Morning everyone! I made is into the new thread! I also made it to the 9s yesterday for the first time in my life! Grin Sorry I haven't kept up with everyone, it's been a crazy week at work. Well done on the losses and welcome newbys! Smile

Sugarandsalt · 29/09/2016 08:38

Thanks Not and Hope. I'm delighted I did it actually, got my presentation done but will need toothpicks to keep me awake during presentation I think! Hope 3lbs down in a month at your weight is fantastic. It's 2% of your body weight which is very impressive when you think about it! Spud I think we all agree here that MFP is VERY generous with the exercise calories. If I'm hungry at the end of day and have lots I'll use at most 30-50% max but I try to not use them most days.

I'm on my phone so can't go through all the replies. Overtired I do need to reply to you, it does sound like you are coping brilliantly with a really tough situation. Hopefully getting closer to a diagnosis will be the first step in getting any support that you need, and will help you all with making plans for the future. You absolutely need to look after yourself but don't beat yourself up if it's harder to meet your goals.

Welcome to the newbies, this thread is fantastic support. April we will all be looking for tips from you I think! Cinder we all have bad days/weeks. It's picking ourselves back up and getting going again that matters.

I hopped on scales this morning (skipped it yesterday) and was pleasantly surprised to see 11st13.5lbs! Normally I'd do a bit of hotstepping but today I left it at that! Going away for weekend again tomorrow so hopefully I control myself better than last time. I'd love to see 11st 7 by years end (my targets are getting ever more modest as the weight loss slows!). Bath hope you'll be joining me in the 11 soon! It feels monumentally less than 12 (probably because I've been in the 12s for MONTHS!).

Apologies to everyone I've missed!

StewardsEnquiry · 29/09/2016 09:44

I've been reading all our previous threads and watching myself 'lose' the weight over last year. Then I got to target and pretty much disappeared from the threads! No wonder I gained loads back!

I did used to eat back some of my exercise calories if I felt I needed them because I still lost weight. And it encouraged me to do some walking. I am very sedentary so anything to get me moving (even the prospect of more food!) was a good thing.

coragreta · 29/09/2016 09:54

Welcome newbies. And well done everyone.
I agree with mfp over estimating exercise calories but it's important to eat after you exercise to regain strength so I now plan a post exercise snack into my calories or, like tonight, time it so j can eat tea straight after.
Still down my 2.5lbs so hit my first reward (pre baby weight) plus I'm only 2lbs away from my next reward. That may seem close together but next one is weigh less than my husband. I think I'm going to get a new bra for my next reward. One that isn't for feeding as they are all that fit now.
I did official weigh in today as I'm expecting a gain tomorrow after birthday takeaway and birthday cookies. (Husbands not mine). Hoping to be good over the weekend and not show a gain on Monday.
I do two weekly weigh ins Monday and Friday but usually end up hot stepping everyday. Not good when you see a gain after a good day.

Sugarandsalt · 29/09/2016 11:10

Stew you are back on it now and that's all that matters. Lessons learned and all that! I think using some exercise calories is fine, but the trap that's very easy to fall into is using them all daily, when they definitely seem to overestimate.

Well done Cora. Pre-baby weight for me is 10st 6. But I conceived just after my honeymoon, where I just ate and drank constantly. My wedding weight was 9st12. I was a 8-10 on top and a 10-12 on bottom. I'd love to get bank to that!

Presentation over, went well thankfully.

imwithspud · 29/09/2016 11:33

I've been making a big batch of veg soup each week which has helped me I think. I have it around mid morning with a couple of slices of bread and butter and that usually tides me over till dinner whilst allowing me to have the occasional treat too. I have been eating back some of the calories I've apparently burnt but I'll keep a much closer eye on it now!

Dp used to weigh daily and drove me mad because he'd moan every time the scales fluctuated up and I'd be constantly telling him that you don't just gain weight in a day/right after a meal. I try to stick to weekly but am guilty of stepping on the scales a few times in between myselfBlushcouldn't do monthly, that's just far to long for me.

