Ah Sugarandsalt I didn't realise you were Irish too! We've invading Grin. I know what you mean - I have to call it the airing cupboard and take a deep breath before saying film instead of filum Grin. Great to see your food - it all sounds v tasty I might rob some ideas.

coragreta I don't eat my exercise calories either - I try not to look at them at all as I think they give me a false sense of security.

Not2B try not to think about the whole month. Just think about today and focus on how proud you will feel going to bed having stuck to your plan. Good luck with the weigh-in! In terms of maintenance cals - there is a way to work it out I think (called TDEE). I have an app called Swole Calc that does it for me.

shortaris well done on such a tiny gain after time away - your weight now is close to my long-term target! Never heard of Clean Eating Alice either - like the idea of it but not sure H would go for it.

Hopefully Grin at you having words with your scales. Wahoo a loss is a loss! In terms of 1200, if you can manage a day or two each week as a 'soup' day it really helps the overall average (cup a soup is about 90 cals). I really think this will get things going for you.

sugarmonster you're having lovely food too. Gammon and chips - mmmm.

Bathsheba ditto - chips, peas and fish - heaven. I don't know how slim people do it either - I only know 2 permanently slim people and all they seem to eat is lettuce and tofu. It's not very inspiring really Hmm but they don't seem to miss 'nice' food.

Loli that sounds like a lovely day and food. And wow 3l of water!! I drink about 1.5 l of warm water (H thinks it's disgusting) during work hours but don't really think I could manage more. This 40-year old bladder is not what it used to be either.

wally a 12 week plan sounds really motivational - then there's an end in sight and a milestone that's not too far away.

Aw ella I ended up going way over yesterday too. BUT it's only one day and we might still be under our TDEE and therefore not cause any damage to the plan! At least that's what I'm telling myself Wink.

Emily well done on the loss already Star. And oh my - I must admit as much as I love my food, those shakes just look too much. I hope they don't catch on over here - our portion sizes are already starting to get v American.

Sooo....Blush per the above change of plan yesterday. Went out with H to our usual place and had chicken burger and sweet potato fries again putting me at 1700 for the day.

Back on plan sort-of for today, but haven't managed a soup day lately so about 1250 for today:
B: Porridge 190
L: Poached egg, bread, choccie biccies (but fewer) 520
D: Yesterday's planned dinner - fish, spuds and veg 530

Also broken the back of c25k - I'm finally on week 2 after 3 weeks on week 1 Hmm. Still going ok - knees taking a beating but IIRC it's week 4/5 where the pain really starts.

Also, just to try to fill an entire Hmm page, forgot to mention yesterday I did my body measurements for first time in ages. I thought it was ages but it was a actually a whole year! Took all my vital statistics with a measuring tape and some very dodgy photos in my undies Blush. Hoping in 6 months time I will look back and go - wow look how smaller and less fatty I am Grin. My aim is to measure monthly - interestingly though I'm much bigger now than I was at the same weight a few years ago - middle aged spread at its finest Sad.

sugarmonster64 · 01/09/2016 19:29

Ok day today. Knew I was having a big dinner so ate sensibly during the day

B: brown toast and a boiled egg
L: lentil soup and an apple
D: pasta carbonara with creme fraiche
Snacks were 2 satsuma and an earl grey biscuit.

Forgot how hard 1200 calories is when I'm counting everything. Really need to up my exercise calories but between work and kids don't have much time - am doing daily yoga though although only 20-30 mins before bed! Got long car journey tomorrow so will have to plan well, snacking to stop boredom is my big downfall

ellanutella8 · 01/09/2016 19:52

Thanks Daw Well done on your C25K

I take back what I said about finding 1200 manageable. Back at work today and lunch was provided. Had the healthy option but still gone over again. Taking my own lunch tomorrow. Dieting really sucks the fun out of eating.
Walked uphill again so at least I'm doing more exercise!

Hopefully · 01/09/2016 20:02

Argh, DS1 made brigadeiros today after seeing them in a magazine, so I had to eat two one. So today has finished at just over 1,500 calories. I did earn about 250 in exercise, so if we pretend the exercise calories are accurate it's not too bad Grin.

I am very much viewing 1,200 as a short term thing. Weirdly I can eat quite a lot and maintain - up to about 1,900-2,000 - despite my inability to lose at anything more than about 1,400!

dawhead good idea on the soup day - in fact I have courgette and leek soup in the menu plan for tomorrow, which will surely only have about 12 calories in it!

