Happy New Year Slenderistas.

Let's move away from the Christmas bugger and ditch Linda for good.

Yeah but Archie sticking to water is a pretty awesome achievement. Well done.

I've been round to s friends to drop off a birthday card. I was offered wine, I said no. I was offered pizza I said no. I was offered red velvet cake and I said yes. It was a teeny tiny piece and I've logged it so all is not lost.

I had a bit of a binge incident earlier. Ate my lunch (which was quite small) and then in a moment of weakness decided I was still hungry and ate my dinner (again quite small) straight afterwards. I swear I'm not normal! Felt full and guilty and disgusted with myself all day! Haven't eaten since but I feel the damage has been done. Eating a large portion even just for one meal always means I put on weight. Sigh. What an idiot. ConfusedAngry

Archduke · 19/01/2017 22:45

Teaping, if you have only eaten what you would normally eat in a whole day then it shouldn't make much difference surely? What did you actually eat?

ArseyTussle · 20/01/2017 07:37

Don't worry teaping, today is another day. I had an incident yesterday where a Galaxy fell into my mouth.Blush

If the blunders are infrequent And overall you're eating less than you were before, you'll lose weight. That' sounds my theory anyway!

Back on the horse!

ArseyTussle · 20/01/2017 07:38

Sounds?! Twatting phone.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 20/01/2017 08:00

Teaping don't beat yourself up about it, these things happen. I'm with Arsey, I don't think these blunders make much difference if they are only occasional, in the long term you will still lose weight.

Having said that I am still stuck at my pre-Christmas weight. The scales have not moved for two weeks now! I think lack of exercise could be a factor so I have booked a bodypump class for after work later.

HairsprayBabe · 20/01/2017 08:20

Morning all and happy Friday! Man this week has felt looooong!

12.2 this morning -5lbs for the month now, fairly surprised I lost yesterday as AF just rolled into town and I am feeling very very bloated.

Measured my waist last night 30.5 inches! I was pushing 36 inches in the summer. Trying to find different ways to motivate myself when the scales are sticky.

My aunt who has been hard core BSD for her T2 diabetes had her tests from the nurse back and her resting blood sugar has dropped to healthy levels so they have taken her off all her diabetes medication! She actually managed to reverse it!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/01/2017 08:35

teap I think th key to success is not just throwing the towel in afetr one slip, but to get straight back on it. You can do this Thanks

spurious I have body pump envy. I used to love it but it's a no go with the manky shoulder

hairspray well done on 5 Lindas gone for good. And you aunt - just wow - that's fantastic!

Morning everyone else. It's Friday!

Good (ish) Morning

Weighed myself this morning and lighter (good) but only by a single Linda (not fabulous)

Most of my daytime food this week has been cereal and fruit and soup and all for a single Linda....

Hopefully an improved exercise regime will lead to improvements next week

Good luck all....

Chardonnay73 · 20/01/2017 08:54

Only a Linda off this week 😩 I've barely eaten anything due to being ill. Feeling pissed off 😡

HairsprayBabe · 20/01/2017 09:00

Claire Sorry if you have already said this, what diet are you following and what cereal are you eating. The majority are full of sugar and not the best start to the day, no matter what Kellogg's say! You might be better off with eggs or porridge if you are still struggling to lose!

But a pound down is a pound closer to your goal so don't feel too disheartened! Slow losses are demoralising but a gain would have made you feel worse. It could just be your body holding onto water weight as fat cells shrink up - see diagram!

Also BOOP can't believe you caught me dreaming of biccies on that other thread! Grin

Claire and Chardonnay Go now. Right now and get some tins that weigh 1 lb. Hold on to them - keep holding them and run up and down stairs for 5 mins.

Now put the tins down and tell me how heavy they are.

1lb is good.

00100001 · 20/01/2017 09:51

I feel like this week hasn't been a good week :(

Archduke · 20/01/2017 09:52

In fact, it's good to get a bag full of shopping that weighs the same amount as you have lost either since you started this hell regime or this month, whatever. Just FEEL how much you have lost. How much you are no longer lugging around.

It's VERY satisfying.

whowantsadog · 20/01/2017 10:02

Morning all. Grin

Teaping - I've done that kind of thing many a time, but at least you're not then eating another meal later like i would

Someone told me a charming analogy; if you were walking happily along, and then stepped in a pile of crap, you wouldn't lie down and roll in it, you would wipe it off and walk on. Bit grim but ultimately makes sense to me, as that's been one of my consistent downfalls, letting one slip up destroy my whole week.

Hi Hairspray - Brilliant results and I'm definitely taking on what you're saying about measurements, it's not all about the scales (I often let a bad weigh in ruin my morale)

BooP - That's an amazing loss so far, well done!

