Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

I just don't know where to start...

How has everyone been getting on today?

I think what's nice about this thread in particular is that losing quite a lot of weight does presents more issues than if you were looking to lose only a small amount. Not that I'd wish anyone to have to be in my position but it is nice to have support from you ladies. :)

Happy new year ladies.
Today not going so well for me, I feel very sick, wish it was gin related but sadly not ! Not much has passed my lips today might try some dry toast or plain oven chips later 😷

honeysucklejasmine · 01/01/2017 16:24

Hello! Totally agree Tali, there are complications involved in such large numbers. I think I will need to look in to toning exercises etc in the future.

Gin today is going ok for me. I had a big blow out yesterday. But today only had 4 syns (yummy Mikado) and have a syn free dinner planned. Spaghetti bolognaise. Might use some syns for lots of cheese on top Grin

At the ILs again tomorrow. Hopefully there will be something I can eat. Might take my own dessert. Jelly is generally a good option.

honeysucklejasmine · 01/01/2017 16:34

Bit off to come on to a thread to point people elsewhere, isn't it?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/01/2017 16:51

I did raise an eyebrow at that too honey

Today has been a good day for me, and DH is doing a sterling job by polishing off all the crisps in the house Grin. We're doing Dry January too, so that will help as well.

I've realised I can't afford the gym that's close to work, so I'm going to look at some of the online yoga videos - Ariane? or something like that. Bit wary of jumping all in with too many new habits and burning out my enthusiasm Blush - I'm feeling very positive at the moment, so holding on to that feeling for as long as I can.

Fatbird71 · 01/01/2017 17:30

Can I join in too. 100lbs would be a fantastic achievement although it feels impossible at this stage.

I'm 45, very full time job, studying ( can't study without eating ) 2 small kids (stay at home Hubbie thankfully). Have lost 6 stone previously (twice ) but got put on steroids for over a year and now have arthritis so struggle to walk let alone run. So, am looking for inspiration from those of you who will get on with it........

So

TaliDiNozzo · 01/01/2017 18:05

Yeah I did think it was a bit weird that lovelearning did that then I saw that they had started the other thread and it made sense! Anyway I think I'll stick around here because like we've said having large amounts of weight to lose is very different from having a couple of stone etc.

You are most welcome to join us fatbird. Smile

Today has been a good day, I've started keeping a food diary and have reorganised the cupboards and fridge a bit to make it easier to reach for something healthy. Does anyone else stress eat? Whenever I have been feeling crappy or stressed I hide in the kitchen and inhale biscuits or crisps, so I am trying to find a healthier non carby alternative or just something different from damn food!
I saw a youtube channel called curvy yoga suggested on facebook earlier, it's made to be doable for bigger women, so I am going to have a go at some of those videos tonight. I don't know how to do proper links but here's the copy and paste version Confused

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/01/2017 18:29

Oooooh thanks for that yoga link - sounds perfect, and exactly what I'm looking for! Grin

Well done to everyone who has had a good day today Smile

honeysucklejasmine · 01/01/2017 18:34

Sorry Gin, I did also mean to say "feel better soon!" 😂

Have 7 syns left. One glass of wine or 7 matchmakers broken up in to teeny pieces?

Must put baby to bed first. She'll pester as I eat otherwise.

Brighteyes27 · 01/01/2017 18:39

I'd like to do this too. My weight has gone up and up and up. I am 6ft tall so you can camouflage it at first but it's gone way beyond that now I am 20stone two stone heavier than when I was pregnant with the kids!!! Have an underactive thyroid on medication for this and saw a naturopath last year who reckoned I probably also have problems with adrenal grands so advised not to exercise too much.
Have done SW in the past which worked then I get got bored cheated and lost interest. Any ideas for a plan of action for me? Will start when I do another food shop.

honeysucklejasmine · 01/01/2017 19:16

Hi Bright! I ended up a stone heavier than when at full term with my dd, before I started. I am now lighter than when I got pregnant, but want to keep going for her sake. I have an underactive thyroid as well, so I am a slow loser.

I do meal plans. For me, I started with www.twochubbycubs.com as their recipes are all sw versions of things I was craving but not having as I considered them unhealthy. So i chose 7 recipes, and got all the ingredients, a box of shreddies, salad ingredients, fruit (fresh apples, frozen berries) and a protein to go in my salads (smoked mackerel mostly, it's quite low in syns, but cooked chicken etc is all free).

