Evening. Golden day today. But god it's boring isn't it?

Hi there

Another newbie here. Am definitely up for 7lb in Jan. Joined the gym in October ...managed to go regularly but after my holiday mid November have not set foot in the place again except to have my nails painted and drink frothy coffee

I got engaged on Christmas Day so now have a big fat incentive to reduce the size of my big fat tummy.

My priority this month is to cut down on the wine so I'm doing a dry January (well 28 days of it anyway!). Am allowing my birthday and a black tie event as exceptions.

I too have a small cheese mountain in the fridge..made some broccoli and Stilton soup with it today..figured it was a slight improvement to eat it as a meal instead of pigging out AFTER a main meal ?!?!

Good luck everyone..

ponygirlcurtis · 03/01/2017 00:04

Ah BOOP that made me laugh.

Congratulations purpleshortcake. I am also trying to cut back on the booze, two days off it so far which is the longest stretch since... well a while. Blush Had an unintentionally golden day too - just too busy to eat much. And back to logging on MFP.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 05:44

Oh pony you're not going to turn into one of those too busy to eat / food doesn't really interest me / food is just girl types are you? Wink

I've had my first dry day for a while. It's a hard habit to break. And it does get to be a habit doesn't it? Especially over Christmas when it seems perfectly acceptable to have a snowball at 10:30am noon.

Of course after one dry day I'm expecting all the benefits to kick in immediately: bright skin, better sleep etc. Seems like that's going to take a while.

Trying to think what to cook me and the dc for dinner....

Hello all, may I join?

11st 11lbs here; I'm 5'6" so that's me officially overweight... I'm as heavy as I was just after I had my baby in Feb!

So I'm getting married in 25 days.... urgent action needed! Just need to rid myself of my wobbly gut.

Starting point; aiming for 10K steps a day.
Not a cake/sweetie/biscuit will pass my lips this month. Also quitting smoking will directly lead to my drinking less too x

TheLegendOfBeans · 03/01/2017 06:41

Ps: 7lbs for me ought to be an ok amount to lose. That will put me back to my lowest post baby weight....where I was in NOVEMBER Confused

lastqueenofscotland · 03/01/2017 07:11

Hopped on scales today - 147 so that's a nice round number for the end of the month to aim for

Noofly · 03/01/2017 07:21

I'd like to join too, if that's OK? I'm currently 11st 12lbs and am 5' 4". I've been sitting around this weight for around 10 years now, ugh. I'd like to get down to 10st by my birthday at the start of May.

I had an emergency gall bladder operation just before Christmas- hospitalised on the 22nd, whipped it out on the 23rd and home on Christmas Eve! When in hospital they weighed me and I was 12st 5lbs so I actually lost 7lbs and I'm hoping that will give me enough incentive to keep going and use this as a bit of a wake up call.

The good news is that I seem to have kicked my caffeine habit while ill (2 giant coffees a day with 4, yes, 4 teaspoons of sugar in each Blush and I'm hoping I've kicked my sugar habit as well (chomping on biscuits all day - work from home, like to snack). I also still have very little appetite just now.

The bad news is that I know my appetite will return to normal levels in the next few weeks, but I want to take advantage of this as long as it lasts and am going to try to not have any sweets/biscuits/crisps etc through the whole of January. I'm only going to weigh myself at the start of each month as I find weekly weighing too stressful. I'd rather see a small monthly loss than ups and downs in weekly weighing.

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 08:08

Ack, what is this early morning going to work business?

So yes I had a golden day yesterday and have packed up my healthy lunch for later and have yet to break my fast, which won't happen until lunch now because bleugh, it's too early.

Scales have rewarded my yesterday's efforts Halo

I have decided not to punish myself on all the excess and just enjoy watching the numbers go down because I know they get stuck quite quickly.

HairsprayBabe · 03/01/2017 08:16

Hello all!
I fell off the last thread and have only just dared to weigh in and hop on this one!

I went +1lb up over all in December so starting on 12.7 for this month!

Come at me January! I have a new rule for now - no cake or booze until my birthday (end of Feb) so let us see how far that gets me!

