Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

Hubby I am sorry, but Iam going to give you an unrequested lecture. You are better off going cold turkey from all sugar or sweetener for a few weeks as it will break the cycle of insulin spikes and cravings.

I know it sounds horribly difficult but if you push through the first few days you will feel much better for it!

In terms of protein for breakfast you could make a batch of baked egg muffins at the weekend, keep them in the freezer then take one or two out the night before so it's quick and easy.

Most if not all cereals have hidden sugar even musili and weetabix sadly so I would avoid as much as possible. There is no point in cutting out bread rice and spuds and treats if you are going to keep eating cereals that are full of the same readily available carbs. You could try full fat greek yoghurt with some nuts seeds and berries, that would be no less convenient than cereal.

Apologies for being a bossy boots but I promise you will get really good results this way Flowers

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 20/01/2017 14:39

The only cereal I do okay with is a low sugar muesli that has a large quantity of nuts in it. With almond milk :)

teaping · 20/01/2017 14:58

Hairspray I think lots of us have benefited from your 'lecture', thank you!! I'm doing al those things but it's nice for someone to remind me why!

I'm feeling proud of myself today and had a little nsv, which is good after yesterday's bad day. I developed a massive headache throughout the morning and felt really rough by lunchtime. I think it was dehydration and a need for a caffeine hit. Once the headache started to go I was reallly lightheaded and for the first time in the last couple of weeks I felt like I needed a sugar hit. But, I wasn't thaaaaaaaat tempted and whilst the idea of a twix was nice I didn't actually have any desire to buy one and put it in my mouth. So I didn't! Yay!!!! Go me!!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/01/2017 15:33

Well done teap 👍

Hairspray Lecture was very welcome. I couldnt get close to making a muffin but the yogurt with extras sounds good.

Hopefully more exercise next week with fewer cereal carbs and maybe two or three Lindas will go....fingers crossed

Squiffy01 · 20/01/2017 15:51

Just been swimming and rather than getting lots of exercise endorphins I just feel like shit and a bit upset about how bloody unfit I am!

Can't remember who said above about getting to three weeks and giving up. That is my current headspace although I've lost some Linda's I can't see it. I'm bloody unfit and feeling like what's the point of it all. All I want to do is stuff my face Sad

TVHubbyClaire · 20/01/2017 16:18

squiffy keep your chin up, I havent been to gym since December and only played badminton a couple of times. You are already better than me. Fitness will come bit by bit so dont give up.

I am dreading my return to proper exercise (next week I hope) and I know I will be feeling like you but one thing for sure...if we dont do it then we will feel worse instead of better by the spring.....keep going!

ArseyTussle · 20/01/2017 16:56

How much have you lost so far Squiffy? Previously I've started to drift off in about week 3, to fall off the waggon pretty much by week 6. I'm on high alert this time, and determined to keep going, by thinking I'll never be this big and unfit again. Would that mindset help you, do you think? So it's about looking forward in an empowered way, rather than backwards with self loathing?

I thought people who have lost a few pounds may like this picture; it's 5lb of fat.

Squiffy keep going. Just imagine how you'll kick yourself when you find you've put those Lindas back on and some more and have to start all over again.

You're a Slenderista - you can't give up Thanks

hubby, arsey and boop thank you for my pep talk!!! I'm on my way home to my hairy diets sausage and mash, you kept me strong and I didn't buy crap to eat while I was on Oxford street!

The picture is amazing! I never really think of 5lbs as all that much but that's a huge amount when you look at it like that.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/01/2017 19:25

Yay! Very well done Squiffy you didn't buckle! That's absolutely great!

We are going to need a new thread before the end of the month

Pinkvici22 · 20/01/2017 20:00

Wow this thread moves fast!

Feeling rubbish today - stomach cramps and awful headache (time of month), so didn't expect a loss this week, but I've lost 1lb, so that's 8 so far!

hairspray...any chance you could share the egg muffin recipe? I'm eating the same things all the time and although it's working I'd like some variety!

00100001 · 20/01/2017 20:40

whats "linda" about? Confused

Archduke · 20/01/2017 20:45

Binary Lindas are thead slang for a lb, it's from an autocorrect mistake a while ago.

Archduke · 20/01/2017 20:49

Well done squiffy. It's a slow road but it's going in the right direction. Keep going.

Arsey that picture is AMAZING and revolting all at the same time. I might print it out and stick it on the fridge.

Pinkvic EIGHT POUNDS! Incredible! Well done you. Sorry you feel bleurgh but 8lb!!!!

Parkrun for me shortly, I feel barely awake, I'm not at my finest before about 10am. More tea needed.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/01/2017 22:42

This is what I had for breakfast yesterday. Absolutely delicious. Tomatoes with thyme cooked overnight in the slow cooker

Archduke · 21/01/2017 04:45

Those tomatoes look delish. Great idea BOOP

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 21/01/2017 08:38

My god, is that really what 5lbs of fat looks like? Ewwww!

Well done everyone! Arch, yay for your shorts being too big!

Yesterday was a feed day. Ahem. Oops. Never mind - I'm going up a hill with friends this afternoon. That'll burn some of it off.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/01/2017 09:04

I don't quite know what's happened but I seem to be having a massive whoosh. Every time I step on the scales I seem to have lost. So, I've lost all my Christmas gain plus neatly 6lbs more. 11.2 Lindas in total. I'm amazed.

OP posts:
Archduke · 21/01/2017 09:19

Oh my god have you cut a leg off BOOP?!

BitOutOfPractice · 21/01/2017 09:24

I know. I had a whoosh at the beginning of January as you'd expect. Then it just stalled and stalled. Now it's whooshing again. I am so chuffed

OP posts:
BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 21/01/2017 09:30

Wow BOOP! I weighed this morning, I have still stayed the same. But that's okay considering how crap I've been!!

teaping · 21/01/2017 09:37

Morning ladies!

boop that is SO amazing! Well done you, absolutely fantastic! You must be walk NG in air today! Yay!! Flowers

BitOutOfPractice · 21/01/2017 09:56

Thank you. I am very happy. I've not been this light since 2008. I still have about a stone to go until I am what I ultimately want to be but I'm less than 5lbs away from my original target of a healthy BMI
