OMG Daw - how much extra space in the trousers? You should be SO pleased with yourself. Am sure the charity bag is brimming. Glad you are getting shot of the big sizes. You have inspired me to do the same, ie. give away the bigger ones. But I want to get to 11 (10 13.5) first. Will take an age given how much I ate at the weekend. But 10k steps this morning, and a 5k run this aftn. Well done you too not, class and a jog. Good start to the week.

Haven't logged my calories yet, but
B = sugar-free muesli & oat milk,
L = 6 walnut halves (old mother hubbard)
D = prawn, veg & noodle stir fry (after trip to supermarket!)

Sugarandsalt · 13/02/2017 19:37

Loli you are doing amazingly well, I have an apron too which is going nowhere fast I'm afraid.

Dawhead wow that's some result!

Not well done on the workout.

I'm just leaving work and have a pounding headache. On call for the night too so doubt I'll get any exercise in. Did my usual 15k steps but need to start back at the HIIT this week.

JontyDoggle37 · 13/02/2017 20:07

Bath glad you had a lovely weekend
Sesame hang on to your halo!
Not well done on getting out there again
Daw that is AMAZING
Have eaten a bit more than originally planned today but still under 1900 I think and as TOTM came today to join in the party 🙄I think that's pretty ok. I swung by Tesco's after my chest X-ray and picked up some bits for valentines dinner tomorrow night and didnt buy any wine!!!! So proud of myself for that 😁 Am exhausted tonight and was hoping to be heading off to bed now but DS I think has had slightly too long a nap today and is wide awake and refusing to go to sleep. Usually I'd go to bed anyway and DH would stay up with him but unbelievably he's hurt his back and can't even pick DS up (seriously, I should sell my life to bloody Eastenders or something at the moment, you couldn't make it up!) so I have to stay up until DS goes to bed. It's not worth putting him back in his cot now because he's genuinely not sleepy at all...oh well. Just starting an interesting self-help book titled 'I know how she does it' about how women can successfully balance all the demands on them without having a breakdown!

Needastrongone · 13/02/2017 22:28

Guys, forgive a lazy post as I've skim read.

Jonty I am glad the GP gave you stronger medication but sorry your DS is still on the go!

Daw. Wow, amazing. Look at the difference. Be so proud of yourself, what an achievement. Stick everything you can in that charity bag as it ain't never going back on girl!!

Loli Fantastic that you stood up for yourself. I'm glad you had the confidence to retaliate. I know exactly what you mean, I'm not sure what maintenance is either.

Not. You are a serial exerciser. Fact.

Bath You didn't eat much today? You okay?

JontyDoggle37 · 14/02/2017 03:26

Well, DS crashed about five minutes after I posted (yay!).
It being TOTM, I'm now awake with b*dy stomach ache, sat drinking tea waiting for the painkillers to kick in.
As it's Valentines today, we've got our special meal tonight that I bought yesterday - steak, chips and peas with a 'caramel reveal' dessert afterwards. Thought I'd plug in all the calories while I'm sat here - oh my! The dessert alone is over 500 calories 😱 Have juggled breakfast plans a little and plugged in a light chicken salad for lunch and think I can still come in for the day at around 1850 without under fuelling myself. I'm still off sick but DH has to leave for meetings in London at 6am so I've got to get myself up, showered and get DS up and off to childminder, and then get the dry washing mountain put away and the dishwasher emptied and restocked before our cleaner arrives at 9, so she can actually clean - it will be the most I've done in a week, going to get going early and pace myself, then have a big lay down afterwards! Have a good day everyone

Not2bObvious · 14/02/2017 07:20

Isn't it criminal what calories are hidden in cake/dessert jonty, well done for ignoring the wine. By the time you've eaten the mains, you probably won't manage the full dessert (of course totm is a sugar zombie so no guarantees!)
Back to Fridays weight of 11.5.6, thrilled. I got roses, non edible & big box of chocs...all too edible. I shall need to be vigilant

JontyDoggle37 · 14/02/2017 08:15

Well done Not and points to Mr Not for the non edible gift (he's probably hoping you'll share the chocolates!😂)
Forgot to weigh in this morning because I was so focused on getting everything done. Have started tracking all the time I spend on everything because of this book in reading - it's very revealing! Realised I keep trying to multitask by eating. And checking pohone or playing with DS and checking emails, so yesterday evening I just made myself put the phone down and just play with him - it was lovely and I felt much calmer and less stressed as well, my head wasn't so busy. Made myself do the same with breakfast today too, just ate, then let myself have five minutes on Mumsnet! Going to carry on reading today will share any other nuggets I come across!