Bathsheba3 · 29/09/2016 12:08

Sugar - 11's - HURRAY !!!!! And Sesame - 9's - WELL DONE StarStarStar to you both. Amazing, and so well deserved.

I had hoped to join you in team 11 tomorrow Sugar but like Not I had a gain of 0.75 from nowhere this morning, so back up to 12 st 1. I've been out for a 5k run, am cutting back like anything today and hoping I do a jolly big poo later on so maybe tomorrow. I was 9st 12 wedding day too, also conceived on honeymoon & put on 4st. I will be happy at 10 10ish. Mind you, I'll be happy at 11 10 at the moment.

Welcome to all the lovely new positive mfp'rs. Special wave to the oldies Emz & Stewards too!

Bathsheba3 · 29/09/2016 12:10

Still thinking of you too overtired. sugar has a nice way with words Smile

Not2bObvious · 29/09/2016 13:40

Fantastic sugar & sesame - I'd love if your good luck spread to get me to 10.13.8 tomorrow but I think I'm being a tad unrealistic as I need to lose 2.6 to get there. I am so so sore now, think it's time for a dose of nurofen in advance of my class. I worked out I fasted for 16 hours from last nights dinner to breakfast so that's got to be good for the system. Just finished lunch and trying to get my head in the zone for bc. After today 2 to go, wish me luck! I have company for dinner but it mfp'ed it all and getting quite good at closing the kitchen after evening meal so let's hope it helps for the last weigh in of September tomorrow.

Not2be I feel like a good 14 hour fast every day is really good for me - I am always more energised and more able to manage my food intake after it, weirdly. The tricky bit is remembering to stick to clear fluids and not have the odd nibble after dinner. I've slipped recently and you've reminded me to get back on that.

Sugar well done on presentation and getting into the 11s!

Sesame the 9s! I am very impressed and very Envy. I am almost 3lb away and it seems unreachable at the moment! I haven't been in the 9s since May 2012.

Re exercise calories, I usually do eat mine, but my loss is definitely slower than it would otherwise be! 8lb in 5 months. Hmm. Also, I only log walks that are purposeful 'exercise' walks, not just ones in my day to day life.

Horrified at lack of steps, having checked the pedometer that it turns out I already have on my phone. I hardly ever get over 10,000 steps! I don't always always take my phone out with me, but usually do.

Have MIL staying. Calories not going well. Send chocolate.

Not2bObvious · 29/09/2016 17:38

I'm alive...just. Another tough one. Wtaf is the point of burpees? Seriously? I cannot do them properly and I can't even describe how badly I do them. Running another bath to try sooth my aching legs and arse
Having a g&t without the g😉

OP posts:
coragreta · 29/09/2016 17:40

Burpees are the worst.
Just discovered turkey bacon. 23 calories a slice and so yum.
Cookies are cooking but hopefully I can stick to just one!

Scribblegirl · 29/09/2016 19:08

Ooh gosh hopefully, staying strong while hosting the MIL? Bravo!

I also loathe burpees not (although autocorrect tried to change burpees to 'burgers' - like I'd be on this thread if I loathed burgers?!) I really need to pick up more exercise tbh, we're moving in 2 weeks though and I cannot imagine where I'll find the time until we do! Usual excuse I suppose...

Good day here so far and a nice dinner planned but DP is out and there's an open bottle of wine in the fridge. It is eyeing me suspiciously...

Bathsheba3 · 29/09/2016 19:56

Don't mention wine scribble. I've abstained for the whole of Sept. There's a bottle open on the side here too... I'm not allowed any til the weekend, although I may try & do dry october too, with the exception of this weekend of course.

I'm at 1199 cals for the day. B - Fruit & yog, L - Glorious skinny thai carrot soup (whole carton !!!!! - but still only 280 calls) & ryvita thins (too many), D - mini portion of homemade slag bol. Tea / coffee snacks. Plus yesterday's cheese that I forgot to log.

Congrats on another bc Not. Burpees too - v impressive.

