Morning all, and welcome and Flowers for hadtomake.

400g off today, so hopefully I'm on for a 1 - 1.5lb loss for the first week of Feb. 10.4lb lost so far, and another 2lb will take me below 200lb for the first time in living memory.

Went out for dinner last night and had a really tedious steak salad when I really wanted a pulled pork burger. Angry

Usermuser · 05/02/2017 08:25

Hadtomake, I'm. So sorry for your loss.

Arsey, I bet your pleased with yourself now for having the salad though?

I had takeout last night. Massaman curry with tofu. No rice. No idea how many calories that was, but I suspect a lot.
Oh, and oreos. And hot chocolate with whipped cream. I might skip weighing today. I wish I could say today will be better but we're going to boyfriend's family for tea. His mum seems to have the philosophy that there's no food that can't be improved by cooking it in a vat of fat, and smothering it in cheese, or drowning it in cream and sugar.

ArseyTussle · 05/02/2017 08:58

Yes User, I do feel rather virtuous. 🏆

For anyone considering lower carbing I'd recommend the foreword to Tom Kerridge's Dopamine Diet book, he writes very well about us needing to recalibrate our desire for white starchy food alongside our meals. Fortunately whilst I love sourdough bread I'm not that bothered about potatoes, rice and pasta. DP is a white carbs fiend though, and he's finding the methodology in the book helpful.

hadtomakeanawfuldecision · 05/02/2017 09:06

Tbf usermuser I suspect most of us would agree with your BF's Ma which is why we are here in the first place.
And well done arseytussle, I had a depressing salad wrap for lunch instead of delish dim sum as one is calorific and moreish and the other less so.

MorrisZapp · 05/02/2017 09:09

I can't give up carbs or sugar, I'm an eighties dieter and love the F Plan :)

Just had my daily AllBran. Going for a long run today, will probably have sweets as a reward.

The scales are moving slowly but they're moving south, that's enough for me. My dream is to be able to wear the sharp 'street fashion' styles I love without looking laughable. You never see a fat Mod do you :)

ArseyTussle · 05/02/2017 09:37

I'll make some changes to my style when I'm thinner too, Morris. I love sharp edgy clothes (I like most of what Zoe Ball wears) but it's not really a goer at the moment.

I can only dream of losing enough weight - and gaining enough height - for Cos. Grin

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 05/02/2017 10:13

Morning all :)
Plodding on here, nothing much to report

ponygirlcurtis · 05/02/2017 11:10

Morning. My scales seem to have shifted downwards after a few days of being stuck - but I am always a bit suspicious of the new lower number till I have seen it there for a few days in a row! I am going to try a fast day on Thursday I think, shake things up a bit.

Well done on the loss Arsey - steak salad was worth it!

Keep going Beyond, it can feel like a plod sometimes can't it.

I am trying to revise my style too. Had my hair cut yesterday in a very different style for me, it just won't go with my fallback slouchy clothes. Years of just buying clothes based on how much they cover me up rather than whether I look good in them! So I am trying to find what suits me.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 05/02/2017 11:12

Morning all!

Hadto, so sorry for your loss.

Day 1 of the Blood Sugar Diet! Scrambled eggs with mushrooms consumed so far, plus cup of tea. 261 cals.

Archduke · 05/02/2017 11:24

Morris weren't the Mods all on speed? I might give it a whirl it worked brilliantly for my art school friends back in the late 80's.

Also what was the F Plan diet? I remember my grandmother doing it - she was always on some diet or other but a total feeder as far as the rest of the family were concerned. Her roast potatoes and fried breakfasts are the stuff of legends.

ArseyTussle · 05/02/2017 11:27

I think speed in general might be a good idea. Being skinny and getting loads done, it's a win win. Grin

Archduke · 05/02/2017 11:29

Ha, yes Arsey, my cupboards would be spotless Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 05/02/2017 12:44

Braved some oven chips as I was so bloody hungry. Took forever to eat and as such I feel stuffed on a small portion... Maybe that's the way forward!

ponygirlcurtis · 05/02/2017 13:03

How are you feeling last, how long will you be on soft food for?

Wasn't the F in F Plan for fibre? I have a vague memory, was it Rosemary Conelly?

hadtomakeanawfuldecision · 05/02/2017 13:11

I used to clean my bathroom after a whole night-and morning- out raving. Then bed by early afternoon on Sunday. Can't remember if I woke for dinner.
Wonder why I was thinner then...
I remember reading the F Plan off a holiday home's bookshelf somewhere. She was all about the undigested sweetcorn.

lastqueenofscotland · 05/02/2017 13:16

Pony apparently I can have solid-ish food as of tomorrow but j think I'm being a bit paranoid.

It doesn't hurt but I can feel it... If that makes sense?!

I am now 0.2 Linda's away from being in the 9st bracket though so it works as a diet!!

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 05/02/2017 13:23

DH brought McDonald's home from the gym, so I had the inside of a burger and a side salad :)

Stellar67 · 05/02/2017 14:15

I remember seeing a programme where people chewed lots and ate less as a result, so maybe you are onto something lastqueen.

I inhale food. I need to be more mindful of eating.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 05/02/2017 15:03

Envy of being nearly in the 9 stone bracket.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/02/2017 15:18

I saw that too, about the chewing. I think it was How to lose weight well. I also bolt my food. I suspect there may be a correlation between food bolters and those who are overweight.

I'm having a good day with food. Off to the gym later. But I feel very restless and...I don't know...dissatisfied today. I don't know why

of being nearly in the 9 stone bracket.

ponygirlcurtis · 05/02/2017 16:11

It's maybe after all the worry you have had recently BOOP, I get that sometimes too. Gym sounds like the best plan for background restlessness.

I think slower eating probably helps your body realise it's had food - I often bolt mine then feel I could eat the whole lot again, because my body hasn't had time to register the food arriving in the stomach.

KikisDeliveryService · 05/02/2017 16:20

Another speedy eater here too. Even though I categorically know it'll take a further 20 mins after finishing to register as full, I will still happily continue to graze rather than wait, if I'm not careful.

boop I agree with pony, it's likely the residual stress. It takes a while to readjust to not having to worry/panic or whatever. It should settle soon but in the meantime gym is an excellent plan.

MorrisZapp · 05/02/2017 17:10

The F Plan was on every bookshelf in the mid eighties. F stands for fibre. Basically, eat loads of it.

Baked potatoes
Wholemeal bread
Chunky soup
All Bran

And of course our friend sweetcorn. It suits me so well because they are basically my favourite foods. Although I'm tempted by the Mod diet too - speed every weekend would have me looking lean in a Fred Perry in no time :)

BeyondUnderthinking · 05/02/2017 17:36

I'm a slow eater. I just spend an inordinate amount of time eating Grin

Just entered my McDonald's calories and I'm still under 1000 cals!!
