Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

Aaaaah BOOP the January Gym Rush, every sodding year! I was terrified there'd be loads of people floundering around the swimming pool with New Year's Resolutions etched into their goggle-less held-up faces, but it wasn't too bad this time.

Don't worry, they'll have given up in a week or two Grin

TheLegendOfBeans · 03/01/2017 20:47

I love your name Quim Reaper Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 03/01/2017 21:07

There are so many runners about getting in my way Xmas Angry

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 21:09

My machine was free thank goodness. Just knocked 25 seconds off my PB for 5km. Very pleased with that. One of my new year resolutions is to run 5km under 30 minutes. I'm chipping away.

I've also weighed myself. I'm 2.2 Linda's up on Christmas Eve. I'll take that.

I have had another good day where I have been too busy to eat (I don't mean too busy to eat at all, BOOP, just too busy to do anything but grab a minimal amount!). But have now had a glass of wine. so much for dry January

Anyone else watching How to Lose Weight Well?

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 21:18

Bugger it's 4.4lbs not 2.2. Got my KGs mixed up Sad

BOOP I am already planning on getting to my bodypump class on Saturday super early, last January I was turned away from my usual class because it was full. Luckily it only tends to last a couple of weeks and then it goes back to normal Grin

Well done Quim, polish that halo!

I have also had a decent fast day, but not got a lot of exercise in. Going to drag myself out for a run tomorrow to make up for it.

purpleshortcake · 03/01/2017 22:02

Friday morning weigh-in for me too...am usually a daily weigher but stepped away from the scales this morning. This is day 3 dry for me...feeling quite proud (polishes halo!). Was worried as my trigger is driving back from work (first day back today) looking forward to unwinding with a glass bottle of wine. I found a handful of wine gums in the car which distracted me. Must keep some healthy snacks in the car for future reference!

Hi all

Another beaut day here in the land of marsupials. Off for a run shortly (w7c25k). Had a long fb chat with another school mum last night who is training to do a half marathon. Whilst I'd love to do it I am 48 and . . . er . . . comfortably built, whereas she is a 35 year old nutritionist who is slender as a reed and FIT. Maybe I can aim to do it before I hit 50 .

I am cooking super fluffy pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for the kids. I am having tea and water LIKE A BOSS.

I can't bear to weigh myself at the moment. Feel like I need a few days of good eating to clear the backlog.

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 22:19

quim Good work today! Pleased to hear that the Fitbit works well in the pool, I should test mine out tomorrow or Thursday.

KikisDeliveryService · 03/01/2017 22:28

archduke I learnt to run via c25k a few years ago. I can now run 5 or 6k quite happily, but each time I've done 10k I've thought 'thank fuck I don't have to run that all over again' - which would be about a half marathon distance. Never been tempted (also not willowy, nor in 30s).

I am still delighted I can run at all now having spent the first 37 years of my life as categorically not a runner.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/01/2017 23:10

I've also decided that 5km is my usual distance now. Maybe an occasional 10. I have a big birthday this year and out it this way, it ain't 40 AngrySad

I'm drinking green tea

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 03/01/2017 23:44

Arch that is exactly my plan, have a few good days before I brave the scales!

5km is a good distance, it's what I normally aim for when I go running. I am toying with the idea of signing up for a 10km race in June, I have done a couple in the past and can manage it with enough training. I don't think I could run much more than that though nor would I want to Grin

QuimReaper · 04/01/2017 00:01

Archie and Spurious I'm giving it a few days too, if I have two more golden days I should be on for at least a small loss since my last weigh-in on Dec 16th. I was 400g away from my first target then: I would deeeeearly love for my first weigh in of the year to see me bang on that target.

Archduke · 04/01/2017 06:26

Hello again, it's 5pm here, I'm starving and in a foul mood. I've been bitten by a mozzie and MY WHOLE LEG is now so swollen and sore it's like I have one normal leg and one borrowed from an elephant. I would post a pic but it would put you off your breakfast.

Will drink water and maybe have an early dinner. Dd has a friend here who I swear hasn't stopped talking for the past 8 hours. Long summer holidays here and I'm beginning to regret signing up to Dry January.

TheLegendOfBeans · 04/01/2017 06:39

I must say Archduke I can imagine in Aus that dry January just be extra hard in the respect it's the height of your summer and who doesn't like a cold glass of Sancerre in the garden at the end of a hot day! not helping at all

I've got to get a grip of myself already; the grouchiness of quitting the fags is kicking in and my desire for cake yesterday was STRONG.

Self medicating with yogurts ... DD eats loads so that's my sweet fix. She's only 10mo so they're all organic and no added nasties etc

BitOutOfPractice · 04/01/2017 07:27

Archie ouchy ouch. That sounds horrid. Does antihistamine help with mozzie bites?

Spurious I have done quite a few 10km races but I'm not sure my knees would take it now

OP posts:
BeyondTheStarryNight · 04/01/2017 07:35

I don't think I could do dry January in the Southern Hemisphere, so kudos for signing up to it. Antihistamine should help, my mum had a reaction to a bite like that once.

I haven't got out of bed yet, so can't tell you my weight for today Grin

KikisDeliveryService · 04/01/2017 07:48

Now I'm back on 5:2 properly (stated here to remind self to do another fast day this week), I will only weigh in officially on the morning after my second fast each week.

KikisDeliveryService · 04/01/2017 07:51

Arch OUCH. I can react badly to stings and bites so I feel your pain. It's making me appreciate the English winter actually.

HairsprayBabe · 04/01/2017 08:04

Oh gosh we have all moved on quickly,
I am 1lb down already, not "been" since new years day so I am sure that is slowing things down rather.

12.6 now so the same weight as the very start of December I will take that happily. I still would very much like to be in the 11's as soon as possible though! I have climbing tomorrow and Salsa on Friday so this entire week other than Monday will be golden, I am sure of it!

lastqueenofscotland · 04/01/2017 09:00

That mosquito bite sounds nasty.

Feeling positive today! Got my healthy packed lunch, know what I'm having for dinner with all ingredients already in the cupboard and not in my usual office today so no biscuit tin temptations!
Will go for a run after work too.

BeyondTheStarryNight · 04/01/2017 09:01

2 lbs down :)

Chardonnay73 · 04/01/2017 09:01

2lb off in a day!! Fecking starving though.. slept terribly, probably due to lack of alcohol but feel so much better for it already. I can do this !!!!

Bunnyjo · 04/01/2017 09:06

Hello to everyone, both newbies and oldies!

I am back, after a brief hiatus for the merriment that is Xmas and NY. Just braved it and weighed myself - a depressing 12st 4lb which is 7lb up from my lightest weight in December and 2.5lb up from my starting December weight Sad

First target is to see 11 something on the scales again. Aiming to stick to around 1200 calories, restart walking and c25k, and begin Insanity - I have done Insanity before and found it very effective.

Operation blubber-be-gone has officially recommenced!
