Not at all hadto - there are challenges in every situation. £13 for a cabbage is astronomical! The kefir and fermented veg sound interesting though, it's all about gut bacteria is that right? Seen a wee bit on TV about them recently.

Niki but you are still 3lbs down from where you were, that's great. Draw a line, move on, don't beat yourself up. You can do it - you already have!

Yaaaay Beyond and Cheddar! I am also back in the 10s (and just squeaked into the next lb down too Wink).

lastqueenofscotland · 11/02/2017 08:54

At my mothers this weekend so can't weigh until Monday, must stay on track!!

Off for a nice 3 mile jog in the snow. Envy

hadtomakeanawfuldecision · 11/02/2017 08:59

tooextra I'm in Singapore. I don't think i wojkd cope with Middle East heat and women's right situation. Tho' friends love it.
Like the idea of the trampoline and pelvic floor toning. In need of that!

hadtomakeanawfuldecision · 11/02/2017 09:03

expat :wow to snow. And self discipline to run in it. My Ma is weight obsessed so every bathroom and bedroom has scales. We have one but it is linked to the Fitbit which means it can be annoying to have blips logged. Tho' I want to connect a new MFP account to my Fitbit app and it won't play ball as my defunct account is already linked so Fitbit is in woeful ignorance of my healthy eating attempts. Maybe it would give me some weightloss if it saw how hard I was trying..

Stellar67 · 11/02/2017 09:06

Well done beyond and cheddar!

Niki I have days like that. You can't undo it so as
Pony says, draw a line.

Enjoy the snow jog last. We have snow here too. I'm going to read my book and let the DCs play. I'm having a lazy day.

Millie04 · 11/02/2017 10:09

Usermuser I'm going to attempt a bit of control and 'conscious eating.' Fell off that particular wagon last night though when garlic bread, red wine and crisps were consumed, but not in excess, so still some control!
Pre Christmas I got a few pounds off by intermittent fasting. I found it quite easy. No food post 7pm until about 11am the next day. This approach applies a different kind of control and worked well as mornings are bloody hectic so not having to think about my breakfast was useful! I've attempted 5:2 but not got the right personality for that one. I couldn't stop thinking about food all day and didn't have the staying power. Intermittent fasting had other benefits like my mind felt a bit sharper and less bloating.
Might start that on Monday for two weeks and it'll probably result in just water loss to begin with but I'd like to see the scales moving in the right direction for a change!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/02/2017 12:55

What was that? Did you hear something? There it goes again!

FreeNiki · 11/02/2017 13:12

Ok this absolutely insane. I dropped the calorie counting, allowed myself chocolate, cakes, pizza, etc.

I get on the scale after a few days of this and the extra kilo i regained is back off again.

Wtf.

QuimReaper · 11/02/2017 14:38

Guuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrr...

We went to a friend's place for dinner last night.

There was wine.

We left at half two in the morning.

It was ace Grin

QuimReaper · 11/02/2017 14:44

Welcome FreeNiki! Funny how that happens sometimes, innit Grin I used to sometimes notice a big drop after a night's drinking, something to do with dehydration? Just goes to show you really mustn't get bogged down in blips, they're completely inexplicable most of the time!

I am still STUCK. Well, I didn't manage to weigh properly yesterday due to the day going pear-shaped. I ended up running out of time and having to rush to the Dr to get a rash seen to. I wish I had taken the 10 mins to get myself weighed properly, since I ended up seeing a nurse instead of a doc, and she basically just vaguely said it looked like an allergy and to take antihistamines next time Hmm Thanks. Very illuminating.

But I did hop on the manual scales (is that what they are? Non digital anyway, with a good old-fashioned dial) and it said I was stuck.

At least it's not a gain I guess, but harumph anyway! Next week I will see a loss, IwillIwillIwill...

QuimReaper · 11/02/2017 14:48

How are you supposed to shift fat but not weight?

THIS is the question! I wish I knew! I am just plugging away at the 5:2 and keeping up with my swimming, but my huge jiggly mid-section isn't going anywhere.

