must well done! Grin

hopefully glad things seem to be going your way. Smile

C'mon stewards!

Don't do it sparkle!

Weighed in at a smidgen under 10st 4lb this morning, just what I wanted to see. That's a clear 2st off, with a 138 day streak on mfp! Grin Did have a full veggie breakfast today and half a patisserie though..... But it's all logged and I've been good the rest of the day so I'm still happy.

Hopefully · 28/08/2016 09:16

Up to 10st 7lb Angry this morning after epic period-related scoff fest (we're staying with friends, they cook too much nice food!). I did log everything though, and was 'only' 1,000 calories over yesterday if I include exercise cals, and 300 over the day before. Another day of probably indulging (walk and pub lunch) then home tomorrow and fingers crossed the excess will shed fairly quickly as I can't see how it can be much more than 0.5-1lb of 'real' gain.

Logging every day, even the bad ones, has definitely stopped me going too far over recently.

Sesame great loss, well done!

Sparkle hope you managed to resist the lure.

Landoni112 · 28/08/2016 10:02

Hi everyone, has anyone noticed you can only enter whole pounds the weight section of mfp? I have the standard version and want to go back to being able to put in eg. 11stone 5.25 but no longer can?

Bathsheba3 · 28/08/2016 10:52

MustBe - 3 stone. AMAZING !!! Delurking to send you lots of StarStarStar

Sugarandsalt · 28/08/2016 11:19

Glad to see everyone doing so well!

I'm just back from a month in Ireland, 2lbs up. Which I can live with! Back on the wagon now! Aiming to lose 1 stone more by Christmas, taking it slow now after dropping just under 4 so far. Target weight is 10st 7 to start with, that's 21lbs away.

Bathsheba3 · 28/08/2016 11:20

Am back in. You have all inspired me that it can be done. I was going to start 1st Sept, but may as well take the plunge today. Breakfast just logged into MFP.

Am so unhappy with myself it is time to stop making excuses and JUST DO IT Smile

MustBeThin · 28/08/2016 11:53

Thanks everyone Grin Well done on the losses! Star

Bath good to see you posting again hope you've been well.

10st 7 again this morning. I did eat half of a tub of Haagen Dazs last night Blush it'd been in my freezer weeks so I decided a few days ago that I was going to get stuck on Saturday night. Grin I don't regret it.

Not2bObvious · 28/08/2016 12:16

Hopefully you really haven't gained 2lb, it's just bloat/undigested ballast in the main hold if you catch my drift - even if you had you wouldn't see it so quickly. It'll be gone in a day or two. Plenty of water, back to normal eating & you'll be back on track.
Bath great to "see" you😉
I'm nursing my second hangover of the weekend, feeling rough as a bears behind. My own fault of course but coupled with a sodding cold is making me want to weep😩 And I've company for dinner tonight so can't even go to bed early. So basically I'm in bed for the day until I absolutely have to peel myself out of it to start the roast. Thank god for an understanding DH and kids old enough to be relatively self sufficient. Don't even get me started on how many cals I've put away in alcohol form

sparkle789 · 28/08/2016 17:22

Sesame well done on 2stone that's fab!

I managed to resist them yesterday and we've been to a friends and I didn't eat any of what looked like the most amazing cheesecake ever!

Weighed in today as I want Sunday's as WI day and from Wednesday to today I've lost 4lbs :) so pleased it's pushed me on to stick to mfp and really do it this time.

StewardsEnquiry · 28/08/2016 21:28

Argh I've had some stress these last few days. So I have tried to numb it with wine and chocolate. My scales need a new battery so I don't know what damage I have done but from tomorrow I'm going to get it sorted. I have my proper weigh in on Wednesday so I hope I can get it right by then!

Wallywobbles · 28/08/2016 22:13

Hopefully I munch on raw sugar snap peas. There delicious at ridiculously low in calories and lovely and crunchy and quite sweet.

Wallywobbles · 28/08/2016 22:24

Umm. Hi. I've been following you all through the last thread and it motivated me to take drastic action. I'm doing VLCD and MFP and I use a misfit. I'm also really trying to drink 3 litres a day.

So 5 weeks in I'm 9.7 kgs down to 89.5kg from a hefty 98.8kgs. Target weight 70, so such a long way to go. 42lbs to go.

