lb lost. I think my body is slowing down with it now! I'm glad though, id hate for it to pile on just as quick again, and if it was quick coming off. I'm going to have a chicken stir fry for tea, so I'm looking forward to it. I also bought some mini green and blacks chocolate, 85 cals each, but the smaller the better. Otherwise id eat a full bar! Blush
I'm thinking of rewarding myself when ive reached my final target to a nice underwear set! I need to look good in it!
I also love how positive you guys are! Grin

Not2bObvious · 17/06/2017 16:50

Afternoon all. Weather here is glorious and I've taken advantage of it to do a run earlier and then a lovely family walk for an hour this afternoon. I had a good night out but wasn't well enough for my 8am class - I've made up for it though. Doing ok today with cals esp since I'm a smidgen under the weather.
You're welcome obrigada

OP posts:
drspouse · 18/06/2017 11:55

Massively over yesterday but I'm pleased I logged it and didn't just go "what the hell". Will try and earn it back! But don't feel hungry today so that's good.

Not2bObvious · 18/06/2017 12:11

That's the way dr, burying your head in the sand doesn't make the excess calories go away. Good that it hasn't sent you into binge mode, get a decent walk in and that'll earn you a couple of hundred cals off what you racked up. I'm a bit headachey and dozy today after too much wine in the garden, my own cals were v high but I had burned over 2500 so I'd enough to cover it. Off out for a jog/walk now for at least 90 minutes and there'll be no wine today. Back on track 👊

OP posts:
drspouse · 18/06/2017 20:57

Loads of walking today (beach with the DCs and then camp prep with the Guides). So I am going to have some wine too.

Bathsheba3 · 18/06/2017 22:25

Not fairing very well in this heat. I'd like to blame it too for wine & crisp-fest both Friday & Saturday eves, but I can't Wink. Did manage an early run yesterday, but lazy day today at BBQ. 1 burger & bun, plus salad, but resisted everything else. Very unhopeful about WI tmw, esp as rather bunged-up (sorry TMI). Combination of low carbs, and probably dehydrated in this heat, despite drinking so much. Feel v bloated.

Impressed by you taking back control Dr. Hope you are feeling back on top form tomorrow Not.

Bathsheba3 · 19/06/2017 07:55

Rather relieved to see 11 6.75 on the scales this morning. So only 0.75 up from Friday, which must be a weekend record for me. Need to keep the momentum up now. And am wearing my shorts too, and ordered another pair. Still not a fan of my legs, so I just don't look now.

Hope everyone has a good week. Keep drinking the water.

caggie09 · 19/06/2017 09:35

I didnt do so well last night, got a takeaway. Feel guilty after having one now, wasn't even that good! Its Monday so its a fresh week, sat wit my porridge and lots of water, its too hot! Think I may of sweat a few lbs off last night lol. Got my driving test as well today so that will knock my appetite until after it. Enjoy the sun guys, and keep up the good work! :)

Bathsheba3 · 19/06/2017 10:17

Good luck with driving test caggie. Fresh week indeed.

drspouse · 19/06/2017 11:47

Erm 600 DOWN yesterday. OK 500 of that was walking/bike ride (13K steps).
Off to pick up a salad for lunch at work, and probably ingredients for a salad for tea tonight!

Not2bObvious · 19/06/2017 12:00

That's pretty darn good bath, I'm up 1.4 from Friday - the Monday gain is getting less & less. It's just flux anyway, be gone by Wednesday with plenty of water/exercise/sticking to calories. Did a 45 minute run, by heck even at 7am it was proper balmy! Not that hungry today (WTAF?!?...must be sick😉)
Best of luck caggie, keep calm you'll fly it

I failed, again. Hey ho, I just have to get on with it. Ive not eaten yet so probably be going to make a salad for dinner and tea later will be chicken burger with some carrot fries! The scales have moved up, but I'm due on soon so imagine that's why, I just looked so bloated. The hot weather helps though, makes me less snacky? Maybe because I'm drinking more water.
