DeepFriedFlamingo · 30/04/2016 13:24

So I've managed to pick up half a stone from somewhere and need to lose it so starting tomorrow going to try...

Not doing anything special just going to eat less and move more.

Who's with me? I have a Fitbit and am willing to challenge anyone Grin

I know it's not helpful if you don't like or have time to bake but I have been trying out some 'healthier' options for treats. Making wholemeal muffins/flapjacks with fruit instead of added sugar, etc

This was also partly because I want to reduce the sugar the DC eat too - luckily they like them (DH doesn't :) ) although it does take a bit of trial and error - the flapjacks were fine fresh but the next morning were a bit stodgy with very little sweetness.

I'm also reducing my carbs - just cutting down on the bread/crackers mainly as I used to eat lots. I have managed to get down to half a sugar in my tea but I just can't get to none, it tastes awful with no sugar.

Does anyone have tips for drinking more water - any really nice flavoured ones. I really don't like just water except when exercising but I know I should drink much more.

I definitely find drinking water easier out of a bottle than a glass, it just goes down
better somehow.

I'm in! Hoping to pick up gentle exercise and avoid comfort eating after some surgery.

Good day today: up at 5, ran 5k and power walked another 5k (650 cals).

Crackers, ham, tomatoes and apple for breakfast, McDonald's grilled chicken wrap and crudités for lunch, crab salad (no carbs) for tea. Drank water and camomile tea. Walked 22k steps in total.

Plan tomorrow is to run 5 miles early, eat lots of veg and do some Pilates in the evening.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Blimey Hraf that's angelic. I did reasonably well but nowhere near that!

I'm feeling positive though and hoping for a 2lb loss this week.

I had fat free yogurt and a banana for breakfast, homemade veg soup for lunch and then went to friends for dinner so had chilli and rice (not great but couldn't exactly say no!) and a small chocolate desert.

I'm within WW points. Just!

Deep I was in Germany last week and it was FREEZING. I mean literally. So weird. Actual snow on the cars. Got warm in the day but returned to near zero for the night. Was in same place exactly 4 years ago and it was 32 degrees!

Helloand ... I'm taking your pace. No comfort eating nor 3Ss -always a significant achievement for me. Very pleased with that. Well done all.

Greetings. Poor effort today. Tomorrow won't be much better as at all day meetings and conferences don't have a lot of vegetables at coffee breaks. Will be better from weds.

Much better day today, 1400 calories (mfp) and 17500 steps on the Fitbit! Hope everyone else has had a good day!

MissWimpyDimple you can have all 4 seasons in one day here, the day it snowed was very strange.

Glad everyone had a good day today, I'm very happy with today, ran 2 miles and had 16k steps, ate very little but haven't really need hungry, drinking lots of water too

Not the best day yesterday, burgers & fries for tea (it was a bank holiday!) so need to be good today - off to do some Davina so I may not be able to walk tomorrow Grin

Made a good start here, I've a lot more to lose than everyone else but I want to take it slower. Walked the children to school, so three miles for me and did an exercise DVD when I got back.

I'm trying hard but have managed to put on a bloody pound!

No run as planned, but I walked four miles and will do another four when I finish work and run tomorrow instead. Currently eating a big bowl of berries.

Hi All, mind if I join in?

Lost a bit of weight last year all on my ownsome and then stalled. Managed to only put four lbs back on of the original 1st 7 loss but realise it is a slippery slope. In addition to this I have a big birthday coming up and refuse to be fat and frumpy in the inevitable photos. Half a stone this month would be a great start. I think if I try and do it with others, it will be more motivational.

Starting weight 10st 4lb
Goal weight 9st (and then see from there!)
Height 5 ft 3

No particular plan at the moment, just trying to reduce portion size and eat less crap.

Hi all. Can I join in?

I have a wedding in July I would like to be at least a half stone lighter for.

Starting weight - 11st 4
Goal weight - 10st 7
Height - 5ft 10

constant snacking is my downfall. I have not been at regular exercise classes for 2 weeks now.

I plan to:
drink at least 2 litres of water each day
5 portions of fruit and veg each day
cut all unhealthy snacking
body combat/yoga at least 4 times each week.

I find my motivation drops after a week or so. if I am updating on here, this may keep me focussed - I hope so anyway.

Good luck everyone.

Welcome everyone, let's see if we can keep each other going as I find it difficult after the first week.

I have a pair of trousers that I know if I can do them up then I'm getting to about the right weight.

Sometimes better to have an item of clothing than scales Grin

Hello, can I join in? I am heading towards 11 stone and should be nearer 9 for my height, but half a stone would be a good start.

I've just got back onto MFP and intending to cut out snacking as well as getting more exercise. Will see how it goes!

Hi, can I join you? I need to lose half a stone - currently 9 1/2 which is the most I've ever been - I'm better at about 8 1/2 but not sure I'll ever see that again, so nine will do.

Going to Portugal in July and would like to look better than I do in my summer clothes (some of which I can't get on...)

I have no real plan either but aim to:

Do Davina or some decent walking/running at least every other day
Only snack on fruit and veg in the week
No alcohol in the week
Cue down on portions a bit - I really don't need to eat the same amount as DH who does triathlons
Eat and drink what I want at the weekend so I have something to look forward to!

Hoping being on here will remind me what I'm meant to be doing and provide some motivation.

Hi can I join? Am 8 st 11 and want to be 8 st 4 by June. Finding it really hard to stay off the chocolate and am feeling horrible, bloaty and unhealthy because of it. Need to get back into running but have a horrible cough so can't do it until i'm fully recovered. Hopefully this will give me some motivation. Well done all those that have done so well this week Smile

I know what you mean about clothes. But I have a very limited wardrobe indeed as most of my smaller clothes have been chucked out it's been that long since they fitted. I also chucked out all my larger stuff last year, so I have basically bugger all to wear and am reluctant to buy more until I've settled size wise.

Good encouragement indigo88, thank you. I did falter earlier but now replacing a comfort-eating peanut butter sandwich with a boiled egg for some healthy protein. It's lovely to have everyone's company.

Hello Hello! Day 3 for me. Super stressful day today. However, no comfort eating. Very pleased. I'm miserable but much less so than if I'd tried to get a lift or a reward from snacking. I don't feel bloated today and that's a very pleasant buzz to have. There's also something very pleasing about just sitting with the stress rather than having the quick fix. Somehow feels more courageous and realistic, like I'm 'butching' up to the stress rather than wiping out behind a piece of cake.

Pretty good again today, though it's now the end of the day and I'm pretty hungry.

Really determined to stick to this, just desperate to see some results!

Keep it up!