Diemme · 01/01/2017 19:55

Happy new year everyone. Day 1 of my diet today so I'd love to join this thread. I've got around 80lb to lose. Planning on good old fashioned calorie counting. Mfp gives me 1300 to lose 2lb per week. Feeling motivated and so pleased to have found this thread.

MirabelleTree · 01/01/2017 20:07

Happy New Year to you all and welcome to all newcomers.

Challenging day for me with trip to London for DD's 18th. But it has been ok on food front with Wagamama chicken ramen for lunch and a light Pizza Express pizza with a hole in the middle. As both publish their nutritional info I know I am coming I'm within my calorie target .

Walked a fair bit though Fitbit clocked up a few steps from me clapping a lot during the finale !

Limewithorange · 01/01/2017 20:14

I'd like to join you all please, need some motivation from like minded peeps.
I have about 120 lbs to lose to get to ideal weight. Since July 2015 have already lost 100lbs but nothing for the last 6 months and it's very depressing. However new year so new beginnings. My diet won't start until the end of the week but I'm place marking in prep.
I'm doing Rosemary Conley online, 16,000 steps with my Fitbit (if I can find it), considering joining the gym and a friends kickboxing class.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 01/01/2017 20:56

I'm on the other thread but like mentioned I've a large amount to loose so would like to stick around if poss? :)
I'm joining SW tomorrow and so nervous :( eating everything in the house so temptation is gone Blush

honeysucklejasmine · 01/01/2017 22:02

Don't be nervous, Icant, it'll be fine. No-one except you and one other person (who operates the scale) will know your weight, and it'll be nice and friendly.

I decided on 7 syns of matchmakers, btw Wink

honeysucklejasmine · 01/01/2017 22:03

Welcome Lime! 100lb already?! That's amazing

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 01/01/2017 22:48

Thank you honeysuckle each time I've joined I've always been with people I know, I have awful social anxiety but I'm going myself and I'm determined. I'm going to not look at the scales tomorrow then see how much I lose next week at weigh in :)
Next Monday is my birthday so I'll be off plan then make up for it rest of the week apart from birthday drinks the following weekend.
Matchmakers - good choice Grin

eatingtomuch · 01/01/2017 22:54

Hi I would like to join. Need to lose 100llbs to get to a weight I feel comfortable with.
I have previously lost weight with SW and ww but recent attempts have seen me gain.
I'm going to eat sensibly and try and walk more. I plan to make one small change each week that is hopefully sustainable.

eatingtomuch · 01/01/2017 23:14

Fabian I have been the same over the past few years. Trying not to think of this as a diet but a gradual change in eating habits.
I plan to set myself a goal each week, it might only be small like drink a glass of water when I get home from work, but they will be small manageable and sustainable changes.
I have spent last few days de-cluttering the kitchen. I have wrote an itinerary of what foods I have so I can meal plan.
My aim for 2017 is not to give up if I have a day off, because I am not on a diet so I have not broke anything. This is going to be a long haul, so one day at a time.
Need to change the way I view things, but I'm aware this will also take time

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 02/01/2017 10:09

Name: ICant
Age: 24 (25 next week Grin)
Starting weight: 21st 6lbs Blush
Weight lost:
Weight today: 21st 6lbs.

I did it - I went to slimming world. I'm in tears I'm so ashamed of myself, I weight 16st after the birth of ds2 born in May. I've put on 5st since then and been in total denial.

Hope everyone else has a better Monday!

DoubleGin · 02/01/2017 10:16

I can't don't be ashamed you can do this ! I Piled on the weight after my son was born. With slimming world lost 2 st quite fast.

We're all here to support you !!

I'm still poorly ! Managed a bit of Swiss roll this morning, think it's gunna be a day of eating what I fancy rather than what Is good for me. Just going to have a nap whist DS naps 😂

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/01/2017 10:18

ICant - I cried too the first time I faced the scales, but you know what? Well done for doing it - you now know exactly what you're facing. I don't want to ever see that number on the scales again...and I've promised myself I won't Wink

Do some nice things for yourself today - I did a couple of the curvy yoga videos that Where posted up thread. Felt really nice to have a stretch and get rid of some of the tension! (Before I go back to work on Weds and tense up again... Hmm)