Bathsheba3 · 14/02/2017 08:27

Glad your DS finally got to sleep jonty - that could have been a nightmare! Hmm, I think you are right too in the multi-tasking. I have so much on the go at the same time, that I never feel I fully complete one task, and so constantly feel overwhelmed with the to-do list. Not helped by the fact I work largely from home, and so the domestic chores mess are all around me. And I feel p'd off for not achieving much in the day, so I reach for the wine to shut-it-out, and also polished-off kids cake last night too.

Sorry - that was real me me me.

That is blooming' great news on the WI Not. Brilliant. And nice you were remembered on valentines day! I got a card, and asked him what he was cooking me for dinner this eve. ha ha !! He'd happily eat a bowl of pasta. I couldn't think of anything worse. So he said he'd pick up some broccoli to go with. Watch this space!

Take it easy today jonty - and get yourself properly better this time. I am still in awe of how great you look Daw. Really great - and I'm not referring to the gap between you & the trousers! You should be so proud. And I certainly did eat enough yesterday thanks Need. I forgot to allocate my snack allowance Wink plus cheese and cake after dinner [shame].

Enough ramblings. Must crack on

Sugarandsalt · 14/02/2017 08:41

Well done Not and enjoy an edible treat or two. But stop then!

Jonty my DD gets a burst of energy every evening. She's most certainly a night owl. The upside to that is that at weekends and holidays we all get to stay in bed until 9ish.

My day started with a call from work at 5am. Since I was awake I decided to do a short Pilates video and make Valentine's Day pancakes for DH and DD. I think DH was the more excited one of the pair.

Today's food: porridge (was out of almond milk so used whole milk so more cals than usual.
Lunch is a tuna salad
Dinner is a siracha chicken traybake.

Will be 1400-1500 cals.

Not2bObvious · 14/02/2017 08:54

Well done for turning the early work into an opportunity to get the Pilates in sugar, I toyed with the idea of making pancakes but I'm a bit creaky after yesterday's weights. I set up the kids little valentines treats & cards so they were distracted. Haha bath on the meal - I don't think most men are wired to think of that. Himself suggested getting an m&s deal so I wouldn't have to cook - fine in theory but technically still needs to be cooked. I said b*llix to that, I only need a nice steak and if I want cava I've some in the fridge. I know from bitter experience I hither & dither trying to find something from the choice that isn't mega calorific, at least this way I can control it better & do it for half the cost and half the calories. I was mortified this morning as I just bought him a card from Aldi, I should have bought him some sort of gift, but after 20 years you don't think of them I find - the main focus is on the kids. I might try grab him a little something later, I know it's only a Hallmark holiday but hey it's a bit of fun too.
Not much of an appetite 'this morning, I had a bowl of rice crispies just to line my stomach - hope I don't regret it. Busy day ahead, no gym tonight as I don't think I have the energy or time but maybe I'll get a jog in. We shall see

OP posts:
Sugarandsalt · 14/02/2017 09:28

If it makes you feel better Not pancakes were DHs present. And I picked him up a card in the hospital shop. Valentines is not a holiday I care about tbh!

Lolimax · 14/02/2017 09:52

Morning my lovely lovely valentine super slimmers! Due to staff shortages and cock ups I'm covering Reception for an hour. Not able to get any work done so you can keep me company instead. Rush of blood to the head earlier and I saw a 2 and a half hour assault course advertised not far from us on Sunday. Gulp. I tagged the DC's on Facebook and so far DS 19 and DD 20 are well up for it. Still waiting to hear from the littlest one DSS 14. Unfortunately DH can't take part due to his health condition but I'm quite excited that the new me will be even attempting it!

Not2bObvious · 14/02/2017 11:44

You're pure badass loli, assault course no less! It sounds like a great family day out, pity your dh can't take part but I'm sure he'll cheer you on. Hope work is ok after the other days drama. I'm helping out family today by minding little people & working remotely, you forget how much chit chat there is with little folk and how much snacking. Not that much damage done but will need to control the munchies, it is the house of goodies! Off to make a tent in between a bit of credit control

SesameSparkle · 14/02/2017 13:34

daw woohoo! Amazing work on the trews!!! Star So glad that you are feeling better and back on it! Grin I’m also amazed that you own a meter length rail of trousers! Shock I don’t own anymy new shape doesn’t fit them ….Hmm

jonty hope you have a lovely time tonight, enjoy that pudding too, you’ve earned it! Wink I hear you on the multi-tasking, I’m always doing something like looking at my phone mumsnet while eating, which is definitely a bad habit.

not nice work from your dh on the roses. I’m sure you can share the chocs….? Or send them this way Wink

bath so pleased that there was cheese and cake to counteract yesterday’s sparse lunch offerings, we wouldn’t want you wasting away…. Grin

sugar valentines pancakes sound lush. Is it bad that I’m already thinking about saving up some calories for pancake day?

loli wowee on that assault course, you will storm it!

