The gym scales say 17 6 today 🙁 I can't see how I've put on 2.5 in the last week so ive come to the conclusion my home scales are rubbish and must have given me a false reading last week. So frustrating, eating better and exercising and getting no where. Need to stay on track today

Not2bObvious · 26/09/2016 12:37

That really sucks made😩 Put it behind you & focus on the week ahead. Are you having any nsv's (non scale victories in case you haven't heard it before) clothes looser, rings loose etc? Weekends always show a gain for me so Friday is my official weigh in day which is what that article I attached suggested.
keep I think by the nature of high carb food it can bloat you & make you feel meh. I don't want to do strict low carb anymore as I felt it too restrictive and that just made me cheat. Instead I'm going for a more moderate approach. Whatever you chose you need to stick to it for a couple of weeks to see how it fits with your life, I don't think you can go wrong 1200-1400 Monday to Thursday, then a bit more leeway at weekends but not my c. 3000 cals a day, that's for sure. I hope you feel better and don't be too hard on yourself💐

Sugarandsalt · 26/09/2016 12:55

Keep I try a middle of the road approach with carbs- I don't build my meal around carbs and try to go for the lower GI version where possible. I've just had some brown rice sushi with miso soup for lunch for example; and tonight I'll have shepherds pie with a thin layer of sweet potato, but there's carrots, parsnip, lentils and swede in the mince mixture- all of which add to the carb count but lower the calorie count! Before I loved pasta or rice based dishes. I love eggs for breakfast, and I am learning to love Greek yoghurt actually, having not liked it before.

Made I echo everything Not said, and try to stick to one scales. I hop on mine all the time but (almost) never on any others as some weigh a little more or less and it's confusing.

Unusually for me I don't have a meal plan for the week ahead as DH is away Wednesday and Thursday, and I'm going away on Friday so wasn't bothered to do a big shop. Have leftovers tonight, then fish from freezer tomorrow I think. Will make an omelette or a miscellaneous stew for myself the other 2 days I think.

madein1995 · 26/09/2016 13:00

Thanks not my pyjamas are feeling a bit looser and my work trousers which were getting a bit tight are now a bit looser so I can wear them comfortably to placements, interviews etc. Just occured to me that this weekend has been a whirlwhind of wine and chocolate and that couldn't have helped. I do tend to let myself go a bit on the weekend so perhaps moving weigh in to a friday would be a good idea. I'm going to go for a maintain this week I think - friday we're going out for a meal for dad's 65th and Saturday is the night out, so I'm going to try and stay under 1200 the rest of the week to allow for those nights.

StewardsEnquiry · 26/09/2016 13:01

11st8 exactly this morning - I am okay with that tbh as I have been binging and binging for weeks. I don't even know what triggered it. But it did get to the point that it was making me feel bloated and really tired, which was a new sensation.

But I'm still feeling focused today so hopefully will have some more drops this week.

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 26/09/2016 13:31

That sounds like a good plan made and if you weigh in Friday before you go out I'm sure you'll see results with 4 days @1200 cals under your (looser!) belt. I'm only weigh in after morning pee in the buff, but I'm not sure how practical that would be in the gym😉
All going to plan so far today, but visiting my bro after collecting kids - that might necessitate a biscuit with my tea, have the cals so should be fine

SesameSparkle · 26/09/2016 13:47

sugarand yes I’ve found ‘hour-glass’ generally does look better dressed up, e.g. with belts and pencil skirts. For casual, my skinnies are high rise which makes a big difference and I think the kinds of dresses with a bit of elastic in the middle like this are meant to be good but as a former apple I’m too nervous to try them.

keep really hope that the low carb approach works for you. I think Greek yoghurt is lovely, especially with a handful of low carb berries and possibly seeds on the top.

made sorry about the weigh in – sounds like it might just be the difference in the scales, maybe best to stick to one and you will hopefully be back on track very soon. And moving the weigh in to Friday sounds sensible too.

stew stay on track and hopefully you’ll see some more lbs drop off.

not enjoy your tea and biccy!

Nothing much happening here. I didn’t weigh in this morning. Back to work. There’s more home baking in the office today, but I’ve managed to avoid it. However my colleague bought mini choc bars back from her hols, so I’ve snaffled one two really for later. They are mini after all, and there’s a weight written on the wrapping so at least I can log in the correct value to mfp.

Fitterbysixty · 26/09/2016 15:35

Thank you all for suggesting that I should be in a size smaller than I am wearing. I've had a measure and now I'm more of an 18/20 top than a 20/22 due to my ever decreasing bust. I've lost another inch off my hips but according to the M&S website I am still a size 22. I went hunting in my wardrobe (in the dusty section) for a pair of trousers to confirm this - I found a pair of 22s that fit me nicely and a pair of stretch jeans in a 20. I can zip them up but I wouldn't fancy sitting down in them. I am now a lot more confident that the 20/22 stretch leggings I ordered will fit and while I'm in there picking them up I will look at smaller tops because you were right about that.

I had a look at sizes.darkgreener.com - it might be helpful for anyone else who is unsure of their sizing.

coragreta · 26/09/2016 16:57

Made. I really like the idea of thinking of something really boring to check if you're hungry. Just used it as I am hungry but know tea is soon so will wait.
Doing really well today. On track for 1073 including two cheeky cubes of chocolate.
Need a new battery for my scales. Hope they survive till Friday.

Not2bObvious · 26/09/2016 18:04

Someone once said to me if your children say they are hungry ask if they'd like a banana, if they're not hungry for that, they're not hungry - similar to what you suggested made and a good sanity check. Didn't have a biscuit but a bit of brown bread, cheese & low fat butter (only type my bro uses) Oh and a piece of fruit. Just under 1100, if I can leave it at that I'll be delighted!

