Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Walking during school hours
Swimming

Gym in future

SoleBizzz · 29/12/2016 15:28

Breakfast

Also rolled oats porridge, two boiled eggs or one toast with scrape of butter.

I can eat them eggs at anytime. It's a lot if food to get through!

DoubleGin · 29/12/2016 15:33

I lovvvvve boiled eggs !
Just got some butternut squash on, I use it to make a lovely pasta sauce, :super low cal !

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 29/12/2016 17:32

I love eggs too! We're cutting down our meat consumption in 2017, so I think they are going to feature highly in my diet, at least (another one here with a whippet-thin DH)

Going to have a think about exercise - I currently walk back and forth to work, which is about 3 miles per day - but I need to do more. I'm shattered once I get home, and have to deal with the DCs, but having to be at work for half 7 in the morning means doing anything in the morning is not really an option. Going to see if there's a gym near work, so I can go on my way home - I don't like classes but willing to give the machines a shot.

DoubleGin · 29/12/2016 17:54

I also need to think about gym but really can't afford it atm ! Muddy country walks for me at the mo hoping I'll be able to run when it dries up a bit, if my super pre loved Phil and teds buggy will allow !
Gone 400 cals over target today, great start 😂 Just stormed through the kitchen and threw all the opened fatty snacks away !

MirabelleTree · 29/12/2016 17:56

I can't eat eggs as they trigger my gallbladder. Think my beloved cottage cheese might be as well depressingly.

Leslie Sansone does a walking at home video - m.youtube.com/watch?v=KCe3ZS7pAC4 for a mile one (15 mins) blog.myfitnesspal.com/fast-easy-5-minute-walking-workout-video/ for a 5 minute one. She is cheesy bad a bit annoying but I find them very useful and my fitness has improved a bit over the last few weeks. I sometimes do the 5 min one whilst waiting for the kettle to boil and the 15 minute one goes well with rice cooking !

A friend nagged me to take measurements before I started. I couldn't really be arsed but finally did and am pleased now I bothered as nice to see inches coming off as well as pounds.

honeysucklejasmine · 29/12/2016 19:16

I agree that taming measurements is a good idea.

I can't exercise, I have a happy variety of medical conditions which stop me from doing it. Maybe when I am thinner that will change.

CupofTeaTime · 29/12/2016 19:26

Me. Wanting to lose about 10 stone. Waiting for blood results to see if my gestational diabetes has turned into normal diabetes. I'm going to be devastated if I have diabetes but it's my own fault if I have. I'm determined to get this weight off. Thinking about trying the 5:2, anyone done this?

Cannothavethenameiwanted · 29/12/2016 22:12

Oooh can I join please. I recently started my infertility journey and have been told that we won't qualify for NHS IVF unless my BMI is under >30 and private IVF if under >35 .... I always used to hover around the 16st mark which at 5'9 and busty didn't looked too bad on me but without realising I have ballooned recently to 21.5st :'(

Aiming to lose 104lbs (and then gain some baby weight!)

Getting a fit bit next week, have downloaded the my fitness pal app and have joined a gym .. Going to try and keep a written diary of my feelings as well to see if I can find any emotional triggers that I can address.

I basically need an entire life overhaul really which is daunting and scary!

WantToRunAgain · 29/12/2016 22:47

Good luck Cannothave - IVF was the reason for my weight loss 11 years ago. My two gorgeous kids are the reason I'm back here Smile

BecauseWeCanCanCan · 29/12/2016 22:51

I'm in. I lost 150 lbs but regained close to 100. I'm so going to nail it this year

JakeBallardswife · 29/12/2016 23:54

Want to lose- 80lbs

WantToRunAgain · 30/12/2016 06:49

Because, wow! That's an incredible loss - how did you do it first time?

WetPaint4 · 30/12/2016 11:13

I need to lose at least 9 stones. I'm on another weight loss thread but I guess there's no harm in being on both. It's good to know there are others with long journeys ahead.

LongLiveTheChief · 30/12/2016 12:09

Hey ladies!

Can I join in with the post? I've just worked out that based on my current weight, I need to lose 103lbs to be a healthy BMI, something I don't think I've ever been in my adult years!

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant though so I appreciate some of this weight gained is due to that. I'm currently at about a 2 stone gain from baby but with Christmas and General pigging out, I think it's going to be a fair bit more before baby makes an appearance Blush

Would it be ok to weigh in with you ladies? I appreciate that sometime at the end of January I'm going to have an impressive weight loss but I'll still have a fair way to go to be healthy xx

DoubleGin · 30/12/2016 14:22

Everyone welcome 😊 There's so many of us now, I'm so glad OP started this thread I really no longer feel alone.

Having some problems with OH at the minute, so it's just spurring me on even more to really do this for myself this time.

Anyway, small scale victory for me today, I didn't eat the food my DS left at lunch 😂 I'm such a greedy pig I always scoff his leftovers !

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 30/12/2016 18:20

I've 150lb to lose, thinking of combining slimming world and 5;2?
Been referred for WLS but funding is scarce in Wales and I really need to do something

MedwayMumoffour · 30/12/2016 18:24

I will join you. No idea how much I really need to loose but I'm aiming for a pound a week at least in 2017.

I'm doing slimming world but I've been to slack this year.

Janey50 · 30/12/2016 18:42

I need to lose about 112 lbs (8 stone). I feel so reassured that I am not the only person who has a very large weight loss to contend with. I am disabled,I have rheumatoid and osteoarthritis in numerous joints,I also have fibromyalgia,so I find many sorts of exercise difficult. Quite a few people have told me that I would qualify for bariatric surgery on the NHS as my BMI is over 40 (it's 42) and I have health problems that are exacerbated by being overweight. But I am scared to go down that route as I have heard a few stories of people having problems after surgery. My hospital consultant told me my knees are 'completely ruined' due to the arthritis so I am looking to have knee joint replacements sometime in the next few years. But I know, realistically, that I won't be considered if I am drastically overweight. So that is my main incentive. That and being able to wear a size 12 - 14 again. (I'm a 22 - 24 at the moment). So count me in!

MirabelleTree · 30/12/2016 18:46

Very grateful to Tali for starting the thread, it is definitely good not to be alone.

I think after 7 weeks it is getting easier to walk the dog up the hill and I no longer feel like I'm going to collapse with exhaustion by teatime, well not everyday.

honeysucklejasmine · 30/12/2016 18:49

Hello All! Nightmare day today, food wise. Breakfast 1 syn, lunch 2.5 syns...

Was at in laws for dinner. Filo pastry, goats cheese, oily roast potatoes ... no alternatives. If you don't do SW, you're supposed to have 15 syns a day... dinner will have been about a million.

Feeling really fed up actually. Scales aren't shifting, and excluding this evening, there is no reason why. Sad

MirabelleTree · 30/12/2016 19:06

Sympathies Honeysuckle, it's very hard eating somewhere else if it isn't compatible with what you're trying to do. I don't get on with SW very well, not sure why but everytime I try it doesn't go well. Is there any thing else you wouldn't mind trying for a bit to compare and see how you feel? I think sometimes though plateaus can hit faster than we expect them too if we have a lot to lose, very frustrating.

Fidom · 30/12/2016 19:28

Hi there, can I join the club?

I have at least 120lbs to lose (not sure what a realistic goal weight is yet). I'm planning to start next week. I'll definitely be using my Fitbit which helped me to lose 2 stone early last year (sadly I've put 3 1/2 back on since) and I was thinking of doing Weight Watchers. There doesn't seem to be any SW round here. I've previously done MFP calorie tracking too which worked well.

Happy to join in Saturday weigh ins.