I'm on day 7 of the BSD; am officially weighing and measuring tomorrow but a sneak peek shows 4lbs off since last Saturday morning. I'm finding 800 calories totally do-able so far and most of the time am not gnawing my arm off. It feels totally sustainable (for another 7 weeks, anyhow!) and I'm confident that I can keep to it. It has to work - I think I have another 30lbs to shift to get back to a healthy BMI which sounds pretty daunting.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/01/2017 10:20

You can do it, whowants!

BOOP, yay for the size 12s!

I love the idea of finding something that weighs 4.5lbs and seeing how heavy it feels. (That's what I've lost.)

Today DH has achieved 7lbs lost. He has been Shredding and lifting weights. I got him to go to Argos and buy me some heavier weights (5kg per hand) and I'm going to do the weights too. Started today and no wonder he's muscling up so fast - it is fecking hard work!

TVHubbyClaire · 20/01/2017 10:28

hairspray - Special K or Muesli. Not following a specific diet, I'm removing bread, potatoes and all nice sweet things Monday - Friday and trying (failing) to do more exercise.
Fat free yougurt, fruit and a cup a soup for lunch instead of sandwiches with chocolate afterwards

archduke - thank you, im just worried I will put same pound (or more) back on this weekend.....have avoided my local and really cut back on wine at home since Christmas which can't go on for ever (Spurs v Man City on BT Sport = early evening pub visit) and family meal out on Sunday. I will need to be extra good for the rest of the weekend.......sigh

PurpleDaisies · 20/01/2017 11:04

Morning! Mumsnet ate my post...I'm sure I already wrote that I'm down 5.2 lindas this month and 1.8 lindas seems very achievable by the DVD of the month. I'm away this weekend and know I'll be eating out though. I can't decide whether to just eat what I want for the first time in ages or stick to the plan.

claire are you hungry all the time on the cereal, cup a soup and fat free yoghurt? I find eating protein based meals like eggs for breakfast keep me full better and I lose more. Depending on what you're eating there can be a lot of sugar in fat free yoghurts too-I went back to regular yoghurt, soft cheese, spread etc and was amazed not to put any weight.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/01/2017 11:44

Hairspray I am everywhere. Watching.

QuimReaper · 20/01/2017 12:09

Wow, well done everyone on yet more amazing losses, and also the amazing will power! Archie you're a hero! BOOP I think you're the Queen this month so far at 8.2? That's such an incredible achievement.

queenie I have cheat days at weekends and diet during the week. It's slower than anything else but it's at least sustainable for me - I do a sort of Extreme 5:2 with two fast days and two mini fast days, it works well for me because I can not have something as long as I tell myself I can have it on Saturday (and frequently don't actually want it when Saturday rolls around and I'm no longer hungry and drooling over fantasy foods). Some people, like Archie, find the opposite, so it's about knowing yourself I think.

Claire just echoing a couple of PPs, I really do think you'd be better off with protein - I swear my entire weight loss has been a product of hard boiled eggs! Just two fills you up for ages, they're miraculously satisfying. I also agree that you'd be better off ditching the Special K, I think you'd find porridge would fill you up for longer.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/01/2017 12:38

I agree quim. Having a protein based breakfast has changed everything for me. Keeps me full. Often means I'm just not hungry till dinner. And I think it releases energy slowly so I don't have a mid morning crash.

OP posts:
ArseyTussle · 20/01/2017 13:06

I've ditched breakfasts completely this week, no eating allowed until noon. I find with a cereal breakfast I'm desperate for something like a scone mid morning, whereas with nothing at all I can just about power through til noon.

TVHubbyClaire · 20/01/2017 13:20

Thanks everyone, cereal is definitely easiest option and it does keep me going until lunchtime. I thought it was a better than toast or a scone/pancake from sandwich van which was my previous habit. Not sure I will get to eggs but will maybe try porridge

Apart from first week I dont feel hungry all the time. I do have chocolate rice cake snack from M&S (121 cals) at some point in the afternoon because I do have a sweet tooth

Hungry when I get home in the evening and must work on smaller portions for evening meals. I think thats where I will get a benefit, I know I shouldnt eat until full in the evening but it is a huge temptation particularly as DW is eating less too, there always seems to be enough for seconds....

ArseyTussle · 20/01/2017 13:34

Yes Hubby, I'm also going for smaller portions. Of all the different prongs of attack that seems the least painful for me, particularly if it's foods I'm a bit 'meh' about like rice and potatoes.

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 20/01/2017 13:45

My 800cal is not going very well as now I have a bloody cold, but I'm still doing...okay. Though I just ate a packet of graze snack thingy for my lunch... 😬
