Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

Y'know Paula that's how I diet: I do the 5:2 with one or two other"good" days thrown in M-Thurs, then let loose Fri-Sun, then pick it up again the next week. If you don't think of the weekend as "ruining it all" and plug away at it week on week, you do see a cumulative loss. It's not as fast as dieting seven days a week but for me it's sustainable and effective.

Why not give it a go? Make it an actual plan to VLCD five days out of seven?

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/01/2017 17:58

Hello all ! Well I fell off the wagon in DEC quite spectacularly . I weighed today and I have put on half a stone since the end of Nov Blush

I am back on track now and am determined to do at least that in January .

Meal planning done and I just have to convince everyone else to eat all the cheese and biscuits and choc that are left over which shouldn't be too tricky in this house .

Somanyillustrations · 02/01/2017 18:02

I'm in... Weighed in at 10st 10lb today, heaviest non preggo weight ever Sad

Joining slimming world tonight, will try to follow that, planning a dry January, lots of water, no cakes and cutting back on bread.

Holiday in 7 weeks, would like to be under 10st by then, with eventual target of 9st 3lb...

SorrelSoup · 02/01/2017 18:09

Can I please join? At the start of December I was the lowest I'd been for about 6 years. Since my first pregnancy. I've been eating for 3 weeks and have put on 10lbs. I am vvvv shocked. I've started mfp again today and gym starts again tomorrow.

I'm currently 13st 12lbs. Want to be 11st 7lbs by the summer. Big birthday this year too!

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/01/2017 18:13

sorrel I am 13:6 with a similar goal . My hope is because I have put on this half stone quickly then I should lose it quickly (hopeful or naive not sure )

SorrelSoup · 02/01/2017 18:18

Howlongtillbedtime I'm hoping too! On nye I was 13st 8lbs. God knows how I've gone up 4lbs since Saturday morning!! It must all be bloat!

mathanxiety · 02/01/2017 18:24

May I join? My goal is a stone off by mid February. I hope to stop evening snacking, which I fear is my downfall.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 02/01/2017 18:36

Hello everyone! Welcome newbies!

Feeling quite bloated today, it's the combination of AF and post-Christmas weight gain. I'm not going to weigh myself until the weekend so I have a chance to get some golden days in first, but I fear Christmas has done some damage!

Had a fairly good day today food-wise, if stick to a smallish portion for dinner and resist the temptation to snack I should come in at about 1500 calories. I'm also planning a fast day tomorrow, so hopefully that will help.

Exercise-wise I will try and squeeze in a couple of runs this week, and Saturday morning I will go back to body pump.

I've upped my step goal by a thousand today. Kicking myself now as I'm at my old goal but not new goal and I don't want to go out for a walk

Once I get a taste of anything quim I just kind of go crazy. Like it takes me another few weeks to bring myself to get back on it, I've tried 5:2 and 4:3 but just can't go back again after eating. I'm actually going to go to over eaters anonymous on Saturday. I don't know if it's for me but I think I need to get to root of why I am the way I am. :( I am always full of talk when it comes to my weight but never follow through with it but this time it's different. Thank you for your advice. I'm hoping that once I have lost my weight and done whatever I need to do to control myself I could do 6:1 or so as a maintainace thing. :)

BitOutOfPractice · 02/01/2017 18:55

Lots of very determined sounding Slenderistas on this thread. Let's get our game face on and do this

BitOutOfPractice · 02/01/2017 18:57

Paula when I lost weight about ten years ago I kept it off for about 4 years by bring very careful in the week and having what I wanted at weekends. But it was hard to refocus every single Monday.

Hello, is there room for a porky one?

I need to lose 5 stones. Eek. I've been reading up on low carb, 5:2, 16:8 and ye olde calorie counting, and I don't know which is the best path for me. I'm a horrendous snacker and have a sweet tooth.

I'm doing C25K so I'm getting some exercise.

Any ideas?

Squiffy01 · 02/01/2017 21:10

Day 1 went OK for me! In so bloody hungry though! Hasn't snacked at all and resisted the ice cream after dinner!

lastqueenofscotland · 02/01/2017 21:18

May I join? Starting tomorrow so I can weigh myself!