Bathsheba3 · 01/09/2016 20:59

ha ha Dawhead - I also took some photos of self in mirror in undies, after taking a peak at some of the photo success stories on the MFP communities page. OMG, I rarely look in the mirror, and it's no wonder. But the thought of posting those pics on the internet is simply terrifying. How on earth can they do it?

Kitchen closed at 1240 cals, and day 3 of no wine & sugar. Struggling, plus have a headache. But feeling proud of myself too.

Well done on ticking-off another day everyone!

Bathsheba3 · 01/09/2016 21:00

maybe you'll loose an extra 1 or 2 lbs in wind after your soup hopefully Wink

Not2bObvious · 01/09/2016 21:51

Oh I'm am old hand at the tdee thing dawg😁 I did 5:2 for a year and a half and by God you get well versed on the science of weight loss on them threads. Still didn't work for me though greedy bum that I am
I've actually had the body composition test done by a nutritionist about 3 years ago and my tdee is a shade under 1600, short arse that I am. It tallies with the online ones too.
Anyway in other news, had company over for dinner and keep to 2 glasses of wine, on the tea now. Just under 1600 so at tdee, good enough for now.

EmilyDickinson · 01/09/2016 23:25

Just briefly checking in as its getting late. I had my usual porridge for breakfast and soup for lunch which kept me on track till then, but then, bowled over by my own success had a couple of biscuits after lunch, which left me a bit short on calories for the rest of the day. I tend to have my biggest meal in the evening with DH. I went for a couple of walks to get chores done and was busy most of the day so was absolutely starving by the time DH got home and found myself agreeing to his suggestion of wine, which, even with a 600 ish Jamie 15 mins meal (the pork in Marsala one for those that have the book) put me over the 1,200, though under if I'm counting those exercise calories. Which I am!

Not toooo bad all things considered and I've had more water than usual today and declined pudding. Smile

Hopefully · 02/09/2016 05:01

Emily well done on coming in at a sensible level yesterday despite wine and good food!

Not2be wow, 1,600 TDEE really doesn't give you a lot of wiggle room for dieting without going to very low levels, you are doing so well to keep going.

sugarmonster car journey snacking is always my downfall! Plain rice cakes, seeds and absolutely tons of plans and flavoured fizzy water got me through the last few (although I still always gain after a long journey, I think I get water retention from sitting down all day).

Down another tiny fraction today, but I'm just pleased that yesterday's loss is 'real' (ie it lasted more than a day!) and survived a day when I actually ate some calories.

Aiming for 1,200 again today, but going to allow myself 25-50% of my exercise calories as doing yoga and going for a walk later (with the DC, so not exactly expecting an epic burn). Taking a packed lunch and contemplating attempting some homemade Nutella for the DCs to have with fruit for a snack, but worried it will be tasty and I will end up scoffing it all!

Lolimax · 02/09/2016 05:57

Morning! This thread is keeping me so motivated well done to everyone on your weight loss. I'm down today was 14.1 last Friday am 13.13 so finally into the 13's!! Actually bought size 14's jeans yesterday even though the rest of me is a 16.
I've been off work this week so have found it easy to eat healthy and done loads of exercise. As I'm up so early I'm off for an early morning swim then I'll take the dogs out for an hour. I'll also swim tomorrow as DH wants to go 'out out' so I need to compensate for the calories somewhere!
Those of you who are struggling with the 1200 calories I low-carb so the only time I eat my carbs is my oats in the morning. It was really hard to begin with but I don't miss them now and fill up with salad and veg. It's not for everyone but has certainly stopped me bloating.

Not2bObvious · 02/09/2016 07:25

Congratulations lolimax that's so brilliant! Moving into a new stone bracket is a great feeling. I agree, low carb definitely makes the calories stretch further. And I found the less carbs I had, the less I wanted them. I barely ate bread potatoes pasta at all for nearly 6 months - but it got too much, the lure of a slice of toast broke me😁
I'm 11.5.4 today so that's my start weight, 4 weigh in's until the end of September. Looking at the thread for 7lb in September. I can't even imagine that the way my weight loss, or lack of, has been going. But I'm putting it out there, this day 4 weeks my scales is going to show 10 something! Now it's out there in the universe, better use this weekend to change my usual behaviour.
Happy Friday all😉

coragreta · 02/09/2016 07:55

Well done everyone.
I am shocked that I've lost 2lbs since Monday. Especially since I broke my calories yesterday by eating profiteroles. (Couldn't even bring myself to track them). This loss is very motivating.

