Usermuser I'm new to this thread but finding it interesting. I'm looking for motivation to fight the middle age spread- 45years is fast approaching. I don't consider myself a hugely unhealthy weight, 5"4 and 9.11. I used an all knowing weighing device last week. 30% is my body fat percentage. SHIT! 😫 it also said that my ideal weight is 8st 11. I would have to just eat salad to reach that weight! But demotivating but am trying to refocus away from running to diet as I strongly believe that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% diet. Am cutting alcohol intake too, would like to meet the guidance in terms of weekly units at least and then some more ...

Usermuser · 10/02/2017 11:35

Millie, 9.11 at 5'4" seems about right. Your body fat percentage is better than mine anyway. I think 30% is about average. I reckon I'm going to just use mine as a comparison point to see if I can reduce it and not worry too much if it's completely accurate.
You're right about food. Unless you're doing Michael Phelps or Andy Murray levels of exercise, diet is the main key to weight loss. What diet do you have in mind? Low carb? BSD? 5:2? Or just calorie counting?

Archduke · 10/02/2017 12:20

Just been out for dinner and had my first alcoholic drink(s) since Dec 31.

Had 2 glasses of Frosé, do you have that in Blighty? Frozen slushy Rosé. Absolutely delish. Partic on a hot night. Oh and a glass of Sauv Blanc. Again superb, my congratulations to the chef etc etc.

Obv that meant I ate like a horse, mostly cheese to be honest. Was a bluddy funny night tho. So totes worth it.

Somo my 5'2" goal is 9st, I was 8.4ish when I married and thought I was fat. FAT. FFS. I remember going for one of those wrap things just before the wedding to lose some inches Hmm. I have a reasonably small frame but am ancient so need to be smaller so not fat, but then don't want to be gaunt. Although a bit gaunter than I am now would be splendid.

HairsprayBabe · 10/02/2017 12:56

NSV for meeee!

Dinner lady in the canteen at work just said I look great, how long have I been on the diet there will be nothing left of you soon etc Grin

Frose sounds amazing... I think I saw it in some of the trendier bars round here last summer, might be a little on the chilly side for me to day though, what with it snowing and all!

BitOutOfPractice · 10/02/2017 13:12

Archie I am giving you a cold and dirty look for all your hot evening frosé talk. It's snowing here too Confused

Hairspray it's lovely to get comments like that. Gives you areal lift doesn't it?

Stellar67 · 10/02/2017 13:55

Somo I was just going to go with 7lbs at a time and see what I feel comfortable with. No target. I just know I'm overweight and it needs to go.

Frosé, cheese, hot night? Very envious Arch. I've had lukewarm coffee, a tunnocks tea cake and school heating.

Woohoo hairspray. Grin

Softpebbles · 10/02/2017 13:55

Don't care it's been snowing pass the Frose! Our snow has stopped. Not a tiny bit settled. Can't say I'm to fussed about the snow to be honest. Be nice to have a day with loads of it but then it could do one!

Arch and pony thanks for your kind words. It's Friday and that in itself makes everything better. Friday is freezer food day for the dc's, they are 8 and 14. I was a child bride Grin I'm hoping for steak and salad (and Frose in the sunshine - I can dream!)

Well done last!

User the scales must be inaccurate!

HairsprayBabe · 10/02/2017 14:16

It is really nice BOOP especially when the scales have been so bloody sticky all week!

ArseyTussle · 10/02/2017 15:33

Scales v sticky here too, up and down the same 400g. Angry

Archduke · 10/02/2017 20:49

Oooh snow! How exciting.

Don't worry you'll all be gulping down Frosé in your bikinis on a Greek beach shortly while it's freezing and pissing down here. and I will want to kill you all

Nice NSV Hairspray.

Off to Parkrun this morning. Well, it will be Parkwalk as my leg is still too stuffed to run, although may try a gentle jog.

ponygirlcurtis · 10/02/2017 21:01

Snow here too today. Never mind Frost, I was frozen at work, having to supervise the playground for 45mins at lunchtime. Still not quite warmed up!

Soft I am having steak tonight - all added on MFP though. Smile

My Hairy Bikers book has arrived! Can't wait to read it.

ponygirlcurtis · 10/02/2017 21:02

Never mind Frosé... Way to ruin a joke! Envy

BitOutOfPractice · 10/02/2017 21:22

Shall we all pretend that didn't happen pony and you can try it again?

