A half a stone in May?

DeepFriedFlamingo · 30/04/2016 13:24

So I've managed to pick up half a stone from somewhere and need to lose it so starting tomorrow going to try...

Not doing anything special just going to eat less and move more.

Who's with me? I have a Fitbit and am willing to challenge anyone Grin

In!

RainbowFlower24 · 07/05/2016 14:48

Going on holiday so might check in a bit more regularly this week - you are all very inspiring. I managed to get up and go for a 10000 pace walk this morning. No Fitbit but my phone counts steps. I am in awe of the 20k step average

Hrafnkel · 07/05/2016 15:05

Where are you going, rainbow? Will it be hot? Scenic? Getting up early and getting a walk in is a lovely way to start a day on holiday, I find, even if or drunk a bit the night before. Have a good time!

Hrafnkel · 07/05/2016 15:07

Eurgh, that sounded a bit preachy, sorry. My target is to fit in exercise during the odd spare few minutes but at the moment the only way I get them is by getting up early Smile

Laoise9 · 07/05/2016 17:52

I am in

indigo88 · 07/05/2016 18:24

Not at all Hra. It's a great tactic. I take a big tub of chopped salad, particularly celery, to work to satisfy the 4pm come down following the adrenalin of the teaching day. need to chomp hard on something.

I've had a day of reverse psychology today. I have 'given' in to the sweet cravings intentionally so and now I'm very pleased to be back on the zero comfort eating and sugar treats. I seemed to be much more aware of the feel good factor from the past week and the cake and chocolate pudding wasn't a moment of weakness following the stress of resisting so not caught in the cycle of desire/guilt.

RainbowFlower24 · 07/05/2016 19:03

I'm going to a very large lake in Bavaria hrafnkel - we're self catering so should be ok. DH is being very supportive. Today I had half a slice of brown with ham and cucumber strawberries and kiwi then salad half a slice of brown and blue cheese fir lunch and chicken green beans and a couple of tablespoons of mash for dinner

PetersonPeterson · 07/05/2016 19:10

Going out for dinner tonight. Had a good day food-wise, but worried I'm going to go mad! Do you think you can eat healthily when out?! Planning on salmon then steak and slimline g&t.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 07/05/2016 19:20

Sometimes if I go out I just think 'life is too short' and have whatever I want. If I feel like sticking to plan I usually skip starter and have something like steak or fish for main and ask for extra veg or salad instead of the chips etc and stick to vodka and diet coke instead of wine.

I am having a low carb day today so yogurt for breakfast, quorn sausage, bacon, egg and mushrooms for lunch and having pork chops and green veg for tea. Feels like loads of food!

Hrafnkel · 07/05/2016 19:37

I love meat, so when I go out I usually have a fillet steak - hits all my 'treat' buttons - and salad instead of chips. On a good day I'll have peppermint tea instead of pudding. Very rare. I usually opt to drive: the second I have a sip of wine I want to eat ALL THE FOOD! Sad

Bavaria sounds lovely - have a great time.

BlueEyeshadow · 07/05/2016 19:42

Hm, I think my weight is down on last week, but for some reason MFP had registered my last weigh in as over a stone heavier than it actually was! Think there must have been some confusion over units as it was set to kg too, weirdly...

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 08/05/2016 07:28

Well I have lost no weight but nearly 2" off my waist and 1" off my hips so I'm pretty happy with that. Have a good Sunday, weather here is to be lovely so a nice long walk today.

hellogoodbyeendo · 08/05/2016 07:37

Hi all, weighing in at 2lb lighter than last week. Really pleased as that's the sort of gradual weight loss that turns into half a stone in no time. Feeling a lot healthier thanks to a positive approach to food, lots of focus on nutrition and kind self-talk. Like indigo88, I had a couple of squares of dark chocolate yesterday because I wanted to, rather than felt I needed to, and they were delicious. Now for a full week of health!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 08/05/2016 07:58

3lb lost in a less than a week (I last weighed on Tuesday but I want Sunday to be my new weigh in day hence weighed today) During the week I have been having yogurt for breakfast, 2 eggs either boiled or in an omelette with ham and cheese for lunch, then mostly just something and salad for tea like Salmon, marinated chicken breast etc This week I am going to try and be a bit more adventurous so tonight's tea is Taco Salad, so all the bits needed for Tacos except the shells mixed up in a big bowl with cheese and guacamole on top, sounds yum. Later in the week I have chicken curry with cauliflower rice instead of proper rice, Im treating that as my treat tea as the curry sauce is out of a jar so not that healthy! Well done everyone whose sticking in there.