Fitterbysixty · 02/09/2016 08:19

Congratulations everyone for sticking at it, especially Lolimax for starting a new stone. At 14.5 I'm in a size 22 trouser, I carry most of my weight on my rear. I can't see me being a size 14 for a long, long while, certainly not at 13.13. My husband is reclaiming parts of his wardrobe, he appeared in a "new" pair of jeans this morning and a "new" shirt yesterday.

I'll use my exercise calories to have a glass of wine in the evening, just the one, but I try to make sure that I have 700 calories or so from exercise left over.

I have no idea how much I weigh, I stand on the scales but have forgotten by the time I'm through the bathroom door. It's been a week of tears, I want to sob my heart out but am doing the mum thing where you provide a shoulder for everyone else to cry on. It's all crap really but I'm determined not to let my good habits slip. MFP keeps telling me off for not eating enough, I can't remember a week where I've put so much food in the bin. There is nothing at all you could put in front of me that I could eat, I've even gone off tea. (Sorry, that's as far as I can go, I'll get over it, it's onwards and upwards from here)

Not2bObvious · 02/09/2016 10:24

💐 Fitter, hope you're ok, sounds like you're in a hard place - mind yourself when you can

SesameSparkle · 02/09/2016 13:02

Wow, what a lot of updates! Smile

fitter Flowers

cora well done!

Not you can get back into the 10s and you will! Smile

loli yay for the jeans and for being so motivated!

hopefully Loving the list of rewards, I must think about what my own might be if I make it to 10st. Glad you are seeing the results again!

emily I know that feeling of realising you might not have enough calories left over for dinner…. Wink But glad you turned yesterday into a successful day in the end!

bath sounds like you are making a good start, and how lovely to have fresh flowers in the house! Wink

ella I struggle when I occasionally get a free work lunch at a conference or meeting. I end up having to log ridiculous amounts of calories just for a handful of sandwich quarters – and I’m always hungry again within a couple of hours. Always makes me wish I brought my own.

sugar well done for a very healthy day yesterday

dawhead well done on C25K – go you! I’ve never photographed myself in my undies, but I do measure myself on occasion. Only, I always lose the bits of paper with my measurements on, so don’t really know the progression.

My weight has been hovering between 10st3 and 10st4 all week. So no more losses to record, but no more disasters either. I have been pretty much been eating all my calories every day plus a few more for luck so although I’m feeling a bit disappointed not to get a sustained 10st3 I guess I wasn’t really expecting a dramatic change.

Onwards and downwards mfp-ers! Grin

ellanutella8 · 02/09/2016 18:14

Fitter sounds like you need that wine. Flowers

So turns out I can do dieting or exercise but not dieting and exercise. Didn't walk to work today and found life much easier.
B: Microwave omelette
L: Ham salad, blueberries
Just had a slice of wholemeal toast.
Not sure what's for tea but not hungry.

Bathsheba3 · 02/09/2016 18:33

yea Lolimax - in the 13's!!! Well done you. One milestone reached. What's the next? 13 7?

2 lbs is amazing coragreta ! Keep up the good work.

Sorry you are feeling a bit glum fitter. Sadly this weight-loss isn't solved by waving a magic wand. And the eating bit is far easier. Be VERY kind to yourself. Treat yourself, and your body with respect, and think of food as nourishing. Small steps, and slowly does it.

Sesame - 10 st 3 sounds pretty good to me - but I do know it is all relative Wink. Staying the same is much better than having one bad day & thinking sod it. keep on going.

No exercise for me either today ella. Don't know how you can't be hungry though ... I seem to be permanently rumbling.

Sugarandsalt · 02/09/2016 18:56

I weighed in today. Down 2lbs so I've dropped the weight I gained on my holidays.

After my binge yesterday I'm delighted. I ended up walking all over London in an effort to sort out my IT access at work so have 20000 steps without dedicated exercise!

Today I had overnight oats for breakfast, a falafel salad for lunch, a few dates as a snack and am having a chicken+prawn curry with cauliflower rice for dinner. 1300 calories.

