I'm so pleased to have found this thread. I've got a wedding to go to at the beginning of June and I'm 10 pounds heavier than I weighed for a June wedding last year Blush I know I can't lose it all in one month, as last year I lost the same amount very slowly and was breastfeeding dd much more often. I'm still bf but not anywhere near as much so I don't think it'll aid my weight loss this time. I'd like to lose a pound a week, seven pounds would be amazing though and make such a difference to my figure. I'll give it a try! I'm trying to stick to three meals a day and one light snack if I'm particularly hungry. I'm 5ft 2 and today I weighed 10st 12.6. I resisted cake at the toddler group today and the donuts dp bought reduced from Waitrose. I hope I can stick to it, like every one else here. I struggle to exercise with toddler DD around, does anyone have any ideas?

I have MFP set at 1200 a day, needless to say I don't manage it...Does it sound a bit ambitious? I'm 5 ft 2 teetering around 10 St and desperate to get to 9.5 again or joy of joys 9st.
Joining gym again tomorrow to start C25k, what classes has anyone done where they have seen quick results? I need to see it happening to keep a class up I think, v easily distracted...

Hi all - just checking in Smile Felt like q good day yesterday - my first 500cal fast day and I just about managed it (4cals over!!) and did some work at the allotment and a walk with ds to burn some extra. Dh went out to the pub which is normally an excuse for me to have a couple of beers too, but I resisted and had some water and a bath instead Halo Hope everyone has a good day today - meeting friends for coffee, so suspect there may be some Biscuit involved...!

Hi all, I've had a really good week (been starving all week though Confused) and weighed in this morning and have lost around 1lb.

I'm trying not to be despondent, it's the beginning of AF so ill put it down to that.

Onwards and upwards! Now 10st 2.5. Goal is 9st 10 so there is a way to go in the remaining 3 weeks!

MissWimpy well done you're going down, that's great.
I'm not. I'm going to have rant about the unfairness of being short. My maintenance calories are 1400- just to stay the bloody same!!!

Grrrrrrrrrr

I am loving my fitness pal app, it is making me so much more aware of what I am putting in my mouth and stops me picking at ds's snacks and his leftover meals etc. Now just have to keep it up and see if it makes a difference.

Spring, have you calculated your BMR? That will tell you how many calories you need per day to maintain your weight.

It could be that you actually need fewer calories than you think, or that maybe subconciously now you are having smaller portions than before.

I lost a stone in 2 months through just measuring portions - it's amazing how much it can make a difference.

I'm 10 stone 6lbs and want to get down to 10 through running and eating less crap!

I'm trying to make small changes to drop a lb here and there - walking kids to school instead of driving, having nice food in fridge to avoid lure of takeaways, etc.

Wimpy - 1lb is fantastic - here is an image of 1lb of human fat - dietdatabase.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/1-pound-fat-mug.jpg (Very gross link)

Say a great big thank you you're almost the same as me (am 10st 5lb) What height are you? Maybe we can lose together?

Thank you Jamie, I had never heard of BMR! I have just done the calculations and it looks as though I should be aiming for something more like 1200 rather than 1400 a day if I want to lose about a pound a week. I thought it was too good to be true that I was still getting a couple of biscuits with my morning coffee...

Good evening everyone...been a busy bunny today and with it being a German bank holiday I was off work.

Everyone is doing fabulously, keep it up Grin I've managed to resist sweetie stuff all of this week and am feeling better for it, my tummy is going down and I feel like I have more energy. Sugar really is the devil (processed, not natural)

I've attached my Fitbit stats for today Smile

Feeling so much better too without the comfort eating and far less refined sugar. Doing portion control with MyNetDiary (similar to My Fitness Pal). Not quite back on the yoga yet but hoping to get there this weekend...

Wow, good looking Fitbit stats there, flamingo! Are there enough of us to have a Fitbit challenge this weekend/next week sometime??

ineedamoreadultieradult thank you, it keeps me going a bit too, but it is also nauseating to look at (maybe that's why it keeps me going.)

I was offered free wine last night and declined. It was tough, (Free wine, free really nice wine)

Sitting in the park - just eaten a home-made king prawn salad with toasted seeds and some fruit. Lovely day.

This past week have averaged 20k steps a day - three runs included. Have also resisted wine and had a cuppa instead (well done travelling!).

Still haven't lost any bloody weight! I do feel good though. Going to bed early without my phone, reading, getting up early to exercise.

Hope everyone is having a good, healthy day where it comes easily Smile

Working in a call centre has to be one of the hardest places to diet! Today I has to avoid a free lunch buffet, free donuts and give the bottle of wine and chocolate I won on an incentive to a friend!

agree with about feeling so much better for having a week minus comfort eating and sweet stuff. Particularly proud because done even though two exams this week and an all day interview without using a sugar crutch. Feel a bit super hero!

How are you all managing to control the cravings and stick to your plans? I've had a bad couple days and really lacking motivation. It seems impossible to stick with something when results take time to see. Any tips?

I find if you brush your teeth then the cravings go away, have you ever eaten something after brushing? Tastes horrible

hello! slow progress here - I've weighed myself after a week and I've lost 2lbs. So down from 11stone 11 pounds to 11stone 9 pounds. I've had a couple of better if not exactly good days. So, more greens, less carbs on the plate and significantly cut back on sweets, crisps, sugared drinks, ice-cream and chocolate. I need to build some exercise in. I've got a family birthday parties and weddings over the May, June and July - culminating in our summer holidays in August. I'd love to feel fit and toned and healthy by then.

teacher84 maybe this is just me, but when I dress well, so, hair done, a bit of make up, a nice dress, real shoes even if flats - I don't want to eat so much because I feel like a lady. And when I eat in my usual fashion - I don't feel like a lady, I just feel greedy. I know there is a whole heap of gender stereotype brainwashing there but as this is weight loss and not feminism board pls lets ignore And I've got lots of nice things I can't quite fit into, or that would feel better if I wasn't quite so heavy - so that motivates me.

I'm also at the age my mum was when she developed type 2 diabetes, followed by the onset of heart problems. I don't need to do that to myself for the sake of cake and ice cream and sweet drinks and too large portions every single meal

Been doing well this week. Got 3 days of good exercise, and no random snacking. Let's see what the scales say tomorrow!

Teacher I don't know if this helps, but I seem to get into a cycle with cravings, where the more I give into them, the more I crave sweet stuff. If I can manage a few good days on the trot, it helps make the cravings weaker the next time. Can you use something like MFP, or a habit tracker app, or even a good old fashioned sticker chart to help you see the progress in eating healthily, even if that doesn't immediately translate into weight loss?

My danger point is the evening. I either go to bed or have a massive cup of tea to fill me up. So boring but does work, if I have the willpower.

I also sometimes have ready-prepared crudités in the fridge.