StewardsEnquiry · 26/09/2016 18:13

I had a really big urge for ice cream earlier but it passed before I got home. We used to talk about urge surfing on this thread but I had sort of forgotten about it... it is so weird how one minute I am intent on losing weight and thinking about doing a soup day then the next I just want to stuff my face with sweet crap and I don't care about my weight.

Sugarandsalt · 26/09/2016 18:26

Not your day sounds like it went very well. Sesame I find those dresses tend to be crew neck and sleepless which does nothing at all for me. I generally end up in fit and flare dresses. Fitter when losing weight if buying clothes with stretch I recommend buying on the tight side- they loosen quickly as they stretch and relax, so you get longer out of them. Stew I get overwhelming urges to eat chocolate/bread. It gets worse if I've binged or eaten sugary stuff recently though. Cora good day for you too.

My topshop size 14 skinnies are literally falling down so maybe despite the scales being mean the 30 day shred is doing something! There's a banana republic opened near my office, does anyone know what the sizing is like? May take a look tomorrow!

Bathsheba3 · 26/09/2016 19:24

Yea Sugar ! I have NEVER known a pair of skinnies to fall down on me - that is seriously good work.

Now Not - your time to finish-up in the kitchen and then keep out the rest of the evening. I'm about to eat, but all logged and am in at 1287 for the day.

Wine has arrived into the house in the form of a case - 12 whole bottles - that DH gets delivered quarterly. I can almost smell it through the cardboard, glass and corks ..... bet the rotter opens some tonight as well, and drinks it in front of me as payback for not buying any all month.

Sugarandsalt · 26/09/2016 19:32

I was close to 14stone when I bought them so it is entirely possible that I stretched them beyond repair!

Cinderbelly · 26/09/2016 20:28

Hello all I know I've been awol this week but I'm back on top of things now and raring to go!
Last week was a wipeout as I knew it would be really, with work conference and DDs birthday. I've put in 2lb since last Monday.
I've realised how important it is for me to post here often too as you all really help me keep on track.
So here we go, I'm considering last week a blip and it's onwards and downwards from now on

Not2bObvious · 26/09/2016 20:33

Oh yeah bath kitchen is closed at 1110😁
I'm well happy, 1st day in an age with nothing bad passing my lips! Bootcamp session number 3 tomorrow, hopefully I won't be in the same state as last week...

madein1995 · 26/09/2016 20:50

Kitchen closed (except for drinks) at 1173. Lunch was a ham sandwich, bliss muller corner and red grapes (385). Got to swimming before pool opened so had a black coffee with 1 sugar, also had that small biscuit they give you with your cuppa (45 cals for sugar and biccie). Tea was a bowl of leek and potato and 100g baguette (438) Had 70g green grapes afterwards as fancied something sweet. Also had a cup of tea and 1 sugar (23). Just had the remainder of the soup (185g, only a tiny portion) and a slice of bread with 7g butter (123). Am going to only drink water or hot ribena the rest of the night. Weirdly, this is the least crap filled day I've had in a while and I feel the fullest - not overly stuffed but happy and definitely not hungry enough for a cheese sandwich Smile

Sugarandsalt · 26/09/2016 21:23

Kitchen closed here at 1150cals. 12000 steps and 30 day shred done. Sounds like everyone's had a good day here! Bath keep your resolve. Cinder good to see you back. Not I think once you've used those muscles recently they won't hurt as much again. I'm quite enjoying my 30day shred now, but I know I'll be in bits again Friday after starting level 2 Thursday.

Made don't forget to count the drinks calories, they can add up very fast! It's good that you are cutting back on snacking, you really will feel so much better for it. Left to my own devices I'd happily graze all day too but that did me no favours as I seem to have no off switch, I find consciously meal planning and limiting snacks to a piece of fruit or occasionally some dates made a big difference.

Fingers crossed I'll be back under 12stone by Friday.

Hopefully · 26/09/2016 21:24

Made I find that if I eat cleanly all day I feel pleasantly full. Hardly ever happens, but hunger is definitely lower when it does!

not good luck for bootcamp!

Kitchen closed at a somewhat unimpressive 1,800, but have earned a couple of hundred at least in exercise, so not totally hideous. Wonder whether tomorrow will be higher or lower than today - I'm hoping I'm at peak bloat and therefore it will be downwards from here, but who knows what weighing scale trauma my body has lined up for me.

madein1995 · 26/09/2016 21:28

Oops, meant to say I included the warm ribena in my calorie count but not the water Smile

Not2bObvious · 26/09/2016 21:29

Interesting thread on chat about what you eat in a day if you're healthy weight/bmi, worth a look - lots of eggs mentioned. Level 2 isn't that bad sugar iirc, certainly not if you've mastered level 1 (amazing how long 20 minutes can be with Jillian!) I don't think I ever made it to level 3. My hip is aching, I wasn't sure why then remembered I did a few squats in work while waiting for the kettle to boil. I was clearly on my own at the time😁

Evening all. The cat and I have popped in to say hello although he really isn't bothered about his waistline! Been a good day food wise here...
Overnight oats
Quorn fake ham salad
Stir fry veg and prawns
Snack 1 sweet Ryvita with peanut butter
3 cups of tea milk no sugar
3L water
1 hour Latino Fit
I think I'm on about 1100 calories today. Don't ask about the cat!

Hopefully · 27/09/2016 05:33

Keep I live on herbal tea. Probably have four or five boxes on the go at any time. Am such an addict.

Over a pound down on yesterday's peak bloat, but still just over a pound up on last week's low. If the diet gods could just see to it that I lose another pound overnight tonight, that would be super.
