DeepFriedFlamingo · 30/04/2016 13:24

So I've managed to pick up half a stone from somewhere and need to lose it so starting tomorrow going to try...

Not doing anything special just going to eat less and move more.

Who's with me? I have a Fitbit and am willing to challenge anyone Grin

Hi all

I'm pleased this week as I have lost 2lb so that 4.5lb altogether. I had a couple of small treats at the beginning of the week but was very strict in the second half and I'm glad it has shown up on the scales.

I use Salter digital scales that DH insisted we buy (for his benefit not mine!) from Aldi a few months ago - I think they were £10. I have them in the same place on the bathroom floor each time I weigh. The floor isn't flat so if you move them they will give a slightly different reading - I make sure they are where they give the lowest reading Grin

I have an ancient analog scale - I'd like a digital but as the ones we've had before have broken whilst our analog one keeps going it seems a waste.

hra you sound realty fit and healthy - maybe you just don't have that much to lose and its all muscle? I swam for 50 minutes today and was quite proud of myself. But THREE 10k runs? You're a veritable athlete.

rainbow, I am made of muscle and cake

I am not fast but I like a medal and am motivated by entering races.

Yep, no weight lost BUT I am wearing a dress today that I haven't worn since before Christmas. So something must be happening...

Good to hear others are having success Smile

A bit disheartened to have gained a lb this week despite eating sensibly and having got lots of exercise. Maybe it's building muscle... I do feel better though. I also have Salter digital scales but sometimes suspect them of playing tricks on me!

Focus on feeling better, blue, and all the benefits you're getting from that. It's working for me Smile

Sunday 3 week weigh in -2lbs down. So now I've gone from starting weight of 11stone 11 lbs to 11stone 5lbs. I'd like to be 10 stone long term - I'm 5 foot 7 inches. so I've much more to lose total than the thread's 7lb goal but it's a start. Today I had a massive icecream sundae as my s-day sometimes not sticking to nobs diet eating habits - it felt a bit sickly by scoop 3. Hopeful this signals the start of a change in how I view food and portion size. Next week I will try to start the exercise every day that doesnt begin with S part.

Well done on all the losses and better health. I'm a pound down this week so 5 altogether. Also using salter digital scales. Really enjoying having more energy than I usually would have. Come on the last 2lb!

Did my race this morning. Was glorious weather. Only about 60 of us. Was just hoping for a nice time in the sun, ran it in 56:30, which is a time I'm really pleased with. Haven't run that good a time for a few months. Feeling good - it was lovely to be out in nature too, and not suffering from hay fever (have cut out dairy).

An now I'm home and full of crisps and BBQ :) happy Sunday everyone.

Despite the gloom yesterday, the jeans I'm wearing today fit better than they did 3 weeks ago, so that's got to be a good sign!

Well done on the race, Hra

Well done in your race Hra I really wish I could get into running but I just hate it, it's a hangover from horrible PE teachers and cross country in a gym skirt when it's freezing outside!

Blue it's great that you fee better in the jeans. I have never been much lighter than I am now (maybe 2-4lbs) but I have been more toned and it makes a big difference in how you feel.

No exercise here today as we've been to a local farm open day, got caught out by some heavy showers but the DC had a nice time Smile

Well done again on the losses everyone and the race hra

Apart from taking Dd to nursery I've done no exercise so that's a fail. Never mind tomorrow's a new day and I stuck to my 3 plates of food so things were ok food wise today.

Sooo... It's not going that well for me! Have been trying so hard but not making a huge amount of progress. One or two pounds. After weeks of healthy eating and exercise. Does anyone have a good idea for the next week to shift a couple more pounds and keep me motivated? Thinking of 5:2 but don't know if I'll manage with lots of small children (4 under 7). But need to keep going!!

SadPeterson. But you might find that sticking to what you're doing for a bit longer yields results - and if you're doing everything healthily and not eating too many calories, then it's gotta happen. I don't know about you, but my body holds the same weight for ages, then drops by 2 or even 3 lbs seemingly overnight.