Not2bObvious · 29/09/2016 20:08

Ahh slag Bol, I think that was my misspell a few threads ago. I would say I attempted burpees but it was horrific to look at, too old for this madness!

Sugarandsalt · 29/09/2016 20:38

Sesame I missed seeing that you got into 9s. Well done!

Hope with the steps I do a lot on work days but a lot less on days off. Today for example I walked to nursery with DD, then got on tube, changed tube, walked 600m to give presentation. Then back to tube, to my office. Had to walk from my office to hospital nearby twice. Then back to tube, and from there to nursery and home. Easily 15000. But on a day at home I hit 5-7000. Clothes shopping really gets the steps up- maybe it's time to go looking for a new reward?!

Cora I love turkey rashers. DD does too. She asks for them now. Not I hate burpees too. I'm so terribly co-ordinated that I always think I'll end up flat on my face. Started level 2 of 30day shred. I don't like planking.

Scribble a nice glass of wine sounds amazing. I'm out for dinner the next 2 nights though (gulp) so am holding off! Bath sounds like a good day.

I've just put DD to bed (after words with nursery earlier!) and she's fast asleep thank goodness. Trying to build up enthusiasm for 30 day shred. DH won't be back until very late so I then plan to have a 3 egg omlette with kale pesto, feta, rashers and spinach. Followed by an apple. That will bring me to 1000on the button as I missed breakfast but had usual lunch.

Overtiredbackagain · 29/09/2016 20:54

Chair arrived, after lots of tears (mine) DD loves it!

House has been blitzed and I have enough calories left for a much needed glass (1) of wine xx

Sugarandsalt · 29/09/2016 20:57

What a beautiful child! She looks so happy and comfortable in her chair; hopefully it will make your life easier too

Hopefully · 29/09/2016 20:59

Big deep breath moment over I bet. But she is so adorable and clearly loves it and it will make life better for you all.

Kitchen closed and I am over calories (that is not even news any more. I have NEVER been under), but only by a couple of hundred. Painting my hideous old bathroom tiles tomorrow, that should burn at least, oooh, 50 calories!

roarfeckingroar · 29/09/2016 21:14

Can I join please? I want to lose around 12lb.

I exercise quite a lot already & have a Fitbit with an average of about 14,000 steps per day, I eat healthily all day but I just seem to keep snacking at night. I weigh 9 stone 2 I think and am a very small boned 5"3; right now I'm a bit too squishy for my liking on my hips.

I'm wary of MFP as recording seems like such an arse but if it'll help I'm willing to try.

I've already given up drinking Sunday - Thursday inclusive which is huge as I work in a sociable, central London company.

Anyway, hello! Congrats for your impressive weight loss so far everyone!

Not2bObvious · 29/09/2016 21:39

Aww over what a lovely little girl! Chair looks cool and she looks very happy in it.
I used to like turkey rashers then I realised they are woeful if over cooked - which I did wayyy too many times, I could only get them in certain shops (in Ireland and that's even in Dublin) and then they were more more expensive than bacon. Phew that was a bit of a rant😁
I'm over for the first time 1450 cals, and first time having a packet of crisps🙄 Just need to stop now!!!

OP posts:
Lolimax · 29/09/2016 22:02

Evening all! Over she's adorable. How much difference will the chair make to your lives? Been a good day today, in under 1100. And I've been to Spin which although was hard wasn't vomit-inducing or painful. Hello to anyone new who I've missed.

Dontyouopenthattrapdoor · 29/09/2016 22:04

1286 today; my goal is 1350. I'm hungry and debating some popcorn. Oh the excitement. Grin

I've never tried turkey rashers, that can be my exciting purchase for the weekend :)

WHEN WILL I BE SKINNY???

Dontyouopenthattrapdoor · 29/09/2016 22:05

Ps Loli I thought you said you'd been to Spain today!

Lolimax · 29/09/2016 22:16

Don't I wish I had been to Spain, a lot nicer than sweating it out with a sore bum at the local leisure centre!