MustBeThin · 29/08/2016 12:18

Well done Sparkles that's amazing.

Welcome Wally 9.7kg is brilliant.

I went into town this morning and tried on a pair of jeans that I already own in a size 10. I took them off the rail and thought no bloody way are they going to fit me, they look too small. Tried them on and they fit perfectly 😮 I can't believe it I must be slimmer than I think I am because I seriously didn't think the jeans would fit me at all despite my others been a little loose. Gone from mostly 14-16 on jeans (mostly 16) to a 10 😆

Not2bObvious · 29/08/2016 12:21

Welcome wally, well done on the loss, that's a significant amount in 5 weeks. What vlcd are you doing? What's your daily calorie intake?
Someone asked about bsd, if you look under the 5:2 section you'll see a thread about it. It's not long term, only meant to be for 8 weeks (unless you've a lot to lose) 800 cals a day, low carb, no low fat, cut out sugar (including fruit) aim for 10,000 steps a day. Good for people who are t2 or at risk of it. It helped me break into the 11's after being stuck firmly in the 12's for a long time. Now I'm stuck in the 11's forever it feels. Mainly cause I mess up royally at weekends.
My scales is showing a huge gain today but it should be gone by Friday....only for me to regain again next weekend😁 Disaster zone! I'm feeling quite yuck today, haven't eaten yet but might chance a slice of brown toast soon. So we all set for a good week?

Sugarandsalt · 29/08/2016 12:27

Welcome Wally! You've had an amazing start. I started at 101kg (gulp) in January. Today (after a months holidays) I'm 77kg. Target is 65ish. We will get there!

Sparkle well done!

I restarted couch25k today, and have strict meal plan made for the week ahead. Planning to do 30day shred again too.

My parental leave finishes on Thursday so I'm back to work then- using the next few days to get organised!

SesameSparkle · 29/08/2016 13:06

hopefully well done on the logging – I think that’s really important to understanding the trends of how you eat, why and when. I had a 1000kcal takeaway last night of burrito and triple cooked chips (I didn’t know such a thing existed before…), it’s all logged, but luckily my exercise calories for yesterday helped negate some of the damage. And interestingly, afterwards I didn’t feel that satisfied – although I had a shit load of calories I didn’t actually enjoy the meal that much.

sugar welcome back onto the wagon and well done on a more manageable gain Smile

bath, hi nice to meet you, welcome back!

must size 10 jeans must feel amazing!

Not I might have been asking about bsd, I’ve read some of the mn threads on it. I’m interested in what goes on as I credit my big weight loss to more or less giving up sugar. Although I do still have the odd sugary treat and still eat fruit every day.

sparkle well done on resisting the treats Halo and congrat on the loss!

stewards fingers crossed even with the Wine and Chocolate things are still going in the right direction overall.

wally welcome, 10kg off in 5 weeks is an extraordinary loss, well done! What is it you get to eat in a typical day?

sugar well done on restarting C25k! I started that programme 3 years ago and I’ve never looked back.

Hit a new low this morning, 10st 3lb. Grin Chuffed with that. That’s also 1st below my mfp target – which I had set at my technically overweight bmi ‘lowest weight ever’, which was the healthy eating/non-dieting low my body naturally reached 2 years ago.

I went through my wardrobe last night taking out more clothes that don’t fit. I can’t quite bring myself to throw out the ‘too big’ clothes altogether though…. so lots has been moved to the ‘overflow’ wardrobe and under-bed bags. The down side is that there’s not a great deal left, as that included some of my best size 14 work stuff from that point in 2014. So now I have just 1 skirt, 1 well-fitting jeans (new) (plus some passable ones I’ve left in there), no trousers, 4 dresses in my current size (3 new), plus some bigger dresses I can get away with if I add a belt, a handful of tops, and some knitwear which still is generally ok. I was shopping at the weekend, trying on 12s mostly. I’m fairly cautious about buying though as if I lose any more the fit won’t be quite right, and they wouldn’t be much good either if I gain again. Hmm I’m also nervous about getting stuff taken in, if the weight loss isn’t as permanent as I would like…. So I will have to buy a few bits for now, but restrict myself to things I know I will get loads of wear out of from the off.

sophiestew · 29/08/2016 15:26

Hiya

Am thinking of trying MFP again. I am about 2 stone overweight at 12 and a half stone, and am 5ft 6, size 14/16. I lost ten pounds before and then plateaued and lost the will. Obviously put the ten lbs back on Angry

MFP tells me I need 1200 calories a day and if I have less it tells me off, but I just don't lose anything on that level any more. Do experienced users think it will be OK for me to set it to 1000 or is that really too low? Maybe 100?

