Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

I'm in ... got 175lbs to get off easily. Will be doing SW. Lost 2.5st last year which is a good start but too slow. I need to concentrate.

JellyFishFingers · 29/12/2016 05:32

Don't worry I won't hang around here. Join the 20lb one when I have over double to lose?

JellyFishFingers · 29/12/2016 05:34

And yes it was in active convos. You didn't just point me in a different direction. You said you wouldn't be able to show empathy and that this wasn't the place for me.

ICJump · 29/12/2016 05:42

I thought it was helpful jelly. I've got something like 120 pounds to lose. My mum needs to lose ten. She goes on about how fat she. It's really hard to be sympathetic.

WantToRunAgain · 29/12/2016 05:42

Hi all, I have 100lbs to lose Confused and desperate to do it this year as so sick of being fat now.

DH and I are going to do SW on line together but I may also calorie track on MFP as I do find I can easily overeat on SW.

Good luck all!

DoubleGin · 29/12/2016 07:37

Good luck all !
Wanttorun so nice your husband is joining you, my partner likes to eat bags and bags of sweets and crisps and moaned about having to eat SW meals. Grr !

honeysucklejasmine · 29/12/2016 08:39

Hi everyone. trinity well done on the 2.5 loss, that's amazing! I am also a super slow loser. Barely a pound a week on average. I guess that's still 52lbs a year but nonetheless frustrating!

My husband is a tall, skinny, lanky bastard. However he is super supportive, eats what I give him (and supplements with sweets at work) and wants to avoid the middle age spread that struck his Dad. 😂

WantToRunAgain · 29/12/2016 08:57

He is very supportive - he also needs to lose weight and both of us want to start feeding the DC more healthily.

PositiveAttitude · 29/12/2016 09:28

Hi everyone,

I had about 8 stone to lose and started in June this year. So far I am 3.5 stone down with SW. It has really worked for me.

Civil I didn't tell anyone - not even DH that I had joined. I fessed up after nearly 3 months simply because he was suspicious about where I was going each Tuesday evening. Grin I just did not want anyone questioning what I was eating in a "encouraging" way. Once DH found out he did once comment "Should you be eating that?" and I so went for him and told him that it was precisely for that sort of comment I had not told him and I told him NEVER to comment again on what I was eating. He hasn't, bless him!
I started SW simply because DD, who had been struggling with depression wanted someone to go along with. I never intended to stay and did not feel I was ready to tackle the enormous task of losing so much weight, but when we went something clicked and I am now 100% into it.
I would, however, encourage you to weigh yourself. You don't need to tell another living soul how much the scales say, but it is a good marker to go by and it will encourage you as you see the numbers reduce down. Also take measurements and watch them reduce, too.

Well done everyone for taking that first step and believe in yourself! I have found that smallish targets are best to keep me motivated. I have been thinking back over the years of me growing huge and setting a target that reminds me of something at the time I weighed that weight, IYSWIM. For example: my last target was the weight I was when I was on a theme park ride and the young worker asked me if I was over the maximum weight for the ride. I was actually 2 stone below the maximum, but that stuck with me at the time. My next target is the starting weight i was when I lost about 2 stone and felt good, maybe 16 years ago.

I am nearly half way through this journey and I know that you are all starting, but do you mind if I pop in from time to time as I certainly do understand the feelings and emotions facing you all and I still have an awful long way to go.

It is only over the past couple of weeks that people have actually commented on me losing weight, and only 2 people have done so far! This did really get me down for a while because I still felt as if people just still saw me as "the fat one".

Good morning to you all! It was lovely to wake up this morning and not feel alone in this. My DH is losing weight as well fir the first time in his life as a stressful year plus middle age spread caught up with him. He will be sorted after about a stone having lost half last year.

I have been very selective about who I have told. People mean well but have a tendency of saying things which slightly stress me out.

MrsderPunkt · 29/12/2016 10:30

jelly, why the aggression? I suggested the 20 kg thread, which is about 45lbs, which is a whole lot more appropriate to you than this one. Bloody hell, all I'm doing is trying to find you a group to fit into much better than this one. Stamp your feet as much as you like.

MrsderPunkt · 29/12/2016 10:36

And you're right, I wouldn't be able to show empathy for someone with 50lbs to lose, floating around as part of a bigger group specifically recruiting those with 100lbs+ to lose, some needing to lose 3 times more than you. I'm pleased to see that you won't 'hang around' and hope you've found a more appropriate group. Good luck with the loss.

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 29/12/2016 10:59

Had awesome morning weigh in mainly due to the cup of coffee I had which .... well... had an effect Blush

Today's weight is 3.2lb less than yesterday ( I weigh daily to keep myself on track I know it's not everyone's cup of tea)

Motivated me to have a healthy breakfast and so far no snacking today

TaliDiNozzo · 29/12/2016 11:25

Just for the record jelly, since I started this thread, no one is excluded for their weight, this isn't some kind of exclusive members only thing, but the point is right isn't it? Will you get the right type of support from people looking to lose between 100-150lbs when you have 40lbs to lose? In my experience the psychology of it is different. Besides, no one was rude to you and you were quite rude back. Sorry if you felt excluded but I really don't think that was the case.

Well done Imnot great start to the day Smile Just done a dog walk so have managed 5,200 steps so far, which already is more than yesterday where I hardly moved as was feeling a bit rough.

Been organised about dinner and have sweet and sour red cabbage plus new potatoes in my Instantpot on timer (highly recommend them) and a joint of gammon to chuck in the oven later.

Some great inspiration in your figures there Mumofelise

DoubleGin · 29/12/2016 12:35

Ha I'mnotaceleb well done !!

I'm just enjoying my last eggnog latte of the year, free as I got a email. It's delicious I'm savouring it. Then off to Sainsbury's for a food shop !! Lots of healthy things !

honeysucklejasmine · 29/12/2016 13:12

Ha ha celeb, I have often thought that! I also weigh daily and do notice the difference if my bathroom trip has not been.... fruitful. Starting to feel I should eat prunes every Friday night. Grin

purpleporpoise · 29/12/2016 13:26

Can I join too please. I would really like to lose 100lbs! I did it once years ago on Lighterlife and have no plans to go back to the VLCD route. I joined SW April 2016 and lost a stone. I faff about far too much.
We're also going to TTC no 2 this year but I lost 24lbs in my first pregnancy so I'm not too concerned about that. It also might take a while and any weight lost will help.
I'm going to carry on with SW but drink less alcohol and try to stop snacking

WantToRunAgain · 29/12/2016 15:06

Positive, thank you for sharing - that gives me hope!

Purple - I also did Lighter Life 11 years ago and lost 6 stone in 4 months. I felt utterly amazing but I've never been able to stick to it since (put the weight back on through 2 pregnancies), and the health effects of rapid weight loss scare me now. I want to do it sensibly this time.