Weighed in at 9st8 this morning with a modest amount of hot stepping. I was last there on 5 January, so I am really pleased to see the bottom end of my maintain zone again.

My bf is abroad, so all I got this morning were virtual hearts and flowers lazy. Hmm I think I may have to treat myself to a little something with my coffee later….

Sugarandsalt · 14/02/2017 14:11

Loli that sounds hardcore! Good on you. Need to get exercising again. Not that sounds pretty stressful actually. I'm looking forward to an evening making tents with DD. And trying to figure out why she has given up using the toilet at nursery. Sigh!

Sesame I'm sure you could fit in the occasional pancake on maintenance? They were just plain pancakes with a little lemon and sugar, not in any way fancy!

Anyone have nice meals planned this week?

Bathsheba3 · 14/02/2017 14:51

All the talk of trousers, I nipped into gap & found THE BEST pair of jeans ever - skinny jeans for curvy people. OMG. And they were on special offer too. I've always had a problem with skinny jeans fitting over my hips / thighs, and fairy godmother has waved her magic wand. I've been in my 32 skinnys with belt to clinch in the waist for so long, and fit into 30. admittedly I tried the normal skinny jeans in same size 30 & couldn't get them over my mid-thigh

Plus I relented and got meal-in for £20 from waitrose; I agree not - was much better than the m&s selection I looked at yesterday. Anything is better than a bowl of pasta. Kids will have the salted caramel tarts for pud, and I had one of the starters for my lunch, so actually more economical than I thought!

Your fire has def been re-lit Loli. You'll be signing up for the Great North Run or an iron woman challenge before you know it Wink

Great maintenance sesame. You doing OK with your food sugar? I can't believe you have been up since 5. You sound very important! I think you deserve a night off exercise not if you can - ah go on, treat yourself. I bought my DH a bag of mini eggs, plus choccies for my DC's too. Ahh. They were delighted, & it diffused the normal morning angst. Hurray!

Needastrongone · 14/02/2017 16:33

Afternoon.

Well done on the weight loss Sesame, and getting back to bottom of maintenance.

Jeans sounds great Bath. Jeans are tricky aren't they? I can only buy Next, being 5ft (short arse).

Wow Loli, fantastic. Sounds brill. I would love to do stuff like that. Walked the dogs today with a guy doing an Ultra next week, 55 miles. That's my plan in 2019.

Don't worry about the exercise Not. You've done so much. One day can recharge the batteries, I didn't run yesterday and my legs were glad of it today.

We don't do Valentines. That's because it's our anniversary tomorrow, 18 years married. I'm with you Sugar, it's commercialised really.

Hear you on the multi tasking Jonty.

Daw I will always eat when hungry, folk might think I've got food issues being pretty small, I really really haven't! Fuel to run, my mantra. Smile

So, today I have done an exercise class (cardio and core). Then went to the track and bashed out an interval session, pushed very hard and felt sick afterwards but all good. Not having a hungry day either. 7.5 this morning which is fine.

Breakfast - Egg on toast.
Lunch - Quinoa salad, fruit and yogurt.
Dinner - stuffed peppers with bolognese and halloumi, salad.
Snack - Graze flapjack and wine.

Weather is stunning so walked the dogs for 4 miles too. Half term next week for us though.

Needastrongone · 14/02/2017 16:37

Ps. This is my latest progress photo. I'm not sharing to be a twat, I'm sharing cos I'm a 45 year old middle aged codger who has never had defined abs before. It can be done, age is no barrier. But I've had to work at it !!!!

MFP Thread 8
Sugarandsalt · 14/02/2017 16:56

Bath we seem to be a similar shape. I am always dealing with loose waists on my trousers to fit in my substantial backside! I'm not especially important I'm afraid- I'm in healthcare so am on call for emergencies/advice in my speciality overnight. Sometimes I need to go in so a call at 5am is acceptable! I'm going to hit 1600cals today I think, just had some nuts. All good food though. Have a headache now so doubt I'll get planned workout in, but did Pilates and walked 15000 steps. Will try get jogging again this week, have done about a million squats to strengthen my quads and hopefully avoid recurrent knee pain.

Need I can only say wow!

Needastrongone · 14/02/2017 17:30

Hope the headache clears Sugar. I always have loose waisted jeans too, very common. It's the jeans, not our shapes. Grin.