Menu for today,
Yoghurt and berries for lunch, mexican stuffed peppers and salad for dinner. 450394945 cups of coffee as it is my first day back at work!

Lorelei76 · 03/01/2017 08:29

I feel for all the work returners. It is so sad on a very very deep level.

it's also shit freezing in London.

normally I wouldn't even try to have good days on a return to work on freezing days but it seems a shame to undo the good work of the past week so I will be doing my best.

LiquoriceWheel · 03/01/2017 08:37

Hello everyone, I feel so so low (and not in pounds!). I have already fallen off the wagon in spectacular fashion after making so many grand healthy fitness plans in December Sad. I've decided to start again right this minute (not tomorrow not on a Monday etc, etc) and join this thread because I just can't bear to be in this binge eating and drinking unfit cycle any longer. I'm so Angry at myself. I hope it's OK to post here if I think I'm about to give up and to get back on track?

BeyondTheStarryNight · 03/01/2017 08:40

I'm up 6.8 lbs on my lowest point before my crazy December. So considering I've been eating about 90% carb for the last few days, hopefully a bit of that will just be bloat.

Honestly, to anyone here who has struggled with weight loss before, I would recommend looking at the blood sugar diet. It's really 'pinged' this time for me :)

HairsprayBabe · 03/01/2017 08:52

Same Beyond I am so over carbs, are you on the FB support group for the BSD? I joined months ago but never post on it because some of the posters are so bloody militant and the other half are ridiculously dramatic.

E.g. "I had one mince pie and a small glass of fizz and now I have put on 5lbs been on the loo with cramps all night, feel dizzy, sick and bloated blah blah blah"

I am less bothered about the health aspects of this diet and more interested in being thin. I would love to reach my goal weight for my birthday, Feb 23 I will be 25. We are going for a weekend in Geneva to celebrate and I am going to eat so much cheese. So the less I weigh before I get there the better!!!

Lorelei76 · 03/01/2017 08:55

Licorice, good for you. It is always better to get back on the horse right away rather than decide everything has to go to hell for the day, week, whatever!

Lorelei76 · 03/01/2017 08:57

btw someone mentioned upthread those annoying people who forget to eat - I SO want to be one of those!!!

Pusscat123 · 03/01/2017 08:58

Another porky joining up.

Age 52. 5'7" and 16 st 5lbs. Have lost - and regained - several stones in my life.

Will join SW tonight. X

Oblomov16 · 03/01/2017 09:01

I'm in. Doing 800 low carb, dry'ish jan. 1 stone to lose. First goal 1/2 a stone, to drop me into the next stone barrier, IFYKWIM.

BeyondTheStarryNight · 03/01/2017 09:16

Yep hairspray, I'm in there but I don't post much either.

ArseyTussle · 03/01/2017 09:28

Hello Archduke, how are you finding the running? I completed the programme last summer but then fell off the running wagon due to work hours. I'm now at week 6, doing a C210K, which I stand no chance of completely whilst so enormous!

Going to have a look at the blood sugar diet. My worry with calorie counting is that I get panicky when I see just how little I can actually eat.

LiquoriceWheel · 03/01/2017 09:30

Thanks Lorelei76 I'm really trying to stop that way of thinking Smile I'm feeling a lot more positive reading others tales of weigh loss woe (NOT in a mean way) I have about 2 stone to lose, but I'm mostly concerned with all the flab around my middle- it's inches thick ConfusedShock

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 09:44

So many new faces! Smashing! I hope you find this thread as useful as I do

Liquorice that's where I carry my weight too and I loathe it. I've had two c-sections and I fear my stomach will never be the same again Sad

OP posts:
Paulat2112 · 03/01/2017 09:49

First day down for me yesterday, liquorice you can do this!! I managed ok although may have cried at the stark realisation that I'm going to be eating just 600 calls a day for the foreseeable future lol

teaping · 03/01/2017 09:55

Noofly our current stats, target weight and target date are pretty much identical! good luck!!

Sorry to hear about your op - hope you're recovering ok now.

I am planning to do low carb but have been reading about the blood sugar diet too. 800cals for 8 weeks sounds really tough though, oblomov have you done it before? I might buy the book and do some swotting!