Millie there are a couple of other 16:8ers on the thread too, TVHubby seems to have had some success - I try broadly to follow it too, and manage it most days: even on weekends when I drink and don't count calories I usually don't really eat much until dinner, just subsist on gallons of tea. I sort of feel like it might offset some of the indulgence!

Chocolate buttons frequently feature though, so probably not Blush

ArseyTussle · 11/02/2017 15:07

I'm a 16:8er too Millie!

KikisDeliveryService · 11/02/2017 15:39

I do a mix of 5:2 and 16:8 during by the week. The Linda finally shifted after my fast day fail on thurs (turned into a 16:8) and a proper fast day re-do on Friday.

Now icing my ankle which is complaining after 2 hours learning/revising some sparring routines involving knife and stick attacks and a sword form! Way more fun than running...

Wooden sword, rubber/plastic knife btw Grin

KikisDeliveryService · 11/02/2017 15:41

I am still grouchy though, it feels weather related. So much grey and gloom.

FreeNiki · 11/02/2017 16:31

Im only just overweight.
I have a BMI of 26.5

I need to lose about 6kg.

Maybe that is why its so hard.

KikisDeliveryService · 11/02/2017 16:41

Niki I'm teetering back and forth on the cusp of normal/overweight (balance currently tipped my favour, hooray!) and yes, it is really hard losing anything. I'm happy to lose at rate of 1-2lbs per month as long as it stays off!

BitOutOfPractice · 11/02/2017 17:41

My BMI is now 25.4. Sooooo close!

Hello from cold and grey but very beautiful Shropshire

OP posts:
FreeNiki · 11/02/2017 17:42

Mine goes up and down 5kg loads
It doesnt stay off.

KikisDeliveryService · 11/02/2017 18:03

When I was still maintaining niki I had to continue with intermittent fasting and healthy food and exercise lifestyle to keep it off. The lighter you are and the older you get, the less you can eat. Sadly.

I put the weight back on when I stopped IF and had to slow down my exercise due to an injury, which made me miserable enough to not care about it so much anymore.

My problem is that unless I exercise I don't have the inspiration to keep my weight down. The two elements seem to encourage and enhance each other.

Archduke · 12/02/2017 01:30

I agree Kiki. For me the weight loss is all about the food I eat, but the motivation (the crucial bit) is ALL ABOUT THE EXERCISE.

I'm still stuck too Quim. Been aaages now fgs. Although I too am down to needing to lose the last few kg so 'spose it'll take a while.

I read this REALLY ANNOYING article last night about the "Queen of Detox" (who no one has ever heard of even here in Aus), who lost 20kg in 5 months. I read it expecting some enlightenment but basically she was pretty big - 120kg, and lost 20kg by, er, eating healthily and not too much. NO SHIT SHERLOCK.

The best food advice is only 7 words. . .

Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.

There. Done.

I've just been for a slow run/walk am still taking it easy as my leg is still a bit sore. Just had some cereal and banana, will have chicken salad for dinner and that's more or less it for me.

ArseyTussle · 12/02/2017 07:28

I'm fed up, have gained 1lb. Buggery fuck.

ponygirlcurtis · 12/02/2017 09:10

Don't think of it as gaining Arsey, but as a fluctuation. My weight can change up or down by as much as 4lbs overnight. There's no way that's loss or gain, just water weight or food hanging around in the system. (As it were.) Drink lots of water today.

ponygirlcurtis · 12/02/2017 09:27

I was Hmm reading the article Arch - 20kg in 5 months means basically she lost the standard 2lbs a week. By cutting out sugar, wheat and dairy - so mostly low carbing by the sounds. Nothing unusual. The one thing I did agree with is the idea of stress and emotional eating being a major factor for many of us, and the idea of it 'clicking'. I have started trying to lose weight many times but sometimes my head wasn't in the right place and so I would lose my focus and drift back to my old eating habits. It's only since I addressed my emotional eating a couple of years ago and have been in a better place in my head that things have fallen into place with my eating and weight loss followed. slowly...

BitOutOfPractice · 12/02/2017 10:03

Arsey grrr that's annoying. Don't give up though. KOKO

Archey you're right that article is bloody annoying
