Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

I just got sucked into that one too BOOP! It's a very tricky issue indeed.

Spurious I'd go mental weighing every day, the numbers fly around so much for such random reasons...

HairsprayBabe · 03/01/2017 15:17

I don't have the patience to wait that long!
I barely have the patience to wait till the endo of the day sometimes!

I am thinking about buying some ketostix so I can tell when I am really in ketosis. I think it should be in a few days.

DP just told me he isn't feeling mexican peppers so I am going to do an Aubergine and tomato bake instead -

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/10033/aubergine-tomato-and-parmesan-bake-melanzane-alla-

Going to use 2 eggs to up the protein and might stick a pepper in there too. But I think that will bring me well under 800 cals so I don't know whether I should have something else or just kick off the weight loss with a very low calorie day to start...

teaping · 03/01/2017 15:21

I weigh every day (and sometimes multiple times, can't help myself) and for some ketostix from amazon for about a fiver.

Obviously (again, can't help myself!) i checked this morning after only 24 hours and nothing - but that's hardly a surprise!!

Surely after 24 hours on a diet I should be a size 8 by now?!?! If only!

QuimReaper · 03/01/2017 15:37

I used Ketostix earlier this year, they're very addictive! It was funny, I had been very very good for 4 days and on Thursday evening I just suddenly "felt" I was in Ketosis. It was the only time I've ever had 11 golden days in a row, and peeing on the stick every morning really kept me going Confused

I haven't used them in ages because now I only diet for 4 days at a time max.

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 16:05

I have become obsessed with my wrist robot (aka fitbit flex 2) in place of obsessing about food. It does not count my cycle rides as 'active minutes' which is irritating the fuck out of me (nothing to do with lack of chocolate/bread/sugar/booze, I'm sure Grin). I cycle hard and fast and am a sweaty mess when I reach my destination. And yet my pootling around shops gets included as a proper activity. Grr. I've had to install a whole other app to record my cycles just to make me feel better and be awarded triple the calorie burn.

Forgetting to eat: I didn't eat my lunch until 3pm. I didn't forget about it though, not for a second, just got distracted (by pootling round the shops having been let out of work early!). But because of my golden fast day yesterday I was not hungry today and did not crave all of the crap, so far all food consumed has been only nutritious.

Tomorrow I will be HUNGRY. 2 days after a fast is my danger day. I will attempt to ward off the worst of it with the gym or something perhaps. I have to find a new routine as my work days have changed.

Dammit, I'm tired now and I have only done 6000 steps and '18' minutes of activity Hmm. THAT SHOULD BE 53 MINUTES!! DAMN YOU FITBIT.

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 16:06

Dare I read a thread about cake I wonder?

BeyondTheStarryNight · 03/01/2017 16:28

I disposed of our leftover xmas cake earlier via the DSs Grin
One less temptation to worry about...!

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 17:06

Beyond DS is going sugar-free for January as well, we have a pact and he has far better willpower than me. Smile DS2 does not like the xmas cake. I may freeze what's left or leave it out so DH eats it. When it is in a tin it is apparently invisible to everyone else. lucky buggers

PurpleDaisies · 03/01/2017 17:08

boop you probably noticed I got sucked into the other thread too. A total failure of understanding over there.

It is hard to know what to go with the Christmas leftovers. I'm taking as much to a food bank as possible and letting dh hoover up the rest. He's blessed with a super quick metabolism and a 6ft5 frame to hide any extra pounds. Envy

Paulat2112 · 03/01/2017 17:09

quim I'm just VLCD which is 600 cals. I am doing two meal replacements a day and then a soup which takes me to my 600 as I couldn't face 3 meal replacements In one day. I have two weeks worth of food left and then think I will see what real food I can eat. It's good for not having to think about what I'm eating but I'm obviously starving. I'm hoping ketosis kicks in but think my carbs are just a bit high with the real soup.

Lorelei76 · 03/01/2017 17:33

I've seen some really nice stuff in sales listings but I have no idea what shape I'll be - translation, I am SO hoping my chest gets smaller!!!

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 18:03

Kiki you can log activity like cycling or swimming manually you know. Well you can on my Fitbit Alta via the app. I am also obsessed Blush

Day 1. Scales not good. put on 2lbs over New Year 😱
BUT I came in today so that's got to effect it? Pointed everything today and have 5 to spare .... eyes vodka and tonic....🙈
I'm hormonal, hungry and sober - it's not a good combination 😩

wearingbiggirlpants · 03/01/2017 18:33

Well I'm 9 pounds over my target so cross with myself. Need to meal plan and do a food shop and get rid of the Christmas crap still hanging around at home. Think I've got some SW meatballs in the freezer..

Lorelei76 · 03/01/2017 18:42

I just caught up with the "feeder" thread. All I can say is, just as you sing to yourself "band's gonna play play play....haters gonna hate....." now add

"feeders gonna feed feed feed ...I shake it off"

every time someone says they had a "golden" day, I wonder if they live in Oz or something Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 18:49

Hello Chardonnay!

I haven't weighed in yet. I'm too scared

OP posts:
KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 18:49

Here's the thing boop, the flex 2 auto detects cycling (and swimming - it's waterproof!) but doesn't allocate appropriate calorie burn. I can't change details (such as calorie burn) to those auto detected activities unless I delete it and input manually. And that's annoying me! The flex 2 is not much more than a glorified step counter, it's main selling point is the swimming feature. But I'm stuck with it now and will happily be irritated by it and also be enslaved by it!! However, I am dressed in a fuzzy onesie so chances of fulfilling my quota today is nil.

BeyondTheStarryNight · 03/01/2017 19:01

I've had a few chocolates today, but logging my final count as 905cal :)

BeyondTheStarryNight · 03/01/2017 19:02

Fitbit says 1,807 - but it was on charge all morning so not too bothered

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 19:09

Ah I see KiKi. I just bought the BF a Charge 2 and it seems very good

OP posts:
TheLegendOfBeans · 03/01/2017 19:18

Amen Kiki; i hear ya re the frustrations re FitBits.

I have a Jawbone UP2 couldn't continue with the UP3 as its clasp kept massively scratching my baby and it too doesn't record cycles... it also used to not count when I'd be walking with the pram bizarrely, but seems to now.

BOOP its true, you can log activity manually but it's just too much WORK Wink

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 19:36

legend extra work that does not contribute to 'activity' minutes! What's the point Grin

Squiffy01 · 03/01/2017 19:40

For those of you who are doing a VLCD how many calories are you eating? I used to be so good at them about 10 years ago but now I just can't do it!
Today has gone fairy well, I'm about 100 calories over what I wanted but still not too bad. Dinner is cooking and I'm so hungry now it is making me feel sick. All I want to do is stuff my face with the chocolate I have sitting in the bedroom!

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 20:01

I have just got to the gym. First time this year. And it is PACKED! There had better be nobody on my treadmill Angry

OP posts:
QuimReaper · 03/01/2017 20:04

Legend I have seen this complaint on the FitBit boards - if you don't move your hands, i.e. the step counter when walking, so with a shopping trolley or pram, it can't detect it Hmm

Kiki I've just roadtested my Flex 2 in the swimming pool! I was pretty impressed, it clocked 46 lengths when I did 48 (unless I miscounted...) and didn't get in the way or anything.

I know I quite often whinge about swimming but today I so so so did not want to: it was already dark and something stupid like 3 degrees. BUT I DID IT, and walked my 10K steps and am back on track with a fast day! Hurrah!
