Welcome to the newbies! We have a very supportive group here and are always open to new joiners!

I've hit a new low today, 11 9.5. Delighted! And my Piri Piri chicken was delicious last night, agreed by my super honest 2 year old too.

Back on the horse today Not and don't be hard on yourself. Sure a year ago we all would have hoovered up that on a good day!

Bathsheba3 · 17/11/2016 11:07

I agree - I can well remember when just my nibbling alone would be 1700, on top of my normal calories for the day. But no more nibbling at night Not - don't undo your hard work. Come on here & we'll get you through.

Sugar - hurray on your new low Star and snap! I'm 11 9.5 today too. 0.25 down since yesterday. Piri piri chicken does sound v good. The less I eat, the more flavour / taste I seem to need at the moment, to make it more satisfying.

I was out last night so missed the chat about being obsessive. I think it's more of a control thing for me, if that makes sense? I am all-or-nothing. My emotions can so lead me off kilter and send me into the downward spiral of binge eating / drinking.

Serves me right reading all the posts last-night before I went to sleep - I woke at 3.15 am dreaming about meat being portioned up into plastic freezer bags. You weren't in my dream Not, as I have no idea what you look like, but you are obviously making an impression !! Thankfully I got back to sleep.

Bathsheba3 · 17/11/2016 11:14

oh - and Flowers for Loli. Sorry work is so bad at the moment. Am sure you're not being paid enough for it to be causing you stress, so take a moment every now and again and just stop and breathe, in for 5 out for 7 (or 7 &9). Try and rise above people, and / or portion your work into small bite-size chunks to get through. Your medication won't help work stress, sadly.

You have such a lot on your plate, it is v anxious with a DD who is so down. You sound in control at the moment - keep strong. You have done so well with your weight loss too, on top of it all. Thinking of you.

Not2bObvious · 17/11/2016 12:59

I'm blaming the missing bath, not sure if anyone else is watching but it's gripping & it's probably the only night I'm still up by 9 (party animal that I am) Back on track today but it's funny how a derail can easily escalate into an avalanche!
I'm dreading the gym, I'm fine once I get there but the thoughts of it kill me. It's absolutely miserable here, freezing cold, lashing rain & snow earlier. All I want is to go home and lie on the couch. Have to hang onto the thought that I'll be doing that, just a bit later than hoped. Congrats on another .25, you're 6 days into your goal😉

goat welcome, how much are you hoping to lose?

not I spotted something on the mfp blog yesterday about motivation and I thought of you…. Wink It’s the article with the picture of the donuts which what make me read it….

sugar nice work on the latest losses – you are on a roll here! Star

bath Grin at the portion controlling dreams… Glad the weight's going in the right direction – good news!

Well I switched my mfp onto ‘maintain’ yesterday. It only gives me 1770 cals per day, which I think is frankly a bit mean. Envy If I put my details into the online tdee calculator I found, I get 1859, if I opt for the ‘lightly active’ category. I suspect the later is a better estimate. Anyone have any advice on picking an activity level? I do have a sedentary job, but I walk every day and 10,000 steps is typical. But I also only do a ‘proper’ aerobic exercise session once a week.

Not2bObvious · 17/11/2016 14:02

I read it too sugar (have to say I haven't ordered a takeaway pizza though...but now I'm tempted😉) Very interesting and I like the idea of a fall back plan. Maintenance cals do sound low but maybe it's erring on the side of caution? You probably won't eat close to 1900 on a day to day after watching what you eat for so long.

goatkid · 17/11/2016 14:37

Thanks for the warm welcome. Hoping to lose 1.5 stone. Getting back down to 9 and a half is the plan!

Is anyone else noticing other benefits aswell as the weight loss? After struggling with it for months, my skin is looking better than ever. It's even been commented on Grin Nice to have an extra incentive to keep on the right track. Although after the day I'm having, I'd happily buy a bottle of wine on the way home and drink the lot (I wont! Thoughts of the clear glowy skin and empty cals will keep me right!)

TheQueenOfItAll · 17/11/2016 14:50

hi goat welcome to the thread

I am doing slightly better since Tuesday, but not perfect.

I wrote a post here yesterday, but I assume it got sucked into an Internet vacuum, because it's nowhere to be found Confused

I've ordered myself a noice new smart-scale and fitness tracker watch - a late birthday present.