Feeling good. Went out for tea yesterday before seeing the amazing Irvine Welsh do a reading. Had a wagamamas salad.

I'm finding that if I plan to eat 1600-1700 calories a day and eat about 1300 of them at breakfast and lunch, I'm not actually hungry come teatime so soup is enough. This is a revelation for me, especially as the evening is my danger time.
10st4 today. 4 mile run done; Pilates later. Then work: my most difficult class today so I'm not looking forward to it.

Have a good day everyone Smile

Same weight as you hra, and yes I do the same- no loss then suddenly 2-3 lb. Also do lots of exercise, maybe it's connected?!

Hmm, I was going to suggest that I'm having success on the no s diet peter but as I started at a stone and a half heavier with very poor habits, the drastic change has yielded results so far.

One thing I'm also changing is that I'm going to aim to keep between 1200 & 1500 calories a day food intake. I have been using MFP and realise because it adjusts everything for the amount of activity you do (I do a lot- running, HIIT, walking generally 15,000 steps with children in the buggy) I have been eating more according to what it gives me 'free' due to extra exercise calories. That is probably cheating. So yesterday stuck to bang on 1200 kcals intake. Felt weak and awful by the evening, but I know it's short term. So my day's food intake looks like this:
Breakfast-Raspberries, small amount full fat Greek yogurt unsweetened, teaspoon of ground nuts
Lunch: 2 egg omelette with vegetables
Supper: brown rice, pork loin chop, lots of veg
2 squares dark chocolate
It's a winner, right?!!

With all that exercise I just couldn't keep going on 1200, Peterson. I used to be on a thread here called eat more to weigh less. All of us exercised a lot and generally ate more cals than rock bottom.

I average 20k steps a day atm, run three or four times a week and do 1-2hrs Pilates. I eat 1700ish cals a ft and have had a couple of 2000 cals days and lost average 1lb a week for the last 5 weeks. I feel full and strong all the time. I've felt a bit hungry the odd evening but nothing going to bed early doesn't sort Smile

I literally couldn't survive on 1200. I know it's a cliche, but if you ate more it might be better all round X

Report
PetersonPeterson · 25/05/2016 19:09

Yes, I do totally agree with you and I have mainly been eating more like 1800 to 2000 a day, esp if I have been on a long run. But some weeks nothing is shifting at all- I'm in better shape and my clothes for better, but the actual weight is still a good half stone above my 'normal' and it does show. So I am going to try 1200 for 3 days, 1 day 2000, then repeat and hopefully it will get rid of the last few pounds. Normally I don't think much about my weight- I eat mostly what I want, but try to be healthy where possible, and exercise regularly. It's just losing weight after babies that is the issue! Thanks for your help though, and I agree 1200 is nothing and I don't enjoy it or feel good when I'm doing it. Will let you know how it goes over next week or so.

Well done to all you lot who are sticking with it and continuing to see a weight loss.

I put on .75 of a pound this week at my weigh in yesterday, so I was really disappointed, although I did eat some cake at the weekend, hormones. Still, I am not throwing in the towel yet.

Out of interest, peterson, what height are you and what's your goal weight?

I'm 5 ft 4. I like being 9 st 9. Something like 9 st 5, toned, sustained, would be amazing. I'm 40 in January and would love to hit it at my very ideal weight/shape.

Interesting, Hraf - I'm 5'3" and got down to 9 st 3 a couple of years ago, but couldn't sustain it. I'm about 10 st 7 at the moment, and anything under 10 st would be great. Ideally about 9 st 7 to stand a chance of sticking there! But if there's muscle instead of fat, a heavier weight would do as well!

That's it, blue - I can get there but feel miserable and like I'm denying myself all treats. I do like to eat healthy foods, but love nuts, avocado etc and just am not prepared to give these things up as well as cake in order to be that light! Grrr!