I think years of yoyo dieting have completely messed up my metabolism (early 50s now)

I might combine MFP with the Paul McKenna CD I have somewhere as that was also helpful in the past. Am really happy to take on advice from more experienced and successful dieters. My downfall is, erm, alcohol Blush

SesameSparkle · 29/08/2016 16:10

I'm on over 1600kcal a day (mfp set on half a pound a week) and I've lost 2st in 140days. I log everything against this total though, vegetables, celery, spinach, it doesn't matter. I also walk most days which likely accounts for the slightly greater loss than predicted (I don't log in the calories for these sorts of everyday activities).

sophiestew · 29/08/2016 16:27

Oh I should have explained - I am disabled so can't really get any exercise credits.

I do log every last morsel though, am very strict and honest. I will kick start again and see what happens.

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 29/08/2016 17:24

Deep breath...and I'm back Blush

First, thank you SO much Sesame, Stewards, Hopefully and Must I can't say that enough Flowers. I kept reading since I last posted and all your posts genuinely helped me so much.

You know, I can't remember when I last bought or ate "just" a normal bar of chocolate with 8 squares. I hope I don't have a slip-up again, but if I do (most likely) I will try to just buy one normal bar and see what happens. I am in southern Ireland and we have a huge supermarket chain called Dunnes Stores (hard to describe but maybe a cross between M&S and Asda) and they still have sweets at the till and are ALWAYS having special offers on the pouches - 2 for €4 etc etc. Not that I need an excuse mind you Angry.

Anyway enough talk of chocolate or I will set myself off again Blush. Lots of catching up to do...

Sesame well done on the new low!! And you're over the 2st mark now wahoo. Honest to God, 138 day streak on MFP is mind-boggling to me - you are amazing. I giggled when I read about your wardrobe clear-out - my version of clothes that don't fit = clothes that are too small. Yours is that they are too big!!! Grin I hear you on being reluctant to throw big stuff away - I was the same when I lost before - there must be something to that. It's very exciting being able to shop for new sizes though - huge congratulations Star.

Stewards thank you for setting up the new thread. And 4.25lbs in just over a week - that is brilliant! Sorry that you've had a few difficult days - good luck for Wednesday (we have the same weigh-in day).

shortaris that sounds like a really good approach, there is no point doing this and being miserable and it needs to be an overall feel-good benefit - not just numbers. Please keep checking in and let us know how you're doing.

Hopefully you have done really well to keep logging every day and it is only a horrible TOTM blip. I am not the person to advise on snacks, but I do find if I drink loads of water and at least one cup of (decaf) coffee it really helps. My only snack of choice so far has been choccie rice-cakes (about 70 cals) but they're probably not in the healthy camp.

Must 3st!!!!!! And a Size 10!!!! IMHO you deserved the Haagen Dazs Wink and you sound so happy it's infectious Grin. Please keep posting and inspiring us all - you are fabulous Star.

Loli Wow you are onto the next milestone now - well done! How did the 5k go?

Not2b Hi and welcome back Flowers. I find weekends my un-doing as well, but sometimes during the week I aim for a 900/1000 cal day that gives me a little bit of leeway. And very good advice to hopefully about logging in advance - I am going to steal that too. Good luck for this week - it's always hard to recover from a cold so be gentle with yourself.

Welcome sparkle and well done on the loss so far. One of the many things I've learned here is that many of us are yo-yo dieters (me definitely) but it really helps posting here and hearing how well everyone is doing. And well done on resisting the yummy stuff!!!

Landoni I log in KG so can't help with that unfortunately so hopefully someone will be along soon who can help.

Bathsheba Hi and well done on starting again!!! Keep us updated on what you are eating/logging and how it is going!

Hi Sugarandsalt I think I joined after your trip! 2lbs up is really nothing after time away - esp to here! And wow 4 so far - that is fantastic.