Greatdomestic · 08/05/2016 12:39

Hi all, well done all who are sticking in there. I've been back on the exercise wagon the last few days, a class each day.

Went to a party last night, stuck to diet soft drinks but did have a small piece of birthday cake and a very small plate from the buffet. The unhealthy choices were sucking me in like a magnet, sadly. However, I did eat far less that I normally would, so I am hoping the scales will recognise that on Tuesday when I weigh in, fingers crossed

DeepFriedFlamingo · 08/05/2016 13:07

Some good good weight losses, I've lost a pound but also lost 1.5% body fat so am very happy

Keep going everyone, you're doing brilliantly

I am bit late to the thread, but can I join please? I lost my mojo with food, but I am exercising well, doing park runs and strength exercise dvd - plenty of planks! All good, but doesn't help me lose weight unless I actually cut down on the crap I seem to have started eating again! Lost 1 stone 1lb since Christmas, it's kept off, thanks to the exercise, no thanks to the chocolate I ate last night.

Well done on losses so far. I weighed in today, will do so again next Saturday.

Ni58 · 08/05/2016 17:15

I decided not to weigh today. Haven't had a very good week so will start again tomorrow. I don't know how you all manage to do your daily steps. I don't count them but I bet I'm nowhere near 10,000. Well done everyone!! X

travellinghopefully12 · 08/05/2016 19:57

DPs thirtieth last night and had a party, with lots of wine, bread, dips and other lovely and destructive things (mackerel pate). I felt like an elephant this morning, but didn't weigh as I'm doing that on Thursdays, plus we don't have a scale.

Back on track tomorrow though, but a little annoyed with myself.

We're going to a seafood restaurant in the evening though, so I am sure I can find something low cal on the menu. Just browsing it atm, anyone know what seabream's like?

Well done everyone, focus on the goal (looking and feeling amazing and fitting into clothes)

x

ArriettyMatilda · 08/05/2016 20:22

I'm pleased that everyone seems to be doing well, I've lost 3 pounds this week, the week before I'd put on on a couple of pounds due to being on holiday and eating lots of cream teas, cooked breakfasts and takeaways! I've found it helpful to decide in advance what I am going to eat for the day. So at breakfast I decide on lunch, at lunch I decide on a snack, and we make a meal plan for dinners before I shop. I only eat when I'm hungry and I'm trying not to clear my plate if I'm full. I allowed myself an ice cream today, but had brunch instead of lunch and breakfast. I've found having yogurt and fruit for breakfast way more satisfying than cereal. I'm weighing every couple of days to keep me on track.

AugustRose · 08/05/2016 22:15

Hi all, glad you are doing so well. I have lost 1.5 lbs and I'm happy with that considering I haven't managed as much exercise as planned this week. I am a chocoholic and loves biscuits but haven't had either for weeks now and I'm not craving at all. It's amazing how quickly you can get used to eating less.

My bad time is still evenings, after the DC are in bed and I have time to sit down I get hungry but I have plenty of fruit on hand to make sure I don't go for anything I'll regret Grin

cathyandclaire · 09/05/2016 06:56

Well done all!
I'm only a pound down and have been super good with loads of exercise.
Very frustrating and really unusual for me.
I may do my body fat levels at the gym and see if that's improving, oh well, onwards and downwards.

cathyandclaire · 09/05/2016 07:02

Oooh, forgot to add I downloaded a chocolate hypnosis app ( saw it on another thread) a couple of weeks ago. I low carb and was having dark chocolate every day and craving a bit after each meal (and in between Grin )
I listened to it a few times but fell asleep before the woman started even talking about chocolate. However I've realised I haven't had any for ten days and haven't even thought of it. Weird!!

CarrotVan · 09/05/2016 12:19

Can I join? I've been steadily losing a bit of weight since I was ill in October and am now 9 st 12 lb and 5' 6" having started at around 10st 9lb. I'd like to get towards 9 st 6 lb (60kg) and do some toning.

DH started WW about 2.5 months ago and has lost nearly 2 st so I've got someone to keep me honest.

Today's food:
Granola, yoghurt and stewed fruit for breakfast
Homemade chicken and veg soup and a slice of toast for lunch
Dinner will be homemade chicken curry with lots of veg in and rice
Snacks: banana, possibly a packet of crisps

Notes to self - bring more healthy snacks to work

ineedamoreadultieradult · 09/05/2016 14:25

Oh Damn it, was meant to eat 2 eggs for lunch, instead I have had one of lidls yummy cheese bread buns and loads of midget gems!!! Feel really annoyed with myself this is usually the time I just throw in the towel and eat loads of rubbish while I sit here feeling a failure so I'm posting here instead to distract myself from that downwards spiral!