Lorelei76 · 02/01/2017 21:21

Arsey, ye olde calorie counting made me laugh!
In terms of deciding, I think you need to consider your own preferences really. I tried low carb and 5:2 and hated both. Decided to stick with ye olde calorie counting.

Today has been fine, glad I had leftovers for when I got in.

SundaeLieIn · 02/01/2017 21:42

I'm in too. Needed to lose 5 stone and joined SW a few weeks before Christmas. I lost 9lb but have defo put some back on but want to weigh in with SW on Wednesday (rather than my own scales) to see how much I've gained. 7lbs in January is a very realistic target and I know I can do it! Just need to try and find some form of exercise that works for me.

teaping · 02/01/2017 21:44

Hi all,

Do you mind if I join?

I am supposed to be losing weight for my wedding, with 4 months and 1.5 stone to go! I've put on 8lbs over the last 2 weeks so I am on it big time from today!

Archduke · 02/01/2017 22:15

Hello everyone how lovely to see you all - old and newbies - welcome welcome.

I wonder what we can construct with all the fat we will cumulatively lose over the next month? A fat mountain perhaps or a fat Christmas Tree as a memorial to our collective Christmas greediness . . .

Arsey I'm doing C25K too - are you on the C25K beginners thread? It's super friendly and helpful. I also have a sweet tooth and the only answer for me is to go totally cold turkey - have ZERO sweeties/choc/junk and then I seem to loose the taste for it.

It's Jan 3 here (Australia), it's sunny, I'm frog marching the dds and dogs into town to check my Lotto winnings (if I win the $31mil I may leave this thread and just go and get full body lipo. In fact if I win $31mil I'll pay for us all to get a mass discount.) which is about a 10km round trip. I have to bribe them kids with a trip to a cafe for cake but fortunately cake is not my downfall so I'll just have a coffee.

Hooray everyone, this is going to be GREAT, think of all the benefits of losing the chub. By Feb we will be well on the way to being fit, and beeeeyoutiful.

KikisDeliveryService · 02/01/2017 22:18

So many newbies! Hooray! Let's do this!

I've crushed my first day back on this thing - I've run, walked and cycled, I've had a proper, well behaved fast day and I feel good.

QuimReaper · 02/01/2017 22:22

Hello all hello all! I wondered if Jan would be a popular thread, it's normally when the Weight Loss boards light up! Sorrel and HowLong I do always think the fastest gains are the fastest to go, so I'm sure you'll find a few golden determined days will see a quick loss.

Somanyillustrations is your name from Suedehead?!

Not sure what happened to my fast day, but it ended in me mindlessly eating all the leftover pasta bake with extra pesto Confused Not a dreadful day overall thanks to earlier efforts but not a golden day in the least. Man it's hard to find the wagon again when you lose sight of it... at least I stayed off the wine and chocolate. Not looking too porky either since my unexpectedly-restrained NYD eating (although I am still feeling deprived over that!)

Still, tomorrow's another day and all that.

QuimReaper · 02/01/2017 22:23

Bloody great days Archie and Kiki, you can be the thread cheerleaders since I've had the pasta bake mishap!

BusterTheBulldog · 02/01/2017 22:48

Managed a run earlier and also stayed off the wine! Aiming for a run at lunch tomorrow and booked a kettles class for tomorrow night which should force me into then having a light dinner. I work from home a lot and daytime snacking is my downfall- think I may just have to chuck out left over bread and cheese from Christmas though it pains me to do it!

Going to weigh in Friday mornings. I seem to weigh a steady weight for 3 years and then have a crazy year of sabotage! Hoping to get back on track this year-can't afford new clothes!

MrsRonBurgundy · 02/01/2017 22:58

Can I please join?? I weighed myself today for the first time in a year and I was a stone heavier than I expected and so now have 3 stone to lose in total.
I've done a massive big healthy shop and am doing the lean in 15 meal plan and starting personal training on Wednesday. Would LOVE to lose half a stone this month to kick start it!!