Welcome Wally and yy 9.7kg is brilliant - esp in 5 weeks! If it's hard to think of the overall goal, maybe break it into smaller milestones - that way you get the famous confetti etc more and it might help with motivation.

Welcome sophie I have read v good things about the Paul McKenna publications. You lost 10lb before so you can do it again - and more!!! One trick I read here is that if MFP tells you off, just add some 'fake' quick calories to shush it Wink. Could you add 200 fake calories every morning to trick it? But, one caution is whether 1000 is enough long-term for you in health and nutrition terms - I really don't know how it's calculated.

Ok that's more than enough of an essay for one post. Will post again in a tic with my boring update....

Not2bObvious · 29/08/2016 17:41

Another Ireland'er here dawg (nice phonetics btw😉) I'm allergic to dunnes (used to work there as a poor student) but a nice bar of roisins at the Aldi checkout - ooh don't mind if I do😁

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 29/08/2016 17:42

OMG I had no idea how long that post would look Blush.

Anyway, I'm back on the wagon. V prone to wallowing and self-pity as is obvious from my previous posts, so I've tried to give myself a good talking-to over the last few days Angry. At least I've started harshly analysing my triggers and responses for bad lapses in my willpower.

Had a sneaky weigh-in this morning and only up 0.1kg since Wednesday which is a win based on my eating lately. Started logging again on Sat but not hitting 1200 target yet; today looks like it's going to be about 1,450. But, no chocolate since Thurs and planning to start back on c25k this evening. Bit nervous as not sure if I can pick up the end of wk1 - will see how I go.

B: Porridge 190
L: Boiled egg, bread, some leftover roast lamb and half a leftover doughnut Blush 650
D: Hairy bikers chicken cordon bleu and we're trying parsnip mash for the first time [eek] estimating around 600

coragreta · 29/08/2016 21:53

Can I join in?
I lost 50lb with mfp last year and the fell pregnant and put half back on. Starting again and hoping to lose about 40lbs this time.

Wallywobbles · 29/08/2016 22:31

I am doing slim and save, which has been fine up to now. When I was last in the uk I did a big order, but only got things which I knew I liked. I probably ought to have stretched myself on the savoury options as I suspect I'm going to get bored of rotating just 3!

I have been doing a lot of asian style pho soups for my evening meal - which is basically a water based stock with lots of lemon grass, chili, ginger, soya sauce type bases and adding my 100g of meat and 200g of veg to poach at the end. Very filling - and can be shared with all the family (we are 8).

So yesterday
Breakfast s&s vanilla milk shake and black coffee
Lunch s&s cottage pie
Snack s&s coconut chocolate bar
supper home made asian fish pho (soup) and 100g of slim noodles

Recipe was the following for fish pho
8 portions - 140 calories per portion
500 ml, veg stock
100ml of home made fish stock (basically boiled prawn heads with some spices)
Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillet 4 Pack 400g
400 g, Lieu (white fish)
2 tbsp (16g), Tamarind Paste
8 g, Lemongrass Paste
100 g, King Prawns
2 tsp., Crushed Red Chili Pepper Flakes
50 grams, Onion
25 g, Crushed Garlic 25g
2 leaf, Bay Leaf
2 star, Star Anise, Whole
1 tbsp, Ginger
15 ml, Soya Sauce
1 tsp, Garam Masala
10.00 g, Coriander
400 g, chopped Mange Tout 200g
200 g, chopped Sugar Snap Peas

Today
Breakfast s&s vanilla milk shake and black coffee
lunch Steak and small green salad (no sauces)
Snack S&S dark chocolate bar
Supper S&S tiki masala, with some courgette from the garden cooked in a bit of water, chicken stock with a dash of soya sauce.

Hopefully · 30/08/2016 05:02

Still firmly up at 10st 7lb this morning, boo. BUT, I am back home for good now, the summer holiday travelling is over, so I can get back to normal from today. I actually feel hungover from all the sugar/processed food/lack of vegetables I have eaten, as I generally have a very 'clean' diet, even when not dieting. I'm really pleased I've kept logging throughout being away/my usual period related binge-fest, as it's kept me semi-under control and let me see where I go wrong.

Not planning anything major now I'm home, just back to sticking within calories and daily yoga and walking again. I really want to get down to my next reward weight (10st 4lb) so I can buy another item of clothing!