OP posts:
ponygirlcurtis · 10/02/2017 21:41

That would be most kind, thank BOOP.

Ahem.

Never mind Frosé... I was frozen at work today!

Just checking in, have had a slack-ish couple of days with my Mum visiting, but back on it tomorrow! Fingers crossed another half pound off this weekend.

And pony so smooth! (Have only read your most recent post, honest...)

BitOutOfPractice · 10/02/2017 22:35

I was going to be dry today but I've only just sat down from gym / work / housework / faffing so I've poured a glass of wine and going to watch graham norton. I'm rock and roll I am.

I am applying for a job. I want to employ someone to apply for jobs for me. You need to write brilliant cover letters and 8 page application forms. I would pay you in cake. And Frosé. Anyone interested?

FreeNiki · 11/02/2017 01:37

I lost 5lbs in January and put 2lbs back on having not changed a thing.

Binge ate a load of chocolate and cake as I thought pointless to diet if it is just not going to work. So to start again......Sad

hadtomakeanawfuldecision · 11/02/2017 04:31

Auto correct ruins all my jokes/emails too pony.

Hey arch frosé sounds amazing. Am stocking up for our leaving do so will look for some relatively cheap rosé (even absolutely vile wine is atound AU$25 here so freezing it and sticking in some comedy cocktail umbrellas may improve it). I am also applying for Uni courses at the moment and am writing creepy personal statements, somewhat enhanced CVs and grovelling letters to referred. It is not fun.

niki when I moved out to Tropical land I had about ten courses of antibiotics (no joke) and put on 7kg. So one of my other big things is probiotics (kefir, fermented veg, kombucha). I am hoping that at some point all those lovely microbes melt away the fat. But have you had any medicines was meant to be my question/consolation.

boop did you see Keanu on Graham
N? Is he still hot? (My TV viewing is mostly vicarious via MN)

I have been so motivated reading all your posts that I have logged on MFP religiously and dropped a mighty 0.3kg. Am sticking with it in the hope that my body gets the message soon. Our date night tonight is a super sweaty night walk to a treetop bar (pre burn wine calories). Hoping the monkeys along the way will be asleep and there aren't too many massive creepy crawlies out and about.

We are lucky enough to have live in help here so food (hideously expensive- eg a cauliflower was £13 last time we had it) is bought and prepared for us. But I am utterly lacking in inspiration for meal planning and my kids are Super fussy. And my helper doesn't like cooking much or reading recipes. So we still end up eating the same ten meals or so , I am desperately excited about returning to the UK to shop at Lidl and Sainsbos but fear meal variety will still be minimal.
I love my paleo and Whole30 cookbooks tho' as prefer a protein and veg heavy meal to eg stir fried rice or noodles with a tiny bit of veg and meat.

Homemade chicken soup has been my saviour this week. And super expensive paleo snack bars for a mid morning breakfast after park bootcamp and before lunch.

Have a good weekend.

hadtomakeanawfuldecision · 11/02/2017 04:40

I realise my last post may have come across as whinging that my diamond shoes are too tight. V aware we are Super lucky having a helper and I should take the lack of hula hoops and digestive biscuits as a blessing really)

BeyondUnderthinking · 11/02/2017 08:04

Today I am down 5 Linda's on my Feb starting weight, but it was a bit artificially inflated so I'm not counting it as a real five.

However I am now only 3 Linda's off my end of November lowest :) :)

ArseyTussle · 11/02/2017 08:04

Ooh, your life sounds exciting hadto, albeit a bit sweaty. Where are you, or is that too outing?

Niki, don't give up, we've not become overweight because we're immune to stuffing food in our faces, so it's unrealistic to think that those bad habits will just disappear. I've had bad days since January too, but overall I'm eating much better than I was, and that's what I hang on to. Keep going.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/02/2017 08:30

10.11.75! Yay! I've changed my mind - I do love the BSD!

Hadto, are you in the Middle East? I nearly moved to Qatar last year but the deal fell through at the last minute.

I've started a new exercisy thing - yesterday I was reading the thread about trampolining and someone recommended an exercise programme called Momma Strong. Crap name, but it's HIIT while focussing on your pelvic floor. I'm starting with a 2 week Core Camp, which teaches me to engage my core at all times. I have been told some of this before by the women's physio I saw, but it's much better having a video to follow than trying to follow a worksheet. Then you move on to the HIIT. It costs $2 a month so a lot better than £44 a session at the physio!