Thank you. I've worked hard, but any one can do it. I truly believe that. Honestly. Whatever age. Not that you have to, but you can do it you want to.
-tries not to sound like an idiot-

JontyDoggle37 · 14/02/2017 17:41

I have to say, you lot are an amazing bunch!
Need your abs are amazing
Bath congrats on the skinny jeans
Not super well done on embedding your exercise into your daily life
Daw the trousers, the trousers
Sugar well done in exercising after getting woken up early that's takes motivation.
My calorie count has gone a bit tits up today, horse came out extraordinarily lame, ended up getting coffee and a small choc bar while waiting for the vet, which took care of 400 calories 🙄 Looks like a stone got in between the pads on his shoes and his foot, so good news it's not tendons or anything. Bad news is while I was politicking his foot he had a bit of a 'special' moment and trapped my wrist between his legs and mushed it a bit. Slightly wrong shaped wrist now - icing it and hoping it's just a bruise, didn't feel anything snap anyway 🙄

Not2bObvious · 14/02/2017 18:05

Goodness you lot have been busy while I've been out & about (smallies wanted to be with me every minute, lovely really)
Wow dem abs need, defined! Looking good, swit swoo! Yes you're dead right age is hardly a barrier - certainly not yet. I'm a sprightly 42 and I'm fitter than I've ever been. Just need a bit more confidence I think. No exercise today, just could not be fit into the day, impossible. Ate more today than I intended but nothing to be worried about. I am starving for my steak and gratin potatoes but it'll be another 45 mins til everything's ready. Sitting down with a glass of red in my relatively tidy lounge. Your poor horse jonty, and your poor wrist, hope it's ok. Well whatever about us old sceptics not believing in valentines, my girls are loving the day! They made a card for my dear old Dad, he was delighted. It's actually the 20th anniversary of himself & me's first date. When I think back...start of a great love (don't all be getting sick now)

OP posts:
DawheadAwgusEeentock · 14/02/2017 18:33

Thank you all for indulging me yesterday.

Not you really are doing so brilliantly with all the exercise - it's fantastic. Woohoo on being back down to Friday's weight Star you might even exceed 11.4 at this rate. Your afternoon sounded mad but in a lovely, fun way. Also yay for the roses and choccies - think you can well afford to indulge a little. And that's so lovely about the card for your DDad. And swit swoo - first date on Valentine's Day - that is lovely . Yay for Wine and enjoy the steak - yum.

Bath hehe if you could see my real shape you'd be horrified - I was strategically hiding my big tummy Wink. Your shape, however, sounds gorgeous - curvy with a skinny waist! Yay for great jeans - I can't wear skinnies cos of my (still) chunky thighs so I have jeans-envy now. Waitrose meal sounds lovely - glad you're having a nice day.

Sugar Gosh you're suffering a bit with headaches - could you be dehydrated or is it work/stress? Hope you're not on call again tonight and that you can try to get some rest? You're doing brilliantly with the calories.

Jonty well done on resisting the wine!! That book sounds really good - my time management is diabolical and I have no excuse except work and bad planning so I am all ears. I was hoping we wouldn't see you on here today (in a nice way) as you were awake so early Sad but gosh you're just starting to be on the mend and now your poor wrist!!! Flowers and hope it isn't any worse than a bruise like you said. Hope the meal tonight is lovely and makes up for it somehow.

Need see - I KNEW you would have abs like that - exactly like (or even better than) Jessica Ennis!! I know it's a bit of a cliche - but you genuinely are so inspiring - you look stunning. I doubt I'll ever have abs, but even if I could get a semi-flat stomach in the next year I'd be thrilled and it would be the next level for me. That interval session sounds tough but well done on finishing it! And Happy Anniversary in advance for tomorrow Flowers.

Loli wow an assault course sounds amazing! Like the ladies said - so brilliant that your family can join in.

Sesame before I had to wfh, I always wore trousers to work - I don't really own any skirts or work dresses - never was slim enough truth be told. Well done on losing the 1lb Star! You really are doing great at maintenance. And YY to treating yourself today - hope you have already.

All fine here, finished on 1235 yesterday, yay. Had a slight dither last night as H opened another box of choccies Angry but I resisted woohoo. I did crave something sweet though, so with nothing else in the house I had a glass of warm milk/water that only came to 40 cals. Just a boring pork chop with veg tonight so coming in at 1160 for today, although I might indulge slightly, we'll see. Still feeling determined not to derail myself which is good enough.

The only VDay contribution I can add is that (sad as it makes me) every year my DMum sends me a VDay card from a secret admirer Grin - even at this old age (both her's and mine haha). This year's is from the dog to me and H and says "To my two best friends - thanks for loving me". Aww Blush.

Needastrongone · 14/02/2017 20:16

Not Thanks. Don't think you need to exercise, you have done loads this last few weeks. Enjoy your meal. I'm so pleased that you are fitter and fabulous at 42 than you have ever been, and long may it continue. It gives your MH such a boost I think.

Daw Nope, not Jess Ennis, or even close!!! Good calories count for today. Does your DH do MFP too?

Not2bObvious · 14/02/2017 20:20

Aww, the card from you mam sounds so sweet dawg, and well done resisting the chocs. I've had 3 sweets and put them away, put the lid back on the wine and having a cuppa. Watching the program about diet fails on C4, scary and sobering