Also debating joining a sports team - with work and evening classes eating all of my time, I think I need something to do that I do for my own enjoyment if you see what I mean?

sesame well done for reaching your goal weight! those calories seem mean but I'm sure your body will quickly get used to it!

Bathsheba3 · 17/11/2016 16:13

Good call goat. No wine in means its not there to drink. Will a bath with nice oil be the treat you need today?

Agreed - that does sound a v mean allowance sesame. I would stick to the lower, aim for that, and then not stress if you come in a bit higher. Or stick to the lower during the week & you'll know there's more leeway to play with at the weekend!

I would normally enjoy viewing e.g. The Missing Not but without wine, my nerves really can't hack anything tense. Mind you I howled like a baby in Planet Earth last weekend with the plight of the penguins and the iguanas. Family laughed at me. I'd put it on a par with a horror movie. Couldn't face it this sunday. TG for I'm a celeb and say yes to the dress.

Bathsheba3 · 17/11/2016 16:15

Sports team sounds fun queen. You can all but give these things a go! Might meet a nice bunch of people too. I'm reluctant to invest in new scales in case mine have been consistently saying I'm 1/2 stone under what I really am. They can't still be right after 10 (15?) + years can they?

Not2bObvious · 17/11/2016 16:49

Hmm, I don't know if I'd risk a scales change - I did and my new one makes me 1lb heavier than my old one consistently & subsequent weigh in's on other scales agree with the new one and dumped the old one sobs
Well, I made it to the gym by the skin of my teeth. Brutal. That is all, stick a fork in me, I am done

OP posts:
Lolimax · 17/11/2016 16:59

Not well done on making the gym.
Bath I can't watch any nature programme I'm such a baby! And thanks for your support.
The Queen which fitness tracker have you ordered? I fancy the Flex2.
Goat now you've mentioned it my skin has been better.
Sesame I'm interested in how you're managing on your maintenance calories can you keep us informed?
Well I'm having a hungry day, not good. Off to spin later but all I want to bloody do is eat!! I blame the weather. I haven't really missed anything food wise since April but now I'm longing for carbs. How on earth am I going to get through Christmas??

SesameSparkle · 17/11/2016 17:00

not given how lax I’ve been during the past couple of months, 1900 a day would actually be scarily too easy for me.

goat that sounds totally achievable. Although I’m eating proper healthy now I unfortunately don’t get nice glowy skin to go with it. I do feel a lot more comfortable in my own body though and can move a lot easier now.

queen not sure if I welcomed you too – welcome! What kind of sports are you thinking of doing?

bath I agree that sticking to a lower number during the week would be the most sensible approach so I can save some extra calories for the weekend. I wouldn’t get new scales either. I always weigh more on the set at my parents’ house which are obviously completely wrong

Not2bObvious · 17/11/2016 17:45

Oops sorry sesame, mixing you up with sugar! You can't have been too lax though or you wouldn't be in the maintenance zone👏
I'm lying on the couch trying to recover enough to griddle my chicken, everyone else is having yummy carby delicious'ness for dinner. Humf

OP posts:
TheQueenOfItAll · 17/11/2016 17:48

Loli and Sesame I'm thinking of getting a Mi Band 2. It's a cheapy Chinese brand but has a solid reputation and reviews (and pretty cheap!). If I like the feel and use of it maybe for my next birthday I'll get a more detailed version like a Fit Bit or Polar.

I'm also thinking of doing rugby! It's a huge change from my old days of cheerleading😄

My local club gives you three trail days before they make you force you to buy season pass. The only downside is that it seems pretty intense - training 3 days a week and a match every Saturday Shock

Lolimax · 17/11/2016 17:55

Queen I swim so wanted a waterproof one. I used to play rugby long time ago. It's fab.
Not please cook my tea? I'm still lying on the sofa where I've been since stropping home from work. Better shift this arse for spin.
And I'm still hungry.

goatkid · 17/11/2016 20:43

bath I'm not really a bath person. I've had a horse riding lesson tonight though so destressed and burnt some cals. Winning!

sesame thanks I think it should be, I just wish I could fast forward but I have a hol to Bali next Spring so I need to be bikini ready GrinCongrats on reaching target!

queen that sounds intense. Big commitment aswell. I bet it'd be great fun though.