Ella I find it hard to diet and exercise too.

It's great seeing this thread so busy before the weekend, so motivating!

coragreta · 02/09/2016 19:14

I'm going out for a meal tonight but the table is booked for 9:30? Obviously not my idea. I'm already starving!!! I fear I will need a snack which will definitely put me over. It's a shame since I ran 5.5 miles today to make sure I had calories for dinner.

Hopefully · 02/09/2016 19:35

I'm a tiny bit over for today, even with my exercise calories (1,500, and I earned something like 250 in exercise), but I'm pleased it was that little as we ended up having dinner out after swimming - I had a burger with no bun, salad and sweet potato fries, so as good as I could make it! Hoping my loss stays or increases tomorrow nonetheless! Am going to glug plenty of water and herbal tea this evening.

Wallywobbles · 02/09/2016 21:06

Well done all. Sounds like everyone is still making progress. Thank you for helping me stay motivated.

I was done to 88 kg this morning which is 23.81 lbs. I've been doing a lot if swimming as walking is now bloody agony. I've got a ball of nerves on the top of my foot just before my toes and if anything presses on it it really hurts.

Apparently I need an orthopedic whatsit for that foot. It's a case of one injury to foot has created the other. That'll teach me to put off going to the doctor about it for a year!

I'm longing to loose the kangaroo pouch. When will it go?

SesameSparkle · 02/09/2016 22:56

ella I'd also be starved on that, but well done you for keeping in check

Thanks bath, I've got my eye on the 10st2 prize and would love to see that number....

sugar nice work and we'll done on 20,000 steps. My step count was somewhat boosted by a little late night shopping yesterday - at least it's good for my health if not bank balance....

cora I'm so impressed by your building up a 5.5 mile exercise credit before dinner - hope you had a nice time?

hopefully I do like herbal tea to help me stay on track. The ones with fennel or liquorice are my favs just now.

wally well done but sorry about the ouchy foot Flowers I think I lost a lot of bottom first before the weight started to come off my belly. Boobs too unfortunately. Sad

I've completed my diary today 80kcal over, which is pretty typical of my week overall. Over 1700 today, which is a lot of food compared with the food logs shared on here. But I'm ok with that.

Hopefully · 03/09/2016 06:10

Wally well done on the continued loss, you're doing so well! Hope the foot recovers soon. Tummy loss depends so much on body shape/height IMO. I am 'lucky' in having short legs and a long body in that my tummy goes flat quite quickly, but it does mean I am stuck with short legs forever Grin.

Sesame if 1,700 a day is working for you, then go with it. No point punishing yourself more than you need to.

cora I hope you didn't expire before dinner! I absolutely can't do late meals any more - I feel totally sick if I eat after about 8pm these days. It can be useful on days when I've run out of calories, as if I can hold off till then my appetite completely goes.

Down a fraction again today to just below 10st 5lb. So I am exactly back to my pre-PMT low of a fortnight ago, earlier than I usually manage in my cycle. Now the 'real' loss of this month can start. Sticking to the boring 1,200 for now while the motivation is strong, might as well make the most of it. Cannot imagine sticking to it for months on end, so impressed with those of you that manage it.

I have a course for three hours this morning, slightly hoping they don't have any biscuits on offer as I know I will munch away out of boredom. Going to take some plain rice cakes and a banana with me in an effort to hold it together if they do.

StewardsEnquiry · 03/09/2016 07:49

Good luck Hopefully. I find having a really sweet tea some times helps me resist a biscuit (with sweetener not sugar).

I'm slowly losing the gain from last weekend. Down to 11.3 and 1/4 this morning and I was under calories yesterday. I don't have much on this weekend so going to try hard to keep on track.

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 03/09/2016 08:50

You're doing so well wally, fair play to you finding an alternative rather than giving in to the pain - it sounds v painful, poor you.
Hope, I remember someone on the 5:2 boards suggesting when faced with plates of food (peanuts & crisps were mentioned though) to imagine all the yucky germs that could be around them - like the bar nuts idea. Sorry to bring such unsavoury thoughts to the thread but as long as you make sure you're not hungry, you might be able to use this idea to avoid the bikkies. High calorie day yesterday (2500) but today will be better and I'm still 11.5.4 so no immediate bloat. Following my water plan today, first glass in, low carb breakfast in an hour. Aim for today is to go no higher than 1600, bring it on😁