Hungry this evening. I've only managed to have 965 cals today so with the riding, I've got 514 remaining. I'll nowhere need all that, just trying to decide what to nibble on.

Needastrongone · 17/11/2016 21:23

Evening.

We have a pony goat, you can hop on the crazy sod any time you like Grin.

I've just got a Garmin 235, which is more expensive but waterproof and does links in brilliantly with MFP. Very new to me, and bought with Ebay and TBC earnings, so I love it.

Loli Yesterday was my hungry day, I get one a week I reckon. They are awful aren't they?

Boxercise was hard but done, calories in the bank.

The Jamie Oliver Mulligatawny soup was amazing. There's nearly half left and we all ate it, it was so filling and I had no bread. God knows what calories I actually had, a portion was supposed to be 570 ish. I'll just log that and move on.

I'm 350 calories under, but again due to exercise.

Sugarandsalt · 17/11/2016 23:15

I've missed loads! Went for toast again (bread addiction needs curbing !) so kitchen closed on 1509 and 19890 steps.

SesameSparkle · 18/11/2016 00:30

Kitchen closed on 1713, so 57 under. Not had an 'under' day for bloody ages, but I've been working late so just had cheese on toast for dinner - 339 with low fat cheese.

Not2bObvious · 18/11/2016 06:23

Kitchen closed yesterday at 1170, and that included a bit of chocolate after dinner as I really was stupidly hungry. Totm has hit so I'll need to be uber careful, I have form for losing the plot (box of chocs anyone?) Had a good 8 hours sleep which helps, nothing like tiredness to derail me. I've had no bread for 3 days, my gym guy swore I'd really notice a difference in a couple of weeks so I'm hopeful. sugar & sesame you're making me drool with the toast talk 😁Need I've such a vision in my head of you as a lithe whippet! Your energy is incredible.
Getting my hair done this morning which is nice, saves me trying to put manners on it before going out tonight. Anyone have anything nice planned for the weekend?

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 18/11/2016 08:31

Hungry morning, so just wolfed down full carb-breckie, unusual for me. 1/2 muesli, 1/2 all bran. Enjoy your sit down at hairdressers not. Busy w'end with us, plus cooking sunday lunch for 10. Beef rib roast, yorkshires, the lot. Won't bode well I'm sure. But if I keep off the wine tonight & tomorrow night too, plus associated nibbling, then that's a start. daren't even mention the scales said 11 8.5 today as I'm sure I'mm go back up to 11 10 by monday morning

goatkid · 18/11/2016 08:35

Weighed in at 10.13 this morning. Such a good feeling being back in the 10s!

bath that roast sounds amazing Envy

Needastrongone · 18/11/2016 08:53

Hooray for the weight loss Goat.

Roast beef and all the trimmings, yum! Can you avoid the Yorkshires Bath? Fill up on the veggies?

I agree Not, tiredness is just the worst. I'm not good at being tired, I get very snappy. I think I wouldn't do well without some bread, but others seem to manage fine. I think I need carbs, and am not convinced these really low carb diets (not yours) work.

I am not a whippet, more of a lab in training Grin. Funny, 5 years of no exercise and extra weight, I'm burning far more calories now than I have in these 5 years and have so much extra energy for it. Not liking what I saw in the mirror but blaming the clothes and the lighting etc only made me sit on the metaphorical sofa more. I feel like I've acknowledged it's my own doing and taken control.

7.11 today, so I do think that's another 1lb. Or getting towards one, I'll waver for a few days around this mark.

JO porridge for brekkie.
Salad for lunch.
JO chicken with baby toms and asparagus for tea.

And wine.

Just a long dog walk today though for exercise.

Not2bObvious · 18/11/2016 08:54

I think I want a go on your scales bath, what's that's 2.5lb in 3 days? Flipping heck missus, you're fading away😉 I hope the positive weigh in keeps you on track.
You must be delighted to be under 11 goat, what a nice start to the weekend. I'm a bit bunged up so no weigh in today, I would like to leave it to official weigh in next week - I need to learn to stay on track regardless, 3 weeks to my Christmas party. I was actually the same weight now (last checked 11.9) as I was at last years party.
Just had bacon & egg for brekkie, soup for lunch and then God knows what for dinner, can't find a menu for the place I'm going later - I hate that, love a bit of menu browsing
